I'm slightly saddened by the low reviews. But then again I only had the mole and maybe the rest of it is whatever. This place is very unassuming - middle of a strip mall, cheesy looking sign, you know. But my sister and I were in the middle of moving out of our place and there was no way we were about cook. So we walked across the street and she's like, "I am craving Oaxacan." I didn't know it was possible to crave such a thing. And it was super hot and we were tired from moving and the last thing I wanted was a giant plate of rice and beans to put me in a food coma. But since I let her pick, I gave in and we went to Villas. I was very pleasantly surprised. Sure the interior is as unassuming as the exterior. But the service is prompt, your water glasses stay full and HOLY GOD THAT MOLE. It is fabulous. Really outstanding. A hint of chocolate mixed with savory spices in a silky smooth sauce. I had it with the pork and she had it with chorizo and they were both splendid. Not a plate full of rice and bean filler either. It was the perfect level of filling. I'm kind of sad that I didn't try this place out until the day before I moved away. Oh well. Location is good, parking could be hard. Food is yummy service is fast, stuff is friendly and it is cheap. 9 dollars for beef, salad rice and beans. I will definetly go there again to try breakfast menus which are 5 dollars. read more

Great veggie burrito, fresh ingredients. Extra points for garlic. I love garlic. And onions. It would be even better if they had a salsa bar. Restaurant is very clean and has a relaxed atmosphere. The people who work there are very nice as well. I'll be back to try the black mole. read more

So good! I just left and had to write a review immediately. I went to high school in Mexico City and the green sauce there was heavy on tomatillos. A wonderful balance of spice and sour that's perfect with enchiladas. I almost never find that version in LA but this place has it and its so tasty. The rice was great, soft, fluffy with the added bonus of a hint of garlic. The salsa is fresh and from 3-9 the margs are $4. I accidentally poured mine down my windpipe out of sheer excitement to be having margaritas in the middle of the day and promptly made a scene. sigh. Everyone was so nice about it. YUM. Just moved out to LA, but I think I might have just found my new favorite place. I had some friends in from out of town and we wanted a quick, cheap, lighter lunch and figured Mexican might be the way to go. Driving up to it, we had our reservations - it doesn't look like much from the outside (hole-in-the-wall, blink-and-you'll-miss-it strip mall on Venice), but Villa is really bright and friendly inside. Great service, DELICIOUS salsa for our chips (definitely on the spicier end, although I'm a heat wimp). I had chicken tacos - moist, flavorful chicken with a dash of salsa and tons of cilantro and onions - perfect. One friend had tacos (one chicken, one al pastor, I think) , and the other had huevos rancheros (which looked to DIE for - she said they were delicious). Don't judge this book by its cover. I have been coming to Juquila for years. The food is delicious Norma and Jose Luis are wonderful. They have the best customer service.

We came to this center looking for a Japanese restaurant that no longer exists so we decided to try this place. The service was super fast and their agua frescas were delicious! The only thing that was disappointing for me was that they do cook on the spicy side but it was perfectly fine for the other members of my group, just my personal preference. It's in a tiny strip mall with inadequate parking for so many restaurants and it looks like it will be a dive inside from the outside. But, it's actually quite nice! Nice tables, Good service, and the food is still inexpensive Mexican prices. I had the Chilaquiles and changed around the order to my liking. I don't claim this to be gourmet or the best Mexican ever, but when I want a sit down place on a budget, this place is perfect. The Mole tastes pretty authentic & good, and I had it with Carnitas instead of Chicken. If you just want a burrito, I would probably go elsewhere, but they have a nice selection of mexican dishes to choose from. read more

This place is usually pretty good. I have only sat down here once (I usually take out) but I tell you the enchiladas are OUT OF THIS WORLD. There is some sort of sweet yet semi spicey sauce that they use which is just AMAZING. That being said I usually take out from the place since the actual "restaurant" area is quite small but the staff is freindly and fast. Really good selection of Mexican Beer (Negro Modelo!) and bottomless chips/salsa if you dine in. All around excellent place if you crave Mexican Food near Downtown Culver. read more

This place is a joke. Stopped in for lunch to order an asada and a pastor burrito. The cook took a quick looked over her shoulder at me, grabbed a raw strip of asada out of the draw with her bare hands, ripped it in half, threw half on the grill, and the other half back in the draw. I didn't that but also didn't want to make a scene in front of the few customers that were there, so i gave her the benefit of the doubt that her hands were atleast clean, and hoped that the grill would take care of any germs. The burrito was small and full of rice. I was lucky to get one small piece of meat in each bite. The green salsa was watery and the to go cups were small. It's a hole in the wall. But I tried their grilled chicken fajitas. It was delicious. I did not order their fried beans or rice or tortillas. Just ate it w the salad. I am satisfied. I went to the neighbor restaurant today and was annoyed by the really loud and heavy music coming from this place. I felt that the whole rooftop was shaking and my heart beats so fast. It's EXTREMELY uncomfortable and unbearable. Have some common sense, you are not the only restaurant in the plaza and clearly it's not a suitable place for party. read more

I can't stop going to this place. I've seriously been like, once or more (closer to 3) times a week since I've found it. I'm addicted. I recently had a surprise birthday party for my girlfriend there. They were awesome and totally accommodating. I will admit the consistency of their Carne Asade cuts does seem to vary. I got it once and it was pretty fatty and chewy, but every other time I've gotten their carne asade it's been AMAZING. This place is a gem. It is surrounded by a bunch of pretty junky restaurants in a rundown strip mall on Venice Blvd. It took me well over a year to give it a try. If you love mole, the mole poblano here is legit. It's funny, you can pay close to $30 for watered-down, flavorless mole at Red O, or $10 for thick, flavorful, complex mole at Villa Tacos. It's a pretty easy call. Relaxing atmosphere. Good nachos, chips, and salsa. And very friendly staff. This is a must try! read more

Juquila has amazing food, has to be the most authentic Mexican food I have had in a long time. I've been twice now and had the same server. Mario is extremely nice, helpful and friendly. I don't think I would be still going there if it weren't for the fact that he is such a great server. I discovered this place because it's in the same plaza as my favorite Thai place. For around $10, you can get a tostada (pretty hefty portions) and unlimited chips and salsa. Plus, the waitress was really nice, and often asked if we needed refills on water (I drink a lot of water). Parking isn't a problem, and the food tastes pretty good. so I went there and ordered a veggie burrito which was 5.99 and asked if they can use a corn tortilla instead since I can't have wheat... and they said yes..So I went home and looked at the burrito and notice they used wheat tortilla. Used to like coming here until the owner got greedy and changed the prices and good portions. Now I pay $2 for half of a taco they used to serve, it's beyond ridiculous. The y got so cheap they don't even have real jalapeños anymore. They charge $2.50 for small little cup of beans when before they brought out a whole plate. I won't be coming back here anymore. There's lots of better Mexican places around. It's always hot because they don't want to waste money turning on the air conditioner and the bathrooms are always dirty. It's really a shame because the food taste really food but the service is horrible and owner has gotten extremely greedy with the portions and prices.
