I stopped by M Spoon this afternoon for a snack. We ordered the mixed tempura, which included shrimp, squid, glass noodles wrapped in seaweed, sesame leaves, and mugwort leaves. My Mom had previously been here with her friends and really enjoyed the kimbap and fish cake, so she wanted to come back and try the assorted tempura together. The tempura looked very good, so we decided to give it a try. But, I was a bit disappointed because when I think of mixed tempura, I usually expect items like shrimp, squid, and sweet potato, but this one had a lot of glass-noodle seaweed rolls. However, the tempura was very crispy and still tasted good. And, their outdoor patio was nice. So, we were sitting on the outdoor patio and enjoying our food.

We ordered to go and they gave me pre-made refrigerated iced cold rolls. Omg, I expected the food to be freshly made, not iced cold, and even kimbak is supposed to be cool, it should just be as cool as room temperature, it shouldn't be THAT cold or refrigerated. We will never come here again!

From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent. Very polite, and welcoming, attentive right off the bat. I felt genuinely welcomed. The menu offers a great variety of food options, and the combos make sense and are well thought out. I also love that they offer shared options, which are perfect for dining with others. The food came out at a great time and at the perfect temperature. I ordered the Rabokki, and the portion is definitely shareable in my opinion. It's spicy so if you like heat, you'll enjoy it. What I really appreciated was that it didn't have a fishy taste at all, and the sweetness was perfectly balanced with the spice. Overall, everything 10/10. read more

First of all, there's free parking, which is a GEM for LA. Not much seating and a bit of a funky smell, but they have the best tteokbokki I've had in years. Reminiscent of the streets of Korea and not tainted by American preferences (Jaws TPK, I'm looking at you..) The kimbap didn't have the right flavor profile for me, and I don't like cucumbers but that's a me problem. The menu is a bit small and the prices are a bit steep (since I know what it costs to make myself as a Korean) but I would come back just for the tteokbokki and they also have my favorite LA matcha upstairs, so not complaining! read more

M Spoon is on the first floor of a plaza on Catalina & Olympic. Self parking is free or there is $5 valet underground. Both outdoor & indoor seats were empty when I went. We ordered to go so we could eat upstairs at MiCafe on the 2nd floor. We tried the nyam nyam combo which includes gimbap (veggie or fishcake roll), ddukbokki (spicy rice cake) and oden (fishcake soup). There was a $3 add on to customize the gimbap to keto tuna, $3 to add cheese & $3 to add ramen to the ddukbokki as well. Portions and flavor were good for the price. read more

I'm a regular customer here and I order delivery very often. Everything is delicious, but they often forget one ingredient in the kimbap. For example, when I order two vegetable kimbaps, one has egg and the other is missing egg. This happens quite often, including today, so I always have to double-check order. It's so delicious. Each doshirak or lunchbox is 15 dollars and given the quantity and price, it's definitely worth buying the lunchbox. Service was wonderful and if you're debating on trying this place you should definitely give it a try. You wont regret it. read more

Dropped by to grab some lunch after I got a video about this place on insta. The restaurant is small and clean and service is very friendly! It was nice and quiet on a Friday around 2PM. Got my order to-go and it was ready pretty quickly! Food was absolutely delicious. I got the medium spicy fried chicken and the ssam kimbap. Chicken was perfectly crunchy and very well-coated in sweet and spicy sauce. I loved the pieces of chewy rice cake. This is the first I've had sweet potato with my chicken too and it was amazing. The ssam kimbap was fresh and filling without being too heavy. Portion sizes were great! You can totally share an order of the chicken with somebody else. Can't wait to come back and try more of their menu another time. read more

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

had such a great experience at M Spoon! The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentically Korean--with generous portions that felt worth every cent. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole place had a warm, relaxed vibe. One thing I really loved is their pet-friendly outdoor patio.
