A friend picked this place and I went along for the ride. North loop area, so street parking. Didn't make reservations, just walked in and at at the bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bartender was super friendly, the space was nice, cool bar area too[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Ordered wings, noodles and walnut shrimp and a couple cocktails. Food came out pretty quick and was so hot it burned my mouth and I like that lol. Everything was very delicious, I'm so glad we went and I will definitely be going back to try some other items on the menu!

I've only eaten here once, but it was enough to know that this is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to. From appetizers to mains, I was in heaven. Great wontons, Szechuan dumplings, Xiang La wings (which is very similar to the Chong Qing main), everything was perfect. This is my favorite type of cuisine from China, and its spicy, so perhaps it's not for everyone, but I was as happy as I could possibly be and can't wait to return in the near future. Staff too were friendly and helpful in making recommendations for friends. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside decor is chill and quiet, so there is nothing anywhere near I was wishing for more while visiting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Kudos to the chefs and staff. Fantastic experience!

    These are real Chinese xialongbao.

Brought a visiting colleague here after it was recommended by ChatGPT for the best soup dumplings. My colleague and I have been to China recently. After having been to China and had xialongbao all over, the soup dumplings were tiny and had very little soup. I would suggest the restaurant revise the size of the dumplings and add more soup. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was good, atmosphere good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The picture below is what they should emulate.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We had our annual Christmas dinner at Jun and enjoyed the food, and atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was slow and not very attentive, we are guessing the staff was ready to call it a night. Regardless, we appreciate JUN being open on Christmas Eve.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great meal in a modern Asian location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a not so great meal at Jun years ago so wouldn't have gone back if a friend hadn't suggested it. Glad I did. The dishes had authentic flavors with freshly cooked ingredients and great textures.

Super good I got the cream cheese wontons and even with such a simple dish in the breading was just incredible. The inside was so blazing hot but it's just so good and the sauce is really warming. Maybe I'm just losing my mind but this is some of the best cream cheese wonton I've ever had incredible service too.

We went to JUN on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't busy by any means, but the 1 waiter I saw was doing all the things. Waiting tables, cleaning, bartending, etc. He was great for having a lot of work to do. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was moody.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was really great! Our server recommended several popular dishes & gave clear descriptions of what to expect. Szechuan dumplings are a MUST.

The girl was really nice who greeted us and then she was also our waitress. She recommended the chong qing spicy chicken so we ordered it. It was fried which the menu didn't state. The onions were basically raw and made up the majority of the dish. The chicken was mostly breading and skin, little chicken to speak of. We had already had dinner and were still a little hungry so we tried this out. $30 out the door ($22+tax and tip and $1 parking) and it was definitely not worth it. The water was delicious though.

Good solid Chinese restaurant. Service was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But then it wasn't that busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was okay. We were disappointed in the duck. We have had duck in China (lives there for 8 years) this was not even close.

I was glad to see that JUN reopened after it closed down. I enjoy Asian cuisine food and like the assortment of options JUN has to offer. One day I had dinner here with friends. I was in the mood for a wholesome meal on a cold winter Friday evening. After walking from Snack Bar and Borough down the block, which were booked up, we were happy to find some opening at JUN. We ordered egg rolls to share. I had some green tea to start. Then I enjoyed some Wonton soup to warm me up. I also enjoyed the Chinese Broccoli. I definitely kept it lean because it was already late and I didn't want to feel guilty about bad choices when I could do better. Overall nice ambience and quick service.

Please order the dumplings. They were so good! I especially liked the chili sauce it was served in. It wasn't an overpowering sauce, it was light but still had a little kick of spice! The fried rice was also a favorite of the table. The rice was visibly fried and was accompanied by shrimp and chicken! We ordered the Xinjiang Beef per the waiter's request. It was good, but a bit overpowering. I loved the first bite, but it felt a little overwhelming as I got half way through the dish. The dish has cumin in it... which is unique because that spice is most commonly associated with taco seasoning. Don't worry, it didn't taste like tacos though! It's a little expensive, and located in a premium spot. It's not quite worth the trip because of all the other better restaurants near by.

Does Jun's Szechuan offerings feature Szechuan peppercorns? I am curious to know if the Szechuan Angry Boiled Fish, ma po tofu, or Szechuan dumplings features ma la (numbing) taste.

During our recent visit, our server was not very welcoming or helpful while we were trying to place our order. We showed a picture of a dish from the restaurant's own menu that we were interested in ordering, but were informed that the item was only included for display purposes and was not actually available. This was confusing and somewhat disappointing, especially since customers naturally expect the dishes featured on the menu to be offered. Unfortunately, this is the second time we have experienced a similar issue, and it has involved two different servers on separate visits. The food itself is enjoyable, which is why we continue to return, but we hope the restaurant can place greater emphasis on customer service and hospitality. A friendly and attentive interaction can make a significant difference and would better reflect the quality of the food being served.

I truly hope they are around longer than I am. I would hate to find out this was one of the choices no longer available to us. Please read my previous reviews for a more inclusive view; this review focuses only on their lobster. I had previously mentioned that they prices of their lobsters (I love the version with black bean sauce) have gone up tremendously. While true, there seems to have been a subtle change in their pricing strategy. Previously (as of before the pandemic), the lobster was priced by the pound, which is the conventional way of doing it. However, they seem to have two lobster prices. The first one is called "Big Lobster" and they say it's between 2 and 2 and half pounds per lobster. The price of that (as of this review) is $56 dollars, or $28 per pound. That's not really a bad price at all. It's expensive, but reasonable. The other lobster is called "Live Lobster" and is priced $10 less at $46. So the real question is how much does this second version weigh? I ordered the Big Lobster, but they said they were out of it. I asked the weight of the "Live Lobster" but I didn't really get a straight answer, but he seemed to say "about two pounds" which doesn't really make sense because that's the price of the larger, more expensive lobster. But I decided to go for it anyway. As I stated in my last review, I'm guessing this lobster is at least two pounds, based on many years of eating lobster. For this review, I had ChatGPT translate the the Chinese on the menu, thinking it was secret code for "if you can read Chinese, save ten dollars by ordering this version" but AI says the Chinese means "lobster" so if you spoke Chinese, you'd still be mystified. So my recommendation is order the version that is ten dollars cheaper and you may (or may not) be paying $23 a pound. Price aside, I love this version of lobster and it is certainly a better deal than what you would pay at an American style seafood or steak restaurant in the Twin Cities.
