This was our first time inside the bakery, so we were looking through the fridges and front cases. There were only three other customers in line ahead of us. I asked if they had any ricotta zeppoles, and the woman seemed irritated that I asked and shouted, "NO." They didn't mention whether they had run out or if it's a specialty item that they only make until St. Joseph's Day. I also noticed that they don't have prices listed for anything. The total for a regular zeppole and a bag of pizza dough came to about $9. The zeppole was tasteless and soggy. The pizza dough was equally terrible. Will most likely not return. Also note that the parking lot currently has a massive pothole near one of their entrances.

They sell fresh filled cannolis, cakes, cookies, pastries, etc. The small shop has a classic feel. On this visit, I just bought a box of cannolis. They had an option of a traditional filling, or with chocolate chips. They also had options for capping the ends. I chose chocolate chips for the chocolate chip filling, and pistachio for the traditional filling. I tried the traditional with pistachio. The shell is lighter than most of the places where I've bought cannolis. The filling was mildly sweet, very smooth and had a very slight fruit flavor. Perhaps from orange zest? In my experience, Scialo Bros is a cool place to visit and has good treats.

They offer online ordering, so there was a steady stream of customers popping in to grab their coffee and breakfast before heading off to work. Even with the morning rush, the staff kept everything moving, and the café had a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

They have a great selection that makes the whole place feel welcoming. My only minor confusion was the room with all the tables being filled with artificial plants when there are so many beautiful real ones throughout the property. It just seemed a little out of place. We ended our visit with a visit to the cows and milking barn. We were too early to see the milking process but we did walk the little trail where kids can participate in a scavenger hunt. Get supplies in the tractor mailbox at the beginning if the path. A few heifers are penned up outside the milking barn and several more were standing in front of a huge fan at the back. At 90° even the cows want a fan! There's a good amount of parking in front of and to the left of the market. Handicap spots are right by the market door. The bakery has a small parking lot with about half a dozen spots. A policeman was on duty today to direct cars to the Walgreen parking lot next door when this lot was full, and to let them in when spots were open. As the line of people waiting outside the door to get in was constant, this was very smart planning and much appreciated. Some folks seemed to know St. Joseph's Day was very busy here and had placed orders in advance. These smart shoppers skipped the line and quickly came back outside with their orders bagged up. The line moved pretty well with four shop assistants helping customers. Only about 10 guests, max, fit inside at a time. Once inside bagged breads like sandwich rolls were on shelves while calzone and other meal pastry were in a case. Then, there were three cases full of zeppola. During our visit they had chocolate, pistachio, ricotta and original available. We got one of each. I cut my first zeppola in half and see the cream filling sits all the way down into the pastry. These are firm enough to hold in your hand and bit into. The pastry is very much like that in an éclair. Firm while being light and airy. The original filling is a lovely custard. The chocolate is a fluffy cream base I believe. Both were very tasty. I have two more to try and am looking forward to them. Between these tasty pastry and other items they had for sale there, we'll be back. You should check them out too.

The prices are cheap, like 3 cookies for $1 cheap. In general, their products have much, much less sugar than American pastries and are a bit more dense. It is a refreshing change from the neighborhood's Italian bakeries. The only downside was the guy behind the counter didn't speak English well enough for me to ask lots of questions. He was nice and tried his best though!
