Living in Portland you are bound to stumble upon great eateries and Just Bob is one of those hidden gems in the city that I've been lucky enough to stumble upon. Located right off NE 24th and Alberta, this cozy little café has everything you need on a nice cold or warm day. Here's my testimony.. I came here during the week of Snopocalypse 2017 to celebrate one of my dear friend's birthday. The roads were still covered with sheets of snow and ice which caused a lot of the neighboring restaurants, bars, and cafes to shut down (understandable) - but not Just Bob's! We ventured out on foot to Alberta with hopes that some place nearby would be open with good food, and then we saw that the café, Just Bob was open. The café remained open during normal business hours, and the staff was just as welcoming to have us. When arriving, I was so surprised to see how cozy and warm it was. The staff was friendly and had smiles on their faces, and an eagerness to be there to serve customers. We ordered our coffee and food from the Breakfast menu and nestled into a corner of the cafe. I ordered the Belgian waffle with berry toppings, and an egg scramble w/ added bacon. I must've forgotten to say that I wanted the berry toppings on my waffle, or he simply didn't hear me which was fine, as I was not at all upset. So when my order failed to come out with everyone else's, the gentleman came to our table, apologized and gave me money back for the waffle and apologized for the wait/confusion. I was quite confused myself and didn't understand because I was more than willing to pay the remaining amount due for my order, but I thought that was the nicest gesture ever!! I ended up leaving the money that he gave back to me in the tip jar + more. I later found out that the gentleman taking our order behind the counter was Bob himself! I have never been so pleased with a brunch spot as I had been on that day. From the homey feel of the décor, free wifii, and the wide variety of café items on the menu.. Just Bob is a definite recommend. They even have a little play space for the kiddos that is hidden in the back. I can't say enough great things about this cafe. It will likely be a new favorite local spot to go to for brunch & coffee! read more

Just Bob's is by far one of the most authentic "Portland" places left in this city. Customers and staff who truly care about their neighborhoods, city, and co-inhabitants. To get on them and give poor reviews given what just happened in our country is really sad. To review a business that you aren't even a patron of... even more disturbing. Freedom of speech is still the law of the land (for now at least). To jump on your internet soapbox and possibly affect a local business you don't even frequent is pretty sad. Being offended by a profane word on a sign is pretty trivial given what just happened to our democracy and future. Look at the examples of your president elect. Profanity pales in comparison to the lack of common decency we are facing. read more

I have nothing bad to say about this place. It was our first time there, we took a look at the menu from the outside, which was a more simplified menu than the one up on the chalkboard, inside( or at least I thought so). The atmosphere is warm and hip, great place to chill, do work, chat, over a cup of coffee etc. Nonetheless, the food was simple, but tasty.. Great bagles and eggs cafe for your breakfast fix. The price is perfect for the amount of food they serve. Their coffee is pretty great also! I had the "Anna B" 2 eggs scramble, and I would definitely get it again! Delightful find tucked away in Portland's Alberta neighborhood. Come for the breakfast scramble and stay for the whimsical unicorn decor.

Friendliest place on Alberta. Truly. Bob is usually present and greeting everyone, the barista's are engaging and accommodating. You can change anything on the menu to your preference and they will make it happen. The RIO Bowl is my favorite and I've introduced it to many friends who all love it now also. Add some peanut butter for protein or get it dairy free. It's a great breakfast alternative. Egg sandwiches and scrambles are delicious. I haven't tried the waffles yet, but they look and smell wonderful as they go by. My only critique is the couple of baked goods I've tried there are dry and not flavorful; I don't need them anyway. I am baffled that this place has such high reviews. Yelp usually doesn't steer me wrong but in this case it did. How does a place that microwaves their eggs have above a 3 star?? We were staying at an Airbnb in the area and this is where we went on our first morning based on yelp reviews. Really bummed I wasted one of my meals in Portland on this place considering that Portland is such a foodie town with an abundance of amazing food. I nearly broke my jaw trying to chew through my bagel which I am guessing was not very fresh. The only plus was that the service was friendly, I liked the laid back vibe of the place, and they had a cute little kids corner for my son to enjoy. Loved this place. My coworker and me were walking past so we stopped in. Very nice people. The husband and wife were both very sweet. Didn't really try any food besides their bagel chips they were very good and I had two awesome drinks. They are definitely a awesome couple. We talked about work, school, and our families. I love this cafe. It used to be Anna Banana's, which I enjoyed and frequented. It's basically the same cafe with a different name and better wall colors/improved decor. The owner, Bob Chang, is really warm and friendly. I always feel welcome here. The baristas are super friendly too. They're not cold and icy or trying to be too cool to talk to you like at some other places. It's cozy and usually pretty quiet, but not so quiet that it's weird. I go here to enjoy a latte and read by myself. I advise getting food elsewhere because the food menu is slim. read more

I've walked past this place many times but never actually gone inside. This morning I finally did, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is very comforting, and it made me want to keep coming back just to hang out. I had an iced latte that was on the dot. I ordered the Lox scramble which consisted of salmon, capers and cream cheese, and it was absolutely delightful! Their menu is simple but also enough for a quick breakfast with your coffee. Perhaps the worst coffee house in Portland? Honestly we thought we were on candid camera. My wife and I ordered 2 cafe au laits, one danish and one bagel with cream cheese. The coffee was tepid and flavorless , the Danish had mold and they forgot the bagel order. The shop was half empty on a Sunday afternoon and the staff seemed pretty disinterested. Such a chill and relaxing space. The Mexican mocha is creamy and finishes with a light cinnamon kick. The H and C hand pie is a decent size and made to order. It is flaky, cheesy and a delight to eat. The music and ambiance is a 3rd-wave-ska and folk-punk double album vinyl release. The staff was very warm and helpful. I came here with my two year old while my wife went bra shopping next door at The Pencil Test. Coincidentally, there is a fantastic play area corner in the back that my daughter loved. The food and coffee there is so good! Definitely not overpriced and the customer service there was above and beyond. I took my special needs client there for lunch and it is the first restaurant I've been to in Portland that didn't hassle me over him. He can't wear a mask and the mask mandate excludes him as it does little kids but a lot of places still refuse to let him in or have even yelled at him. This is the only restaurant that has been friendly, understanding, and has engaged with him as a person. They're still super covid friendly. Would recommend going there. read more

This is by far the best coffee shop in town. The owners, Bob and Farren, as well as the Baristas, Morgan, talon, Andre, Becky, and Jonas will remember your order and treat you like family if you come in more than once. They always have superb customer service. On Sundays there's live music and every month they feature new local artists on the walls. This is a cozy place to grab a cup of tea or coffee with a friend in the winter months, and a great place to enjoy some sun and a beer in the summer. Bagel breakfast sandwich was underwhelming, the bagel was good, but it was served with a piece of cheese slapped on, not even melted, and an egg that looked like it was microwaved. Service was nothing special, though they were speedy. Outlets were hard to come by as well. Overall given the saturation of stellar coffee shops in Pdx, I don't really feel compelled to come back here. read more
