    French dip
    Larry F.

firstly, I think I'm pretty fair on criticism and compliments. I post both at restaurants. I'm a picky eater and not always easy to please. When it comes to food with a high standard. I will tell you that in the last four days in the Ocean City Maryland area. I've had crabcakes twice a day for four straight days at different restaurants so that's eight different restaurants crabcakes, and the crabcakes at Southgate Grill are far above the best I had I went to some really good restaurants some local bars and pubs and some pretty well-known seafood houses and they knocked it out of the house. Taylor my server was awesome. Good company lots of fun conversation the gazebo I sat and was really cool sitting down on a little man-made lake and a big rain storm came through so it was a lot of fun and the next day I went and had their French dipand the friendship was possibly the best friendship I've ever had. It was incredible. I don't know the server name, but she was nice and I got a chance to meet the owner and give him some compliments. I recommend anybody from the Salisbury Berlin Ocean City area south Delaware to get into Southgate Grill. I can't speak for all the food, but I can't speak for those two dishes top of the Dodge gold medal five star.

First time here. Awesome place, cozy. Fries are excellent like trashers. Got the Thai Spicy Soft Crab wrap highly recommend. Beers are cheap $3.50 for domestic draft. Never been please go. The service was was fast paid by Toast.

    Cream of crab soup
    Janae H.

The cream of crab soup left much to be desired...it lacked flavor. I enjoyed my oyster BLT with fries. My dad ordered a Ruben with fries and the kid had the chicken tender basket that came with fries...we all enjoyed our meals. Save room for desert because the brownie sundae was moist and delicious! The best that I've had in a long time The food wasn't bad and the service was cool so I'd come back if I was ever in the area

Great little spot in ocean pines with pretty good seafood and a nice little bar. Quiet atmosphere for the most part. Might go back one day.

Last summer was my first visit after seeing some friends recommend and following them on social media. We had their longboard wings, veggie wrap and jerk chicken wrap. Everything was DELICIOUS! On Wednesday of this week I stopped in for lunch with my dog and we sat on the 'boardwalk' which is what they call part of their outdoor section. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They offer a water bowl and a complimentary piece of bacon for the pups. My dog was thrilled as you can see by one of the pics =) On this visit I tried the wrinkled green been app and the St. Croix chopped salad. Both were very good. My dog ordered the kids burger plain with no bun. He had no complaints! I stole his fries which were yummy. Luke was our server on my most recent visit. He provided excellent service! He even helped me gain some more insight on bringing a large party there later this year. He got me in touch with one of the managers and I am currently coordinating with them. Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants in OC and can't wait to come back in a couple months!

The only flaw was that the sauce they put on it made the fish a bit soggy on the majority of the deep fried fish. And the batter was a bit bitter. The citrus shrimp taco with flour was good. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The toppings and seasoning blended very well. The cabbage gave the taco a great crunchy texture with each bite. The tacos were accompanied with chips. Alex our wait staff had a pleasant and friendly personality. He was also able explain the menu items in a helpful and informative manner. Imani another staff was very personable. I like the atmosphere. A upscale casual dinner with a beachy feel.

All of the appetizers and entrees we loved were gone. Food was bland, no flavor at all. Cheesesteak egg rolls full of chewy fat and the only flavor was overpowering green chilies. Who takes Ahi Tuna off the appetizer list? Apparently the "chef" in charge is making very bad decisions and needs some continuing education classes. Sadly we won't be back. Shame though, we really enjoyed it before all of the changes even though the service was always slow, the food made up for it, not so much now.

Of course, Pittsburgh with warm center. Substitute a whole sliced tomato for the potato, (delicious) and perfect grilled asparagus. I still brought home enough for a generous steak sandwich! My wife had the happy hour fish bites. They were fluffy and expertly prepared. Back to the steak... there is a shortage of good steakhouses in the area and I am hoping they will add fresh cuts to the menu as exceptional offerings become available. The chef did an outstanding job preparing the steak, rivaling Bones and Chops in Atlanta, and Cattleman's in Fort Worth. Still a half step from Chicago's Harry Carey's, but at a price point at or less than half. Folks, I hesitate to rave, for fear that I can't get in, or they will run out of steak, but if you want a superlative steak dinner, at a bargain price, join me at Pines. The bone in Ribeye is the best I've had in quite a while, including Texas. Julian is the best. His enthusiasm alone adds to the great experience.

Customer Service: Hands down the best we experienced during our 9-day family trip to OCMD. Karri, our waitress, made us feel like family, loved her. Jeff & Mike were professional, friendly, and made a point to engage with every table. Breakfast? PHENOMENAL. Best we've had, not just this summer, but in all our years visiting OCMD. My wife and son agree. Everything was homemade and cooked to order. No frozen shortcuts. Portions were just right, flavors balanced beautifully, and nothing overly sweet. Nashville Hot Stuffed French Toast: The bourbon and caramelized apples stole the show. Chicken was a fun twist, though next time I'd get it on the side to keep the sweet and spicy separate. You can skip the chicken altogether and save $4 if you'd like. Banana Foster French Toast: Mind-blowing. The kind of dish that makes you question everything you've ever called "breakfast." Plate was licked clean. Already dreaming of it for summer 2026. Creamed Chipped Beef over Biscuits: Shared this one. Generous portion, nostalgic flavor, clearly a recipe passed down and perfected. Triple Decker: My son had the chocolate chip pancakes, huge portion, perfect texture, and he loved every bite. Only minor con: straws come unwrapped in your drink. Not a dealbreaker, but something to note. Final score: 25/25. Solid A+. Verdict: Highly recommended. We'll be back in summer 2026, no question.
