They have grilled chicken and also fried chicken, I tried both but enjoyed the fried more. It has a lot of flavor. Had some time during lunch break and decided to pull up to campero. I was suggested this spot by one of my homies who lives closeby, and he said it was really good so I decided to go check it out myself. Walking inside it was nice and cold which was great since it was about 98 degrees lol. Went to the front and the menu was easy to read and navigate, decided to go with the 3 piece fried chicken meal. It came with 2 sides where I chose the mac n cheese + french fries. To my surprise the order was ready in less than 3 minutes, legit right after I filled up my drink and sat down the food was ready. The chicken tasted great, fried to a great point and was cripsy all around and the meat itself was tender and well cooked. The chicken flavor reminds me of how malay/indo chicken is made which is odd because this was a mexican joint. The french fries and mac were standard, solid and did the job. The dinner roll was also good and complimented the plate (a bit small but that's alright), you have a choice of a tortilla as well. We tried to get out of the line but we had a car behind us. So, I just decided to get the two piece chicken campero meal. To my surprise the meal was served in separate items.. one little box for the chicken, one little container for the side and the cold, hard bread was wrapped with plastic, such a disappointment ! My husband ordered 6 piece chicken nuggets which they looked like an inch size chicken balls, such a joke! We were both hungry so I ate the two pieces of chicken before the movie. The taste was actually good, however, minutes after I finished it, I got a little upset stomach but nothing too bad. We continued to watch the movie with popcorn, soda and I had a bite of the plantines side order from Camperos. Something about them that I couldn't finish them. By the end of the movie, I had to rush to the restroom and had the runs. All day Sunday was sick with constant diarrhea and woke up today feeling the same. Today I was on my way home and somehow Pollo Campero popped up in my view on Map Quest. I was like... what do we have here. I know "Pollo" means chicken in Spanish. El Pollo Loco is Mexico originated where Pollo Campero is Guatemala originated. Anyway, I decided to walk inside instead of going through drive-thru. I also needed to use the ladies room (very clean). This was my first time visiting a Pollo Campero. After reviewing the menu, I went with one 3 piece meal that comes with 2 legs + 1 thigh + 2 sides + 1 roll or 2 tortillas... I chose campero rice and cole slaw and roll. I aslo got one 4 piece meal that comes with 1 breast + 1 wing + 1 leg + 1 thigh + 2 sides + 1 roll or 2 tortillas... I chose yucca fries, mac & cheese, and 2 tortillas. The price difference between the two meals is $4.40. I was like... for 1 more piece of chicken, it will cost me $4.40 more... hmmm, is that a better deal or not? Well, it depends on how badly I wanted that breast and/or wing LOL... that was the determining factor! I was surprisingly amazed on how tasty and moist the fried chicken was at my first bite. I loved it! Very yummy! Eat it while it's hot! As for the sides, my #1 favorite is the yucca fries (interestingly solid... you get 8 sticks), #2 is campero rice (fluffy, but could use a bit more seasoning), #3 is mac & cheese (smooth and rich), and #4 is cole slaw (too much mayonnaise). The roll and tortillas tasted okay and they were a tad on the miniature side IMHO. Staff was super friendly and pleasant. Service was very quick because immediately right after I paid for my order, it was ready. But then again, I was the only person in line at the time. Prices were on the higher end IMHO. Upon entering, there was a post on the door says law enforcement gets 50% off and luckily I always carry it. The interior decore reminds me of Del Tacos restaurants. A 4 piece meal with Cole slaw, sweetened plantain, and an empanada were ordered at the counter. A number placard was placed by the table and the food was brought over. The fried chicken was delicious; not too salty and not dry at all. It also came with corn tortillas and they don't break easily. The empanda was fried and it was delicious. The drinks were mehhh, the typical horchata and Jamaica which were too sweet for my taste buds. Overall, it was a good experience. Since the restaurant isn't really self served, speedy table cleaning could mean the Overall appareance of the dinning area. Because chicken is one of my favorite protein, I was happy to see another fast food chicken restaurant. After my visit here tonight, not very happy anymore. Order 12 piece meal, half fried, half grilled, sides were rice, mash potatoes Coleslaw, and an empenada meal with fries. There was some good, some bad with my meal. Fried chicken 4/5, decent, good flavor. Grill chicken 1/5, slightly charred, overcooked, extremely dry for legs & thighs. Coleslaw 2/5, served warm, savory, not sweet, vinegar overpowering. Rice 4/5, nice flavor, above average. Mash potatoes 2/5, flavorless, makes you wonder if it's instant Mash potatoes? French Fries 1/5, cold, wilted and greasy. Empenada, 5/5, awesome crust, was super crispy & flakey, filling had great flavor. Now it's understandable that the food was slightly below average at best, but maybe being newly opened, overwhelmed with customers, going through growing pains, will come back in a month or two and order the exact same meal, we'll see if there's any improvement. 3 stars from me today. read more

Nothing home to write home about. The mash - was my favorite of the sides. The gravy is mixed in it. The dinner rolls were individually wrapped and nice and warm. The parking lot is tight and the drive through is in a bad place. The drive thru entrance is right at the corner of Arrow and Azusa. If you're parked by the drive thru entrance, you'll likely end up being blocked in like me. Typically that would be fine; however, the drive-thru line wraps through the parking lot and makes it very difficult to actually park or get out of your parking spot if you are ordering in-store. So far it's not a great first impression for this new location. It's been 30 minutes waiting for a 4 piece meal. The employees are slow and take forever to get your order. Poor management flow. By the time I got my chicken it was cold due to packing while waiting for the hot sides. I've had this chicken before at other locations and I know it's tasty but I won't return to this specific location due to their ineptitude. Parking a sparce with about 10 tight spaces with no drive thru option today, they have a red cone to not use the drive thru. Probably because they can't get orders out fast enough. Today was the 1st time I've ever visited this establishment and they had problems from the start. 1. They opened 4 minutes late. 2. They don't honor their special they have on their app at the store register, I had to step away from the register and purchase the 20 piece dark meat only special via their app to receive the $10 discount. 3. Their app gave me error messages, sorry I didn't take snapshots of them, but upon, supposedly completing the order, I had to check with the clerk to verify the order went through, and fortunately it did. However, the order required an additional 25 minutes to prepare. 4. The clerk was harassing me verbally using numbers, i.e., 22 pieces for $47 and some change, when no such order was on their menu. 5. As I was waiting for my order, the clerk was kind enough to give me a free drink, but I just got water from the fountain, no soda. 6. After receiving my order and returning home, the chicken was cold, so I heated two of them back up and found them to rubbery in texture and the taste just okay; from a scale 1-10, I give them a 6 for taste and 5 because of their rubbery texture.
