I've been to this plaza a few times and have seen Hungry Boy Thai Cafe. After seeing how good their reviews were, I finally decided to try it out! They have a fast casual set up where you order at the counter and when your food is ready, someone will bring it to your table. Their menu is pretty simple and straightforward. They have Stir Fries, Curry, Noodle Soups, and Soups, and you can choose the type of protein you want: veggies, tofu, chicken, beef, shrimp, bbq pork, chicken satay, or fried chicken, each at different price points. We got a Pad See Ew with Chicken, and it was tasty! There was a decent amount of broccoli in it. They also ask you what spice level you want. We ordered mild, and it had a slight kick to it. We also tried their new menu item, Thai Basil Eggplant. It comes with ground chicken, bell peppers, onions, and jasmine white rice. I ordered mild spice level as well, but it wasn't as spicy as the Pad See Ew. It was still very flavorful and definitely goes well with the rice. It came out piping hot! We get takeout regularly from Hungry Boy and have been since 2021. Tonight, there was a different person (a man) working who was rude about us coming in at 8:15 for takeaway when they close at 9. They also didn't give us our hot sauce. The man already put the sauce that's out away. They also didn't mark the spice levels on the containers like they usually do. Hungry Boy is usually a 5/5, but tonight's experience was not great. I don't want to stop patronizing Hungry Boy so am writing this review in hopes of Hungry Boy seeing this. If you want quick casual Thai food this is your spot. It's one of those spots where you order at the front and then find a table. It's not very big either but there is usually not much a wait when I go. The portions are amazing first of all, especially to go, and the food comes out super fresh. I really like the pad Thai here (kinda soupy with the sauce but that just means more sauce). Overall it's a solid spot and I really enjoy coming here to satisfy that craving. read more

Fried rice with beef at level 2 (out of 5) spice was a hit with my parents. It definitely tasted like a Thai fried rice, but I'm only basing it from fried rice I've had from Thai Spice haha. It had a kick and a slight sweetness to it. Drunken noodles with chicken at level 3 (out of 5) spice was tasty. Quite spicy for me, but my parents were able to handle and enjoy it. I did like the wide noodles and the flavor. Fried chicken (appetizer only, no rice) at no spice was kinda bland. I feel like food can still be flavorful without being spicy...but this was essentially unseasoned batter on an unseasoned boneless skinless chicken thigh, and for $7.50? Yikes. Not something I'd get again for that price. Tom kha with chicken at no spice was unfortunately too sweet for me. It wasn't sugary, but it could've been more savory and limey. The creaminess was fine, but I wanted to add salt and lime juice after trying the broth. It didn't come with rice, but I appreciated the amount mushrooms and chicken in it. Seemed like a fast casual restaurant, where you order at the register and find a seat if you want to dine in. The lady who took my order was friendly, patient, and informative. The gentleman who brought out my order was a bit standoffish. There was a fly on the spoon for one of the condiments, which grossed me out, so I didn't grab anything from the condiment cart. I have mixed feelings about this place. We were nearby at Eco Town and wanted something quick and easy for lunch, so after seeing the high Yelp ratings, we decided to give it a try. We ordered online--ginger rice chicken and pad see ew. One thing that stood out was the extra $2 charge just to add protein, which felt unusual since most Thai restaurants typically include it. Our total came out to about $36, including an overly sweet Thai tea. For the price, the portions felt a bit underwhelming. The pad see ew in particular was lacking in veggies, which made it feel even less worth it. On top of that, customer service was pretty much nonexistent. I frequent this location because it's close to my work, and I usually order the chicken curry or the shrimp curry with rice. I like that you can choose brown or white rice, and their curry is always so flavorful. The bell peppers are cooked in so well and add a lot to the dish. I also really enjoy their fried chicken wings. Customer service usually is not an issue, and overall the food is consistently good. Inside is pretty clean and managed well. However, on our last visit, we ordered online and ran into a really frustrating issue. They still have a website up that is not even active, so we were under the impression that we had placed and paid for our order successfully. When I got there, they had no order on file, and I had to go on a scavenger hunt trying to figure out where my food was. After finally reading the website information back to them, I found out they had canceled that site. Thankfully, I did not have to call my bank, since the payment either canceled itself or never fully went through, but it was still such an inconvenience. When you are in the middle of a workday and just trying to grab food, dealing with something like that is the last thing you need. We ended up having to reorder everything over the phone and then pay in the restaurant just to avoid the hassle of using their online website again. Even though I use ChowNow every week for our normal Friday night Hungry Boy take out order, this last week, they charged me an extra 15% per item. I thought the prices had gone up. Menu is small compared to other Thai restaurants but price is reasonable and portions are generous. Came here with my family and we all enjoyed what we ordered. Spicy Basil Chicken was excellent. I ordered this at spice level 4 (out of 5) and was just right for me, although my wife said it was too spicy for her. My wife's Tom Kha noodle soup was also excellent. We both loved the taste of the broth (lemongrass, coconut milk, lime, galangal). Chicken Wings were much bigger than we anticipated and had trouble finishing them. The batter was nice and crispy, and was served with some spicy sour dipping sauce. I didn't get to try but my kids liked the Pad See Ew. In terms of taste it's not the best Thai restaurant I tried, but the quality is still very good, and it's a great value for the amount of food you get. I feel like I inadvertently stumbled across a hidden gem. The food here was so delicious that I was simply blown away! It reminded me of my Thailand trip I had just months ago - super spicy but so damn good! I got the yellow curry with grilled pork and the fried chicken itself. The chicken was so juicy and fried to perfection. The yellow curry had a good kick to it on level 3 spice. Thai people don't mess around with spice, so I would definitely say it's spicier than most other places for a "medium" spice level. I frequent the Pad Thai with BBQ Pork and add extra BBQ Pork because it's so good! Their sauce they use for the Pad Thai noodles is the right amount of citrus and creaminess that I have never had anywhere else. I actually squeeze the extra lemon on top too, I just really like citrus flavors personally. I've also tried the yellow curry with Chicken or BBQ Pork, Panang Curry with Chicken or BBQ Pork, Pad See Ew with BBQ Pork, and Tom Yum Soup. None of these dishes missed the mark! Today for my lunch run, I opted to get the Pad Thai with BBQ Pork and the flavors were hitting the spot! Overall, I have been here on numerous occasions for dine in and for takeout and the food was delicious every time! That said, they seem to be efficient with what they do as I spied quite a few people swiftly walking in & out picking up their orders and leaving. Being a newb myself I had to take a little bit more time to peruse the menu items to decide what I wanted. I finally committed to the Pad Thai with Chicken, Chicken Wings, Tom Kha Kai, Panang and the Basil Chicken. After I ordered at the counter I parked it on one of the tables in the restaurant and kindly waited for my grub. Food came out at a good pace. I tried the chicken wings first. They were crunchy and flavorful. The accompanying sweet chili dipping sauce was also nice. The Tom Kha Kai which I ordered with medium heat was just right. Not too spicy at all and pleasant with tangy Thai spices and a nice coconut flavor. The pad thai was pretty good. A bit heavy on the fish sauce for me but still very good. Picked up shrimp pad sew eww for lunch today. While on the way I called it in and it was ready for pick up. The smoky flavors were really good, thy used regular broccoli instead of the Chinese broccoli. It's good but I prefer the Chinese broccoli to give it that bitter accent which is more authentic (I think). I got the medium spice and it was pleasantly spiced. I could go hotter but I can adjust that where if I went for and it was overpowering I'm stuck. I will go back. Price wise a little steep at ~18 for lunch but that's unfortunately the norm these days.
