Solid food, good prices, convenient location. I happened to be walking by this restaurant and was very hungry, so I stopped by for late lunch. This restaurant is pretty close to BART and the bus, and it is located in a small strip mall with a few other stores. Service was prompt and helpful. I ordered the tofu banchan for $14. The banchan was quite large, and I was quite happy with the amount of food. I received a large amount of fried tofu, rice, a hard boiled egg, kimchi, a few miscellaneous sides, and some very good japchae. The tofu sauce was a little sweeter than I prefer, and the rice had some crunchy spots. However, the japchae, sides, and overall amount of food made this restaurant experience a win in my book. I ended up taking a bunch of it as leftovers to-go. If you are a vegetarian, keep in mind that the tofu banchan does have fish cake in it. Ask that they hold non-vegetarian items when making yours. Some kimchi may also have fish in the sauce, though I didn't check at this particular restaurant. The restaurant is on the smaller side, with chairs and tables that have seen some wear and tear. However, everything is clean and well maintained. There are also self-service fridges with drinks and I believe some refrigerated to-go items. Stumbled upon this place while we were in the area during lunch time. They had a small parking lot and accessible street parking that's walking distance which was good. Inside is a bit small but there were some tables and chairs for dining in although we did take out. Wasn't busy so service was quick and since it was our first time the employee gave us his best recommendations. My husband got the spicy pork lunch bento and I got the chicken. If you've never tried honey butter chicken wings before, stop what you're doing and place a pick-up order now. This flavor has been a staple on Korean fried chicken menus for years, but if it's your first time, you're in for a treat. Vons' honey butter wings are some of the best I've found in the Bay. The dehydrated honey butter powder -- like a dusting of powdered snow, is packed with a uniquely addictive mix of sweet, salty, and savory. Honestly, I'd eat the powder on its own over a bowl of rice. That said, there are a couple things that could be improved. First, service is slow, especially during peak dinner hours. Today, even though I called ahead, my order still took about 20 minutes longer than the estimated time. Second, parking is a pain. The parking lot in front of the shop is small and usually full, mostly taken up by Doordashers and employees of the businesses in the plaza. Parking on the streets of Telegraph is also a bit dicey, as there's always the possibility your car could get bipped and your $20 chicken wing run becomes $200+ with a car window replacement. Super nice gentleman at the front counter helping us with our take out order. He really takes pride in seeing all his customers happy with their KFC. We did a full order of the soy garlic and a half of the plain...no survivors from 3 larger eaters but we were seriously fat and happy. The soy garlic chicken at Vons was amazing - it was crunchy on the outside without being too bread-y and the meat was juicy. I think I am an obligated to get this every time I come here now. Spicy Pork Bulgogi Sandwich. Bread was awesome. Veggies in the sandwich were on point. Didn't care for how sweet it was. Noticed this place on the map when shopping nearby. The corner mini-strip mall is aging but the restaurant was sparse and clean. The menu is printed and taped to the counter with pictures. Ordering was easy and simple; we could hear the food prep going on in the kitchen. We were the only customers, and it took about 10-12 minutes to prepared two different Bentos and 1/2 sauced chicken. We took it to go and ate about 30 minutes later. The presentation was gorgeous, the portions huge (easily 2 meals making the price a real deal). There were a few drumsticks so large, unbelievable. All the meats (chicken, friend chicken, beef) were tender and flavorful. The banchan sides were tasty and the quality you'd expect from a great sit-down restaurant. This is a way better option than ordering take-out from many places, as all food it prepared for take away. Discovered they offer a mix-match of a Korean franchise (Vons) and (I guess) their own offerings. In looking through the Vons franchise menu, it doesn't seem they offer all items. At least with the bento, there's a mix of both their own and Von's sides. The japchae (glass noodles) was very good. So was the potato salad and (what we thought was) the anchovies. The potsticker (Mandoo?), there was only one and not impressive in flavor or texture. It stayed crispy. Not sure its theirs or Vons. The chicken was coated in spicy sauce. Wonderful, deep flavor but be warned, the levels imply that spicy means heat - not degrees of flavor. Highly recommend others visit and support this local business. Oh, and they offer a refrigerator section offering various homemade items to take home, like pickled radish, potato salad, and seasoned tofu. There's also a drink section with Coke products but also various Korean drinks. This location has options appropriate for vegetarians, the few pieces of tofu included in the bento was delicious. The gentleman working the front went into the kitchen to get the orders and come out to bag the orders. However, I was appalled that when he went into the kitchen he would vape a couple times. I noticed it as well as the smoke (aerosol) he blew out, while the food was being prepared. It happened twice when I was there. Who knows how often it happens? Very friendly staff and very good food. The little shop was not very busy at lunch time on a Friday, but I do tend to eat lunch earlier than most. I ordered the spicy pork plate, and it was a great lunch! Generous portions of pork paired with lots of sides: japche, rice, pickled cucumber, salted egg, a pot sticker, fish cake bits etc. The pork was very good and carried the show, as you would hope for as the entree. Everything else was pretty good, but I found the japche just a bit on the bland side. I was so impressed by the food, I took a picture before I even decided to write a review. Dainty little shop on the corner here, lots of great options for banchan here, packaged nicely in take away containers. They also have bigger containers of Kimchi which is a nice amount of tangy/sour taste! I got a spicy pork rice bowl, which, upon receiving I almost dropped because of how deceptively heavy it was. The portion was great for the price. Even though a lot of the dish was made up from rice below, there was a decent amount of pork and vegetables on top. If it's your first time and you don't know what to get, the lunch sets are a great way to get a sampling of their banchan, as they generally come with a generous serving of protein, and about half a dozen bites of their various banchan options. Or heck, just come if you want a tasty and filling value meal for your money! If you've been to premade food sections of Korean markets like Kukje or H Mart, you'll already have a good sense of what's on offer here: expect much of the same, but fresher and with a bit more flavor and depth. That said, some of the banchan options are definitely on the saltier or sweeter side for me, but may suit others more. The ones I enjoyed more include japchae, stir-fried anchovies, kimchi, and radish, the latter two of which come in various aged/fermented options (you'll have to ask them to know which ones are more fermented though). Accessibility: Spacious venue that's pretty accessible, but some items are definitely higher up in the fridges and difficult to see/read/reach from a seated position. The man who took the order and brought out the food for us was very laid back and kind. He gave us the delicious sauce to go along with it.
