Small shop in LES with friendly staff and a chill ambience. There's a few ramens to choose from, with a couple vegan options. We opted for the tonkotsu and the spicy black tantanmen. The tonkotsu was good, it had a strong pork flavor consistent with tonkotsu, the portion was filling, and the chasiu was nicely charred. The broth itself is not thick, like you would expect, so depends how you like your tonkotsu but something to keep in mind. 4/5 The black tantanmen had very strong, nutty flavor, very thick soup, which is comforting on a cold day. The portion is filling as well. My issue with it is the breaded, fried chicken they include with it. They place it in the soup, and it gets soggy quickly, leaving small chunks of bread all throughout the soup that was generally unpleasant, especially when there's ground pork in the soup and I keep expecting that only to bite into soggy breading. 3/5

It was my first time trying authentic Japanese Ramen, I got the spicy tonkotsu and my date got the spicy miso ramen. Overall the food was pretty good and they had outdoor dining with heating and the service was really nice and respectful

Reliably delicious especially on a cold day. I love the spicy miso ramen, which has a rich broth and perfectly bouncy noodles. We also tried the karaage buns which were flavorful and crispy. The space is small so there can be a wait but the turnover is pretty quick

On a rainy day, ramen is great and honestly Mr. Take Ramen was not the first, second, or third option. It was the only place not crowded out the door but it was a good choice. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and my friend choose the same thing but spicy version. The ramen was nice, flavorful and the tonkotsu was juicy and melts in the mouth but there was so much bean sprouts. I actually asked for no bean sprouts and the bowl doesn't look as full. I wish they gave me another topping as a replacement but nope. My friend was annoyed with the bean sprouts but liked it overall. The only thing that I would complain about is the fact that I have to ask for the check 4+ times before they could get back to me so the service could have been better.

Ordered the spicy tonkotsu. Presentation was on point, but my egg seemed un-marinated and the broth didn't quite hit. Solid if you need a ramen fix, but definitely not the best in the city.

came on a wednesday with 4 other friends and were easily able to snag a seat at the bar we have all been dying to try this spot and decided to do a cheeky wednesday dinner so that there would be no issues getting a seat since they dont take reservations i decided to do the spicy tonkotsu since the broth is my favorite but i also tried my friends spicy miso i gotta say the broth of the tonkatsu and the noodles of the miso would be an elite combo - i dont love thin noodles so thats my con for this spot - and there werent as many toppings as other spots. otherwise its pretty solid - def hits a craving especially in cold winters! the service was fast and the inside was small yet cozy! def recommend

Can honestly say that if these types of places were more of what Michelin recognized restaurants were like - I'd probably seek them out more often. Didn't realize until we had sat down that this was the case. We got gyoza and pork buns: both good- but the buns were insanely good. Meat was succulent and the sauce thiccc and flavorful. The gyoza was standard. The ramen I went with the tonkotsu as usual, adding an egg. This was very very good - thinner noodles than usual. But the broth was really exceptional to me. The execution was really great and I found myself questioning the other places I've been to.

I really enjoyed Mr Taka ramen, I went right when they opened so thankfully I didn't have to wait. The food was also pretty good. The karrage had the flavor of almost a soy garlic seasoning but a little but sweeter; solid starter. The ramen was very good... but the two things that killed it for me was the heavy handed cilantro. I said no cilantro but they still gave it to me and it completely overpowers the dish. But any bite I could get without the cilantro was fantastic. Also don't get the chicken add-on - very bland.

Returned to the place where I had one of my first ramen bowls when I moved to NYC and left pretty disappointed. Nomz: Had the gyoza to start, a little dry but good overall. Ordered the tonkotsu ramen and the amount of toppings on top of it was excessive and very disproportionate to the broth in the bowl. The meat was so thick and overcooked that it was hard to bite into and eat. I left most of it, which was sad, currently the worst bowel of ramen I've had in NYC. Drinks: Ordered a light beer and it was forgotten until after our food came. Service: Left a lot to be desired given there were only 3/4 of us there. Ambiance: Cute bar area and other tables around, cozy. Nope or Dope: Nope, don't think I will be returning again, somehow this place has gone down down down, very sad.

Came here with some friends right before they were closing. I got the spicy tonkotsu it came out piping hot, flavors for days, spice level was perfect and the pork was cooked perfectly. I ordered extra scallions cause I like extra scallions in my ramen, and it was very filling. Even though the bowl appeared to be small, it was a very large and hefty portion. I will go back a 1000 times

    KARAAGE and Yuzu Shoyu.

I had the KARAAGE and Yuzu Shoyu. It was really good. I was really impressed by the ramen: it wasn't salty at all and the broth was extremely balanced. I would go as far to say it's probably one of the best ramens I have had in a long time. Coming in from a long flight, this is exactly what the doctor ordered. I even ordered extra broth, it was that good. After eating, I did t feel bloated- they used good flour to make the noodles. 10/10 would make a stop here.

This place was nice. I went with a friednand it was empty when we arrived. It started getting full about 45 minutes in. Which made it hard to move around in as the place is pretty tight inside. We ordered 2 appetizers and our entrees. Pork Gyozas -5/5 these were delicious. They pan fried them ao well, the meat with cooked through and were warm to eat. Pork buns -4.5/5. These were delicious but wish it had a bit more sauce spread on it as it was a little dry. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - 3.5/5 this ramen was ok. The meat and veggies were tasty but the broth felt too bland and not at all spicy. Aburi Chasu Rice Bowl - 2.5/5 I do not think their rice bowls are worth getting. I ordered the bowl with pork. It was just rice pork and green onions on top. The price of 17$ for a simple bowl does not seem worth the price to me. Next time i would order a ramen option. It was still tasty though. The staff ws nice and quick to take our order and assist us.

Me and my Roomate's favorite ramen in the EV. The pork falls right off the bone every-time and is delicious. Inside the restaurant it feels like I'm in a movie. Good lighting and cozy. The staff is super kind and very attentive if you need anything! If you like ramen, go.

The whole experience is a journey lol. You customize your ramen exactly how you want it and then sit in these little individual booths that are meant to let you actually focus on the food. You barely interact with anyone because of how the booths work, but that's part of what makes it so cool. The ramen is $21, which honestly isn't bad for Times Square. Some of the staff has been here for a while, which tells me it is a well managed operation. Quality is still the focus at TONCHIN. Table comfort is still not. I love to bring my children when not crazy crowded so they can also enjoy one of the best ramen restaurants in the world. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I haven't found better yet. Summer soupless ramen with perfectly chewy noodles and slightly spicy sauce is a great addition. The vegan ban ban kinoko as well as its chicken version are great also during summer. The maguro is delicious but I don't find it as satisfying as the noodles. Mind spiciness level for the younglings. In the winter, the spicy tantan or Tokyo ramen always hit the spot. Fish bun has been improved slightly over the years but thank ramen-sama, it is always as messy to eat as the first time I tried it 7 years ago. Desserts are surprisingly delicious. Typically Japanese ramen restaurants lack in that domain but not here. The Tokyo banana is perfectly crafted: creamy crunchy tasty. The shaved ice are great and super fun to eat. To many more years of happy reviews, and good fortune.

We started with the pork belly appetizer which was recommended and stated on the menu indicating it's their featured dish. It was the biggest disappointment as it was extremely fatty with large chunks of fat, while the lean portions were dry. It didn't look very appetizing. The dumplings were just okay--they had decent flavor but I was hoping for a crispier texture. I ordered the Zebra Ramen. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, but the broth was much saltier than I would have preferred. The pat of butter felt unnecessary and made the broth overly rich without adding much depth. The chashu was on the small side and also quite fatty and I assume it's the same as the appetizer but was sliced instead of in large chunks. The marinated egg had good flavor, although the yolk was a little more cooked than I typically like. Another thing is the pork belly appetizer came with an egg. I wish the server would tell us so we didn't have to add it to our ramen with an extra charge. The nori was also completely soggy by the time it reached our table. Overall, the noodles were the only highlight of the meal and the rest were very underwhelming. It's definitely not a place I would recommend.

This spot delivers the kind of authentic paitan that reminds you why people used to line up on cold sidewalks just for a bowl. I ordered the Paitan Ramen Deluxe, and it genuinely lives up to the name. The broth is silky, rich, and comforting without being overly salty which is exactly what a proper paitan should be. The bowl comes loaded: tender shredded chicken, seared chashu, marinated soft-boiled eggs, fresh scallions, bamboo shoots, and a sheet of nori that ties everything together. Every topping tastes intentional, not just filler. The texture balance is what really stands out fatty chashu that melts, shredded chicken with real flavor, and noodles that hold up beautifully in the broth. You can taste the care in the soup base; it has depth, not just heat or salt. If you loved Totto Ramen back in the day, this feels like its modern successor same spirit, new precision.
