Spacious seating, lots of food options, but bummed the flat rice noodles didn't make it in for one of the items I looked forward to. The garlic ribs were crispy and flavorful, some pieces are a bit small with minimal meat on it, but not a huge issue. The xiao long bao had a good flavor, but not a ton of soup inside. I'm elated that Joyee decided to expand to North County! We have limited options for good Chinese food in NCSD so as soon as they opened, hubby and I went to try it out. Nice layout and a good amount of seating. The condiment tray is on each table. Only wish they had the Chinese yellow mustard, but chili oil did the trick too. We tried 5 different dishes. My faves were the cucumber salad, shrimp/pork shumai and surprisingly the chow mein. The chow mein noodle was thicker than I had expected (like a skinny udon noodle) but the flavor was there and tasted good. The XLB is okay, I would rate it the same as Kung Fu noodles in Vista. And BBQ buns were good. I like the menu here as they have quite a few dishes I will want to try in the future. Also, for people that love chicken feet, it's on the menu! My dad loves this dish so I'll get it to go in the future and update if yay or nay. The price per portion is fantastic deal. We left satisfied and had a lot of leftovers for lunch the next day. FIVE STARS!!! without a thought!! I was curious what "soup dumplings" were after watching a show called "DEAR Edward" so I search where I can get some and Joyee dumpling house popped up so we decided to try it out. I am soo happy we did. This spot is amazing! Inside ambiance is super cool, welcoming. Service is so professional, quick, and personable, you can tell they want you to feel at home and not rushed to eat. This place is very popular!! Now the food is all delicious and comes in large shareable portions especially for the price. You gotta try this place out. I can see them outgrowing their building and adding a second location nearby - assuming they have not already. Giving a 4/5. It was great. Had a few critiques on the food. The biggest downfall is the inbound customer flow. People do not know which doors to enter. Where to sit. Outside? Inside? Order at front To-go orders? Where is the sign-in sheet? There was general confusion the entire time we there. A missing hostess compounded the issue. The food is high-quality and the value is incredible. Tons of meat in two dishes. Two dishes needed a little higher veggie ration. And the char siu buns definitely needed more meat. This will probably be a to-go order for us. The place was loud and seating is not comfortable for a nicer experience. But a great place for some great food. I am sure they will round out their ratios and hopefully they can come up with a solution to streamline the experience of walking in the door and trying to figure out how to queue without cutting in line. This is a new restaurant we have been wanting to try . It was 1:30 on Monday . We walked in and it was way larger inside than I imagined. Big tables with lots of people enjoying there food , As we walked in the owner greeted us and let us know she will take our order . We ordered the fried pork dumplings. It took about 15 minutes. I still believe the food is delicious but based on the conversation I had today with the girl that was working the counter I can truly say I will never step foot in this establishment ever again.. I asked her for some chili sauce that I have been getting for over a year and she told me that she was going to charge me. Unfortunately, I didn't have my wallet because it was placed through Grubhub. I've been eating there about three times a week for the past year. After an audition my partner was looking for restaurants to dine at in the area. When we arrived we went to the front counter. We asked a staff member what we should do if we are dining in. She directed us to stand by the front entrance and a staff member will help us shortly. We saw a notebook that had names on it so my partner wrote his name down and two guests. Soon after sitting down in the waiting area, we were sat at a table. The staff member gave us two large laminated menus. Then another staff member gave us glasses of water. We ordered Fried Pancakes with Chives and Egg, Cucumber Salad, Eggplant with Szechuan Sauce, Green Beans with Garlic. Walnut Shrimp, Pork Soup Dumplings, and Scallion Oil Noodles. Let me start by saying that everything was delicious! I cannot speak for eggplant because I am not a fan of the vegetable; however, my partner did not give a critique so it must have been good. The Scallion Oil Noodles were the first to come out. One of the best noodle dishes I have tried in San Diego! That boiled egg in that dish is amazing! The Cucumber Salad was plentiful and refreshing. My partner states that the fried pancake lacked flavor. Also, I was shocked that the restaurant did not have a plum sauce for the dish. The green beans were savory. At the first bite the Walnut Shrimp is really good. Over time the sweetness of the dish becomes a lot. The Pork Soup Dumplings are the main reason why we came. They had a lot of flavor. The dumplings my partner kept picking were ripping so he was not able to have that soup substance. He is proficient with chopsticks for some reason the dumplings were tearing on him. On the table there was vinegar, soy sauce, pepper oil, and a small dish for dipping the dumplings in the sauce. Inside the dumpling basket there is ginger to add to the sauce. Once we were finished eating a staff member packed up our entrees. Jay Jay, the staff member that packed our food, was friendly and we had a good conversation. Also wanted to talk more about my last experience here. My wife ordered take out and went in to pick it up. She asked for more chili oil and vinegar since we ordered dumplings for multiple people but instead of giving it to her, they just gave her an attitude and said everything for or order is in the bag. Not wanting to press the issue, my wife left. When she got home we began to unpack the bag and immediately noticed they forgot the sauce for the Dan Dan noodles, essentially just giving us completely plain noodles. I decided to be the one to go back as my wife just got home from a long day of work. I walked in and explained to the person at the counter what happened and she didn't believe me. In her words, she wanted proof that it wasn't in there. WHO TF WALKS IN AND ASKS FOR JUST DAN DAN SAUCE? I tried explaining it again and she requested the receipt which I did not have. Instead of taking my word for it I had my wife send me a photo of the receipt. She then proceeds to hand me 2 Dan Dan sauce containers and states I gave you an extra one complimentary. WTF would I do with an extra sauce container? It's not like I had two orders. I didn't ask for anything....but if I did, what makes you think an extra sauce is the best way to make it right with the customer? To the food: Shrimp/pork shumai, was meh, not fantastic, just okay Soup pork wontons were good, and had plenty of them. Walnut Shrimp, had a different twist to them, I wonder if it's orange maybe. But they were okay. Mongolian Beef was fantastic! Plenty of chiles, but not overly spicy. Beef Chowmein was good. I was just surprised the entrees did not come with white rice for the prices. I asked the server for the bill, and she did offer to box the leftovers, so that was nice, but I like to box my own. I did find it rude that she walked back by in 15 secs to get the payment. I had started boxing so i didn't have my cash out yet. And again, besides us, one or two other tables. So I stopped boxing, pulled out the cash and she came back quickly to retrieve payment.
