I went today with a friend for lunch and really was impressed by the quality and what we received. I got the large with two different pokies and two sides and it was enough for two meals for me. First glance, the fish here is pretty fresh! Fresh than most places I have tried so far, so this is quite close to getting fresh poke. It comes with a some choices of sides, and your choice of rice or no rice. Apparently they charge more for no rice, so maybe they give more? First few bites, everything is very fresh. The spicy was pleasantly spicy and does burn a bit, but pretty nice! The shoyu is more mild, but also just tastes saltier the more you eat it. Overall, the poke here is pretty good and the price is very reasonable for what it is. In fact, it's a bit cheaper than most places I've seen! It does not come close to the poke quality I had in Hawaii, but it "feels" like it. Especially the atmosphere and the choice of music they got going on. I came by this afternoon after waiting in a long line, and the service was just terrible. As soon as I started ordering, the woman scooping our poke looked me and my friends up and down and made a disgusted face. We had already waited over 20 minutes for our food, so being judged that openly was really disappointing. She barely acknowledged us while taking our order, didn't confirm anything, and even scooped some fish only to scrape half of it back off. It just felt rude and unwelcoming. The food is delicious, and I understand why the wait is always so long, but the judgmental attitude from the staff really ruined the experience. I don't feel comfortable coming back with my female friends because we felt judged, and the service reflected that. The next time I visited my boyfriend, I went to hang out with her as well and I went to Jus' Poke for the first time. Holy crap. The fish was some of the freshest I'd ever have (east coast native and worked as a fish monger for 8 years) and hands down the tastiest. Immediately after returning to my boyfriend's house, I was like "WE NEED TO GO BACK". Every single time I come out to California, we go here at least once. He lives a bit closer to Redondo now, so we try to make it 2-3 times. It is worth it every time. I think about this place weekly; it is my Roman Empire (that and The Taco Stand). My friends and I went between 5 and 6 pm and the people doing the scooping at the front were horrible. They were super super rude. (Guy with the mac miller shirt and the guy with the Lexus hat). They served us mostly onions and mayo. There was almost no fish. They purposely overfilled with the sides so that there was no room for the fish. They were also extremely slow. We waited almost an hour only for them to serve us almost no food...and the line wasn't even that long. They were just insanely slow. Maybe they're told to do it on purpose so there's always a "line" lol? The portions were small and also something we noticed right away was how dirty everything was, especially the food bins where the raw fish is being scooped. Like I said, I've been here a million times and it's never ever looked this nasty. Both my friend and I agreed that if this was our first time here, we wouldn't come back. Not when their prices have gone up, their portions have been halved, and their service sucks. I've wanted to love this place for a long time. It's always busy, there's almost always a line and after plenty of visits I figured I'd eventually understand the hype. I still don't. The poke is good, but never memorable. The seasoning does its job, but the fish itself has never had that clean, buttery freshness that makes you slow down after the first bite. The sides don't help. The pickled cucumbers are far too sour for my taste and the seaweed salad has that overly slick, gummy texture that overwhelms everything around it instead of balancing the bowl. My biggest disappointment is the rice. I'm picky about rice because it isn't just something sitting underneath the fish, it's half the meal. Here it's consistently clumpy and soggier than I'd like and it holds the entire bowl back. I understand why people enjoy it. The portions are generous, the prices are fair and the staff has always been friendly. But popularity has never been a substitute for quality. Maybe I'm the outlier. That's fine. It was good but not great I ordered the spicy and the Hawaiian pokes. The spicy was really mayo'ee. The heat level was okay. The Hawaiian was fine. The fish used was uber fresh but the knife cuts were all over the place. The brown rice was on the dry, hard side (like it was undercooked or had been sitting out for too long). (And If I remember correctly, the large is just under $20) A regular bowl comes with - 2 scoops of poké (either double up on 1 flavor or select 2 flavors) - your choice of white rice, brown rice, salad base - 2 sides - furikake and/or sesame seeds as toppings Absolutely love the CA Roll, Shoyu, and Spicy flavors! Occasionally when I'm extra hungry and tempted to try a different flavor, I'll order another 1/3 of a lb. For the sides, their pickled cucumbers are definitely a crowd favorite. My personal go to's are the spicy edamame and seaweed salad. Parking lot is super cramped, the building is small, space/seating is super limited - so it's not much a dine in type of spot. More like grab and go. I usually spot 2-3 staff members each time I visit. Given these circumstances, the line can get long very quickly. Even so, I honestly believe the staff's customer service falls under the S-Tier.
