My assistant D.D and I stopped by Chan's Chinese Restaurant for dinner, and overall we had a really enjoyable experience. We ordered wontons, two egg rolls, lo mein with chicken, orange chicken and fried rice, sesame chicken with fried rice, and egg drop soup. The food was solid overall. The lo mein was really good, and the fried rice had great flavor. The sesame chicken was one of the highlights of the meal it was cooked well and tasted great. The orange chicken wasn't bad either. The sauce was enjoyable, and while the chicken itself was just okay, it was still a good dish overall. The wontons were tasty, and the egg drop soup was warm and comforting. The real standout, though, was the egg rolls. They were crispy, flavorful, and, in my opinion, some of the best I've ever had. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The dining area was clean and well maintained, although the restaurant had a fairly simple interior with minimal decorations. The restroom was reasonably clean, but it was extremely hot inside it honestly felt like a sauna. Overall, I'd rate the food 4.5/5, the atmosphere and cleanliness 4/5, and the staff 5/5. No, It may not be beautiful and Fancy and have a robot(IYKYK)m but the food is good and main dishes are made fresh (ask). I have been eating at Chans restaraunts since the original/The BEST on Atlantic, RIP, but the Dunn Location, Main and Beach is Damn good, reasonably priced and try before you judge...we do not have GREAT places in Jax, so enjoy the places we have and support LOCAL families!! Easy to place carry out order - the woman on the phone was very nice. Our food was ready quickly and was very good - the crab rangoon was filled with crab, not just stuffed with cream cheese like other places. We had the Mongolian beef and the hot and spicy beef. Hot and spicy was amazing - full of flavor and definitely our level of spicy (HOT). Also got the house fried rice which was also great. Deducting one star since the beef was chewy - which is on par for most Chinese food, but not my liking. I prefer the leaner beef cuts like we get with Thai takeout. Friday Family Fun Night was filled with some delish food from Chans! We wanted something different than the traditional pizza we usually order and man it was good! All the food was fresh, hot, delicious, and the portions are enough to share! We ordered the chicken and broccoli, hunan chicken, hot & sour soup, Singapore Rice noodles, a side of chicken and pork friend rice, and seafood egg rolls. Chan's Chinese is consistently fast and delicious. Their portions are quite generous and the food has always been very fresh.

Just came here to say that the food at chan's is better than most places in the area, and the people are so nice! I always order from here but have been dieting and when the super nice delivery guy came today he was like "nice to see you again, I hope we didn't do anything that caused you to not order from us in awhile!" We are going to start this review off with a three letter word YUM!! Their egg rolls are delicious. Their rice is always so fresh and delicious. I'm obsessed with their sesame chicken and my boyfriend really likes the sweet and sour chicken when we want to go with the normal. But sometimes we try different things and the flavor is head on. The soup (it's the miso soup for me) is delicious and their veggie lo mein is FIRE. It's in a small little strip shopping center. Don't let the looks of this place scare you- it is so nicely ran by the family and always very clean. Another perk- they deliver! But I like to go in and see the staff and see what all they are cooking up. This needs to be in your rotation if it's not already!! read more

It was a to go order - first time we tried them as our normal spot, New Wok was closed. Both my wife and I got ill unfortunately. We shared the steamed dumplings which had a funny taste so we didn't eat them all (just a couple each). The general tso's had a nice spice kick but also tasted "off" so I didn't finish that either. I have been going here for lunch and takeout for years. While it is not a "date place" (the dining room is decorated in Early Inexpensive Dinette) it serves great Chinese food at a fair price. Don't be surprised if someone answers the phone "hello" or you have trouble understanding them. You will be enjoying really good Chinese take out. Upon entry, the location known as Chan's Chinese boasted a laid back, almost impoverished type of vibe, which strictly stuck to function over fashion, though I regret to report that said function was hardly met when my girlfriend Biscotti and I dined there. Chan's functioned with an "order at the counter" system, something I myself am adverse to, but given the shortness of staff seemed more or less logical. Biscotti, who gave me shit the majority of the time for choosing such a decrepit location, and I approached the counter. "I'll have orange chicken," I said, only eyeing the menu, posted above the counter, for a short amount of time. The man wrote down my order on an order pad, nodding discreetly. "I'll have, uh... I guess I'll have... Lo mein," Biscotti stuttered out, always one to be indecisive, a trait that truly showed itself when we met each other two winters ago, my awkward personality and brown complexion leaving her undecided when wondering if a relationship with me was a good idea. Eventually, I won her over with my Rico Suave-esque vibes and long fingers, which curled at a moment's notice. "Crab rangoon, too," Biscotti added. We grabbed a Dr. Pepper for me and a Sprite for her and had our seats. "You know," I began, screwing the cap back onto my delicious caffeinated beverage, "I've spent all this time wondering what I should... what I need to do with my life..." "And..." she said, staring at me, her eyes deeper than the ocean. "Maybe all I needed to do..." I said, emotion dotting my irises, "was meet you." The man who took our orders plopped down a ceramic plate of steaming Lo Mein in front of Biscotti. "Thank you," she said. The man nodded and left, most likely to go get my food. Biscotti grabbed her fork and eagerly began twirling the prongs of it in her noodles. That's when it happened. In between the folds of the egg noodles lay a hair, one similar to those that made up the beard on our server's face. Biscotti looked at it, bile rising up from her throat before dropping back down into her cavernous tummy. I was awestruck. How could this be happening? How could such terrible luck have entered our lives without a shred of apology? How could the Lord which so many believe in have forsaken Biscotti and I in such a sacreligious way? I envisioned priests all over the land becoming belligerent, trolling around, hunting for newborns to rip apart and consume. I envisioned a Christmas morning, a small only child stomping down the stairs to find their parents' carcasses splattered all about, blood and guts adorning the reef. But mostly, I envisioned a terrible, spine-chilling lair, where the preparation of sludge took place, only to be plated, masquerading as food. Then, within that sludge, a terrible, truly awful thing was hidden; a hair. This place is great for Chinese takeout and for quick dine in too if you don't want to wait to get home or your office to enjoy what Andy can cook for you as there are many choices. I wish I could give this place more than five stars. The food is consistently delicious no matter what you order and they don't even use MSG thank goodness. The service is friendly too. This used to be THE spot for Chinese, unfortunately they have changed management and the cook. The food is terrible now. My husband and I ordered the General Tso's chicken as usual, we received Orange chicken (it didn't taste good at all) and when we called about it they informed us that was now the new recipe for General Tso's chicken. The Crab Rangoon we ordered was so sad, they now serve the triangle type crab rangoon, with hardly any cream cheese inside. The quality of food was properly spiced and hot in temperature. The Chicken lo main was wonderful, General Tsoa was not what you get from other Chinese restaurants.
