    Mega Plate

What can I say? This is the type of restaurant that Yelp is made for! This is a hole-in-the-wall but it has the things that matter! Good pancakes, large portions, and good customer service! It tastes like someone's grandparents are in the kitchen cooking and it just feels like you live in a small town where everyone knows each other by first name when you walk in. If you don't mind an old school ambience, old style cups/plates, & great food.... Then this is the place for you! Give it a try you won't regret it! Ok now bye bye then

On a Monday morning they weren't busy so everything was fresh and fast. The service was a wonderful start a to weekday morning. A good, quiet place to enjoy your coffee and breakfast!

Super mega plate! Hands down my favorite breakfast spot!

Great breakfast and friendly staff! I highly recommend their breakfast to all my friends and family!

Garland Cafe is a nice little place to get breakfast. The food does not take too long to prepare and it's pretty alright. I personally enjoy ordering their Veggie Omelette plate.

Everything we ordered for breakfast was absolutely delicious. Omelette, grits , French toast. Every bite was like I was tasting it for the very first time. Foodie award

I was in the area and based on previous reviews I had breakfast. This is a no nonsense cafe with the a reasonably priced menu. My husband has a mega plate which came with ham, bacon, sausage Pattie's, eggs, hash browns and choice of side. Of course he chose pancakes. I had the chorizo scramble with tortillas for my side. Both meals were large and delicious. Several wait staff came by to refill coffee and ask if we alright. So in summary it might not be much to look at but I will definitely be back when I'm close by.

This place was highly recommended by the local folks, and local knowledge is always welcome when I'm traveling and trying to avoid chains. The tables don't accommodate small groups, and you seat yourself. I felt awkward sitting at a table for six all by my lonesome, but I am in the lone star state, so hey, don't mess with me! It took a minute to get a waitress to take my order, after I initially turned her down immediately after sitting down. I guess they're used to folks (regulars?) knowing what they want immediately. They serve breakfast all day in this simply decorated establishment, so I ordered the Santiago omelette with a side of grits. The food took about five minutes to show up, it was hot, and while it wasn't going to win presentation points, it was delicious! The grits were perfect with some butter, salt, and pepper, and the scramble was equally good with the salsa.just nowhere near enough sausage... One pet peeve for any business: if you are not willing to share your wifi, do not name it the same as the business! That just encourages people to ask for the password and puts your employees in the awkward position of having to say, "no."

    Crazy chicken wrap.. awful

We had went to Garland Cafe about 2 years ago and it was ok.. then 8 or 9 months ago was awful. So today we thought we could try it again. Same crap.. I had wanted a grilled chicken wrap. It took like 25 minutes and it was breaded. The soda was flat, my wife did not like the chicken like tire... will NEVER come back..

Quiet. Accessible. And affordable. Also fast and friendly service. It gets 5 stars. I ordered the chicken fried steak meal. It was delicious!

Well, talk about a hidden gem. I had this place bookmarked but could not tell you where I heard…read moreabout it. It is basically a little luncheon oasis dropped right in the middle of a gigantic industrial park. On the drive over I was seriously questioning my Yelp choices. It is that kind of location. But trust Yelp and sometimes you are handily rewarded, which we absolutely were. We came after a few hours strolling around at the Botanical Gardens, so we rolled in around 1:30 and there were still plenty of people there. I can only imagine at noon this place is packed, and honestly it should be. My biggest complaint is the menus. There is one above the counter that does not include everything, and then a different, more complete version if you scan the QR code at the table (But 2 different navigations even on the website with slightly different menus). Do yourself a favor and look it up ahead of time so you are not standing there making panic decisions. There is a half sandwich and half soup combo (Not on the board but online menu), which is definitely the move. I got the pozole, which you should absolutely order, and a half grilled cheese on their housemate sourdough. Normally not my go to, but I was trying not to be completely stuffed since we had dinner plans. And they bake their own sourdough, so I had a strong feeling it would be great, and it delivered. Toasty and melty, American and cheddar. My husband got the southwestern wrap, and my friend went with the half club and half tomato soup. She immediately regretted not getting the pozole and the half birria sandwich, which tells you everything you need to know. Also need to mention the snickerdoodle. Not much to look at, kind of humble, but it completely makes up for it with flavor and that perfect soft texture. Go ahead and get the cookie. You are not here to make responsible decisions. Bottom line, it may feel like you are driving into the middle of nowhere, but keep going. This place is worth it.

This is exactly the kind of hole in the wall lunch spot you'll miss if you're not paying attention…read more I literally drove past it twice before realizing it was right there. It's also one of those "if you know, you know" places, and clearly people know, because the to-go orders were nonstop. The second you walk in, you're hit with cases of fresh baked bread, and pastries. The almond pistachio croissant was the biggest one I've ever seen and had me drooling before I even placed my order. It is counter service, and I went with a Mediterranean sandwich with chicken while my lunch date got a classic BLT. Both were incredible, super fresh ingredients, excellent flavor, and next level fresh bread/ flatbread. Try the sourdough ! You can tell this place is legit because you see everyone in there from construction workers, people, in scrubs, law-enforcement, executives, all grabbing lunch. When that many hard-working people trust a spot, you know it's got to be good. If you're in Garland, add this place to your must try list. It is an excellent lunch spot.

And even then it took us a few years to finally drop in and give this place a try. Not sure if this is the first or second restaurant in this location since the changeover. So finally today we stopped in. The inside was much larger than I expected it to be. It was very fresh and clean on the inside. The inside had a little bit of a 1950's vibe with its light turquoise padded booths and chairs. Along with fresh clean walls and similar tones of turquoise, it was a very refreshing visit. The restaurant was sort of divided into two sections. The main dining area and a smaller area on the side with mexican sweets, sweet breads etc. It is a nice little area to come for coffee and a treat for breakfast. They also have bread and tortillas for purchase. I ordered the fried tilapia and grilled veggies. The tilapia was very good but I didn't care for the veggies. Also came with rice. There was a lot of food on that plate and the piece of fish was big too!!! The prices were good. Staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely be going back.

I like to eat in nice surroundings and in a descent neighborhood. However, from what I read about THIS food, it made me change my mind. Not in a great neighborhood and in an old strip mall, we seated ourselves. I think at one time this place was nice but now it needs freshening up. But none of that matters now after the food experience that we had. We started with the rich and delectable Roasted Poblano Cream Soup. Oh man, oh man, oh man - my friends, this is a must try. But that was nothing compared to the next dish of Signature Pollo Sazon. Description from the menu: Chicken breast stuffed with chorizo, poblano peppers, and queso Oaxaca, cornmeal breading, pan-seared and laced with a house ancho chile honey sauce. Folks, there were so many flavors going on, I don't even have the words to describe the deliciousness. And what a beautiful presentation! I will definitely try this place again and again.

The walls are sparsely adorned with a few drawings, a handful of license plates, and an American flag hanging from shower curtain loops. There were snowflakes on the wall that I was not sure if they were leftover from a Christmas past, or wishful thinking on a hot July day. Oddly, they did not seem out of place... But as we all know, the soul of a place is not in its decor, but rather in its people. The people here make this place. This place defines the phrase "down-home". The patrons are all intertwined into each others conversations down to everyone in the place saying "amen" after someone quietly says grace over their meal. Then, after grace and "amen's the conversations all resume. Here, there is no typical customer, the place is filled with all backgrounds...a table of people on their way to church, another table with officers ( who were applauded when the walked in), a table of folks who had partied all night, and me, just a Yelper trying a new place, to get another review and a few more photos under my belt. Nothing binding us all together except the pleasure of each others company in a place that fosters the ability to do so. That to me is an ambiance I will take over gilded gold furnishings any time! I ordered the make your own breakfast special. What a concept, let the customer decide what they want, not what you choose to pair up together for them. It certainly worked for me this morning! My choice was Eggs over medium, Bacon, Hash browns, and Pancakes. Everything was pretty darn good. The service was fine. Not over the top, but friendly and efficient. No complaints here!
