I'm so happy that these folks chose to open their business here at 64 and LaFox Rd. We needed a good pet grooming business close to home! John took great care of our Bassador, Jack. He is very patient and spent time putting him at ease before getting him up on the table. I really appreciated the fact that I didn't have to leave him for an extended period for a bath. DO NOT take your dog to this groomer. More importantly, NEVER take a standard poodle to this groomer. I have a toy and standard poodle and am very experienced with groomer visits for my dogs. I recently moved to the area from downtown Chicago, where I had a wonderful groomer. To avoid driving to Chicago, I tried Just for Paws. My dogs were groomed by a woman named Kate, who is the worst dog groomer I have ever encountered. I gave her explicit instructions regarding my dogs grooming, showed her countless pictures of their previous haircuts (which looked nothing like the dogs I got back after she was done butchering them), and spoke to her for quite some time. After I left, she called to let me know my standard poodle's "boots" were matted and would need to be shorter than the pictures I showed her. His "boots" were about 3 inches longer than the rest of his haircut, so I was alright with them going shorter, but made sure to tell her that I wanted some of the boot left. We also discussed his ears, which were very long standard poodle ears and I told her those could be slightly shorter as well. Kate never once uttered the word "shave" when I spoke to her in person or on the phone. Guess what Kate did? She SHAVED MY STANDARD POODLE. Not even an inch of hair on his entire body, all one length, with completed shaved ears. To claim to be a groomer and SHAVE a standard poodle is unconscionable. It's disgusting that someone who would do that to a dog with such beautiful hair could even think to call themselves a dog groomer or even a dog lover. On top of the butchering and destruction of my dogs beautiful red poodle coat done by Kate, let's talk about how she handled the situation when we picked up the dogs. I heard both of my dogs barking for me and scratching at the door all the way in the back to come find me. Kate snuck out of that room, trapping my dogs in there. She didn't want me to see what they looked like before I paid her. I paid $70.00 for my standard poodle to be groomed in Chicago. Just for Paws said their base fee for a standard poodle is $100.00, but because he was matted in the ears and boots (only two matted places on the whole dog), the were charging $25.00 extra. So I was charged $125.00 for a de-matting fee when there WAS NO DE-MATTING performed. I doubt my dog was even brushed. Instead, I'm sure he was shaved down to his skin and then maybe given a bath, because he didn't even smell like shampoo. I could have done this at home myself if I wanted my dog shaved, which I DID NOT. And then on top of that, I was charged an extra fee for LAZINESS! I took the dogs to my car and tried to calm down because I was in total shock. Then I went back in to tell them how unhappy I was with what happened and asked for my money back. Then, John, the owner I believe, proceeded to get very argumentative with me while I pleaded with him to stop arguing with me and just refund my money for the poor services provided. He attempted to then refund me $70.00. I'm not sure if Kate was up charging me to $125.00 without him knowing and pocketing the money or what, but he seemed to have no idea how much I was actually charged. After more arguing with this terrible business owner, I finally got the proper amount of money refunded and walked out with John yelling even more as I walked out. John also gave me the money back while asking that I don't put any bad review online, almost like he wouldn't' give me the money back if I were going to give them a bad review. BAD BUSINESS! Again, I urge you, DO NOT go to this groomer. They do not know what they are doing and do not listen to their customers. Even worse, if you have a complaint, the owner will fight with you about it instead of immediately do the right thing. He and his employee Kate knew my dog should not have been shaved. A standard poodle should never be completely shaved unless someone requests that service. They knew they were in the wrong and they should be ashamed of what they did to my dog. It will take over a year to get his hair back to what it was and my dog is extremely uncomfortable with his haircut and will likely even be prone to a sunburn this summer because his skin is visible through what little hair he has left. Everyone who has seen him has been horrified at what happened to his beautiful hair and you'd better believe I will spread the word about this terrible groomer to save anyone else from going through this. WORST GROOMING EXPERIENCE EVER! Update: I reviewed this business on Facebook as well and the business has either blocked me or deleted their page altogether. Looks like that 5 star rating on Facebook they had might have involved a lot of manipulation. read more

I've taken my dogs to countless groomers over the years and I'm so happy that I can finally stop searching for the best fit. Just For Paws is phenomenal! Their grooming facility is beautiful, clean, and peaceful (even after the post-COVID lockdown rush). Their storefront is always stocked with the best chews, treats, and specialty food that we stock up on every time we visit. Best of all, the owners and staff are truly outstanding! It makes me smile when they greet me and my dogs by name when we walk in, they always make sure they know exactly what I'm looking for and remember our past requests, and they always give my dogs tons of love. I currently have two socialite pups and one very anxious puppy. I was so worried my puppy would give them hell during her first groom (she put up a big fight with me) and it would be a traumatizing experience for her. When I picked her up she was beautiful, calm, happy, and in no hurry to leave her new friends. All of their haircuts have been spot on for their breeds (Bichon/Cavalier mix, Sheltie, and Aussie). We're lifers with this wonderful business. I cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

With a large, very hairy collie grooming can be a groomers nightmare. ( I know, my daughters owns a grooming business in oklahoma). I am so pleased with Just For Paws. Our dog, Madison, was beautifully groomed and even more important came back to us happy. We have tried two other groomers and either so much soap was used that it wasn't rinsed enough, or not enough hair was brushed out. They did an outstanding job. I couldn't be more pleased. read more

when I dropped my dog off I told john (the owner) that my dog cries a lot and even though he is very small he is still a big baby. it wasn't even ten minutes after I left john called me saying that my dog was crying too much and that it was disturbing the other businesses around them! when I got there I asked him if he just didn't want to work on my dog because I couldn't believe he didn't want to groom my dog cause he was crying! he said no but he was crying too much! really!!! saying you can't groom a dog because he cries is like a plumber saying he can't fix your sink because he may get wet!!!! very very disappointed, so if your dog cries at all don't go there read more

5 Stars are simply not adequate to express how wonderful this establishment is! We began coming here shortly after moving to Elburn and recommend Kate, our groomer at Just for Paws, to everyone we meet. (Because of Kate's skills, we meet a lot of people on the street who stop us to compliment Cooper's appearance!) He is a Maltese and with fairly long fur. I am so comfortable knowing that Kate would never cut any amount of length without discussing it with us first. She is incredibly talented at her trade. Most importantly, I feel confident knowing that they take wonderful care of Cooper, while he is there. He is always attended and grooming tables are out on the floor so that they are in view at all times. When he is waiting to be picked up, he remains in roomy doghouse out on the floor. Often they put Cooper behind the desk near a window so that he can look outside while he waits. Overall, aside from being clearly talented at their skillset, I would describe the staff at Just for Paws as being kind, warm and professional. read more
