    The tonkotsu tsukemen uses vinegar in the broth. That was something I didn't know. The tonkotsu ramen is vinegar-free but not the tsukemen. The food was good otherwise.

    Came for the famous tsukemen and thought it was just decent. The broth was pretty watered down and the overall meal was lacking in flavor. Probably a one-and-done for me.

    First time trying Jiro style ramen and I LOVED it! It is definitely on the heavier and richer side, but it was sooo delectable and the chashu is thick and fatty in the best way. Love that you get a mountain of bean sprouts and a whole egg too! Would come again to try the tsukemen & would also recommend sharing the Jiro style because it's definitely great for 2 people / or even 2 meals!

    This is one of the most delicious bowls of ramen I've had in NYC. I don't know what it was. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the egg had THAT jammy texture, the broth was oh so drinkable, the pork was perfectly tender. We sat at the bar just looking for a late night bite, and we found something much, much more! Definitely will be stopping by any time we're in the neighborhood.

    Service is great. They even offer to heat up a stone so that if your soup is cold, they can drop the hot stone into your broth to warm everything up! That's crazy service! If I had one complaint is that the ramen and Tsukumen is too much. I did not see one person not get a take out box. We packed our back and each had an additional full meal! Just so much food in this one ramen! They also give you a take out container that separates the broth and noodles so that it doesn't get too soggy. They do use thicker noodles so do be aware of it. It's more like a Lo mein noodle than your typical ramen noodle. And the broth is a bit on the greasier side. Tons of bean sprout to make up for it!

    TLDR: It's the ramen that you should love but it feels like something is missing. It's still very good, but it's a step or two from being the best. 4.5 stars, but no enough to round up to 5. Karaage: If we were to put all the karaages that I've had in the world on a scale. This would be in the 75-80th percentile. It's crispy, juicy, and comes at a decent size. However, it struggles a little bit on the flavor department, it either didn't have enough time to marinade or the marinade wasn't strong enough. The chicken could have been better after we punch through the crispy batter. Tonkotsu Chashu Tsukemen: Even without the word jiro in it, you can definitely see the Jiro style inspiration in the noodle and broth. The broth was what you'd expect from tsukemen, thick, rich fish flavors, and is complimented by a thicker noodle that work well together. The chashu by itself is the best I've ever had in any ramen shop. Tonkotsu Chashu Jiro Ramen: It's the ramen for the less adventurous, but these folks will also be well rewarded. The soy sauce based ramen that's layered with back fat is in my opinion better than the tsukemen. The quality and taste of the chashu is maintained, and you don't have to go through the trouble of dipping the cold noodles into the hot broth. Ambiance: A classic ramen shop that seats 30-35 people. It's compact, homey, with moderate noise levels. I'd avoid bringing big groups here. 4 max. Service: It's pretty straightfoward. You order, eat, and pay. I just feel that their point of improvement is how they handle the line after the signup sheet. Our group of 3 wasn't asked to get split up into 2-1 to occupy the already open bar seats. Our group waited an extra 15-20 mins, and I feel that it would've been nice to be offered the chance to split up instead of giving the seats to people who came much later than us. Just a suggestion, not a big deal.

    Tsukemen! I love dipping noodles and the fact that slurping is allowed is chefs kiss. This place is a recommendation from a friend who's been here multiple times and she did tell me the portions are fairly large. I brought my appetite but the bowl of noodles for dipping was endless. I had to wave my imaginary white flag despite everything being full of flavor. But I digress, the service was pretty quick (we did come at a later time on a saturday afternoon -- around 2:30PM). We entered and was seated immediately with water coming shortly to our table. The staff was kind and gave us a few minutes to review the menu and we ended up ordering takoyaki, tonkatsu tsukemen and my dumbass ordered the tonkatsu chashu tsukemen believing my ravenous appetite could finish. The vibes are also pretty chill here albeit a bit loud depending on the crowd. I wouldn't recommend bringing a lot of people at once as I feel like it would disturb the intimate coziness you can get with 1-2 people sharing a meal. If I am in the area, I would definitely revisit.

    I would give this a 4.5/5 if Yelp did half star ratings. I came on a Friday night and was quoted a 25 min wait for 2 people and we got to sit at the bar. It's a very cozy, tightly packed spot with great service. They had veggie option for their tskukemen which I was excited to try! I got this, my bf got the regular ramen with chasu, and we also shared the chicken karage and vegetable tempura. Both of the appetizers were perfection. The ramen for both were also delicious, and it was a LOT of food. We still had a lot leftover to take home so I would potentially wait before ordering the extra noodles. Would come again!

    I can confidently say TabeTomo has my second favorite tsukemen in all of Manhattan. The dipping broth had all the rich, tangy, salty, and umami goodness. The pork was super tender, and the noodles had that perfect chewy bite. Honestly, it was pretty close to a perfect bowl. The appetizers, on the other hand, were pretty forgettable. I'd say skip those and go straight for the ramen.

    Came here on a rainy day for some ramen post-run. This was probably one of the first colder days of summer, so everyone else had the same idea. When we arrived at 7:30 pm we had to wait about 5 minutes for a table, but by the time we left at 8:30 pm there seemed to be at least 5 parties waiting. While they are known for tsukemen, I ordered the tonkotsu chashu jiro ramen (mainly for the egg). It came completely filled to the top of the bowl, with heaps of beansprouts on top! While I understand presentation matters, I would have preferred a slightly larger bowl so I could easily mix the ramen up. If you like slightly thicker noodles, you will like this ramen! Personally though, I like thinner noodles so it didn't quite hit the spot. The broth was also just ok for me, a little bit too cloudy. The servers were super friendly though and continually re-filled our water, which I appreciated. They also didn't rush us to eat faster even though there was obviously a wait. Overall if I was in the neighborhood I'd stop by here again, but otherwise might check out some other ramen spots.

    Best tsukenmen in NYC that I've had so far. Broth is flavorful. Charsu is tender and the bean sprouts are a home run. Service was friendly and superb as well. Will come back again!

    I've been here a few times now and can confidently say that this is currently one of my favourite restaurants in the city! I first visited in March for a late lunch and was able to be seated and served quickly. The three of us got the Tonkotsu Chashu Tsukemen. There's a fun little comic that comes with the dish that tells you how to eat it (including a tip for requesting a hot stone to re-heat your soup). The ramen was so delicious that we all stopped talking and no one got a photo of the food! It wasn't until my third visit that I remembered to take a photo. The staff are super nice and friendly as well, when one of my friends visited with a cast on his arm our waiter brought us all bottles of Yakult for "a speedy recovery". This place definitely has a fun atmosphere!

    It's 8 portions of the noodles in the regular noodle order and veggies and meat!

    Is the vegetarian ramen option also vegan (including the noodles)?

    I confirmed with Tomo, the head chef. There dish is composed of entirely celery, onion, mushroom, cabbage, green onion, seaweed and garlic. The dish is 100% vegetarian friendly!

    When will they open for lunch?

We also shared the matcha kakigori, which I may have enjoyed even more than the ramen because the matcha flavor was so strong! There is also a red bean filling in the middle. They also offer a selection of signature cocktails. We tried the yuzu margarita, which was refreshing, and the Japanese cocktail, which I liked for the fresh celery and elderflower flavors. Overall, a great spot that is worth checking out. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you want to avoid the long wait.
