08.24.2025 Forgot to check in, but I want to Let everyone know about the food my wife and I had, my mom is a hostess here and she worked on her birthday tonight. Anyway, my mom sat us and our server Tammy was very friendly, my wife ordered the caesar salad and I had the egg rolls we also ordered some bread. The bread was very good lightly browned very soft center it's served with a sweet butter. The food is excellent here, not because my mom works here either she's a hosts else where and I'm not of fan of those places. For desert we had the peanut butter pie which is good. read more

I'm giving this restaurant a 3 because the food was very good. But the interaction we had with the manager was not. We were a party of 8 and he initially tried to sit us at a very small table and when we said something about there not being enough room, he doubled down and insisted it could seat 8. The waitress fortunately allowed us to push the table up against a booth which gave us plenty of room. We ordered our dinners and waited a fairly long time to be served, but that was ok because we knew they were really busy. When the meals came, my meal wasn't delivered. I figured they'd bring it out in a minute or two but after 7 or 8 minutes, I found the waitress and told her I hadn't received my meal. About 7 to 8 minutes after that the manager comes over. Before he says anything, someone said, "She didn't get her meal". The manager says in a somewhat snarky tone, "That's why I'm here". Then he asks what I ordered and I told him and he said he'd have it right out to me. About 15 minutes later, when everyone else had finished eating, he delivered my meal. I asked him if the meal would be comped. He said " well, when you put it that way" again, in a snarky voice. I did get my meal comped but no one at the table could believe how rude he was. We all have vacation homes in OC and eat out a lot. Mistakes happen, but he never once apologized, and was very rude. The waitress did apologize though. We won't be going back there again. read more

We tried this place for the first time. We had noticed that it always seems to be busy and have repeat traffic so we thought that was a good sign. Even though it is mid August and the weekend of the White Marlin Open, we got in after only a brief 10-minute wait. I had the cream of crab soup and the Caesar salad. The soup was delicious without being too rich, and the salad was large and tasty. My husband got the prime rib special and said it was one of the best that he's had in the Ocean City area. To top it off, we had a lovely, efficient, knowledgeable, and extremely pleasant young server named Addie. Be sure to ask for Addie when you go in! read more

Awesome hush puppies, a little bit of old bay on the fries which was nice, and plenty of options here. The Hot Carolina style Chicken Sandwich was pretty good, but a little too spicy to enjoy the other flavors, I normally love some spice but it caused the rest of the flavor to disappear from this sandwich. Their Mac and cheese was really disappointing, unfortunately. The orichetti is a really nice texture that you don't see often, but there was no flavor which was disappointing. Should have been worried when the laminated menus stuck to the table Wife had creamy crab soup that was so salty she didn't eat it I had special fish and chips. We spontaneously went as a couple to try this Happy Hour and could not have been more pleased with our decision! We started with some drinks including glass of wine and a pint of beer, and ordered the mahi tacos and freshly shucked Chesapeake oysters, Chocotegue sourced which we later asked to find out. There were only a handful of tables occupied when we arrived which was during the beginning of their happy hour service, but the room slowly began to fill up with other customers without any slowdown or tension to our table service. Our waitress, Kayla, was great and very attentive promptly attending and answering questions, which was greatly appreciated. After another round of drinks, we requested the check and saw there was an error on the billing. The waitress discussed it with the manager and corrected the bill issue without haste and they thanked us for pointing it out to them. We were very satisfied with everything: the food and beverage selection was buried and numerous, the service was quick and courteous, the decor and atmosphere of the space was inviting and appealing, and we were very satisfied with the entire experience. We will recommend this to family and friends and look forward to coming back to have a full meal here in the very near future. Okay in addition, they offer rewards points with their restaurant program which we were able to utilize from our experiences at other restaurants for a discount to our bill for the evening. We had reservations at 6:30 - our appetizers came out at 7:40 - dinners came out at 7:50 and were lukewarm at best. I ordered steak medium well and it was rare. The potatoes were even bloody. Another group arrived after us and their good came before ours. I understand delays happen but my family deserves better!!!! read more

We visited J.R.'s Seafood Shack while on vacation in Ocean City, Maryland, with a party of seven. The experience was a bit of a mixed bag--some highlights, but also some drawbacks. Starting with the positives: Our waitress was very nice, and the service overall was solid. The food came out quickly, was served hot, and everything was well-seasoned and flavorful. We started with the Carolina scallops appetizer--seared scallops with peach salsa and a ginger vinaigrette. The flavors were good, but at $16 for just four scallops, it felt a little overpriced. For entrées, we ordered three different dishes. The Low Country Boil ($32) came with shrimp, sausage, mussels, crawfish, potatoes, corn, and a biscuit--classic Southern-style. The pan-seared salmon was served with sautéed spinach, greens, red peppers, a light tomato sauce, grilled squash, and roasted potatoes. I had the classic New Orleans shrimp and grits, which came with smoked andouille sausage, shrimp, bacon, spring onions, Creole sauce, and a biscuit. Again, everything tasted great, but the portion sizes were underwhelming for the price. I understand that this is a tourist town, and maybe the pricing reflects that, but for an off-season visit, I was expecting a bit more value for what we paid. The restaurant itself had nice decor, even though it's located in a strip mall. Overall, J.R.'s Seafood Shack delivers on flavor and service, but the portion sizes didn't quite match up to the prices. Would I go back? I'm on the fence. If you don't mind paying a bit more for good seafood in a casual setting, it might be worth a visit--but if you're looking for better value, you might want to explore other options. read more

Loved eating at JR's while I was visiting my favorite beach town, Bethany Beach. I seriously had the best hush puppies here I've ever had. They served them with a delicious butter. You cannot come to this restaurant and not try these hush puppies. My group of 6 was able to get seated right away which was awesome. Our server was the absolute sweetest thing and had great menu recommendations!! We tried the seafood Mac and cheese and it did not disappoint! I would say it was very similar to a seafood pasta with cheese melted on top. The lobster rolls on the specials menu was a great deal! Would highly recommend!! read more

This restaurant took over just hooked last year and is owned by Fins. I love the atmosphere here and they have all kinds of seating. We did some HH specials which they have fried oyster, fried shrimp baskets, mahi fish tacos, chicken sliders and hush puppies. HH Libations include local beer, wine and call drinks for a special price. The service was outstanding and I must admit the hush puppies I would go back for just to eat a bowl of those!! All we ordered was fresh and delicious. They have a large selection of po boys. That will be my next review! read more

We've eaten here several times; the food is always fresh & I love the interesting menu items. We had fried oyster sliders (? I forget if that's what they called them), and hush puppies for apps. I had a salad with spinach, shrimp, avocado, bacon and other goodies with a homemade ranch dressing. My daughter had the grouper Reuben and hubby had stuffed grouper. We were all happy with our meals. Service was quick and friendly, and the general manager (Pat) even bussed tables while chatting with us. I like eating on the side of the restaurant with large windows - makes it very inviting. read more

Visiting Fenwick Island with family, we decided to take an easy approach and walk across the street to sample a local restaurant we had not visited before. The interior was sea/ocean themed and very clean. My son was happy to have the option of crab legs and the others in the group had various options to choose from (land and sea). All food chosen was delivered quickly. With a minor complaint raised, the district manager was quick to seek a resolution to solve the issue. JR's has a lot to offer in the way of good food selection, adequate seating, and a friendly and attentive waiting staff. Our family came away very satisfied having enjoyed the wings, shrimp po boy, hot chicken sandwich, chicken and waffles, and the kids chicken tenders. The waiter was awesome and took great care of us and the rest of the staff picked up some of the slack because at the time we were there, they were very busy. The restaurant was spacious and comfortable, leaving enough room for a lot of people. We noticed they had ample seating for large groups of 10 or more as well. The prices are what you'd expect to pay in the area but unlike some others on the strip of road that parallel these beaches, this one was well worth it. read more

Visited JR's Seafood Shack during our stay at the hotel across the street and the food was great! When we arrived we were quickly greeted by the host staff and sat at a table, even with being a larger party of 6. Our server was super friendly, and quickly took our order. My husband and I ordered the Fried Pickles, She-Crab Soup, Halibut Special, and the Crab Cake Sandwich. The Fried Pickles were delicious! Super crispy, well seasoned, and the ranch dip was the perfect pairing. The She-Crab Soup also had a great flavor and was very creamy. My Crab Cake Sandwich had little filler; it was just full of fresh crab. My husband also loved the Halibut! I would have given 5 stars, but I am docking one because one of our friend's entrees was incorrect, and he had to wait for the correct order to be made which didn't come out until the rest of us were finished eating. My wife is OVER Ocean City restaurants, so we drove about 10 minutes into Delaware and stopped at JR's Seafood Shack. We were greeted by the wait staff AND every staff person we saw. We were seated immediately and looked over the menu. The waitress came over quickly enough and took our order. I ordered a burger and hush puppies for my appetizer. My wife ordered cream of crab soup and Calamari. The hushpuppies were great and so was the soup. My burger was delicious, but my wife didn't care for the Calamari. She said they were small and weren't flavorful. They have a brewery and we had craft beer which was also good. We had planned on returning, but our time was so short we didn't make it back. Although crowded this Monday, we were seated as soon as a table was available. We were initially greeted then seated by Tammy who took our order. Three of us got the crab cake dinner which was cooked to perfection and although crowded, Tammy came by to check on us. The food was hot & delicious and Tammy's service is excellent. In our opinion she deserves a huge raise because of her pleasant disposition and attention to her duties. We also briefly spoke with Pat, the manager who always makes time to stop to see how we are doing - even with the place being packed. This writer recommends JR's Seafood Shack for all visiting the Delaware shores and all locals. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of their food and the service you will receive. Took a day trip down to the beach and stumbled upon this gem. We were seated right away by a friendly hostess who gave us our choice of seating. The atmosphere was friendly with typical beach decor and lots of seating. Our waiter soon followed with the menu and drink specials. The menu had many options, but what we pleasantly notice was they didn't have your typical seas food items - maple flavored broccoli was one side that stood out to me!!! We started with the Memphis Egg Rolls - delicious- be prepared for a string mustard flavor but it danced on my tongue - light and crispy. We each got a bowl of the Crab Bisque Soup. Hubby enjoyed the soup more than I - I thought it needed more crab flavor and bigger pieces of crab. It was a bit thin for my taste but good. For our entrees Hubby and I both got the Fried shrimp and Crab Po'Boy Sandwich. I got a slide of the Maple Flavored Broccoli and he got the side of Mac & Cheese. Best happy hour in town. They have a great beer selection featuring Big Oyster Brewery and a nice variety of food offered. The fried oyster sliders were a highlight for me, I don't think any other restaurant in the area offers anything like them, but the other food items I've had are good as well like the blackened mahi tacos and fried grouper basket.
