Authentic Mexican food in the middle of Costa Mesa. You feel like you seriously walked into a restaurant in Mexico City. Munson got the chicken enchiladas and I got two chorizo tostadas which came to $28. Food was abundant but to be honest I was surprised with the bill since the tostada were less than $3 each so the enchiladas had to be $22. It wasn't listed but they only had a picture. The cashier didn't seems to speak English so is didn't question it. Food was 4/5. Ambiance is 2/5 so overall I think it's a good experience. You know it's a traditional Mexican joint since they don't have any burritos on the menu;) except for breakfasts burrito.

The worst driest biónico I've ever had

Not your average biónico! It sucks!! A biónico should have yogurt/ creme. This is what I got.

Salsa bar! Don't look for cheap pico here!

Today is Mexican Independence Day, so we decided to have lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Originally, we were going to eat at El Toro Bravo (at the back of the lot), but they got rid of their tables. So we walked down to Jugos Acapulco. Good decision. Real Mexican music. We were surrounded by Mexican patrons. We ordered three different plates: chili relleno, flautas, and a torta. My chili relleno was massive. (I cannot verify this, but I swear they buy their chili rellenos at El Toro Bravo.) It was delicious. 9/10. My wife ordered the flautas plate. 8/10. My son ordered a torta. 8/10. The service was excellent. The young man who took our order spent some time explaining the menu. The ladies working the kitchen and delivering the food were dressed in Mexican dresses and were very courteous and helpful. There is ample parking and ample seating. (See my pics.) There are about ten tables inside and about eight tables out on the covered patio.

Display in the middle of an animation for whatever dumb reason.

Reading the menu is the worst. Why would you loop a video of moving words and then go black for several seconds to just do it all again? Worst menu display I have ever seen. Don't care how the food is, will never be back here. On top of that the 2 menu TVs are not in sync.

Bad service now no bueno how sad for this place full of drunk people only

Food: 3.5. Had a craving for a tamale and someone suggested this place. This is an order-at-the-cashier place. There is inside and outside tables. I ordered a pork tamale. There is a self serve condiment bar with items like salsa, radish slices, and lime wedges. After I placed my order, the cashier gave me a number on a stand to put on my table. Food came out timely. Masa part of tamale was cooked on to the corn husk. It was hard to remove the masa from the husk. Tamale was a nice size and good and, unlike many other places, there was a lot of meat. Service was efficient. Service: 3.5 Ambiance: 3.75 Value: 4

I highly recommend this place! Not only is the food amazing but also the michi ask for Fernanda, she's super sweet and helpful !

This was my first time here, I came with my boyfriend for his graduation dinner and it was so…read moregreat! All the servers were super hands on and always had chips and salsa refills. They also had tortillas which you could eat with butter that was my first time trying that. The salsa was super fresh and not spicy at all which is usually my main concern haha. The burrito was super delicious. the carnitas were cooked really well and not overdone, I added rice, sour cream, and pico de gallo to mine. I liked how you could modify it to your preference. I have to commend our server Rocky!!!! He is the best, he was super communicative to our table and always made sure to refill our water and come by with napkins without us even having to flag him down! He works super hard, was attentive to not only our table but to everyone! I saw him at every table making sure they were all being taken care of to the highest regard. To Rocky: Thank you so much, this dinner would not have been the same without you as our server. Overall super fantastic restaurant, food came out all together in a timely manner, super well made and lots of love put into their restaurant! I know lots of places in Costa Mesa have limited parking space but this restaurant had a really big lot and we were able to easily find parking. They also play sports on the TV if you want to keep up with the latest events, Everything was super clean and comfortable! I will definitely be coming back soon when I have the chance :)

My family visited Avila's in Costa Mesa to celebrate both Father's Day and my dad's birthday, and…read moreunfortunately our experience was overshadowed by the service. Throughout the meal, we felt repeatedly rushed. Plates were cleared quickly, and it seemed like we were being encouraged to leave before we had finished enjoying our celebration. The most disappointing part came when the bill arrived. Our server, Mercedes, told us that the tip was not included. After my mom paid and left an 18% tip, Mercedes again commented on the gratuity and stated that it wasn't the suggested amount. My mom had to explain that she had intentionally left the amount she felt was appropriate. We were genuinely surprised that a server would openly question a customer's gratuity, especially after receiving an 18% tip. Afterward, it also appeared that the situation was being discussed with coworkers within view of our table, which made us feel even more uncomfortable. I understand that restaurant work is demanding and everyone can have difficult days. However, no guest celebrating a special occasion should leave feeling rushed, criticized for the tip they chose to leave, or uncomfortable because of an interaction with their server. It's unfortunate because we were looking forward to celebrating a meaningful occasion as a family, and the service left a lasting negative impression. I hope management takes this feedback as an opportunity to coach staff so future guests have a better experience.

Nice little Mexican food spot located where HUB used to be. They don't advertise it on their menu…read morebut they have an unpublished kids menu that includes: grilled chicken with rice and refried beans, chicken strips with French fries or quesadilla (choice of cheese, chicken, or steak) with rice and beans. I really enjoyed the puerto Nuevo enchiladas and my 4 yr old loved them too! He also nearly went face down in the flan with coconut ice cream. My son loves coconut ice cream but now he also loves flan! They have a cool decor in the restaurant and it's very modern. There's a bathroom at the end and they have high chairs if you need them. Service was great and we'd come back again.

genuinely confused how this place has 4 stars? the menu is beyond overpriced. not to mention, when…read morethe check came, they tried to charge 3 of our items at a higher price than what was listed on the menu. how does that even happen? i ordered a mango mocktail and received watered down orange juice. my sister and dad ordered alcoholic drinks and couldn't even taste a hint of liquor. it took well over 20 minutes to even be asked what we wanted to drink (btw there was only 3 other groups in the whole restaurant, and 2 of those groups were only groups of 2) when the food came, the portions i received were unbelievably small. i tried to make my own burritos out of rice and beans and i received a plate that was smaller than my phone that was the side of rice and beans together. not rice and beans in seperate dishes that are smaller than my phone. both of them TOGETHER in a dish smaller than my phone. absolutely ridiculous. i always try my best to be open minded and understanding when im at restaurants, but this was absolutely unacceptable. PLEASE save your hard-earned money. this establishment does not deserve it.

My Wife wanted me too add in her thoughts too because I did't on the Google Review... LOL…read more We came out here for Sunday Brunch on Mother's Day and it was one of the BEST MOTHER'S DAY BRUNCHES we have celebrated in years. The food was excellent [wife loved the Elote Corn], the drinks were amazing, the service was on point [Wife said Manny was the best and his dancing is the best entertainment], but what made the experience so enjoyable was the patio atmosphere. I guess they just recently started having DJ's on the patio for Sunday Brunch and the 2 DJ's that I spoke to really quick, Brandon and Jensen were absolutely amazing [Wife said, they used to DJ the Saturday Brunch at the Country Club that her and her friends loved, and the 3rd DJ Matt, Brandon's Brother, they used to DJ Friday Nights at Memphis Cafe]. They played the biggest range of music from Salsa to Reggaeton, 80's New Wave to 90's R&B, 2000's Hip Hop, the whole MJ era with cool house remixes and even a little bit of reggae. If you were a kid that grew up in the 80's and 90's they take you on the most amazing musical journey that just brings back a ton of good memories. And to top it off, seeing the servers dancing and enjoying themselves with the greatest attitudes makes this one of OC's Hidden Gems for sure. Definitely going back there for sure! Cheers, JW + Wifey

LOVE this place for GREAT, FRESH, Coastal, Mexican food!…read moreThis location in Costa Mesa in particular, has been updated (new paint, new chairs, new lighting, etc.) and they have updated their menu with even MORE, Seafood items! They make GREAT Guacamole, customized at table side to your specs and their FRESH Chips, Tortillas and Salsa's are homemade in the restaurant. Husband LOVES their Pomegranate Margherita's and I can't get enough of their Enchilada's (Cheese, Chicken) and their Crunchy Taco's (Shredded Beef is my Fave!). Add in that their FRESH, Side Salads are AMAZING along with their new menu items - including Seafood combo's and there is no where else to go in OC for better Mexican food! Our INCREDIBLE Server, Hector (He IS the Acapulco restaurant - always upbeat and advising us about their new menu items!) and their FANTASTIC Chef Hector and all of the other Servers and Cooks there, make this a casual, yet special date-night restaurant! P.S. We've also tried their EXCEPTIONAL, Sunday Buffet and literally had to almost be wheeled out of there, there were SO MANY DIFFERENT, AUTHENTIC foods to choose from and sample! My server was very friendly and brought me chips and salsa about 5 minutes after I sat down. The salsa was really good by the way. They provided a good amount of "fixings." I'm partial to fajitas in Texas. but besides that, I really enjoyed this spot and can't wait to come back to try more of their menu!
