This store always serves savory specials like sandwiches, sliced meats, and smoked sausage; certainly such steals are only served in the Sunflower State. Take advantage of these specials for an inexpensive meal. I paid for the meal I had with two good friends of mine, and the price was a trivial $5. After you order your food, you shall receive your meal in a New York minute. Exceptional efficiency from otherwise everyday amateur employees. Don't forget to order your french fries. Prices I was told had increased and were not current on the menu. After ordering my credit card receipt showed no break down of charges. When I questioned the charges again the waitress said I was rude and she did not have to deal with me. $29.90 for burnt end lunch plate, small pulled pork sandwich and fries? I canceled my order because of her terrible attitude, left a $5 dollar cash tip with the manager and asked him to try to have his employee work on THEIR attitude towards customers. 3rd time in but my last. It was okay BBQ, but not that great. Brisket was very blah, Hubby got 3 meats, he too thought Brisket was blah, and didn't care for the sausage, but was in love with the ribs, fries tasted old, as in not fresh, but the coleslaw had good flavor. I asked for no cheese and bbq on the side, but didn't get the bbq, so used what was on the table, I hope it wasn't the mop sauce from the brisket that was missing because that would be a shame. I love Catfish Tuesdays. You have the option of All-You-Can-Eat, but two or three pieces usually does it for me. The fried filets are always nice and crunchy, with a good flavor. They come with tartar sauce, but sometimes I like a little Gunslinger on mine (a thicker version of Tabasco). When I last went this past week, they had changed their hush puppy recipe. The old style was unlike any puppy I had experienced before-a small, pale, plain fried dense cylinder shape. It had kind of grown on me (I liked to dip them in my coleslaw), and was actually sad to see that they were no longer being served in favor of the more traditional round, brown cornmeal type hush puppy. The dinner also comes with a green tomato relish, coleslaw and crinkle cut fries. The fries are always perfectly crisp. The K&M BBQ sauce is one of my favorites-spicy/sweet. I had never been a rib fan before, but have since been ordering the rib dinner after tasting one-tender, meaty, moist rib off of my boyfriend's plate. Decided to make a little trip out to K&M to see what they're serving up out there. My impressions...quite good, and the portion sizes are large. I decided to get the pork and, once I found out the sausage was made in house, I decided to make it a combo. Unlike almost every other place in town, K&M doesn't serve pulled pork, only sliced. As a side note, nobody served pulled pork in KC until Oklahoma Joe's blasted onto the scene. Anyway, the pork was good and the sausage was excellent. We had gone to Bull Creek Distillery for dinner in Spring Hill, but the service was non-existent and after 45 minutes of trying to get served, we left. Our group was starving and we had heard that there was a wonderful BBQ spot nearby so we left Bull Creek and headed out! What a complete opposite experience from Bull Creek Distillery. First of all, we were immediately greeted with a friendly smile and warm hello! We got seated immediately. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful!! She was such a delight. She told us all about the menu and made recommendations. She had so much personality and was just fun to chat with. We ordered drinks and then looked over the menu. As soon as our drinks came, we immediately ordered as we were starving! I think our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering! It was incredibly fast and was absolutely delicious! If you have the guts.....try THE KILLER. What a great and unique sandwich. It's as big as your head. We always keep a bottle of their sauce in the fridge that you can find at our local store. But if you are from out of town you can order it online. I'd like to say that it would be great if a show like Diners, Drive Ins and Dives finds this place but I kind of hope they don't. It's far enough away from the metro to be a little of a pain to get to and that makes it unique. But fire it up in your GPS if you are local and head south to check it out. I had a regular combo sandwich with brisket and sausage. I wasn't a big fan of the brisket, but maybe I'm spoiled by Joe's KC and Jack Stack. It was sliced much thicker than either of those two places, and was a little on the dry side. The saving grace of the meal was the sausage. It was really good. read more

Choice of smoked meat (burnt ends), topped with their potato casserole (like a cheesy potato salad), baked beans, BBQ sauce, and shredded cheese. The regular size was under $7 and the perfect portion. No need for sides! It was a unique combination of some of my favorite things, and was totally delicious! 2. The super quick and friendly service. I read other reviews that said otherwise, but on a Friday evening we got greeted, seated right away and served VERY quickly. 3. The fried pickles! My husband got a combo platter with beef brisket and pulled pork, bake beans and fries/rings. Rings were good and crispy, the beans were sweet and good. The brisket was the only disappointing thing I sampled. It had a slight "been cooked and warmed for a while" taste. I will definitely be back! read more

It was it was super greasy. -2 side salads -nothing more than iceberg lettuce with a little bit of cheese on top $2.79 per salad. What a joke! I'm curious what a $1 more would've gotten me with the "dinner salad". -2 sides of beans (prob about 1/4 cup) $2.60. I could've stopped in at price chopper and made a small better quality salad and heated up a can of bush's for a fraction of the cost. The girl at the front wasn't very friendly either. I'd rather drive in to Olathe for better bbq and better service. You definitely don't get what you pay for here. This was my second time here. I had lunch here about a year ago. Odered brisket for carry out today. They lost the order, but were able to fill the order while I waited. The worst brisket I have ever had. It was sliced super thin, like shaved ham at a deli. I've been eating here as long as I can remember, & the BBQ is always top notch. Anytime family from out of state comes I make sure they eat there so they can say they had KC BBQ at its finest. Only issue I've ever had was some less than perfect service. They have some long time waitresses that are phenomenal, so if you go hopefully you get a veteran :) Just recently tried the fried pickles, yum! More on the spicy side but perfect with some ranch. K & M is not going to win any customer service awards. Thanks to their curt front staff (hostess). How rude! The sauces tasted like alcohol. Almost like mouth wash. I promised I brushed. Anyhow, in most cases, I would say yes to alcohol, but with BBQ sauce, when your ingredients give no indication of alcohol, one becomes worried and is left to wonder. To wonder if what they just ingested will cause cirrhosis of the liver or worse, the infamous BBQ poisoning! Cue the music, dun dun dunnn! The meat was below average. If we were judging bseed on 90's boy bands, K & M would be comparable to 98 degrees. Getting back to it, the cuts of meat caused worry. For instance, the pulled pork was Chewy, and the sausage cuts were miniscule. As well, I'm not sure how they got in so much smokey flavour, either. It was intense. More intense than the late great Macho Man Randy Savage. Oh yeah!!! This gave me the suspicion of some type of fowl play, possibly artificial flavouring, like if the meat started huffing aerosol cans of liquid smoke. I reckon if true, these pieces of meat need an intervention. Vicariously I'm now an abuser. Sincerely, Five days later, I'm happy to report my stomach has gotten rid of all the toxins. Best BBQ in Spring Hill, but far from the best in the KC Area. The dining room is large and decorated in cliché western/cowboy motif. Still it was clean and inviting. We started with some fried mushrooms which were OK. They seemed to be hand bearded but they were bland and were missing some spices to give them more flavor. We had to eat these with a lot of ranch. As for the Q, I had the Wagon Wheel sandwich. The bun was soft but sturdy enough to handle the thinly sliced brisket which was slightly dry. The brisket was topped with onion rings that had the same breading as the mushrooms and also a slice of Swiss-American cheese (Think a white Kraft single, meh). The beans were house made and quite delicious. The sauce options were a sweet and a hot BBQ sauce. Both were good and I preferred the hot it had a nice kick. My friends had the ribs and their comments were that they were a little over done and dry. Not the greatest BBQ experience but also not the worst. If we were back in the area and were hungry for BBQ I would come here again. read more

I really wish that I could like this restaurant, but it is disappointing on so many levels. First, ribs should not be fatty! Find a better way to cook them (low and slow, anyone?); other great barbeque restaurants in KC have. But K&M thinks that fatty ribs are good enough to serve. The beans are okay. The fries are mediocre. The salads are made with iceberg lettuce. On our most recent trip, they were out of onion rings! What restaurant runs out of onion rings? Price Chopper is 10 minutes away; go buy onions! Finally, the service was just bad. We had a young girl with a bad memory who took a long time to deliver basic items (after being ASKED) like straws and silverware. When we thanked her, she told us, "No problem." I found it reassuring that her poor training and lacking work ethic were "no problem." Seriously, K&M, TRAIN YOUR SERVERS! The only good item we were served was the fried pickles. I hope that K&M will try to improve. People in Spring Hill don't have many restaurant choices, but Oklahoma Joe's is only 20 minutes away! read more

I also usually pick up a few bottles of their sauce from them or a local grocery store to get me through until my next visit. The wings tasted old and came out really fast so I know they weren't just made. The pulled pork was dry and the burnt ends were meh.
