For the price I would think they would put at least some carne asada so u can taste something other than fries and rice. Had high hopes but don't think I'd be willing to spend that kind of money for rice and French fries burrito again

Say nice things about Highland? It's landlocked, that's for sure! But, they do have some outstanding family-owned Mexican restaurants scattered about, and every one of them is unique in their style. Juanitos is in an older shopping strip on Palm near 5th, so it's easily accessible from the 210 Freeway. Parking is surprisingly dense but there's space further out there. Inside it's a divided section for ordering and waiting, and a largish dining room with TVs. I watched the men's freestyle Olympics figure skating as I waited and ate. It seemed like every time I lowered my head to take a bite someone messed up their routine and I only saw the wobble or knee touch afterwards. But what tasty bites they were! My order was broad enough for a good sample size, and after experiencing their spicy duo of salsas with the provided tortilla chips, i was primed for the street tacos. I couldn't really decide which was best as all four meats were excellent (carne asada, al pastor, chicken, and carnitas). Each was loaded enough to dump a portion onto the second tortilla and allowed me to compare the salsas with each type. Eighth mini tacos essentially. Without rice and beans, it was comfortably full and eager to go back soon for another round or two. Burrito or nachos? Or birria tacos? My other favorite thing was that made-to-order agua fresca, their pepito limon. I got the smaller size but it was sufficient and very delicious. I'll try another flavor next time for sure. Anyhow, excellent food and a good place for lunch or dinner if you're going to the Casino or heading up to the mountains.

Never mind that there's no tasajo or cecina on offer. The tlayuda was puddle of melted jack cheese. I elected for the bland under-salted asada in hopes that it would be a suitable approximation. No dice. Without the Oaxaca cheese, it just tasted bland and fatty. No amount of the salsa they had in the squirt bottles could save my meal. I'd normally crush a tlayuda and waddle out of a Oaxacan joint uncomfortably full. Here I scraped a fist sized wad of jack cheese off in an attempt to save my meal, ate about 1/3 of it, chucked the rest in the trash, and left. The tacos arrived cold, with little meat, and were bland. One star for being generous with the avocados on everything!

First time trying Juanito's Tacos and I was impressed. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The carnitas tacos were excellent, and the al pastor had really good flavor as well. The green sauce was one of my favorite parts -- flavorful with a nice kick but not overly spicy. Service at the counter was also great and welcoming. Overall, a really solid taco spot and I'll definitely be coming back.

This little restaurant serves amazing food and great aguas frescas! The service is always friendly and the food is made fresh to order. It's not every day that you can find somewhere that makes amazing taquitos de papa, but Juanito's does just that! They have a pretty expensive menu, and next on my list to try is their quesabirria tacos. Their salsas are also delicious and spicy! The restaurant is located in a large shopping center with other food establishments, but the parking lot is big and usually not an issue. The restaurant itself, although fairly small, has a good amount of seating.

Small Pork Fries, bean tostada, chips and salsa

Used to come all the time when I worked at a school near by. Moved to a different state but recently moved back to town. It's still great!! Glad to see it's still open. Seems like every good place is being closed down. Of course there is Rosa Maria's, but Juanita's offers a much different flavor and different vibe. The salsa is wonderful and the flavors are all great. It's all homemade so it can vary on flavor by the day, which I like! I like that it taste homemade. It is a family restaurant and that makes it all the better. The employees are all very nice and definitely care about their customers. I'll be back weekly, as usual.

We found this place by accident, after dinner next door and on the way to get some dessert. Passed this place and the aroma was amazing. So after the dessert place we came back to this restaurant and ordered some to go because we can't eat anymore. Since that day we came to this place 3-4 times. I love the cheese enchiladas and taco biria. I will soon come back for different dishes. The staff are top notch kind and friendly and helpful. Parking not a problem

Delicious green chicken enchiladas plate. The rice and beans are flavorful. The beans are creamy and seasoned. The green sauce is a little bit spicy. So if you're sensitive to spice, just don't order it. The star of the show was the Birria Mulitas. They were huge! These are not the street taco size tortillas. The Birria was tender and moist. The beef just melted on your tongue. The flavors were exceptional in every way. Please don't forget the consommé, because it just adds an extra knockout of flavors when you do the dip. Also, the restaurant is great about additions/substitutions. They have always gotten my order correct. The drinks were phenomenal. We had the pineapple, spinach, lime agua fresca and the lemonade con chia. This is one of our favorite Mexican places to go to, because we know the food is going to be good, fresh, and hot. You're never going to get something different each time you order it. It's going to look and taste the same each and every time. Consistency keeps customers coming back, and this place excels in that area. FYI...I now love their red and green salsas. They are delicious! I was trippin' on my other review.

Tried both red pozole, green pozole and a bowl of menudo this morning for breakfast. Each one had spice, plenty of meat and was full of flavor! Friendly, knowledgeable staff and clean facility. We went home stuffed and satisfied! read more

This place did not disappoint!! Tried their California burrito and it was delicious! Also had the cucumber agua fresca and I'm not lying when I say this was probably THE BEST agua fresca I've ever had. They don't make the drink until you order it and it was worth the $5 for sure. Their prices here are very reasonably priced as well and the staff was friendly. I will definitely be back again to try more of their menu! read more

Pricey but really, really good. This is the best mexican food in Redlands (besides someone's grandma's house) period. The shrimp burrito is on another level and taco Tuesday is legit. Not much seating so, in most occasions, this is a order to go kind of spot, but you won't be disappointed read more

First time trying the macho burrito wit pastor. while big, it taste like a veggie burrito, stuffed with lettuce, pico and guacamole didn't see any rice hardly saw or tasted beans and pastor. The double wrapped tortilla was to much to bite into. Overall very underwhelming do not recommend! I will stick to a pastor bean rice and cheese burrito which is far superior, also featured in picture are the chorizo tacos, highly recommended! My mother ordered the two shredded beef taco plate and received chicken tacos instead which she is allergic to so that was very pleasant as well! read more

Another hole-in-the-wall restaurant! My cousins introduced me to this place and took me to try it out. Glad we did! It was really good. Food - I got the carnitas taco and buche taco. The carnitas taco was really good! The meat was crunchy and really tasty. Better than most carnitas tacos I've had. The buche taco was really good as well. Really soft and tender. Chewy and tasty. Both are highly recommended! I also really liked the fact that they provide you green sauce, red sauce, complimentary chips, guac, lime, and radish with your tacos. Service - Nice service! They personally deliver you your food along with the sauces, chips, guac, lime, and radish when you dine-in. Ambience - Really open space restaurant. Price - The tacos range from $1.75 -$3.00 depending on what kind of tacos you get. The carnitas taco was $1.75 and the buche taco was $1.90. Tacos are of typical street taco size. Decent pricing cause they really fill the tacos with meat and everything. Will be returning! read more

Juanito's Tacos is my local Mexican Taco place. I used to love this place so much but it's been several of times now that they mess up on my order and my families. I have the tendency of not checking because I've always placed a phone order. But just today I heard my husband place a order or 5 tacos Alpastor con todo and we got them plain, he ordered a torta de Alpastor and had chicken pieces mixed in there. Excellent communication over the phone, asked for well done carne Asada, and it was perfect. I suggest over the phone ask for extra salsa, limes and grilled jalipoes before you pick up. I only have a half hour lunch break and I waiting 7 minutes to get all my extras. Love this place tho read more

This is the best place in Highland and Redlands area for Mexican food - hands down! I order from here all the time from Postmates. I have also gone to the restaurant to pick up food that I have ordered over the phone. The portions are large, the pricing is CHEAP, and the food is delicious! My only complaint are the salsa choices are not very impressive. Roja or Verde, both taste very plain and do not necessarily have a good flavor. I usually settle for the Verde salsa, but it's exactly that, I'm settling for it instead of excited to eat it. However the food itself is flavorful and delicious! I have three "go-to" meals - cheese enchiladas, potato hard tacos, or one of the breakfast burritos. All are delicious. My wife's "go-to" meals are carnitas soft tacos and chicken enchiladas - she loves them both! TIPS/ADVICE: For the Restaurant Staff: 1. Please consider more salsa options. A chunky salsa option would be great! 2. Please consider adding dessert options - rice pudding, flan, churros - something sweet. For customers: 1. This place is usually busy and it takes a while for the food to be prepped. If you are going to go in and pick up, I recommend placing a phone order before heading down to save time on waiting in the lobby. If you are ordering from Postmates, I highly recommend ordering your food ahead of time. There have been many times that it has taken about an hour to get my delivery during lunch and dinner hours. 2. If you are placing your order on Postmates, DO NOT PLACE YOUR ORDER CLOSE TO CLOSING. They close at 8pm on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and they close at 9pm on Friday and Saturday - I have had my deliveries cancelled more than once when I placed my order 30 minutes before closing. 3. We decided to try this place because we had been craving good Tacos and we were not disappointed. Where to begin... to start, the staff was friendly and helpful with their reccomendations. We ordered an all meat burrito, bean and cheese burrito, carne asada torta, 6 tacos (2 asada, 2 pastor and 2 carnitas), 2 hard shredded beef tacos and one ground beef taco. (I wanted potatoes but they were out, so just picked the gb randomly). Everything was amazing. Without even charging us they gave us a small side of Guacamole. And they gave us salsa, radishes, limes and napkins Without us having to ask. Taco was nice and crispy and delicious. Soft tacos were amazing. Carnitas was the beat. The best part were the hard tacos. They weren't the typical rock hard tortilla shell that you can get sometimes, they were crispy, but also light and flakey. They quickly became by far my favorite tacos. And to top it off, the price is great. Please come and give them a try (they are fixing their bathrooms at the moment so there may be a weird smell, but don't let it worry you. The food is amazing!!.) Also, food was so good, no time for pictures. Update: just ate here again on 11/17... sooooo good. Got a watermelon drink that was basically the best thing I've ever had. read more

Asada is always on point! Lots of flavor, meat and no fat!!!! We usually get there asada all meat burritos and have NEVER been disappointed! I just wish they were more conveniently located to my house or that I could get delivery this far. Lol read more

The onions and green peppers were partially cooked super crunchy... Yuck... I gave a rating of 2 instead of 1 because the hostess who sat us, our server and bus person were pleasant and my white sangria was meh but tolerable... Summary... Will I return to any of these restaurants... that is a solid and hard no! Definitely not worth the money...

I ordered a little bit of almost everything: asada street tacos, a bean and cheese burrito, beans and rice, an asada mulita, an al pastor sope, and a quesabirria. Prices were reasonable, and I spent under $50 for the whole spread. Food came out in about 15 minutes and was packed neatly. The disappointment started once I got home. There was no salsa in the bags, which already put us at a disadvantage. Only then did I realize there's apparently a salsa bar inside along with a small seating area, something you don't see from the front order window. Had I known that, I would've grabbed what we needed before leaving. Then we opened the tacos and realized they came completely plain... no onion, no cilantro, nothing. Just tortillas and meat. Not exactly what I expected. Visually, everything else looked fine, so I was hoping the flavor would make up for it... but it didn't. Everything tasted bland, like the seasoning took the night off. The only thing I halfway enjoyed was the beans and rice, and my family felt the same way. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the crowds I always see, but everything tasted like tortillas, meat, and cheese... and not much else. I'll give them credit for fair pricing and quick service, but that's about it. I really wish the cashier had mentioned that the tacos come plain or pointed me toward the salsa setup. The crunch roll (one step above the most basic roll) tasted like the panko was old (either that or the oil used was terribly old). The eel was decent, and I think the scallops are making my stomach hurt rn. This place has come a long way, and not in a good way. You can tell it's about to shut its doors any day soon. Whoever Mr lee is could give a rats ass about this establishment. Atleast under Mr yu it was running well, inviting and decent enough to be called a restaurant. Clearly the result of greedy/stinginess. Can't tell which is more dominant here but I can tell you this much, I'll never come back.

This thing was loaded with juicy shrimp and flavorful, marinated al pastor pork, mixed with rice, fresh pico de gallo, crisp cabbage, and a sauce that brought it all together. The smoky, slightly spicy al pastor paired with the tender shrimp made every bite pop, and the tortilla held strong despite the generous filling. I went with a Melon Agua Fresca on the side, and it was a perfect match--light, refreshing, and just sweet enough to cool things down after the burrito's bold flavors. Never had a bad meal here. And I've been there probably over 100 times (I live a couple of blocks away). Prices are very reasonable. They did have to remove their seating inside as they do not have a public accessible restroom, so it is take out only these days. I stopped phoning in my orders a couple of years ago when I realized that they only take the order over the phone but don't seem to actually start making it until I show up and pay...so there is no time saved there. If you like chile verde, I highly recommend their chile verde fries or burrito. It is the best I've ever had. read more
