I hadn't been to Jumps in more than a year, I had breakfast there yesterday with a friend. I wish I'd asked our server her name because she was exceptional; attentive and friendly. I had the turkey sausage/asparagus omelet. It was a tasty, traditional omelet; very generous portion. They could take it up a notch by using a higher quality bread for their toast. Great breakfast/lunch joint and it seems like they've upgraded and now offer a nice dinner menu. Both my girlfriend and I enjoyed our lunch which was extremely fresh and delicious. Went for lunch and had no wait. Service was good and the food excellent. I ordered a sea scallop salad. The salad greens and everything were super fresh with perfectly cooked large scallops and a nice dressing. For $12 it was a deal. I would come back here again for sure. read more

My family and I had a terrible experience at Jumps this morning. Although we had a reservation for 9:30 we were made to wait 25 minutes for a table. This was despite the fact that at least 1/3 of the tables were empty. When I asked about the delay, and inquired whether we could take an empty booth we were told that we had an assigned table and had to wait. The owner could not have been ruder or more arrogant when she spoke to us. We received not a word of apology for our wait. Once seated we found ourselves at a card table stuck in the middle of the room (it was Mother's Day) that was tilted such that my low bowl of fruit spilled over onto the table cloth. The worst part: the booth we asked for was empty until 5 minutes before our departure. I have lunched regularly at Jumps but will never go there again. There are many better places in Grosse Pointe. read more

My sister and I went to Jumps restaurant today to have a nice lunch. We both ordered burgers, nothing special. Before our meal arrived, the server brought us ketchup and mustard in picnic like condiment containers (not the original manufacturers packaging)...nothing wrong with that until what we experienced next. My sister and I both requested A1 steak sauce for our burgers and this was the server's response: "I don't think we have that (she goes to check). No, we don't have that and let me tell you something, in 'fine dining', you don't generally use something like steak sauce." Insinuating that we were dining out of our class or something. Last time I checked, we weren't in the 1800's living in aristocratic England. The woman totally tried to belittle us because we wanted some steak sauce for our burger? Seriously? I'm not sure about the "find dining" comment either considering that our ketchup and mustard came in picnic containers and the wait staff's uniform was polo type shirts. If you were really a fine dining establishment, you would be stocked with a menagerie of items that your customers may want to ensure that their dining experience is the best that it can be. You also wouldn't hire people who are condescending to the customers. read more

I had the scallops salad. It was amazing. The scallops were so fresh and delicious and the vinegarette they use is light and tasty. If you like scallops, definitely try this salad. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because of the service. My server wasn't very friendly. If she had been a little friendlier I would have given another star. read more

Awful, awful service. We went for Sunday brunch and the place was full, but we were the only ones waiting for a table, so it's not like they were super slammed. We waited in the hall for 15 minutes and finally had to go in the restaurant, and lo and behold a table was ready for us. I think we'd still be waiting if we stayed in the hall. The service started out ok, but after placing our order we didn't see our server again for 30 minutes. We have 2 little kids and it's a miracle that they didn't have a complete meltdown. For 30 minutes we sat there and he didn't stop by once. My husband's Bloody Mary was empty for at least 15 minutes and my coffee was cold and basically empty, not so much as a warmup. He finally came and brought the kids their food, we didn't get an apology or an explanation on why we sat there for so long with no service. In fact he still didn't refill my coffee, I had to ask and he never asked my husband if he wanted a refill. We are not high maintenance and I get annoyed when servers are constantly pestering us, but this was an extremely long wait and an apology would have gone a long way. After we asked for the bill it was close to 10 minutes before he ran our card. The food was good, but not great. There's better places to get brunch in GP, and after such poor service we won't be back. read more

We've been going to Jumps for several years now - mostly for weekend Bruch. We started going for lunch and dinner on a regular basis since they moved to the main floor from their basement location. The food is always amazing and the staff is more than accomodating! Our 2.5 year old daughter almost always tags along with us when we go out to eat (we've been taking her there since she was born) so I was very pleasantly surprised when on our last visit there, the waitress brought over a box of crayons, stickers and several coloring books to occupy the little one while we dined. (Most places will give a measely paper placemat and a couple of crayons). We were also able to order off menu for her - a grilled cheese sandwich with a side of fruit! VERY kid friendly. 5 very enthusiastic stars for the food AND the service! read more

Place is VERY clean and service is great. The food is good, I had the kale salad but it was nothing special, just good. Maybe it was the time (9pm) or because its a weekday but the atmosphere was so boring. It was insanely boring and quiet like a nursing home. Worse restaurant i've ever been to (except for the one in Guatemala where a mouse jumped out onto my table and ran off. The owner laughed and told me 'no harm, no foul (in Spanish)). The waitress stole $5 from me by overcharging me. When I brought it to her attention, she told me 'I'm busy but will take care of it later.' That later never came and the owner stiffed me by giving me her shallow apology but then tried to blame it on me!!! She told me she would 'make me whole' by sending me a non-existent $15 gift card! She never sent it and when I called her on it she called me a liar!!!!!! Can you believe that? I will never, ever visit that swindling restaurant again. Moreover, the service was terrible and the food was barely passable. Do not go to Jumps Restaurant unless you're prepared to be ripped off monetarily, receive poor service and eat barely passable food. read more

Was thrown off by the other reviews and at first was a little nervous about my decision to eat here with two kids and no kids menu. Our waiter was great and told us they can make just about anything. Both my kids were super happy with their meals and even had leftovers. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food as well. Would definitely eat here again. read more

Jumps is great for breakfast or lunch and good for dinner, they just updated the menu though and it looks delicious for dinner. It's a good standby for us for family dinners and we come often. This is a favorite spot for my dad and I to grab breakfast before he heads to work. It is never too crowded, but there are always a few people who seem to be regulars (a good sign). The breakfast menu has something for everyone, from light to heavier options, vegetarian choices, savory and sweet dishes as well. I always order the fruit, yogurt and granola parfait, and (depending on the daily flavor) a muffin. The fruit is nothing special, but pretty fresh. The yogurt is tangy, the granola's sweetness balances it out, but is a bit too chewy. I have never had a disappointing muffin! Last time I went, the muffins were raspberry pineapple, a flavor combo I have never seen in a muffin, but they were absolutely delicious and moist. The omelets are crazy good as well, large and filling. Service is usually on the slower side, but every waitress we have had comes by regularly to keep our coffee warm and has been very friendly. read more

We have been coming to Jumps for many years. It has always been our favorite place to eat an unpretentious dinner. However, it seem that the menu is starting to get rather boring. The menu has not changed in many years. It is uninspiring. Tired. It's like Chet is losing his creative drive. Ever since Jumps moved upstairs menu pricing also increased. The portion sizes have decreased as well. My wife asked for a few extra pine nuts on her salad and was charged $2.50 for 6 more pine nuts. Even Jumps famous soups have declined in quantity and offerings. Service is still great but given the price it is difficult to justify eating there more often then on special occasions and even then we need to think about it. We have now turned our attention to eateries out near Somerset. I hope Chet reactivates his culinary talents and gives his restaurant a Jump start. read more

I have become a weekly regular at Jumps for lunch following a class I take in Grosse Pointe Woods. Every meal is delicious and I am a particular diner. Mavelle, Nicole and Robyn work as hard as any staff I have ever seen and are on a first-name basis with their customers for good reason...because they care!! Meals are generous portions, flavorful no matter what your taste and the service is great. I recently took two friends for their first visit and I am certain it will not be their last. Mavelle shared the establishment's history with my friends and went out of her way to make them feel so welcome. My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner. We hadn't been there since they had moved upstairs. We didn't miss much. When we entered the restaurant, there was an ante room with a hostess stand. No hostess. We walked in a little lost, then a server came up and pointed to a table right next to the door. There was no one else in the place. We asked for a table away from the door and she rolled her eyes and started walking. The booth was fine but without any direction on where to put our coats, we just threw them in the booth. The silverware was very difficult to use. The handles were like round spirals. Hard to explain and even more difficult to use. They need a flat surface to hold on to so they would not spin in my hands. The meal was average especially for the price. We won't be going back. read more

We went there with friends from out of town for dinner. Average food and terrible service. My wife and I were embarrassed and disappointed when one of our guests had a problem with their food and the waitress was rude and didn't offer to rectify the problem. When we informed her about the problem she just walked away and never returned until she brought the bill. We thought maybe she would credit the one order but we were charged for the entire meals. I dined there recently, ordering the lobster pasta, which I can't recommend. The lobster in the pasta was good but the lobster cream sauce was not. I consumed 2 pieces of lobster, 1 scallop and 3 fork fuels of pasta ... that's all I could manage leaving 90% of the entree. I told the waitress (whom I later learned was the owner) I was not enjoying the entree, she asked why, I said the sauce ... and received in return her hand on her hip and a facial expression that I was crazy. No .. maybe the chef was not on his/her game that night ... maybe s/he left out some seasoning ... don't know but I didn't like it. She should have taken the cost of the entree off my check but she didn't. As the owner, she should have ... I also agree with another reviewer here that the waitress was curt (presuming we had the same waitress), but this lady was. Bottom line for me is I will never go there again and can't recommend it to others. What I did like was not outstanding (calamari and a salad both good) but not good enough to compel me to go back there again. read more

we took our frail & elderly mother to jumps to celebrate easter brunch. we arrived 25 minutes early for our reservation(my mistake). the waitress who "helped " us must have had a sad morning. she was curt towards us. sharply informing us we were too early & we would have to wait. we wheeled our mother into the lobby to do just that. a short (10 minutes) time later she came to seat us.(once again she seemed unhappy and disinterested in our comfort). our waiter was bright and pleasant & took our drink order. he took our food order as he delivered the coffee. it was every minute of 3/4 of an hour before we were served. eggs, pancakes, waffles, fruits, whats to take so long? it seemed that the other patrons were impatiently awaiting their holiday meals as well. i realize that working on a holiday is unpleasant, staff does not really want to be there. BUT this is a restaurant that ADVERTISED a holiday meal. if they were unprepared, they should have just stayed closed. we will not be returning for a second try. it was conveniently located, but not worth the hasle. read more
