    Cool looking stung rays.

This place is so much fun. They have a large selection of salt and fresh water fish and a nice selection of snails and shrimp. I will say that their fresh water plants left me wanting but the customer service more than made up for it.

What a wonderful aquarium store. This place is huge. They have unique things like stingray and more. Everyone of their tanks are filled with fish. Salt water and fresh water fish. They have coral . They have a big section of drift wood and hardscape. The variety of fish food is good. They have good selection of substrate. I like the colors of gravel. My Number 1 reason I like this store so much is that they have all different tank ideas on display. I have taken plenty of pictures over the years and have gotten some excellent ideas for my own tanks. Great help from staff. I have asked lots of questions I am only 4 years into fish keeping. They are Knowledgeable about everything. I have really appreciated the help and suggestions

Every time we come to VA beach my husband wants to make a pit stop here. They have a wide selection of fish, salt, brackish and fresh. My only complaint is their pricing is kind of high for fish in general. The store is clean and well kept. If you're looking for food and fish supplies you can find it here. Support local businesses.

Here is a planaria that I got from them.

Beware buying fish or plants here. They have planaria in there fish tanks. My tank ended up with planaria which killed all my cherry shrimp when I bought moss from them. I went in and told them and showed them the live planaria in their tanks and 2 months later I found that they still have planaria in many of their tanks. It cost me over $150 worth of nano shrimp and I ended up having to trash my aquarium and start all over with brand new substrate, plants, and nano shrimp. I had to bleach everything that I wanted to save from the old tank and start the nitrogen cycle all over again before I can add any shrimp or fish to the tank. I was just in there this week and they still have planaria in there stable tanks, nano shrimp tanks and multiple tropical fish tanks.

Fantastic store I could spend hours in. The three goldfish I have gotten from here are thriving! Craig has been an amazing help, and so has the gentleman in the pond room. (I don't remember his name, I am so sorry.) The prices are extremely fair, as you're not getting cheap fish like from a Petsmart. This store is a good distance away from me but I will absolutely drive here for any and all my fish needs. Oh! Also the black orchid betta I bought from here last year is still trucking in his gorgeous aquascaped tank!

(Review based on the bird department)…read more This place was absolutely FANTASTIC! I'm not a bird owner, just a person who likes to hang out with feathered friends every once in a while. The staff for the bird section was absolutely wonderful and answered all the questions we had. It's very important to consider that THESE ARE LIVING BEINGS. Treat them with respect, handle with care, etc. If you choose to handle the birds, there IS a possibility of you getting bit, clawed, pooped on, etc. and it's NOT anywhere close to zero. I advise being especially careful with the macaws, who bite HARD. They have very strong beaks, muscles, and claws that can easily punch holes in skin and scratch. Even the smaller birds are quite nippy, but aren't as likely to break skin (though they certainly do sometimes). Most of the nipping and biting can be attributed to affection, but is just as likely to cause infection (a fun play on words, but still true!). If you don't know how to handle birds, do not go in expecting to come out a professional, or go in with the expectation of all of the birds immediately loving you. These birds see upwards of hundreds of people a day and likely have no idea what to expect from you. I recommend talking with the employees, who I can't guarantee are all as nice as the people we talked to, but likely know the birds at least a little bit, and can help children and people wanting to interact in a safer way than just involving without caution.

I should have listened to the reviews and looked for another store…read more I have been looking for a parrot to bring into the family for a while. I've done plenty of research online, but this was my first time going to look at birds in person. Seeing this was a family run business, I decided to bring my business here rather than a big box store. Big mistake. Almost everyone working seemed to be stuck up teenagers and young adults. My family was in the store for about 30 min and not a single employee offered any assistance. Not even a simple hello. The bird section was absolute chaos. There's TONS of birds jammed into a small corner of the store which seems to be, by far, their most popular animal. The aisles are cramped and it's hard to hear anything with all the birds chirping away. There were 2 employees feeding/ tending to birds. They were pretty much ignoring everyone. I tried to ask a few questions about different species, yet I felt like an annoyance to them.. then I simply got told, if you're new to birds, just get a cockatiel. The guy wouldn't really give any information on any of the other species. I'm trying to make sure I have everything I need in my home before buying a bird, but it seems like they'd rather you just pay $$ now and quit bothering them. There's a bunch of signs up saying NO PICTURES everywhere. It felt like a prison with the wide variety of threatening signs all over the place. I did notice the cages seemed very over priced. An A&E cage I saw on Chewy for $300 was marked up to like $700 in there. The cockatiels were a couple hundred dollars more than Pet Smart. I wanted to avoid going to somewhere like Pet Smart or Petco to get a pet bird, but after this experience, I'll just take my business there. At least they have employees that seem like they care about helping customers. It's a shame to see a local business that can't provide better service than corporate big box stores. If it wasn't for your exorbitant prices, I suspect you'd be out of business by now.

Happy vibes here!…read more This is absolutely the place to go if you loving caring for your feathered (even furry squirrel) friends. Or if you prefer to keep the squirrels at bay and cater to the birds, they've got solutions for that too! I've been patronizing this store for many years and renew my $25 membership yearly. The membership is a great option if you shop regularly as it provides a discount every time you shop. With the amount I spend annually on bird food, it pays for itself in dividends. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and have fielded my questions about dealing with annoying starlings and black birds and what to offer my songbirds with the changing seasons. I also love that they stock thoughtful gifts like jewelry, cards, books, garden flags, bird baths and other decor. At the holidays, they have packages for anyone interested in starting a new birding hobby with tips and tricks. And once (or maybe twice) a year, they offer a feeder trade in event to get new, discounted feeders. Most of my dollars here are spent on the food, which is high quality (so don't expect to pay what you would for a bag of filler at Lowe's or Home Depot). That also means the birds don't throw most of it on the ground looking for the "good stuff." A 20# bag lasts me quite a long time in an air-tight container. I also enjoy picking out a couple of ornaments each year from their ever-changing selection. What's most valuable to me about WBU is that they have allowed me to spend more time outside in our backyard with my daughter, who at under 2 years, can already identify a cardinal, Carolina bluebird, finch, titmouse, chickadee, wren, sparrow and, yes, even a dreaded starling! The staff knows their stuff and they clearly love what they do!

We'd popped in to grab a birthday present for my Father, who's a big bird and squirrel enthusiast…read moreand were blown away by the knowledgable, welcoming staff as well as array of options. Beyond the selection, the rates were competitive to what you can find at online retailers. First off, there was a store cat... who was a little aloof but open to pets. Off to a good start. We browsed the many seed and feeder options before telling one of the employees that my Dad loved feeding birds, but was at constant odds with the squirrels in his backyard We got a thorough rundown of the many squirrel deterrent options, and ended up walking away with a cute little feeder for the squirrels that would distract them away from the birdfeeders my Dad has all over his back yard. The employees were super chill and made the shopping experience very pleasant. They had a great many options for feeders of all shapes and sizes, some crazy contraptions for anti-squirrel bird feeders. They didn't hover or make it awkward when the sales pitch portion was done, and let us noodle on the purchase in peace. Very knowledgable, and also clearly run by animal lovers. Would definitely come back.
