Pretty good I'd say! Didn't come with much expectations but their noodles were GOOD. Just wished I had more noodles in mine. Noodle stomach ftw. I loved the flavors. Thanks!

If you want quick casual Thai food this is your spot. It's one of those spots where you order at the front and then find a table. It's not very big either but there is usually not much a wait when I go. The portions are amazing first of all, especially to go, and the food comes out super fresh. I really like the pad Thai here (kinda soupy with the sauce but that just means more sauce). Overall it's a solid spot and I really enjoy coming here to satisfy that craving.

Big parking lot and clean & spacious place. You order first with nice & friendly staff. Menu is small but got varies choices. Once you're done, you sat down and they will bring poo the foods once they're done (within 5-10mins depending on the dishes). The foods are good, tasty and well made. There is a condiments table w/ to go boxes and cold water. The place is devoted w/ dishes pics and nite stall cooking in Thailand. The seating area is covered about the majority of the front part of the place with big chairs and table. Very comfy and spacious and clean w/ good vibe.

Left is fried rice with beef, right is drunken noodles with chicken (both were good, according to the parentals)

Fried rice with beef at level 2 (out of 5) spice was a hit with my parents. It definitely tasted like a Thai fried rice, but I'm only basing it from fried rice I've had from Thai Spice haha. It had a kick and a slight sweetness to it. Drunken noodles with chicken at level 3 (out of 5) spice was tasty. Quite spicy for me, but my parents were able to handle and enjoy it. I did like the wide noodles and the flavor. Fried chicken (appetizer only, no rice) at no spice was kinda bland. I feel like food can still be flavorful without being spicy...but this was essentially unseasoned batter on an unseasoned boneless skinless chicken thigh, and for $7.50? Yikes. Not something I'd get again for that price. Tom kha with chicken at no spice was unfortunately too sweet for me. It wasn't sugary, but it could've been more savory and limey. The creaminess was fine, but I wanted to add salt and lime juice after trying the broth. It didn't come with rice, but I appreciated the amount mushrooms and chicken in it. Seemed like a fast casual restaurant, where you order at the register and find a seat if you want to dine in. The lady who took my order was friendly, patient, and informative. The gentleman who brought out my order was a bit standoffish. There was a fly on the spoon for one of the condiments, which grossed me out, so I didn't grab anything from the condiment cart. Parking in the plaza lot is free, with plenty of spots available on a Sunday night. Hungry Boy Thai Cafe is right next to Eastern Tales Cafe, so if you're looking for Thai treats, this small strip mall has got you covered.

What I Ordered: Yellow Curry Drunken Noodle Spicy Basil Chicken Rice Bowl Mango Sticky Rice * a must-try fast casual Thai restaurant! * would recommend all dishes ordered (freshness and quality is consistent throughout menu) * base options for rice bowl and curry: jasmine white/brown rice or mixed veggies * protein choices for curry, stir fry, noodle soup, soup: veggies, tofu, chicken, beef, shrimp, BBQ pork, chicken satay, fried chicken * affordable prices for generous portions 9/10

    Steamed veggies. Yum!

I was really excited about this place when it first opened, which has been a while now, but I've been here a couple of times within the last couple of years, hoping that the next time is better than the last, but unfortunately it isn't.'s have been too salty too saucy not the right food sauce ratio.

I feel like I inadvertently stumbled across a hidden gem. The food here was so delicious that I was simply blown away! It reminded me of my Thailand trip I had just months ago - super spicy but so damn good! I got the yellow curry with grilled pork and the fried chicken itself. The chicken was so juicy and fried to perfection. The yellow curry had a good kick to it on level 3 spice. Thai people don't mess around with spice, so I would definitely say it's spicier than most other places for a "medium" spice level. Don't skip out on this spot, it has relatively decent prices and amazing quality food. Service was good and we got our food super quick. Would definitely recommend this spot if you're craving some good Thai eats.

I love supporting our local businesses! After my gardening gig today, I stopped by Hungry Boy in Fountain Valley and ordered the BBQ pork rice bowl and spicy basil chicken. Both were so good! And I'm Thai, so I take my basil chicken seriously.

Amazing Thai food here! I tried their shrimp fried rice, level 2 spicy, and it was super delicious! I easily finished the whole plate and was already thinking about what to order and try the next time I come. Sure enough, I placed a to-go order a few days later for a potluck and got the same shrimp fried rice plus beef pad see ew. That was also really good! Service was quick and friendly when I dined in the first time and when I placed an order over the phone. I'm eager to come back soon!

Another great meal at Hungry Boy. The chicken basil, BBQ pork over rice and pad see ew were hit, savory and delicious. The staff were friendly and service was quick. Ambiance was bright, airy and comfortable.

Came here with my Wife. Tucked within a newly revitalized shopping center in Fountain Valley, Hungry Boy stands out as a modern, counter-service Thai eatery with a fast-paced energy that suggests they've mastered efficiency. While regulars dashed in and out with practiced ease, I--new to the experience--took my time, poring over the enticing menu like a traveler choosing a path through unfamiliar but promising terrain. I ultimately embarked on a flavorful journey that included the Basil Chicken, Tom Kha Kai, Panang Curry, Chicken Pad Thai, and a side of crispy wings. After ordering at the counter, I claimed a spot at one of the sleek tables and waited with anticipation. The food arrived swiftly. First up: the wings. Golden, crisp, and satisfying, they paired beautifully with the sweet chili dipping sauce--just the right balance of heat and tang. The Tom Kha Kai, which I ordered medium-spicy, was exceptional: rich with coconut cream and punctuated with bright, aromatic Thai herbs. It delivered warmth without overwhelming heat. The Pad Thai was solid--comforting and familiar--though the fish sauce leaned a bit heavy for my personal taste. Still, it had all the hallmarks of a well-made classic. Each dish showcased a confident hand in the kitchen, respecting tradition while keeping things accessible. For a counter-order spot, Hungry Boy delivers bold, authentic Thai flavors that punch well above their weight. I'll gladly return for another round.

Where can we get catering/platter menu/?

Does Hungry Boy have Nan Prik Noom, Prik Nam Pla, and ground Thai chili powder available as table condiments? I like my Thai dishes HOT, very hot indeed.

    Yes, we do gave

Can the dishes be made vegetarian like the soup with no meat broth?

Not sure about the broth, but they are very open to modifying any dish if you request it. My hubby always substitutes extra veggies in place of rice or noodles and they are happy to do it!

The noodles had a great chewy texture, and the star of the dish was definitely the sauce. It had that classic Vietnamese-Cantonese flavor, perfectly balanced between sweet and savory, coating every bite of noodles without being too heavy. The BBQ pork was quite dry, the wontons were generously filled, and the soup on the side was clean and comforting. The steamed wontons with soy sauce were also delicious and packed with flavor. The noodles were cooked perfectly with a great chewy texture. They leaned a little on the sweeter side, but they were still really tasty. The sủi cảo were THICCCCCK in the best way possible! The wrappers had a nice bite, and the filling was juicy with that signature bouncy texture. We ended up ordering three bowls of Mì Sủi Cảo Khô, and everyone cleaned their bowls. The food was solid, but the service was pretty much nonexistent. The staff wasn't very friendly or attentive, although that's honestly something I've come to expect at a lot of places in Westminster. One thing that really stood out, though, was the condiment station. The chili oil, fresh chilies, and sauces looked dirty, and after tables were cleaned, the serving spoons and sauce dishes weren't replaced. I actually had to grab them from another table myself. Overall, I'd come back for the food because it was genuinely good, but the service and overall atmosphere could definitely use some improvement.

Luckily, it happened to be happy hour specifically for the dish I ordered, so it was $13! The dish itself was good! The sauce was creamy (the eggs made it even creamier), and dipping my fresh baguette into it was soooo yummy! I added chili oil to it though for some spice. Delicious! The side of "salad" (a small plate of lettuce and tomato slices) was also nice to have. I ate it with a lot of the pickled garlic. Definitely a filling meal. The restaurant has a lot of seating, but it can get a bit warm. We were seated near the door but were feeling the heat throughout our meal! I don't think the AC was on, and there were no fans for air circulation. Props to the workers for working in a warm environment!

They have one of the best egg noodle soups around. The broth is perfectly balanced and well seasoned, the egg noodle is well made, with generous toppings. The dry version of the egg noodle is equally delicious. You can't go wrong with either selection. I'm always surprised at their affordable prices. These days you can't really get a good bowl of noodle soup for under $18-$20. Here you can get a solid bowl for just $8 during happy hour! Whaaat?! Crazy! That is such a great price that I almost feel like I'm robbing them. LOL. During this recent visit, I wasn't too hungry so I just got a small bowl of wonton soup for just $7. It comes with 5 pieces of wontons. The only disappointing thing was that it doesn't come with one of my favorite toppings - tóc mỡ. It would've cost $2 to add it. I really wish they did include it. I also got some grilled pork skewers. Though a little soft, they were pretty delicious - nicely seasoned, flavorful, and make a great appetizer. I also love that they're open late - till 11PM!

Massive parking lot so that was easy, one friend went ahead and let them know we had 10 incoming. They made room and we sat immediately. One of the spots that you scan a menu at the table and you review, order and pay all in the app. I was really not familiar with the line up and went with the "House Special Beef Pot Roodle" (Roodles are their rice noodles). It was a weekend only item and I tried that. The noodles came separate from the soup. Over all it was very tasty. The meat was a bit fatty and the soup had tendons too. I took that part home and my wife loved it. I tend to avoid the fatty meat and tendons are not good to me. 10 of us so some of the appetizers got passed around. The smashed cucumbers are excellent, and my buddy also got some friend potatoes of sorts, reminded me of a fat French fry. Because my buddy and I sat at the same table we scanned the same menu, he ordered a bunch of stuff and also House Special Beef Pot Roodle. That confused the kitchen and they asked me if I meant to order 2, I said no and didn't realize I cancelled my buddy's order. Part of the confusion of a large party and many scanned menu orders. I ordered their most popular dish, the A1 set, but honestly, it didn't really live up to the hype for me. The broth tasted pretty underseasoned overall. From what I understood, you're supposed to mix all the toppings into the soup with the noodles, but even after doing that, I still felt like the flavor was lacking. Yes, they provide seasoning on the side, but personally, I wish the broth already had enough flavor on its own without needing to adjust it myself. Would I come back? Probably not. Nothing really stood out to me enough to return, and it felt more like a one-time experience. Overall, everything was just okay.
