I recently visited JP and ordered the half chicken with a side order of rice, 2 potato salads, tortillas, and salsa. The chicken is always cooked perfectly. JP's blend of seasoning and rotisserie cooking makes the chicken so juicy and tender. I love to make chicken tacos with salsa and salad. The indoor dining area is temporarily closed, and take-out is the only option. I was received warmly by the cashier, and the service was exceptional. I like Juan Pollo as a nice change from El Pollo Loco. It's a little further distance for me but I like their potato salad, rice and salsa better than El Pollo Loco. Also at Juan Pollo you can ask for your chicken juicy compared to the dry smaller pieces of chicken you usually get at El Pollo Loco. As far as taste they are both good. Been going to this location for over 20 years. Very consistently good chicken. This skin has a rotisserie caramelized skin and the chicken is so tender. A mini pack has a whole chicken, rice, beans, potato salad, tortillas and their choice of hot or mild salsa. I always go for the hot salsa. This chicken is great hot, cold, and awesome as leftovers. There's a few parking spots but it's honestly never full. I personally park on the west side of the bldg. The employees are always awesome. I'm giving this location a single star simply because I have gone two times this summer during regular business hours only to find them closed! No sign on the door, no outgoing message when you call, NOTHING. I understand that things like a power outage or running out of food can happen on rare occasion but to not post any kind of explanation or apology to customers is really inconsiderate. I went in for lunch the other day and the gal behind the counter asked for my order... I opened my mouth and before I could say a word, she turned around and yelled in Spanish " there they are! I was first introduced to Juan Pollo at a family get together we had catered and we all loved it. The closest location is about 10 miles from me but worth the trip when I'm craving it. I ordered a Jumbo Pack (3 whole chickens/feeds up to 10) and 1/4 Mini Meal (1 whole chicken/feeds 3-4) from this location for a family dinner close-by on Mother's Day. Most of this side of my family had not had Juan Pollo and everyone also loved it and thought everything delicious - they have the best potato salad! I had called my order in the day prior and it was packaged up when I arrived ensuring I walked out the door with hot, fresh food. The staff were working hard and as a team putting orders together and the cashier was very nice and friendly. The packs/meals are served with salsa, tortillas and sides of your choice. I ordered rice, beans and potato salad, both corn and flour tortillas and both hot and mild sauce. Great food and a great value. There were 9 of us and although the Jumbo Pack feeds up to 10, I ordered a Mini Pack just in case to have extra. We would have been ok with the Jumbo Pack but everyone was happy to have left overs to take home. Great, yummy food at a great price. Food - 3/5 - It's good when it's good, but mediocre when the chicken is dry. Rice is good, beans are good, potato salad is good (the 3 sides I get). Wait time - 5/5 - Not bad at all, but I did call in to place my order. They had my order ready within 10 minutes, this was my drive time to this location. Maybe if you order in person, wait time is 5 minute or less. Order Accuracy - 3/5 - Hit or miss. They usually mess up on the tortillas, corn or flour. This is crucial for people with gluten issues. I usually get the Mini Pak here (chicken, tortilla, 3 sides). The chicken is good (perfectly cooked and juicy), but I've had it dry as well; overcooked. Today, was one of those dry days, again. I would say 3 out of 5 times (maybe 1 out of 2) it will be good. Not quite the best odds, but worth a shot. Today, I went in and saw they had these special offer decal posted on the plastic Covid cover that separates the cashier from the customers that I haven't seen before. It said, 'Mini Pak come with 2 soft drinks'. On a white board, they had another special, 'Mon/Thurs, buy a Jumbo Pak, get a free 2 liter soda. I placed my order over the phone, and when I went to pick it up, I asked for the sodas since the decal stated the Mini Pak comes with 2 sodas included. I was told that they will have to charge me for the 2 sodas. I asked why since the decal promo says it comes with it ("included"), and the cashier replied that she would have to charge me differently. Apparently, there is a Mini Pak WITH and WITHOUT 2 SODAS? I never knew this til today (weird) or the cashier didn't know what she was doing. Why is it advertised as "2 drinks included" with the Mini Pak when it's not a special offer at all. Juan pollo never disappoints for me from the ones deep in the inland area Ontario to this one in Covina. There's a consistency to the chicken flavor and sides. The chicken is moist with a crisp skin from the rotisserie style of cooking keeping the chicken evenly cooked. The sides are so good especially the potato salad. Love their hot salsa even though I'm suppose to cut back on spice, I'd sacrifice to eat this. Along with king taco hot sauce. This is more of a spicy pick de Gallo which is fresh and spicy. He suggested a few spots, but what stood out was this place: Juan Pollo! He says that he believes this place is better than El Pollo Loco. So, gotta go! Once I arrived to the place, I saw the special sign that says: Two chickens for $14.99. I wanted the quarter chicken meal, but since everyone today was getting their Tuesday and Wednesday special (today is Tuesday) I decided to change my mind, last minute [of course] and order their SPECIAL. Total came out to be $16.34. I don't know what I've done to order two whole chickens for my sister and I. It better be amazing! Guess what, I ordered way too much, but it was pretty damn amazing. Between el pollo loco and Juan pollo, Juan pollo is way better. The chicken is tasty , every bite you can taste the flavor of it. And its not dry like el pollo loco. I love how they have specials on Tuesday and Wednesday 2 whole chicken for only 17.99! You cant go wrong with it! The salsa is good too but its a little salty to taste. I just hope that the cashier lady that works in the afternoon (i think it was Wednesday) should be more friendlier and smile more like the lady that works in the night(on Thursday) but oh well every one has their days!
