Junior's seems to be operating on its reputation. If it was running on its current practices & food quality it would close down quickly. The service = was OK. Food = steak was cooked perfectly but had NO flavor. Lobster = was NOT thoroughly cooked & had NO flavor. Chef denied undercooked lobster, then saw it and agreed, but did he offer to re-cook or replace it or comp it = NO! Customer Service Satisfaction = Non-Existent. The waitress was not clear in her description of Surf & Turf. I stopped by a few days after my dinner at Junior's to register my extreme disappointment in an establishment I had, years ago, enjoyed very much. The owner's daughter (who seems to run the place) did listen to me but did not come across as very warm or accommodating. Caesar salad = excellent as usual, the only shining star. read more

This one is a little bit difficult to write. This place is utterly fascinating from the standpoint of OKC history and ambience. Everything from the location, to the door, interesting decor and incredible staff were wonderful. However, the food is subpar. I've had better steaks at IHOP. It is really sad for me to say because it is obvious that this place is an OKC landmark and should be revered. The bar was super cool, Sarah was a great help with our drink selections and Susan was a terrific waitress. The bar is smoking friendly and that was pretty cool to me in this day and age. The food was not terrible, but the bone in ribeye was extremely over cooked and the much ballyhooed Caesar salad was drowning in vinegar. Whiskey selection was decent, but the bar was more about ambience and let me tell you it was cool. So cool that I will probably go back even though the food is extremely forgettable and equally overpriced. What a place this must've been during the oil boom and Penn Square bank days! I've reviewed this place before, but now I have to review again. I came here just last night and ordered my usual, the caesar salad and orange roughy. Husband got the fried chicken with a house salad. We got shrimp on ice and chicken livers for the appetizer. The shrimp has never been very good all the years I've been coming, but the livers were awesome! I've been coming here since I was a child, so I can tell you that the food has really gone down hill, sadly. It's expensive to eat here and that used to be ok until now. My meal was luke warm and disappointing. The Caesar salads aren't what they used to be, but still good and they'll always make them fresh at your table side if you're ordering at least 4. All that said, it's a romantic cozy little place and I will always return because of Juniors history and my own. Their drinks are always good and the piano bar is festive. Although its smoking in there, so if you're dining then you'll want to be in the main dining area if you're not a smoker. read more

I grew up going to Juniors but haven't been for a dinner meal in YEARS. It was exceptional from start to finish. Laura took excellent care of us (of course she's been there 34 yrs) & Dustin was very attentive. I been a Junior's fan since moving here from L.A. 16 years ago and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Walking into Junior's is like stepping back in time,the décor reminds me of an old western movie where the saloon wall paper looks like a bordello. Junior's became a landmark in the 1970"s and known as the "Oilman's Oasis" during the oil boom. The owner is always there, he visits all his guests and treats you as family. If you go for lunch you'll find very reasonable prices. Dinner prices compare closing to other high end steak houses. My favorite lunch is the Beef K-bob, it's served with your choice of house salad or Caesar, the beef or chicken k-bobs (grilled onion and red and green peppers) which are served on a beefy flavored rice, Italian green beans or you can choose a baked potato. There is also the delicious hot yeast rolls. The one thing I'm not a fan of is the canned peach half. read more

The wife and I along with four friends went to celebrate the wife's birthday. We have been to Junior's 4 or 5 times before and always had a great experience. The lobster is the best in town according to my wife although I truly believe it is overpriced at $140 last night. We were seated quickly and offered drinks. Most drinks came in a reasonable time except for 2 cokes which we had to ask for. After a time the waitress came back and asked if we were doing OK. We were ready to order at that time but did not order as she did not ask us if we were ready to order. A while later she asked the same question and we told her we were ready to order and did. Waited a fair amount of time for food and wished they brought out some bread to work on while we waited. All food was very good when it arrived and then some bread came. At no time had our waitress asked for or delivered drink refills. After most of the way through our meal a lady in our party asked for a tea refill to which we were told sure! It never came, ever. Nobody else got refills either I believe. Also we noticed a couple of us ordered a meal that was supposed to come with vegetables that did not come. After we were done we asked about that and got kind of a lame explanation but yes they did come with our meal. My wife went to the bar where she could find someone to complain to and they said they talked to the owner and she would be out to talk to us. Nope! never happened. It was quite a while after we were told she would be out before we left. She had a longggg time to come talk with us but could not take the time. It was very disappointing and we were angry by the time we left. When we got our check the waitress told us she was the only server at that time and some others were leaving. This after we watched another lady make numerous trips out to the other tables in there to service them? Made no sense. There were only 4 tables with customers while we were there. All this made no sense and was frustrating. We got a half hearted apology with this no sense explanation. We all agreed this warranted a small tip. When we opened our bill they included a 20%? tip that we had no intention to give. Unbelievably bad service from what is supposed to be a high class restaurant. Don't know if we will go back after this neglect from service and management. read more

DUUUUUUDE. Juniors is no good. For that price, geez! We were so disappointed. We came here to celebrate a birthday with family, and we were just floored by how horrible the food was. At least for $50+ per person it was horrible food. I feel like Chilis is way better. And that is absolutely not an exaggeration. I had the teriyaki chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. As other reviewers have said, the green beans are definitely of the canned variety. The potatoes were cold and lumpy, and I make better grilled chicken breast at home. The sauce was like, Kraft teriyaki sauce. All topped with a ring/slice of canned pineapple. No good. The portion was also ridiculously small considering. My poor husband had the driest, coldest fried chicken of all time. When we got in the car after dinner, he literally compared it to cafeteria food. He also said his broccoli was not even close to being cooked, also was not seasoned at all. No one else at our table liked their food either, but I'm not going to speak for them. It was just a vibe at the table. Just disappointing. To be fair, there were definitely things we loved about Juniors. Like those Caesar salads! Wow! They're so good. I love that they make them table side. We each had one, and that was the highlight of the meal. We also loved the service. Both of the ladies taking care of us were fabulous. The drinks were also very strong. Expensive, but strong. We each had 2 mixed drinks. The decor is something else that's nice about this restaurant. It's so old school and awesome. The ambience and service made it a nice evening despite the food being subpar. I'd love to go to the bar sometime and just have a couple of drinks and a chicken Caesar salad. But I would never go back for dinner. Especially with a group. Honestly for special occasions, other restaurants offer more bang for your buck for about the same price (or less!) and way better food. Awesome experience, great bar, bad food. Again, our bill was $300 for 5 people, not including the tip, for roadside diner quality entrees plus drinks. read more

"What's Juniors like?" You may ask. Some may consider it a "piano bar" that caters to the older oil boom generation of OKC. This is true. Others may consider it just a cool place to hang on a Friday night. This is also true. Others may consider it a place that gobbles up your dinero. Also true, for one of my friends paid over $40 for 4 drinks. That's pretty pricey for OKC. Considering I had a $16 glass of Syrah, I would agree. However, the wine was so rich, it took me an hour to drink. So, when my buddy and I compared our hour of spending, I came out ahead, by like $4. See, who says being economical isn't sexy? This place gets crowded... and smoky, if you sit inside where the music and magic happens. The bar decor is cool, with roll-away over-sized chairs parked at the bar and the tables. If you're lucky, you'll catch a seat at the piano bar in the corner and be entertained for the evening (although you'd have to be somewhat deaf to think the singing does the original songs justice). There's an alluring and sensual red glow to the bar area. You can't help but be relaxed and amorous at the same time. Given any other bar, I wouldn't have been surprised to smell nagchampa and belly dancers. Then again, it's a piano bar in OKC. The only incense you're gonna get is from the cigar at the next table. You won't find any belly dancers here, either - just people bellied up to the bar. It's a fun place, very chill and laid back - which is great considering some of the patrons are still the older generation from the big oil boom in Oklahoma. I liked this place, but can't rate it any higher due to prices and smoke. (cough, cough) At one point, during the night, I faked labor contractions. I don't remember why - I think I was responding to a badly timed joke and thought faking pain was clever. (Yeah, sometimes I'm weird like that). That's when the waitress said I should move to their maternity table, for apparently 3 women have sat at that table and gone into labor. There was also a stroke table, which I was happy to avoid, as well as a blow j0b table, that, given the right night and company, could be pretty fun, I imagine. read more

I've only eaten here once, and I will recommend the Ceasar salad highly. And I've never recommended a Ceasar salad, so there. They have this other thing called Bourbon. Order that, in the bar. If you don't like 40+ year-old swingers, cigar smoke, crushed red velvet, stiff drinks or live piano, stick to Bricktown. Somehow this place hasn't been taken over by the skinny-pants kids, probably because Junior's isn't trying to be cool. It is legitimately cool. If you read the other reviews, you'll notice that most mention no food at all or only mention the Ceasar salad, so it should be no surprise when I say this was (and is) the worst steak I've had in Oklahoma - not just the city, I mean the entire state. And that's very sad for a place that's a steak house. I was with a group of 11 people, and the only ones that enjoyed their meal were the two that got fish instead of steak. Everyone else had issues with how their steak was prepared. Had the server ever come back to check on us, we may have remedied the issue, but after taking our orders, we never saw her again until after we'd finished eating (bus-boys did all the delivery). My ribeye was overdone on one end and underdone on the other; and my wife's filet tasted like a charcoal brickette. Factor in the $30+ price per steak and you can imagine why I won't be returning for a meal. If you do go, the Caesar is really good albeit pricey and small. But I'd suggest just about anywhere else to eat. It's one saving grace is that as a bar, it has a lot of potential if you like divey little spots. The decor takes you back to the high-rolling oil days and the drink prices are reasonable (at least for beers and wine). And the bar counter is low (i.e. table height) which is a feature I haven't seen elsewhere. So overall, I'd recommend avoiding the place like the plague, but if you really want to check it out, make sure it's for drinks and not for a meal. read more

Terrible customer appreciation. We generally like this bar because it's a quick place to stop before heading somewhere else... The negative review comes in with a quick rundown of how this place managed... Terribly. We asked for a simple screen change for one football game. None of the tvs were being watched by anyone else... the bar tender obliged but the 'owner-operator' quickly changed the channel. (he said... "we don't watch this SEC bullshit in my bar") (and I say 'operator' with hesitation because this guy had been sitting at a reserved table all night and didn't come out to help his own staff get out of the weeds... just kept going behind the bar to pour himself drinks) A true operator takes pride in his business and doesn't just sit down and get drunk while his own staff is in the weeds. After hearing my family brag about this place for years we finally went. The atmosphere was very, very nice. The wait staff was accommodating (there was 23 of us). However, the huge disapointment was the constant messing up of orders, untimely arrival of said orders, and the food... The steaks were dry, almost tasteless, and luke warm, to the point that most of us... (steaklovers brace yourselves) asked for some sort of steak sauce... for the price of the meals here one would expect the food to be at least good, (ok the crab legs were good but honestly its hard to mess up pre cooked crab legs). After speaking with the manager and his "oh well attitude" I can say that none of us will ever go back. And I would suggest others who wish to try this place to enjoy the atmosphere cause thats really what they will be paying for. read more

Junior's is an established long term restaurant in the basement of a local office building. I always consider this an "oilee" restaurant, as in one that over the years lots of oil employees and entrepreneurs have patronized and signed many deals here. It's kind of an Oklahoma City institution. The service is usually very good; food is pretty consistent (mainly known for steaks). Just had lunch here and while I would state they overcooked my "steakburger" the taste was quite good. Very "different" decor............kind of like "early whorehouse red".......LOL But if you go for a steak, you won't be disappointed........usually. I believe bar is smoking area and they maintain a separate space between smokers/non-smoking. read more

I don't understand how this place is getting such high reviews? Maybe, it's because the sweet little old lady is too sweet? I loved how she checked up on us every so often and helped the other employees with service. I think she maybe the restaurant manager or owner, not sure.. The food however was terrible! Well, the steaks were decent. Not much flavor, probably not the best cuts, but definitely edible. I had the 4oz filet and shrimp scampi which was pretty decent, but I could have cooked this meal better in my own kitchen, sorry. My husband had the 12oz ribeye, and he can usually finish a 22oz cowboy ribeye no problem, but he left about 4oz and said it was not good enough to finish, and that he couldn't eat anymore of it. Our entrees came with canned green beans and terribly presented garlic mash. I had a gut feeling the sides weren't going to be good so, I asked not to have anything but the main components on my plate. Hubby unfortunately got the sides, and every time I looked over, I wanted to vomit, sorry again. The water they serve tastes really bad. Kind of like the water that my bestfriend serves me at her house. Very old, flat, musty, and plain disgusting. I couldn't drink it, and neither could my husband. I also had a Sauvignon Blanc called 'The Ned' it was also gross when I usually can drink any type of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. My husband had a couple Old Fashions and the first time was delicious, but the second one he ordered tasted completely different and disappointing. The bread is just plain baked white bread, and they serve you crackers for some odd reason with your meal. Oh, and my husband had the Caesar Salad, but the salad greens were wilted and the Caesar dressing was wayyyy too salty. I know there's anchovies in the dressing, but usually the anchovies are subtle. This was not a subtle flavor. Anyways.. Hubby wanted to come here, I really wasn't looking forward to coming here, and my gut instinct was right about the food. The atmosphere was bad too. Cigar or cigarette smoke, old people perfume scented restaurant. It was really muggy and the seats made my legs itch from the material. The atmosphere can't be beat---dark red dining room, low lighting (but not too low), soft jazz music playing, an overall swanky and relaxing place for a meal. The food was not as good as it was 10 years ago, but it was still yummy. The green beans were canned but well seasoned. My salmon filet was dry. Baked potato was great! The service remains exceptional. Wait staff is friendly and very attentive. You are treated as if your table is the only one the wait staff is serving---gotta love that! Although the food was really just slightly better than average, the atmosphere and service certainly makes for an overall enjoyable place to dine with friends. Classy little joint. I saw a review that said that if James Bond were from OKC, he'd hang out here..and I couldn't agree more. Plush Red leather seats, live music, great bar. It's smoker friendly at the bar but until someone lit up right next to me, it really wasn't bad in there. The clientele seemed to be a group of regulars who all knew each other and were all more than a few drinks in. If you're the kind of person who doesn't mind a curious look and a conversation with a stranger, I'd recommend you'd check this place out. There aren't enough stars for Juniors. I've been a very regular customer since 1977 when I was accepted as a 'member.' It's not a private club anymore, open to all. They have a menu now too (no menu in the early days, 4 choices, very elegant, and you signed your check like in a Bogart movie) The elegance has survived all the trends in eating, which we enjoy too at other places. When we want a perfect, elegant lunch or dinner though it's Juniors. Hat and coat check. Maitre' de seating. Cloth-ed tables. Real waiters and busboys that have been there for 20 years. Perfect steaks and all entrees. Table prepped Caesar salad. Most use Visa or Amex now but Juniors still honors its old house accounts, I sign my check and go. Food & drink: I've never had a bad meal here. I ALWAYS take important clients there. It's also a romantic evening getaway for us. Take one of the chique wall tables. The 4 headliners are still there. ...NY Strip, filet, lobster tail and fried chicken, along with others added. Have escargot and the caesar. Wine list. Coffee and a brandy ice. Dance in the club. Not the Juniors of yester years. 1. Salmon was fishy smelly plain no seasoning or garnishment 2. 8 mushrooms for $5.50 soaked in butter no seasonings. 3. Baked potato uncut, served with garnishment on side, ugly. 4. French fries were "cottage" fancy word for frozen tater tot freezer burned, worse than any fries at fast foods. 5. Green beans big mushy canned from Sam's canned, not fresh. 6. Corn on cob, half a corn that was previously frozen, like Green Giant frozen corn. 7. Coconut cream pie not homemade store bought and thawed out. Nothing puffy or homemade about it. 8. Coffee, Cain's coffee weak, terrible. I called the owner. This is what he said. "All I can say is I apologize. You should have asked for steak fries. You have to ask for Caesar salad to be made at your table. It is not automatic. I've had this restaurant for 13 years. It's the same restaurant as it has always been." No sir. I could have had a better meal at Steak and Shake or Burger King. The worst fine dining experience. No pride at all in the food. Junior's used to be my favorite OKC restaurant. I've been going there for 20 years. Went tonight for Vday and the food was still good, but the dish that kept me coming back, the lobster tail, was about 1/3 the size that they used to be for a higher price. I was really stunned when they brought it out and I even asked if this was the full portion and they said it was. I couldn't believe it when the bill came.
