This place is awesome. The food was great, the decor is beautiful, the prices for drinks are super solid. Definitely recommend coming here with friends to have some beers and some ramen. The only thing I complain about is that the food came out at different times but I didn't have much of an issue with that.

A small dingy local shop run by one man, be patient for your food. I rated 3 stars solely on food quality- I ordered the summer soba and was pretty disappointed. What my friend ordered was pretty good, so I probably just ordered wrong. Upon entering the shop it feels like you went to a ramen shop in Japan. This neighborhood staple has been around ages.

Came here around late lunch time on a weekend afternoon and was surprised to see that almost all the tables were taken by food delivery drivers(?) We were able to snag a table and order a ramen set and the takoyaki appetizer. There was a guy who had just put in a takeout order right before us it seems so we ended up waiting 30 mins for our food. Not the greatest wait time and seeing how there is only one guy working the restaurant. The food itself is good we really liked it. The prices are also super affordable. Definitely would recommend calling ahead of time to place a takeout order rather than coming in and sitting down. Nevertheless, the worker was a nice guy.

$10 ramen?!! Unheard of. I thought this dish was such a steal considering I got a decent amount of toppings for the price. It was also extremely hearty and satisfied my ramen craving. I got the shoyu ramen, which is a classic dish. I saw a few bad reviews, but I think the best way to avoid an unpleasant dining experience is to stick with classic dishes that are priced affordably. There was only one older man working when I went so I had to be patient, but he was so nice! Definitely give this east village gem some love.

Incredible place! Great service and even better food. The plum wine is amazing,Definitely recommend.

    Mushy gross bland wonton.

I ordered take out from Grubhub without realizing this is the place down the block from me that's always empty and now I know why. All I ordered was kimchi and wonton soup. How can you mess that up , right ? Both were flavorless to the point that the wontons in particular were inedible. They were mushy , had hardly any meat in them and the broth clearly was just chicken bouillon. What a waste of 6.50. And the portions are tiny ! Don't order from here, you'll be disappointed. Chinese owned fake Japanese food. It's no wonder no one goes here. I feel bad putting down a business during these struggling times but maybe they should find out what they're good at and stick with it instead of wasting patrons money.

Tan Tan Men Soup - doesn't taste like ramen, not tasty
    Jennifer L.

Prices seem good but the food doesn't taste good. I ordered to go. Grubhub said my order was ready at 115am but when I got there I had to wait an extra 15 minutes. I had the wontons but it didn't have much flavor. I wished they had shrimp. I had the tan tan men soup. The noodle was soggy since they didn't separate it from the broth. I also had Gomomu yaki soba where the noodle was over cooked and burnt. These two were quite oily with little flavor. I wished there were more veggies since that was the best part of all the dishes.

This is such a hidden gem in the neighborhood. First of all, I'm just so, so, grateful that they are open until late and it means a lot for people like me - who work until late without getting a proper meal for more than 10 hours. It's not like one of those fancy ramen places in the neighborhood but, hey, where can you get a decent bowl of ramen for only $10 in the city?! I had Miso Ramen($10) and Yaki Soba($9) which had a lot of vegetables and I enjoyed both. I'll visit here again, for sure! Thanks!! (Oh, I loved such a quiet and cozy vibe of the restaurant.)

Our reservation allowed us to be seated quickly and the menus are on a QR code with a second card will with specials (only one which was the cold noodles) the size of an uno card, but it was very cute. Seems like they are also know for their cocktails but I wasn't able to partake since I wasn't feel too well from traveling~opted for plain tapped water! Maybe next time Appetizers included chachu rice bowl which was basically a roll and kinoko buns both very delicious. The bowl which is a roll had a pull tab to keep tithe rice fresh and keep items in place and it had a cute fortune! The mushroom buns were flavorful and light~ I ordered the miso ginger rento keep myself in check for the rest of the day filled with walking and snacks~ super flavorful for a non-meat option. I was offered some eggs, which was great for some extra protein~ the broth has some light kick spice but very manageable and added to the delicious warm taste~ Ve try good lunch meal and left satisfied and full~ ready to walk some more! This place is such a great spot with constant service, and great accommodations that make it comfortable like the baskets for bags and purses, cool air, and a bathroom that is clean.

Rating: 4.2 Came to…read moretry this Michelin bib gourmand tonkotsu ramen place in NYC. I saw them on social media and looked into and was planning on visiting when i was in NYC area. This one is located in NYC Manhattan 36th street. It's not very noticeable but has large door with its name on it. Inside is small space with bar counter, table and seats and kitchen at the end with dim lighting with pop music. We made a reservation but looks was it wasn't too busy since it had just opened at 11:45am. We were quickly sat down and looked through the menu with scan code. They offer variety of Japanese and fusion dish like tebasaki chicken wings, buns, rice ball, and few noodle dish like hiyashi chuuka cold noodle, ramen, tsukemen, and mazemen. We ordered few appetizers like chashu rice ball, mushroom buns, and i got spicy tan tan ramen and my partner got the miso ginger ramen. Chashu rice ball came with chashu, sauce, rice wrapped with nori. It's more like a sushi roll than a rice ball but it was ok. The pork was a bit dry and was messy to eat. Although it has omikuji/fortune slip inside that you pull out which is a unexpected fun addition to the dish. I ended up getting daikichi which means great luck. Mushroom buns were fluffy, flavorful and tasty despite vegetarian option. The spicy tan ramen was spicy, creamy and savory. The ramen came with half egg, few slices of chashu, menma, ground pork with spicy miso which you mix together. The broth is combination of rich, spicy and creamy and pretty strong sesame flavor. Noodles are thicker and chewer than what i'm used to. Chashu was nice and tender. menma was ok not very flavorful. Overall a solid ramen but not particularly special. I honestly prefer ichiran better. Service was good and staffs were attentive Overall a good experience but it didn't stand out enough for me to come back. Cool place and maybe nice for dates or if you want to drink as well. Price is definitely on the higher side for ramen. I've had ramen in Japan and my standard is high but i can find similar type of restaurant that is cheaper closer to home in US.

I have a shrimp allergy and politely asked if the shrimp tempura could be substituted. The server immediately said no, without offering any alternative or showing much concern. He said I can remove it myself. I said so let the shrimp inside the bowl for me to remove? WTH. For a restaurant, especially one serving customizable ramen dishes, with a allergy list post on the wall by the counter where I sat at B1, a little flexibility or empathy toward food allergies would go a long way. The interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the overall dining experience uncomfortable. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and sadly this visit fell short. The smashed cucumber was good. Spicy dumpling was good. Ramen broth was light, not as rich or flavorful as others. There are so many good ramen places in NYC, this Chinese Ramen place has lot of room to improve.

The regular size ramen was plenty, but don't let that stop you from trying the decadent Mega with all of the toppings. The food came out hot and fast too, so my table of two was in and out in less than 45 minutes easily. The menu is pretty straightforward with few choices that are all delicious - a perfect spot for the quintessential quick bite and a fair price to match. Vibe-wise, this place is a true hole in the wall with steps leading down from street level into a basement. The inside is packed and intimate so I'd come with a small party such as a friend or a date who's into good food. There was no line when I visited on a Sunday at opening time, but it got packed quickly so be prepared to wait on the sidewalk or arrive at noon.
