K&K Floors was among the vendors who received high marks on Angie's List, so they were among the companies we contacted to refinish hardwood floors and replace all of our carpet, upstairs and downstairs. We met with a salesperson at our home and at their showroom and their estimates were quite good, so we decided to give K&K our jobs. However, things began getting bad with missed appointments and inaccurate contracts. We were just about ready to go with another company, but decided to call K&K one more time, because their prices were so reasonable. One of the owners answered and told us that our salesperson was let go because he did not represent the quality K&K wanted to present. She asked that we give them another chance and we are so glad that we did. John Kim took over our account and honored all previous estimates. John was able to answer all of our concerns and everything was finally handled very professionally. We had the floors refinished this week. The third coat of urethane was applied today and the floors look marvelous! Technicians, Ti (sp) and Pablo, have been together at K&K for nine years and work with the precision of a championship doubles tennis team. I think Ti was almost more excited with the final results than we are. We couldn't be happier with K&K Floors. Unfortunately my experience with K & K Flooring was absolutely horrendous. I had a service pro come out and give me an estimate on tearing out old carpet and replacing the carpet on my stairs with flooring that matched the color and texture of my laminate. After talking with the service pro he convinced me that they would have no problems matching the laminate with the treads that will go on the stairs and gave me a fair price. In early June, we went to K & K to sign paperwork and submit payment and scheduled the service for July 25th. This is when things went south very quickly. On July 23rd, two days before the service date, the service pro contacted me asking if he could reschedule for the following Monday because one of his installers quit or went on vacation or something. Not a big deal only a couple days later. Saturday July 28th rolls around and I get a call saying that they can't find a stain that properly matched my laminate flooring. Not good considering this should have been discovered much earlier. The service pro said he was going to try a couple things and let me know how they turned out. Early the following week he asks me to come in to take a look at their sample because they cannot find a close match to the flooring in my living room. My wife and I go in on Saturday August 4th to look at a sample that looked like gray paint on wood, not even close to what our laminate looks like. We talk and look at different samples on the K&K floor until we come across one that we could make work. Not the 98% match that I was promised at the beginning of the project but with a baby due in a couple weeks we just wanted it close and the floor to be installed. The service pro said he would make it happen and that his installers would be there the following Wednesday, August 8th. I asked for a sample to be dropped of before it was to be installed. Needless to say they cancelled the August 8th date because they couldn't match the stain to the floor. I received the sample on Thursday, August 9th which again looked like gray paint on some wood. Not even a 50% match of our current floor. After some back and forth of them saying "let me try this", "let me try that" I had finally had enough. Their lack of communication and professionalism truly blew my mind. I ended up being refunded but truly wasted 2 valuable months with a newborn on the way. After reading such amazing reviews in June I truly thought this place would do me right and I would be happy with the project but I could not have been more disappointed with how misled I was throughout this process. It truly is a shame how high my hopes were and how forgiving I was during this process but please avoid this company at all costs. It could not have been that difficult of a project as we went to Sherwin Williams to see if they would match the color and they did it within 48 hours. I'm not a business owner but if you can't match a color in house, I would do everything I promised the customer I would do to match the stain even if I had to use a new distributor for a project. K&K you truly are a disappointment and I hope no other families have to experience the headache I've gone through. read more

The transaction started out well, but the end product was anything but. My salesman, Mike, came to the house as scheduled and gave me an estimate to refinish the floors and to repair a tile area by the door (for an additional fee of $500). I explained to him that, since I just bought the house, I did not know what was under the tile. He said he didn't either and that was why they were charging me $500 for "worst case scenario." He explained that, if there was not wood underneath the tile, that they would replace the wood. I also showed Mike a trap door to the basement in the closet and explained that I wanted to get a door that matched the stain of the floors. Mike said "that shouldn't be a problem." Fast forward to yesterday, when the work was supposed to begin. The worker came to the house and explained that he knew nothing about the trap door. I called Mike and was informed that they "are not handymen" and they weren't going to do the work. I asked Mike when he had planned on telling me and he informed me it was right then. I explained that I would go to Home Depot to get a piece of wood in that size and asked if they could at least stain it the same color. I was told they would. I emailed Mike to follow up. I came back today to pay them for the finished work. I walk into the house and see that there is a huge concrete slab by the front door and that the trap door no longer exists--they covered it over with wood. When I called to ask what was going on, Mike told me that his worker told him that I said to cover the trap door and that he followed that instruction despite my email to him and without checking with me. He also informed me that they would not be fixing the concrete slab by the door. So now here I am trying to figure out how to replace the trap door and I need to get a new flooring company in to fix the area they conveniently left. read more

We contracted with K&K Floors about 2 weeks ago to install our hardwoods. We received 4 quotes in total and selected K&K based on price, customer service, and total value. They were not the cheapest, but we felt we got the best value from them. One of the quotes was almost 2x in cost with a lower quality product. The K&K quote was for Bruce Manchester, one of the best quality woods Bruce produces. We were very happy with the speed of installation and the attention to detail to make the floors look spectacular. They did a pretty good job of cleaning up as well. We have a couple more projects that we plan on doing and will be happy to work with K&K again in the future. read more

They came out and were friendly, professional, very knowledgeable, did NOT try to overstate the problems with our current floor. Instead they pointed out the problem areas versus things that are normal for a redone hardwood floor, agreed it wasn't done right but that it wasn't the worst ever, and at the end did NOT try to sell us more work! K&K came out to do some resurface work and install new hardwood upstairs. Estimator was pleasant and got me the quote on the same day. We were satisfied with the quoted price, so we went ahead and scheduled for them to work on our home. We received delivery of the hardwood within the week, and the installation upstairs took one day. The resurfacing took a few days, but it turned out excellent, and the upstairs and downstairs hardwood is well matched. Lastly, they did a great job cleaning up after everything was completed. I know K&K gets great reviews here and on Angies. I called them for an estimate little over a year ago, a Mr. Kim came and measured. Talked a lot about doing a lot of stuff (he was here probably over an hour) and about how he was a general contractor and stuff. Said that there was a big store in Chantilly and I should come and see their samples. I was supposed to get an estimate by email. Well, that email never came. I called K&K and an assistant took my name and said Mr. Kim would call me back ASAP. Well Mr. Kim never called me back. A week later I called and said that Mr. Kim still had not called or emailed me regarding the estimate and if I didn't hear from him by tomorrow, I would not use them. The assistant assured me that Mr. Kim would call me that day. Of course, I never got a call or email. Totally wasted 5 phone calls (3 just to arrange the appointment) and two weeks from them. To this day, I thought the confusion may have been that I was suppose to go to the store prior to getting the estimate. But at no point during my phone calls did anyone made this clear. I used K&K do all the hardwood floors for the upstairs of my house. The customer service was great. They came by and then provided me with an estimate, which I thought was comparable and fair. I really liked the person who did the estimate. estimate. It was a pretty large process to do all the hardwood floors in my upstairs, but from beginning to end, the guy who did the estimate was always checking in with me about the timeline and how long it was going to take. His follow-up was good, too. He came by after the project was done to make sure there were no problems. There were a couple floor boards that needed to be fixed because of a ding or whatever, and they were quick to come back within a couple of weeks and fix those. I'll probably use them for a future project on another room that needs a new floor. read more

I was very impressed with their work. For the upstairs floor of about 3000 sq.ft, they had finished for only two days including two stairs. All the staffs were very professional and detail oriented. I was worried about dust all over the house during removing the carpet and the installation of the wood floor but it was not much since they did a good job with isolation as well. Especially, Areli did a beautiful job cutting the stepping piece on stairs. Since a few last steps in one stair should be fit with the curved wall, it could be tricky and required maestro's hand. Instead of carpet, the hickory raw textured wood floor looks definitely beautiful. I am very sure this increases the value of my house. My husband and I are very satisfied. After having a relatively poor experience on a hardwood job before, I reached out to a couple of recommended companies. No one responded. I Googled and found K & K. They had excellent reviews. I emailed them and got a response early the next morning. John came out, gave me a quote, and even recommended me a less expensive option if I wanted it. It was my personal choice and he said to give it some thought. I chose my flooring and he gave me days and times to choose from. His team came today. They ripped up carpet and hardwood and replaced it with new hardwood. His team was polite, kind, and efficient. I was blown away when they called me downstairs. They had cleaned the new floors; arranged the furniture they had moved to look like a showroom; PUT PADS DOWN UNDER THE FURNITURE TO PROTECT THE WOOD; and gave me recommendations on how to care for it. They only left 30 minutes ago, and I can't imagine using a different company. If you haven't picked a company, I recommend going to their site and filling out an estimate request. read more

I called K & K for a quote and Seth answered. He was so polite and helpful and I got a great vibe immediately! I called five other companies for hardwood floor quotes and K & K ended up being my favorite (I went with my gut). They weren't the cheapest quote, but they were the second cheapest, which was good. They brought samples, explained the process thoroughly and told me they could get me scheduled and get the project done relatively quickly (within two days!) I was worried about my subfloor being uneven, but Seth reassured me that they could make it happen, even when other companies were causing me to worry more about potential pitfalls with the subfloor. The K & K guys arrived on time, were professional, and worked so hard that they got my floors done in one day! And that's with demo and installation! On November 14, 2018, K&K Floors installed 5" Oak Gunstock wood in our first floor living room, dining room, office, foyer, stairs and 2nd floor hall. We first met with the K&K salesman, Mike, and were impressed with his reasonable estimate, and the low-pressure manner with which Mike conducted the appointment. K&K was recommended to us by a number of our neighbors who had hired them to install their flooring. The installers arrived promptly, spread cloths to reduce dust and damage to other floors and carpet. During the 2 days of the project the installers were Ariel, Domingo, Saul, and Jesus, all of whom worked as a team. All sawing was done outside our house. They "fingered" the 5" floor to blend seamlessly with the kitchen which had floors installed earlier. All doorways between previous flooring and the new floors were completely level so that my wheelchair could pass without "bumps." The stairs were cut back at their shop and installed here. The door seams upstairs between the floors and the carpet were also done without "bumps." The seams between boards were carefully inspected to make sure they were tight. In our estimate, all the installers were highly skilled in the different tasks needed for the project. Also, they were most courteous and accommodating in answering our questions. During the project the K&K owner came to make sure the project was proceeding properly. We are pleased that we hired K&K Floors to do our work and without hesitation we recommend them. James came to our home and was very professional. We liked the fact that the job was clearly stated in the contract and very affordable. In early 2015 we bought a townhouse in Tysons Corner area and would like an upgrade of the kitchen floor. The old floor was vinyl, the removal of which would be time consuming and expensive. When my wife talked with James from K&K Hardwood Floor and explained our situation, he recommended that instead of removal of the vinyl floor, it was possible to directly put a layer of laminate on top of the vinyl floor. We liked that idea and signed a contract with K&K and selected the type of laminate we wanted (without any push from James for the higher end choices). On the day of the installation, two gentlemen showed up and finished the job flawlessly at a very reasonable price (include materials and labor). My wife and I really appreciated the help from K&K to make our new place enjoyable. If we have future home improvement projects concerning floors, we would call James at K&K again! read more

We just installed hardwood throughout our house. K&K did a fabulous job! James, our rep, did everything he could to make the project easy and every one of the installers (we had 5 for a couple of the days) were helpful, accommodating and professional. They had to remove carpeting and old wood throughout, and they covered everything in plastic, sealed all doors to rooms not involved in the project, and protected walls and stairs and kept dust at a minimum. Floors were purchased from K & K and installed in our home, and after the floors were install we noticed the floors were damaged and we explained them this situation and they said that that is not there problem anymore. we are stuck with damaged floors and they charged us more at the end for additional work we never agreed on! It's never good when another professional looks at your newly installed floor and in dismay, says "wow." I had K&K install bamboo flooring and I'm very disappointed. After having several flooring companies look at their installation, I decided to post my experience as they all noted issues with the installation. I went back and forth with a 1 star or a 2 star rating and while their installation was not considered to be a "failed floor," there were so many issues that there was no way I could justify anything but the lowest rating. Instead of writing a thesis, I will try to be brief and outline my issues. Sorry, it's still long though. Installation: - K&K did not let the hardwood acclimate to the temperature of the home, which effectively voided the manufacturer's warranty of the hardwood. The box specifically says the bamboo needs to acclimate for at least 3 days but they came in and installed immediately - Large gaps seen between hardwood - Putty used to fill gaps and in at least one instance, caulking - Worker who came to do repair work after the initial installation, directly put the pneumatic air compressor on the newly installed hardwood without placing anything underneath the compressor to protect the hardwood (though not posting, I did take a picture of it). - Various dings along the newly installed hardwood. Makes sense when workers don't take care to protect the floor they're installing. However, owner claimed it's "wear and tear" - At least one nail that was left popped up in a high traffic area of the hallway - Stairs poorly installed with gaps showing - One piece of molding that was installed under the steps along the stairs is cracked Clean up: - Workers left the floor without cleaning up (sawdust and glue still on floors) - Glue stains on the hardwood (I cannot remove them, even when using recommended cleaners such as Bona) and I will have to get glue remover or mineral spirits to clean up. All other businesses said that they clean all of this up after they install Installation effects on home: - Installation damaged parts of the ceiling above stairs - Dining room lights left on after workers left, with many burnt out and broken bulbs. I was out of town and the home was empty with no shades so people clearly saw that no one was home when the lights were on. Communication: - Business owner's email response times slowed soon after I agreed to the contract - I pointed out a subfloor bump/rise during the initial visit, and noted that if there is any concern, they should consult with me. I happened to be out of town during installation (huge mistake on my part). They installed over the bump without talking to me about options, and now I see bigger gaps between the panels there. - I requested they take pictures once the old flooring was removed and business owner told me sure (see email quote below). When I checked after the installation, he said he did not take pictures. - I wanted the panels installed vertically on the first floor, not horizontally. Sadly, we did not discuss this beforehand so not much that could be done. However, the business owner told me that the foreman called him to ask which way to install and without consulting me, he made the decision to install horizontally because the previous installation was also horizontal. - Business owner said in an email "I will take the pix of before and after of the concrete as well. I will personally oversee the installation and keep you updated on the progress." Based on my previous point about the foreman calling him, he was not there at the site and he didn't take pictures like he had promised. Final Thoughts: I can probably go on and list more issues but I hope my fellow Yelpers have an idea of what I went through. This was one of the few times that prior Yelp reviews steered me in the wrong direction and I hope people reading this review at least take my experience into consideration before making a decision on their flooring needs. Friendly and nice before the contract, but then everything else was downhill from there. K&K was one of the more cost-effective options and be warned, I got what I paid for. I HUGELY regret hiring them and do not want anything to do with them in the future. read more
