    Beef gimbap

Pretty solid Korean spot--not gonna lie. Perfect for a quick pickup when you're craving something warm and satisfying. I grabbed three items and it was more than enough to share, so the portions are definitely generous. The kimbap was a standout--classic Korean comfort food with seaweed-wrapped rice, pickled radish, carrots, spinach, and your choice of fillings. Simple but so good, and it really gave that "taste of home" feeling. I also tried the tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), which is a must if you're exploring Korean food. The rice cakes were soft, chewy, and packed with flavor. This one came with a boiled egg and customizable spice levels, which I loved. Super savory with just the right kick. Overall, a great go-to spot for quick, flavorful Korean eats. Definitely worth checking out!

The family in this place greet you so well. They welcome you and do their best to serve you quickly and humbly. I loved the first moment of walking in, it smells so good! They have a ramen wall, and a variety of deals for the lunch rush. I came in and had a beef bulgogi bowl, that was so warm and flavorful. Their dumplings are so good! My server gave me an iced coffee that was so strong it was delicious! This cozy little spot is a must try if you need something quick, and delicious. I cannot wait to come back!

Jumsim popped up on my radar while quickly looking for a lunch spot nearby. For businesses that have VERY strong ratings, I definitely come with some interest in whether it's hype or reality. However, I'm happy to share that Jumsim 1000% deserves all the love it's received. My colleague and I both ordered a rice combo. The spicy pork was just spicy enough to cater towards a wide audience (which is perfectly ok). Mandu is obviously handmade and was incredibly juicy. And lastly service-- it'll make you feel like you're at home! I read that it's a wife/husband duo that runs this spot, with the wife taking care of the front and husband taking care of the back. With DTLA still experiencing various socioeconomic challenges that impact businesses, I'm so happy to see places like Jumsim holding on. As I was sitting down, it was very obvious that they've grown a strong customer base. This is the sort of food culture and small business that drives our local economy, and I wish them the best-- if you're ever in the area, definitely give them a visit!

Cute little mom & pop Korean restaurant for gimbap (rice rolls), stews, and noodles. Great for lunch. A short walk from the courthouse, metro stations, or Grand Central, grand hope park. They got fried chicken wings too! Gotta try that sometime.

I really enjoyed my experience here it was like your parents were cooking for you it felt like home. The food is also very much like home cooking kimchi pancake and spicy pork was very good. It's a perfect mom and pop shop to grab a bite of comfort food!

5/5 experience. Service is very friendly and kind. It seems like a mom & pop shop. You walk in here and it feels like you're being welcomed into someone's inner circle. I was just visiting the area but could tell that she had many regulars. Several of them stopped by to just say hi to her, and one of them took pictures with her and she said that it was because this customer was moving away from CA the day after and just wanted a memory of this place. I really enjoyed the potstickers! They were a surprise hit. Two are included in the cupbap. It was so delicious I ordered another 6 of those separately. The cupbap appears to be one of the most economical options. There was plenty of beef bulgogi in it to make one feel full. The spicy pork barbecue was flavorful. It was a little spicy, and I loved it. We had leftovers to take home, we were so full by the end of it. Highly recommend this place! Ambiance is casual.

OMG! Best spicy pork belly I've ever had. Absolutely delicious with the perfect t heat if you like spicy foods. If you're not into spicy foods you will find this hot. If the flavors weren't so good, they'd get a 4 star, the rice to meat portions are heavily biased. Not enough rice.

Solid korean food spot. Very welcoming, lots of non-koreans and fairly busy for lunch which is a great sign. They have lunch items and then regular menu items as well. Everything tasted good. I would love to see a rose option for tteokbokki in addition to the standard one. The lunch bowls are a decent amount of food. Service was fairly quick. I would go again without hesitation. Very accessible. Parking is not great but that's normal for DTLA.

The lunch crowd gets busy and for good reason. This is the best tasting yukgaejang I've had.

I came here for lunch because it said lunch on the wall outside. If anyone out there is thinking of doing the same thing, do it! It was pretty crowded for a weekday lunch (almost every seat full), but my party of 1 was seated immediately at the counter against the wall, which is the perfect spot for a solo eater. Everything looked amazing but I went with the beef bulgogi rice bowl combo (beef bulgogi, rice, cabbage, pickles [a little spicy] shredded seaweed, 2 beef dumplings, & fried egg). -- One thing to note: the dumplings tasted exactly like the Bibigo frozen beef mandu, which isn't a bad thing, but just struck me. I love those things but wasn't expecting to have them at a restaurant. Each element in the bowl was fresh and delicious, but nothing made me happier than the fried egg atop the beef. Just a little sliver of fried egg with its golden ooze (yolk) plus a forkful of beef bulgogi was pure bliss. Crispy, sweet, salty, yummy! This dish filled me up!! Once I dug that fork into my shiny gold bowl, I went downright ravenous on that meal til there was nothing left! It's like I blacked out and the eating monster took over. I probably finished in 10 minutes which is unheard of for me (slow eater). I also ordered the rice juice. This was my first time trying Korean rice juice so I wasn't sure what to expect, but this blew me away. It was like a less sweet, roasted and nutty horchata minus the cinnamon. I loved it! Not to sweet! Prices were reasonable, and service was FAST even though the place was packed! Such a cute mom and pop eatery that really makes you feel at home.

This place is great! We had the bulgogi and spicy pork and they were killer. These are perfect family style meals, so bring a friend or two. Service is super fast and soooooo nice! Great folks and great food.

We were able to order in the line, and got our food within 10 minutes once we finally sat down. I tried their handmade clam kalgusku soup and beef bulgogi. Both portions were generous. The kalguksu was incredible comforting, with chewy, long, freshly made noodles in a rich, savory broth that was packed with clams. The beef bulgogi was also delicious. It came with a side of salad and rice. The bulgogi was tender, well-merinated, and paired well together with the sides. We ordered the medium bossam, galbi kalguksu, perilla seed kalguksu and spicy pork. There were 5 of us but the portions were so generous, we had enough food with some bossam left over. The bossam was amazing! The best we've tasted. We all loved the perilla seed kalguksu due to its taste and also bc it's so healthy for you. The owner came by to check how we liked the galbi kalguksu since it was a newly created dish and we told her that it was delicious, seasoned just right. Before the meal, as they brought out the side dishes, they brought out barley rice with denjang on top to mix with yeol-moo kimchi. That was a special touch. We absolutely loved the food there. I saved the info so that we can return when we visit Koreatown again in the near future. Highly recommend this place to anyone who craves exceptional Korean food.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
