Good steakhouse, I had no complaints. The salad bar is huge, even not as diverse as hoped for. Overal, good place to go.

I have debated posting this review of K-Bob's, and have attempted to contact upper management for the chain. I was unable to find a central person to write to, and received zero responses from the several people I wrote to. So, here goes. Unfortunately, what was in the past a mediocre place to eat has become an unappetizing and undesirable place for us. Our last visit in September was our second try in the 2 weeks we were in Ruidoso. The service was terrible, the food was not cooked properly and the salad bar was devoid of most of the usual selections. When we requested for the manager or come talk with us, we were surprised when a very timid young man introduced himself as the manager. When we brought to his attention all of the problems we encountered, he said it wasn't his fault, that "they" didn't order correctly and the supplies had not been delivered. I asked him if it was his responsibility to ensure the restaurant ran smoothly and if he was responsible for the quality of service and food, and he replied that he was. When I informed him that I felt he wasn't doing his job and that the service and food were terrible, he just shrugged and said he was new at the job. There was no offer of compensation or apology offered to us. We were presented the bill and that was that. So, K-Bob's is now definitely on our "never to return "list. First time here a few yeas ago it was OK. Not this time. Mixed up 2 of three orders, some food cold, too salty! Garlic mashed potatoes tasteless even with gravy. Chicken fried steak tough and extremely salty, didn't even come with a vegetable. Way too expensive for the (lack) of quality. Best thing on the table was the hot yeast bread. Meh... we were hungry for a chicken fried steak with fried okra. so if we were going to cheat it's gotta be good, right. Salad bar was fresh looking. We sat outside and the place was pretty busy, but it took 50 minutes to get our entree. that's singular, we were splitting only one entree. the chicken fried steak was fresh but the okra seemed not so much. we asked for a replacement order of okra and the server accommodated. a couple minutes later a piping hot plate of refried okra appeared. Yep refried tough and darker. But you know I had the best servr who tried. and the best company, my wife. read more

First time here. Everything was great!! We had had a long ride on the bike. Was wiped out and hungry. Sat at the Bar Morgan was friendly and accommodating. Food was barely warm. The rice pilaf I ordered was actually refrigerator cold. Not one hot item we ordered was actually hot. When my son told the waitress about his cold steak, she asked what he wanted her to do about it. The best item was the rolls. Once the sirloin was heated it was good. Shrimp was good too. read more

8-12-15 Well I decided to give this place another chance. I'm glad I did. It only took 8 minutes for my food to brought to me this time. The food was warm and there was no issues with it. The bartender actually asked me how I was doing this time. I would say it was a big turn around compared to my last visit. 8-10-15 The only good thing I can say about this place is the beer was cold. The bartender was more occupied with his friend at the bar. Order an appetizer and a steak meal. When I got my food, the appetizer came at the same time and the bartender forgot the appetizer was mine. When I am started eating the food, I came to find all of it lukewarm. The bartender never once asked me how I was doing after or before I got my food. Always more interested in his friend. Food is less then I expected for this place. So disappointing. The steak was awful and not even close to being cooked as requested. The salad bar was pretty average and even the baked potato was sub-par, which seems difficult to do. The drinks were also disappointing. By far, the highlight of the entire meal was the dinner roll with cinnamon butter, which seems pretty steep for $63. I honestly created a Yelp account to write this review. We will not be back. On a semi-positive note, we sat ourselves quickly at the bar and the bartender waiting on us was very friendly, though he seemed aloof about knowing how to make the drinks we requested, but they were extremely unsatisfactory compared to those we get elsewhere. read more

Just went here on our yearly trip to Ruidoso with family and friends! They were incredibly busy, but the hostess at the front took it in stride despite the very rude party behind us. We were seated within the time promised and our waiter was very quick about getting things to us; my glass was never more than half empty! He even allowed me to use the salad as a side at no extra charge. The salad bar is amazing and has a variety of things to deck out the perfect salad; banana pudding was even available. Our orders arrived on time, my steak was perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked well; my party's steaks were the same way. My husband and I came in about 8:00 PM. We were sat in a booth immediately. We waited what seemed like forever for a waitress to take our order including drinks (which mine was the wrong soda). She brought the drinks quickly. Then we didn't see her again. I could see my husband's food just sitting in the window. Finally, another waitress brought his food which he liked except the baked potato wasn't done completely. A waiter took over our table and was great. We waited about 40 minuets to get seated. The hostess was rolling her eyes and sat down every group that came in after we did. We were seated after telling her we had been waiting 40 minutes. Everything was good after. We received our meals but then we didn't see our waiter again til an hour later. We asked for bread TWICE and did not get asked if we needed refills. We had to ask THREE times for our check. All the waiters kept saying was "Okay we'll tell your waiter." Never saw him again we ended up finding out he was also the manager. Will not be back. Wait times are terrible, even when the place looks half empty. Seems like the hostess would rather see you turn around and head out, cause when they tell you that the bar is available to sit, they add that it will likely take the same amount of time for your food as if you waited to be seated. We went in to eat the 25 the bartender was kinda rude sorta sarcastic. And when the servers that were asking questions as if they were training he was very rude to them as if they should have known the job automatically. The service asked "hey Morgan how do you make a vodka tonic and he said it's a vodka tonic." And he just shook his head. Worst service ever: Every time I would go to Ruidoso, I would make sure to stop and eat at K-Bobs, but this time was the worst eating experience ever from any restaurant at anytime of my life. Firstly, it took 25 minutes to seat us when they said it would take 7 minutes. Secondly, the waiter took forever to get our drinks. Thirdly, it took about 45 minutes to an hour to get our food; in the meantime the waiter never came by to refill our drinks. Next, after receiving our food, we noticed there were issues for every single plate (e.g. my steak and corn were cold, my sister's steak was cooked well done when she asked for medium rare, my cousin's fish was undercooked, my other cousin's husband's chicken fried steak tasted like flour, my other family member received the wrong dish, etc). Next, after explaining this to the manager, he was extremely obtuse and dismissive; he lacked empathy and as we we're leaving he had the audacity to say "thanks for coming", and in response I said "your thanks isn't going to feed me" and with a grin on his face, he then shrugged his shoulders as to say "oh well". This place is in middle-of-nowhere New Mexico, several hours away from Route 66. When we walked in I thought the cook's head was going to fall off from staring at us. Called to ask about wait time for a group of 10; was told it would be 15 minutes. We showed up and were told it would be 30 minutes so we decided to wait at the bar. Two people in our group didn't have their ID with them and were rudely told that they were not allowed to sit at the bar. The bartender was unprofessional and rude and the manager was seen drinking an alcoholic drink made by the bartender. When we were finally seated in the restaurant area, the waiter came to take our order and was very friendly. The wait for our food was fairly long and the appetizer arrived after the main course. We never received our salad bar plates for those that ordered the salad bar for their main course so we eventually went to the salad bar and used the small plates. One of our party ordered a tall beer and had to ask about it after not receiving it. He was brought a regular size drinking glass and then later a very small mug. When we got our tabs, we had all been charged 6-7 dollars for a "service charge" as well as gratuity. The staff were all so busy; we didn't want to wait for an explanation, so we paid and left. It was filled with flies which I get but I got a hint of sewer water in the air. Our waitress was so clumsy! Me and my girlfriend ordered sprites and when we got them, the soda tasted like carbonized water and when we told our waitress she said it was because the machine wasn't working right, she couldn't tell us before we ordered sprite?? The two cups filled with sprites remained at the table 20 minutes after she brought us our new drinks and they probably would have stayed there longer if we wouldn't have told her to take them. Busier than they seemed equipped to handle. My party of 5 is an odd number I admit but trying to stick a chair at the end of a 4 top is not the way to make it work. When we declined to be seated that way it cost us another 20 min of waiting while several parties were seated instead. At the table we ordered drinks and one from the bar was delayed because of a problem with the keg, after another 10 min of waiting the waiter had to ask for a different selection. We had to sit and wait with our salads and appetizer for several minutes before we could request napkins and silverware. It was then another 6 to 7 minutes of our poor server to round up utensils for us. The food was phenomenal, the steaks were cooked perfectly and the shrimp was fresh. The only complaint with the food was that we had to ask for dinner rolls that were not brought out until we were completely finished with our entrees. The waiter was very friendly but our waters and tea were empty most of the evening. Food Taste: 4.5/5 only reason it was 4.5 out of 5 since my steak was so thin but it was a special just almost looked like a fajita vs steak but other times it looked better either way it was good. Food Quality: 5/5 the salad was awesome and the rolls! Food Portion: 5/5 Restaurant's look: 5/5 Spacious and clean Customer Service: 5/5 wow great service from my waitress Restaurant's intentions: 5/5 providing great food and decent prices.... They had specials and promotions that made it affordable and I wasn't expecting that but loved it! Summary: I hesitated a bit heard rumors about the owner but very happy with the food and customer service and not to mention the specials! No I don't eat here a whole lot but it's worth it when I go. Haven't eaten at a K-Bob's in a while and was definitely disappointed in this one. Salad on the salad bar did not have "any" of the good green lettuce on it. Our Chicken Fried Steaks seemed to have no seasoning on them. Ordered the Peach Cobbler and it came out burnt. It smelled burnt, tasted burnt and showed to be burnt but the kitchen sent it out anyway. Waiter did take it off our bill. read more
