Small shop in LES with friendly staff and a chill ambience. There's a few ramens to choose from, with a couple vegan options. We opted for the tonkotsu and the spicy black tantanmen. The tonkotsu was good, it had a strong pork flavor consistent with tonkotsu, the portion was filling, and the chasiu was nicely charred. The broth itself is not thick, like you would expect, so depends how you like your tonkotsu but something to keep in mind. 4/5 The black tantanmen had very strong, nutty flavor, very thick soup, which is comforting on a cold day. The portion is filling as well. My issue with it is the breaded, fried chicken they include with it. They place it in the soup, and it gets soggy quickly, leaving small chunks of bread all throughout the soup that was generally unpleasant, especially when there's ground pork in the soup and I keep expecting that only to bite into soggy breading. 3/5 read more

Can honestly say that if these types of places were more of what Michelin recognized restaurants were like - I'd probably seek them out more often. Didn't realize until we had sat down that this was the case. We got gyoza and pork buns: both good- but the buns were insanely good. Meat was succulent and the sauce thiccc and flavorful. The gyoza was standard. The ramen I went with the tonkotsu as usual, adding an egg. This was very very good - thinner noodles than usual. But the broth was really exceptional to me. Returned to the place where I had one of my first ramen bowls when I moved to NYC and left pretty disappointed. Nomz: Had the gyoza to start, a little dry but good overall. We were freezing and a lot of the neighboring restaurants had extended waits for tables, so it was great when I called to ask for the wait and was told to come right now. We came by a few minutes later and were seated right away. It's a cozy spot that's got a warm, welcoming vibe. The servers are extremely nice and food was served quick. This place was nice. I went with a friednand it was empty when we arrived. It started getting full about 45 minutes in. Which made it hard to move around in as the place is pretty tight inside. We ordered 2 appetizers and our entrees. Pork Gyozas -5/5 these were delicious. They pan fried them ao well, the meat with cooked through and were warm to eat. Pork buns -4.5/5. These were delicious but wish it had a bit more sauce spread on it as it was a little dry. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - 3.5/5 this ramen was ok. The meat and veggies were tasty but the broth felt too bland and not at all spicy. Aburi Chasu Rice Bowl - 2.5/5 I do not think their rice bowls are worth getting. I ordered the bowl with pork. It was just rice pork and green onions on top. The price of 17$ for a simple bowl does not seem worth the price to me. Next time i would order a ramen option. It was still tasty though. Came here with a group of 5 friends on a Sunday night. Was fairly crowded but we got seated pretty quickly. Servers were all friendly and helpful. 4 out of the 5 of us ordered the exact same thing (Spicy Stamina) where 1 person ordered something different. 4 of our dishes came out fairly quickly, and since it was freezing cold out, our 1 friend still waiting on their dish said we could go ahead and get started. Since we were all hungry and cold, we dove into the ramen. The flavors were very good. I've definitely had richer flavors in Los Angeles spots, but above average for sure. After about 25 minutes, our friend still hadn't gotten their meal. We checked in with our server, and they forgot to put it in. It had gotten busier since we first sat down, so we were all well beyond done with our meals by the time our friend finally got served, about 10 minutes after checking in about it. Since he got the same thing as almost all of us, we noticed his ramen was piled high with ground pork (which is included on the menu as part of this dish), which made us realize that none of our dishes had ground pork in it. Pretty disappointing to pay $20 for a bowl of ramen and get skipped out on the meat. Every single one of us also paid an additional $2.50 - $3 to add an egg or corn to their bowl. After politely expressing our disappointment that our ramen didn't have any ground pork, and our friend had to eat alone 30+ minutes after the rest of us, the wait staff was apologetic. We honestly were expecting some type of small comped offer of an appetizer, drink, or taking off the extra charges (egg and corn). We had absolutely nothing comped or offered on the bill which was a little surprising given the multiple mistakes. The bathroom situation inside is also atrocious. It's EXTREMELY small with no where to wait. The bathroom door is wedged in between the kitchen and a service door. A server was coming out of the kitchen with food, so I stepped back closer to the service door to get out of their way, and got nailed in the back of the head by the service door flying open. Maybe we'd have better luck during a non-dinner time, but I wouldn't go again with how many dining options there are in NYC. read more

One of the absolute worst unprofessional experiences I've ever encountered at a restaurant. My friend and i were out and wanted ramen. We saw this restaurant closed late so we called the restaurant to ask the hours and was told you had to be there by 10:30pm. I called again just to confirm and this time I was told to come by 10:45pm the latest. I confirmed w the guy 3 times about 10:45 being the time and he said yes. We arrive at 10:40pm and the guy outside of the restaurant refused to let me order. He rudely said we closed at 10:30 and no more seating. I said I called and was told 10:45 he said no your not eating inside, your late we closed at 10:30 and went on and on arguing with me outside the restaurant, denying he ever told me 10:45...so we're now arguing outside. He was so rude and unprofessional and as me being a customer wanting to eat and spend my money in this establishment we should not have been treated this way. He informed us of the time on the phone which was confirmed and Google shows your restaurant stays open until 11:45pm. There is absolutely no excuse for how he behaved and if this employee treats all the customers this way, yelling and carrying on and denying service then your going to lose more than just my business. After the fighting back and forth my friend came and begged to sit as we were starving, but at this point I didn't even feel comfortable staying because I wouldn't doubt he would try to mess with our food given the situation so we left. The owner also has a Michelin star! I have no idea why I didn't come here sooner. I ordered the spicy cheese tonkatsu and it was overwhelmingly delicious. Exactly what I personally like in ramen- rich thick broth that coats your spoon and clings to the noodles as you eat. It came with abundant toppings, including the chashu which was perfectly tender and fatty and melted in my mouth. The egg was maybe slightly over marinated. Having made these types of eggs myself, I found there's a sweet spot and if you leave them in the marinade for a day or so too long they develop a little bit of bitterness. It was still delicious.
