Anyone who's Asian and in Austin for awhile will probably tell you that this is the mom-and-pop place to go to for some noodles and dumplings. The place keeps affordable prices, and my family enjoyed their lamb soup noodles. I found their spicy beef noodle soup way too spicy for my personal tolerance, and I also found their jajangmyeon (mixed noodles) too sweet; however, I highly recommend ordering a big batch of their frozen dumplings to keep in your freezer at home. The dumpling skin is the thick kind, nice and chewy bite to it! read more

(I don't have WeChat so I can't confirm) I came to the spot after looking at options on Yelp but their display menu seemed to have very limited options and I wasn't hyped over the listed options. The lady handed over another customer's order and gave some recommendations to me as she saw my indecisiveness. I'm so glad I stuck around! Had delivery via Uber Eats so I can't comment on the atmosphere. Ordered a mix of things and all were very good. I would order from them again. 11. Dumpling Mixed Order: I wasn't sure what type of dumplings came in the order when ordering but I'm they were all very good. 28. Black fungus: this is a cold dish if you like wood eat mushrooms this has good flavor and has a fresh taste to it. 12. Wonton soup l: the wontons are fresh and large but i would have preferred for them to put the broth separately for delivery. Suan Tsai rice noodle soup this was good. It is spicy but not too spicy. The chow mein noodles had THAT taste they should have that is very distinct and that other places here can't capture. The beef burrito was so tasty. I would have liked a little more scallion in the actual pancake though. Fried rice was good but too many green onions. Although I am weird about how and when I like my green onions. This is my absolute favorite food truck ever. The noodles are super authentic, I feel like I'm in China. My go to dish is the egg and tomato noodles. Egg and tomatoes is a super popular dish in China and the noodles were the perfect complement to it. The fat chewy noodles are perfectly cooked sitting in the tomato sauce. This dish would satisfy anyone's cravings. My only complaint is that the food truck does take forever to make the dish so I would definitely not recommend for large groups since there's only one man working there. And they are often not open in the hours that they say they are, so call ahead to make sure they're open. read more

The food was unique and although I enjoyed the family style food, one of the lady's were exceptionally rude. They forgot my food and when I told her, she walked away. Only the guy at the counter was sweet. Also, even though I spent well over 100 dollars, the lady didn't want to give me containers for my soup even though I purchased 3 soup dishes for my large family. When I asked her if they had containers she walked away from me. Then she went behind the counter and laughed and said to the guy up front that she was going to charge me for it because it's only two containers per table even though I made multiple purchases and there was 8 of us. This lady ruined our entire night and for this reason, we will not be returning. Had the guy at the front not been sweet, I would've given 1 star. Customer service can make or break a restaurant. I'd like to start off by saying that they do accept credit card, although their Yelp page states that they don't. This was my first time at their food truck location and you get hefty portions that can last 2 meals for less than $10. I ordered the noodles with meat and bean sauce (zhajiangmian). I appreciate that there was a lot of flavorful sauce, but do wish that there were more noodles to go with all the sauce. The noodles are all handmade and tasted really fresh, not overcooked or undercooked at all. Add some chili oil into your noodles and you got yourself a delicious meal (or two). My friend ordered the pork and shrimp dumplings and found a small hair in the first dumpling she picked up to eat. It was not a good surprise, but she continued to eat the rest of her dumplings nonetheless which she said were really good as well. My parents and I come here all the time. They're very strict on eating at authentic Asian restaurants, and my mom was really impressed the first time she came to eat at Julie's. It's just a really consistently good restaurant. We almost always order the beef noodle soup, XLB, and other appetizers. Their crab XLB is pretty good. They don't skimp out on the broth inside of the XLB, but we've noticed that the buns themselves have gotten smaller over the two years that we frequented here. I also discovered my love for hot chili oil at Julie's. I recommend taking a first sip out of the broth of the beef noodle soup first and then putting your own preferred amount of hot chili oil to mix in with the soup. They have one of the best homemade hot chili oils I've ever had. I also love their beef burritos. It sounds strange and non-Asian, but it's essentially a green onion pancake wrapped around beef, cilantro, and some Hoisin sauce. I really recommend Julie's! Austin severely lacks authentic Asian food, and Julie's sits nicely on the list of Chinese restaurants that you should go to. Our favorite dish from Julie's is usually their pork and shrimp soup dumplings but since covid we've been ordering their spicy pot which is their dry Szechuan stir fry with shrimp and we usually add extra beef and since we're on a keto diet, we ask them to hold the potatoes, which they accommodate with amazing efficiency. We've been so pleased with this dish that we have it in our rotation of meals at least once a week. It's definitely worth the value that we get as it's a whole tray of food with protein and veggies for a very reasonable price for the flavors and contents. Awesome place with some handmade noodles that taste super authentic. There's great outdoor seating at the food truck park and the people that work here are super nice. They've been running out of a few of my favorites recently, but I think it's probably due to supply chain and pandemic related economics. One of the best options as a hungry yet price sensitive college student! Located at the 26th and Rio Grande food truck area, Julie's offers one of the best deals among those trucks. Both the beef noodle soup and the chicken chow main are solid options and will allow you to leave full and happy. Came to the food truck with some of my friends who go to UT for a late dinner. They have only gotten the beef noodle soup before but highly recommend it so we got one bowl of it. While the broth and the meat were both delicious, I thought the texture of the noodles made it really outstanding. It was the perfect chewiness and went really well with everything else. We also ordered the pork and veggie dumplings. the dumplings weren't anything too special, I probably could have gotten the same thing for a lot cheaper using frozen dumplings. The guy taking our orders was a little rude when I asked for pork dumplings and he said they weren't available only pork and veggie dumplings were available. I usually always get the chicken chow mein with the great spicy Sichuan spices, but today I tried the potstickers and was definitely satisfied! Service Julie is a great person and always available to feed me when I'm hungry! Her best deal, in my opinion, is when she sells her delicious lunch boxes for $7 in front of CPE on campus at 11:40ish. Mannnnnn, those are absolutely delicious and cheap. Where else on campus can you get a cooked authentic meal for $7?! She only takes cash and one time I even forgot to bring money and she just told me to pay next time! What a sweetheart :) Food Food is definitely some of the best quality near campus. Coco's is eh. Pho Thaison is terrible in my opinion, but Julie does it right! Lots of filling food for a good price. I love her Sichuan spices. It gives it that extra kick exactly how my mom makes it. Probably the closest thing you will get to authentic Chinese around campus (no, Panda Express is not Chinese food...). Her food truck is a must stop place if you are visiting. I've had her Marinaded Pig Feet and her Pork Chop noodle soup, and everything about her food takes me back to my childhood of eating delicious homecooked Chinese food nearly 7 days a week. I've gotten a few items from the menu such as the black bean and meat noodle and beef noodle soup. Both of those two noodles are delicious and the noodles are very thick and you can clearly tell they are hand pulled. The beef noodle soup comes with a good amount of beef. The black bean and meat noodle is really good but for some reason I only like it when it cools down. It's preferable over the beef noodle soup if you like dry noodles over noodles with soup. The chicken fried rice and the chicken chow mein hold a special place in my heart. Neither are hand pulled like the other two noodles but both are extremely oily and filled with that umami taste. They are my guilty pleasure because it doesn't feel as high quality as the other noodles but it taste incredible. You can really taste all of the oil and salt and MSG but both the chicken fried rice and chicken chow mein just hit the spot when you need something greasy. Two signs of a great new place: the flock of asians 15 minutes before they even open for dinner, and the fact that all of your friends have been instagramming it to the max, complete with exclamations. There's good reason. In comparison to Chen's Noodle House (also homemade/in-house cut and pretty good as well), Julie's niu rou mian is thicker, chewier, and totally reminded me of the chewy noodle goodness that my mom made when I was younger! Winner! I was also interested to see how you could make a noodle trailer appeal with the lack of big porcelain bowls, but don't be fooled with the styrofoam--she really packs them to the max with a big concentration of authentic, piao liang noodley goodness. I gave 4 stars because I think she's still feeling out the new trailer, considering she opened just recently. I say this because I felt like my bowl was pretty spicy and my roommate mentioned that hers wasn't spicy at all, and also I would have appreciated just a tiny bit more beef for the grand noodle to beef ratio. I'd also recommend not going at exactly 6:30 but a bit later to avoid the initial busy hour, but that's also great because that means she's on a good start to banking it up. Great place for legit pulled noodles, even if you're a Chinese food noob and consider Tap House the best you've ever tasted (I kid, their drinks are good). Chit-chat is advisable more in Mandarin, as english small talk will just get you smiles. This is said with experience. They're super friendly though. Definitely check it out. Julie sounds like a regular American girl name, but she's really a Chinese girl, making Chinese food, for Chinese people. so, if your idea of Chinese food is from the mall food court, panda express or pei-wei, this will likely disappoint you. in China, they eat the whole animal, not just a few select pieces. and the meat here reflects authentic chinese cuts of meat. often including the gristle and tendon. I walked 7 blocks in almost 100 degree weather during lunch today hoping that the beef noodle soup would live up to its 4.5 star average rating. Unfortunately, I came out disappointed, which leaves me teetering between 2 and 3 stars. The overall flavor was good, but steer clear if you're looking for anything remotely healthy. Judy H hit the nail on the head; my broth is pretty much half oil. In fact, my soup is still sitting on my desk because I've only been able to get through about 1/4 of it due to the greasiness. That being said, the noodles did come out firm and delicious as expected.The beef is tender and flavorful, but a good chunk of it is tendon and fat which kind of grosses me out. I've also read reviews and browsed through photos that show there should be bok choy in the soup. I guess they ran out because I got cabbage instead. Yelp stalking 'What's Hot in Yelp' I had steadily kept my eye on Julie's Handmade Noodles. Review after review my interests peaked and I finally took the plunge to venture past Ben White/I-35 South on a Friday night *gasp* (so unlike me) to satisfy my curiosity and seek the truth on the highly praised Niro Mien (Beef Noodle Soup). The only beef noodle soup I've had in Austin is from Chen's (not to be confused with the new ChenZ) and Coco's Cafe. Chen's beef noodle soup is good, but not the traditional style Taiwanese beef noodle soup with rich beef broth and thick, tender pot roast stewed meat (complete with chewy tendon/fat, if you like that kind of stuff). It has been awhile since I've had Coco's beef noodle soup, but it is more like the traditional Taiwanese style soup. My problem is when I go to Coco's I'm too distracted by the bubble teas, shaved ice desserts, and other little delectables to keep focus on the beef noodle soup. Now to the important part, the food. Bottom line, Julie's beef noodle soup is the best in Austin (in my opinion). Is it better than my grandma's? not quite, but it's close. The broth is rich and beefy. Plenty of stewed beef and a decent amount of bok choy (although I would have liked more). The noodles are definitely chewy, cooked perfectly, and plentiful. Speaking of 'plentiful', the styrofoam to-go cup it comes in is ginormous. Never fear, you will NOT leave hungry. Some Useful Tips to Note: 1. The owners/cashier do not speak English very well. I had to brush up on my Mandarin when my order got complicated (asking for hot oil on the side, asking if I'm suppose to pay 'now' or when my order came out). 2. In regards to tip #1, if you don't speak Mandarin, never fear. The menu is pretty simple. 3 different dishes. If you don't have an Asian with you handy, just point and use your fingers to motion how many of each you want OR just ask any Asian that is nearby to help translate (there is bound to be one, trust me). 3. The truck is actually painted with signs saying 'Yuymmy Bowl', which confused me at first. There was even a website (Yummbowl7.com), which if you visit is a totally different Asian fusion menu. My guess is that Yummy Bowl is no longer and Julie purchased this trailer. The 'real' menu is all hand written so don't be fooled. 4. If you happen to own some 'real soup spoons' it wouldn't hurt to bring them with you. You get a small plastic spoon to eat your noodles with (on the to-go orders). If you want the proper soup to noodle to beef ratio in every biteful, you are gonna need the right spoon. You know, the kind you use to eat noodle soups like Pho? Overall this place is a great addition to satisfy my Taiwanese food cravings. I'll have to try the Tomato Egg Noodle soup and the Zhajamg Mian sometime, but it will be hard. She has the menu in English and Chinese and it's a variety of handmade noodles in soup and fried form, dumplings, and other basic quirky Chinese things like chicken feet and leg. You order and then wait, then she brings the food to you--it was weird some people paid right after they ordered and others paid when they received, so don't be confused if you put in your order and she just walks away. I got the pork chop noodles ($8) and my friend got the beef noodle soup ($8). The handmade noodles are AMAZING. I love them. I'm from California where we are land of Asian food and I was impressed by how soft, chewy, and thick these noodles were. Noodles were sheer perfection. Honestly the rest of the dish could have sucked and I would have still loved it because that's how good the noodles themselves are. The pork chops were also really good and flavorful as was the soup. I made the mistake of getting the spicy sauce--go for it if you're good with spicy stuff, but otherwise definitely be warned. It has "ma la" which is this tingly numbing feeling that comes in some Chinese spicy sauces. If you can handle it, it's amazing, but if you can't, you'll struggle like me haha but even that wasn't enough to stop me from loving this bowl of noodles. Anyways there seems to be quite a bit of conflicting information on Yelp about her store. So as of today, her store is open from 5-10pm. She seems to serve lunch boxes ($7) that deliver to certain parts of campus, but you have to call in ahead of time to order. She delivers around 11:40am. She does take credit cards now, but like all Chinese places, she prefers that you give cash and will try to game you into giving cash. It's pretty funny to watch.
