We ordered online which was cool bc their was a coupon. Also informed if you pay in cash you avoid the CC fee, bonus! Once our order was placed, they called us to confirm and make sure we knew where they were located, loved that!! We ordered the sweet/sour chicken and honey chicken combos with cream cheese wontons. 5 stars for a Chinese take out restaurant? Yes! They deserve it! Considering that there is a Chinese take out restaurant on basically every street corner, the competition can be pretty tough, but Hunan Wok is hands down our absolute favorite. They consistently deliver good food, and we have basically tried almost everything on their menu. Favorites: - Young chow fried rice: Literally my favorite thing on the menu, since I'm not a fan of the typical take-out yellow fried rice. This is your standard color fried rice, with shrimp, chicken, pork and scrambled egg, and the most authentic item I've ever seen on a Chinese take out menu! - Beef and Broccoli: What makes this standout is the noticeable flavor of sesame oil - General Tso's Chicken: It's the perfect mix of sweet and tangy. We've even ordered entire trays for parties and it's consistently a hit. Note: they also have chicken wings tossed in this sauce! - Steamed dumplings - House special lo mein: It baffles me how they can jam pack so much food into one container. It's immensely flavorful and the portion is ridiculous! Another thing to note.. I've been ordering for at least the past 7-8 years and have only had an order messed up once.. and it was only because they forgot one egg roll. There are times when delivery might take a little longer than usual, but that's never really been a big issue for us since we know that we're basically right at the edge of their delivery area, and I've only really noticed this happen during high volume times when it's raining. Absolutely bland, tasteless food. The fried rice must have been white rice with yellow food coloring, while the brown sauce tasted like salt water. All of our food was lukewarm at best. However, the MOST APPALLING thing was seeing a person waiting for their food using a medical nebulzier just a dozen feet from where food was being cooked. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a medical device that takes liquid medicine and turns it into a breathable mist. The mist is both inhaled AND breathed out...right next to food being prepared! Health Dept. complaint will follow. read more

A great local Chinese takeout (that surprisingly has a number of awards on plaques hanging on their wall). I stopped in last week for the first time, and ordered a trio of dishes for the family that night. General Tso's Chicken is an automatic for me when it comes to Chinese food, and it it's done nicely here. It was also great to see Bourbon Chicken on the menu; and they actually prepare it similar to how you'd get it all the Mall food court (which is classic guilty pleasure for me). And finally I got an order of the boneless spareribs, which were a little different than I expected...not full ribs, but cut up pieces of rib meat. They were ok, but not what I was really craving, so I'd probably skip those next time. Overall it was a great experience - the food was ready and waiting for me when I showed up, and despite being clearly very busy (it was a Friday night) I got a smile from the lady who rung me up. I'd certainly be happy to add them to my rotation when it comes to takeout night. read more

I can't believe how far the quality has dropped in a mere 2-3 months !! The last two times I've gone the food has been below mediocre. The General Tso is not crispy any longer and they have replaced it with a cheaper batter and barely any meat underneath. Besides they have jacked up the prices and now charge almost 11 dollars for a "combo"... I decided to give them one last chance tonight and they disappointed once again. So sad .. as I have really been looking for a consistent Chinese restaurant that is not a chain restaurant. I won't be back. read more

Wow!! First time costumer here. It was amazing!!! It literally was so hot even when I brought it home it needed to cool down. It really was fresh and yummy. I've gotten food from here for years. The food is always hot whether I pick up or get delivery. Portions are huge and the taste is very good. They are doing at door pickup now along with delivery. Made another trip to Hunan Wok in the old Gazebo Shopping Center. My family and I have been coming here for years and only had good things to say. However, this is my last trip here. Only ordered Wonton Soup (qt) and Egg Drop Soup (qt) to go. There were two pickup orders and no other customers but it took several minutes to get my order in as the manager/owner(?) interrupting the order taker who had as much trouble understanding what he was saying as I did from the, "I don't understand," queries. The quarts of soups took 25 minutes because they were having trouble the two medium orders; and they were not full quarts (3/4 at best). I have to upgrade my previous review from 3 to 5. The new owners have hit their stride and the food is once again wonderful. Not only that the small space has been cleaned up from all the clutter, two small tables are clean and available if one feels like eating in. Both the husband and wife know me on sight and are very friendly when I stop in. The best thing for me when I ask for spicy that's what we get. Pulled up to that place and was like, oops this isn't Hunan Wok...Googled it and found the second time, right by the Winn-Dixie. The awards they display on their wall are no joke. We love this place! Always consistently fresh and sooo good..prompt friendly delivery. When my husband picks it up at the restaurant the owners remember his name and make it a point to smile and speak. Very nice people and excellent food...i give em 5 Stars... UPDATE: 5/17/18 Hunan Wok's food has declined in quality and gone up in price. Even the fried rice (how can you mess up fried rice?)had no flavor as it formerly did and the shrimp in it was virtually raw. Their General Tso's chicken each time we have ordered it over the last couple of years, each time, tastes as though it's been re-fried (using chicken that has sat for a long while) and it is tough and tasteless. Ordered pick up this evening. My husband said he wanted Chinese, I'm typically not a fan. I wasn't in a hurry to pick it up because I wasn't so excited, so I took my time. When I arrived the staff was so friendly and nice - called me by name and I felt like they cooked special just for me. I was so surprised how much I enjoyed my dinner. Ordered take out from here, for the first time today. I was first impressed with all the awards that hung on the wall. This got my expectations up before even eating. I ordered the fried cream cheese wontons, wonton soup, and sweet & sour chicken. The fried foods were cooked perfectly and were not greasy like a lot of Chinese restaurants.
