The average steakhouse basically. Ordered the rainbow trout with pecans on top...it was really really good. I liked it! as a side i ordered the loaded baked potato...really good too! I was in Ruidoso today and decided to have a late lunch at KBOB's. I was pleasantly surprised to be seated quickly. I ordered the Sirloin Kabobs and one trip to the salad bar. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare and the salad bar was fully stocked. The food was all very fresh and generous portions. I took half the meal home for dinner this evening. The employees were gracious and the lady that assisted me had been with KBOB's for 23 years. This speaks well of the management and organization. Will definitely return very soon ! read more

My wife had the pulled pork sandwich with a trip to the salad bar. The pork was dry, seemed to be lacking sauce, and was tasteless. The salad bar offered fresh condiments and was a delight. I had the blackened red fish with fries and green beans. The only taste the fish had was from the blackening seasoning, the green beans had a very odd, unpleasant taste. The fries were crispy and tasty. Overall, we would rate this visit as a waste of our time and money. We won't go back. read more

Tonight I took three of my kids with me and we all ordered steak, all of them between medium rare and medium. They all came out well done. We turned them back in and had them remade, they still came back well done. I told the server that I did not have time to wait for it to be remade and would like to for it to be taken off of my ticket. One of them was taken off, and then we were given 10% off of the other one. I don't know what happened in the last six months but they have gone straight downhill. I was very dissatisfied and ended up paying almost $70 for a plate and a half of food. Nothing came out right and i was very disappointed. The manager did come to our table told me he would make it right, and nothing ever came of that. Sarah came back and gave us our check and continue to argue with me over the fact that I needed to pay for it and I said I wasn't going to because if you look at my plate it's still sitting here and untouched. For starters, we had a 30 minute wait which wasn't bad until we were walked to our table and seen about 8 tables empty. Guessing they were under staff. The waitress was very nice. The cheesy fries and breads good. But everything else went downhill from there. I only got one side and it was wrong when I got my food. My sons order was all messed up, didn't get half the food that the menu stated. Our other sons food was cold and rice was over cooked. Husband burgers was cold and not flavorful. Also ask to be moved to another table waitress said she wasn't able to sit us there because they had a bigger party however only 2 people sat at that table. I normally leave a good tip ! I have been coming to K-Bob's for many years. Never had a bad meal there. Recently I was back in Ruidoso and stopped in for dinner. There were 3 young hostesses at the entrance. It was early evening and not many people in there. We were asked to take a seat and wait foe a table. Another couple arrived behind us and they also took a seat. A third couple came in and the hostess sat them immediately. When we were finally seated I was pretty angry. I asked our hostess what was going on and she said they had to adjust their tablet before seating anyone. It seems she could have adjusted her tablet after she seated her customers. In order. Later I spoke with the manager and he explained they were all three new. I understand that perhaps they weren't trained yet but the first thing they should be taught is to take care of the customers. I'm only giving it 2 stars because the live music was awesome. The food and service on the other hand are absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! Our server was possibly the worst we have ever encountered. First, I ordered the prime rib, which is only available Friday/Saturday/Sunday according to their menu. When I asked for the prime rib, our server replied with "I don't know if that's available". She then asked me if it was Saturday, to which I replied yes. She then asked me to wait while she checked to see if it was being served tonight (Saturday)!!! The table directly behind us who were seated 15 minutes after us received their order (prime rib) before we received our food. When our food came my prime rib was cold and my son's side were incorrect. Not once did she return to our table to ask if we needed refills. I asked for a medium rare prime rib and received a cold, dry, tough piece of meat. Needless to say, we will NOT be returning to this restaurant. read more

The reason I am giving one star is because we sat near a staff area, the staff was pulling ice for drinks from a dirty sink. Around the sink was dirty food and the staff was sticking the utensil for ice right on top of the old food. Came for spring break with my family and was hoping for the first good food experience in New Mexico but unfortunately I did not get that. Looked at the menu online while we were waiting to be seated and were pretty positive about it. Then we got seated and ordered food, some items were not on the actual menu so they should update that ASAP. Water tasted like cheap and old tap water & the sweet tea tasted like soap. The steaks we ordered had zero taste to them I had to use A1 sauce just to taste something in my mouth. The salad wagon/bar was the highlight of the night. Considering how expensive this food is compared to other steakhouses (be prepared to spend around $25-$30 for one steak). They serve rolls as an appetizer but the first batch was burnt to black. We visited on a Tuesday night. The wait was quite long to get a table. Once sat, we waited a good bit for anyone to visit our table. Eventually a manager came over and took our drink order. She also delivered bread and took our dinner order. The wait for food was a little long. But the food arrived and the steak was cooked as requested and everything tasted great. Apparently our actual waiter had a large table of 30 seated somewhere else in the restaurant. We saw him only once. While staying the night in Ruidoso we were looking for a restaurant that was 1) open at 7pm (small town, early closures on Sunday) and 2) had the football game. We ran into K-Bobs open and with many screens showing the Colts vs Patriots game. We (party of 5) walked in and were seated right away in the "large group" area that had a nice fireplace and a tv. Our server came by right away and took our drink order. Upon her return we placed our order. Bacon cheddar burger (BCB), Philly cheesesteak, chicken fajita sandwich, chicken teriyaki, and kids burger. We declined the salad bar, and unfortunately did not swing by to see what it offered. While waiting we were served some yummy buttery rolls with cinnamon butter that just melts in your mouth! Our food was all quickly brought out in another 10 minutes or so. Me and the husband thought that was fast! My BCB was pretty big and juicy medium well and had all the trimmings and fries. The kids burger was the same size of my burger, of course just plain as that's how my daughter likes it, just ketchup and fries. Both the philly and chicken fajita sandwiches were good for my two teens. The only complaint the hubby had was that his chicken teriyaki portion was too small for him, but still good flavor. This is somewhere I would consider going if in the area again. Simple, nothing super fancy and good food. Oh and by the way, military discount! Don't forget to ask for that. read more

When we were seated we had a typical wait time for drinks but it took a while to get a straw. By a while I mean like our entire meal. I have debated posting this review of K-Bob's, and have attempted to contact upper management for the chain. I was unable to find a central person to write to, and received zero responses from the several people I wrote to. So, here goes. Unfortunately, what was in the past a mediocre place to eat has become an unappetizing and undesirable place for us. Our last visit in September was our second try in the 2 weeks we were in Ruidoso. The service was terrible, the food was not cooked properly and the salad bar was devoid of most of the usual selections. When we requested for the manager or come talk with us, we were surprised when a very timid young man introduced himself as the manager. When we brought to his attention all of the problems we encountered, he said it wasn't his fault, that "they" didn't order correctly and the supplies had not been delivered. I asked him if it was his responsibility to ensure the restaurant ran smoothly and if he was responsible for the quality of service and food, and he replied that he was. When I informed him that I felt he wasn't doing his job and that the service and food were terrible, he just shrugged and said he was new at the job. There was no offer of compensation or apology offered to us. We were presented the bill and that was that. So, K-Bob's is now definitely on our "never to return "list.
