I was in the area and based on previous reviews I had breakfast. This is a no nonsense cafe with the a reasonably priced menu. My husband has a mega plate which came with ham, bacon, sausage Pattie's, eggs, hash browns and choice of side. Of course he chose pancakes. I had the chorizo scramble with tortillas for my side. Both meals were large and delicious. Several wait staff came by to refill coffee and ask if we alright. If you're in the neighborhood it is an OK place. The price and food are about equal. There were things I liked, and things I didn't like so much. I'll talk about the things I didn't like first. Granted, one and a half people were not enough for a Saturday morning crowd. The half was a very pleasant girl who tried her best to help out. She did an OK job. The "main man" was a whirling dervish. He was everywhere - but possibly moving so quickly he didn't hear what was said to him. I asked for over easy eggs and got scrambled. I asked for extra crispy hash browns and got just cooked. I often judge a new place by their chicken fried steak ... this was a patty dipped in batter. I would never order it again. Then again, I've had some of the best in the state - you may find it OK. The gravy was a mix with little or no flavor. I used a lot of pepper. What I found good was the prices. Not cheap, cheap but reasonable. The bacon was tasty. I liked the biscuits. The portions were adequate. The "lunch-room" atmosphere was fine, maybe a little sparse in decorations. Bottom line - nothing to rave about yet not a "bad" experience. It isn't so much I wouldn't go back as I know of several places in Garland I'd rather spend my money. Waiting longer, called about 10 times and got the same tone. Decided to drive there and order in person and was told a 40 MINUTE WAIT FOR TO-GO BREAKFAST FOOD. The restaurant is seat yourself and the staff was somewhat friendly. The menu has a lot of options and the prices are very good, not expensive at all. The food was OK, it could have been seasoned more, but for the price it was decent. I order the scramble with pancakes. The portion size was huge and I was very pleased. We finally decided to say something and ask where was our food, we had to get up and find someone to help us. none of the staff apologized nor tried to fix the problem. Our waitress caught an attitude with us when we had every right to be frustrated that our food was not even being made and it had been already an hour. Also, none of the staff was apologizing or helping us. Mind you they weren't even short staffed. Our waitress told us " do we want to eat or not " .
