I'd show a pic but waitress snagged it and we asked her to leave it so we could show the manager. The manager took a while but finally came and asked if there was an issue. My husband does NOT ever send food back period. He told her what happened. Out of two kabobs 2 pieces of the 6 pieces of meat were medium rare. The rest so raw they were still cold to cook inside and blue. The manager said she saw one piece and then tried to say it looked medium rare. I asked where the meat was because we'd like her to see it. She didn't know. As she was leaving she said would you like me to cook those longer or maybe give them to your dog? If they were "gone" how would you be able to give them to the dog? Service was not good. 12/21/15 Best steak in New Mexico hands down. I had mine "branded" with mushrooms and onions and they were sautéed so well (I've had sautéed mushrooms at multiple places)!! The steamed broccoli too was delicious because I've had some that tasted like they weren't washed! Loaded baked potato was soft and toasty, the bacon bits were real and not those hard crunchy ones. We came to K-BOB's (5 adults, 1 child) on a pretty busy night. We were seated in a reasonable amount of time and our waitress was attentive. However, when we finally got our food, 3 of our steaks were all wrong temperatures, and by a lot. My medium rare was a medium well pushing well. Our waitress did address the problem and got the food taken care of and the rest of the meal was fine, if nothing spectacular. However, the bill came out (separate checks, 3 and 3), and our bill had a 27.5% gratuity tacked on while the other bill had a 20.8% gratuity. First, there was no mention of an added gratuity from our waitress, on the menu, nothing. Secondly, 18% is standard for parties of 6 more, but 27.5%? Nobody is that fantastic in my opinion. Finally, why were the gratuities different? Were they on a sliding scale? This seemed very unprofessional from a business and we will likely not return in the business. read more

Despite visiting Ruidoso many times I had never been here and had no plans to go here for dinner Thursday night until a friend recommended it. I am so glad I took his advice. The salad "wagon" was truly impressive. Everything was so fresh and the variety of fruits and vegetables was second to none. My dinner was comprised of the house specialty beef KBOBs along with a loaded baked potato and I ate and enjoyed every bite. My husband ordered the sirloin cooked medium and when it arrived the steak was cooked well done and the bake potato and mushroom sides were cold. My husband had steak and it looked great. I wasn't as hungry so got the salad bar. It had a good variety but I got up there after restocking and they took the older salad green (from lunch maybe) and put them on top of the fresh salad so I got wilted lettuce. The same with the strawberries. The fresh ones looked great but she put the older ones on top and they were soggy. The live band was great. If I go back, I will definitely get the steak! In town for the weekend and saw the billboards. Was hesitant because of the current 3 star review but tried it anyway. We walked in and used an app to check in-said it was a 30 minute wait being 10th in line, but we ended up waiting under 10 minutes. Waitress was friendly and attentive, salad bar had regular options & was constantly stocked. A sign stated you must wear masks and gloves but it wasn't enforced. Mostly everyone wore their provided gloves tho, hardly anyone wore masks. The sign was a bit funny because waitresses didn't wear either, but it didn't bother me. All 3 plates of ours were delicious! On a Sunday trip to Ruidoso we decided to have a late lunch at K-BOB's. Restaurant was quite crowded for the time and hostess told us 10-15 minute wait. I asked to add a table to our request knowing it might take a little longer. In just about five minutes I received a text letting us know our table was ready. Specifically searched out this restaurant while we were on our road trip, as I have a local acquaintance who was the manager of the outlet here in Albuquerque before it closed. I was hungry for salad! Got there and seated, finally got a server. My friend went to the salad wagon and got a few things, said that there were no baby corns on the wagon and that it seemed to be skimpy. She ordered the chicken-fried steak - said it was coated in something heavy and she removed most of the coatings before she ate it. I ordered a burger without the bun and onion rings; the rings were apparently coated in the same stuff because I couldn't finish them. Burger was well-cooked, but bland with no salt. I ate here with my family and it turned out to be a horrible experience. It started off fine but got worse as it progressed. The waitresses sounded depressed and were never around when we needed one. The bad service was a red flag. Then came the food. I ordered their "Famous Backyard Pork Ribs" the menu clearly says the following: "16 oz of Slow-Cooked, Hand-cut Ribs, Rubbed with Country Spices and Basted with Lager and Citrus Glaze. Seasoned with Spicy BBQ Sauce. Served with French Fries or Sweet Potato Fries." That sounded amazing so I ordered it and when I got it I was severely disappointed. When I got my plate it was the most unappealing meal I've ever received from a restaurant. 16 ounces of ribs should be 1 entire rack of ribs. They literally gave me half a rack of ribs (6 total). There was no "spices, lager, and citrus glaze" on my ribs nor were they "SLOW COOKED." My brother ordered the same thing and said they were the worst he's also ever had. They tasted gamy, had no flavor, and looked like they were cooked in a microwave (which the chefs were clearly using when making people's food). These ribs looked like they came pre-packaged and pre-cut from Walmart (or any other grocery store). And to top it off they never gave us any sanitary hand wipes. My mother's steak that she paid nearly $30 for was also terrible. It had no flavor and was clearly not "medium well" it looked like it was cooked in the microwave. We ended up not eating the ribs or the 16 oz rib-eye steak. Then at the end of the meal some random guy walked up to our table to clean it and ask us about our experience. It felt extremely out of place but I assumed he was the manager so we told him upfront about how bad the food was and he seemed to be in hardcore denial. He kept going off about how he's never had any negative criticism of the food before and offered us a gift card for another meal which we refused. Why would we want to eat there again after such a terrible experience? It was literally the worst food I've ever had at a restaurant. Also don't be fooled by the amount of cars parked near the K-bobs. They're clearly not there for the restaurant. They're parked there for the "Travel lodge" motel that's right beside/behind it. When we went in it felt extremely empty which should have been a warning sign that the food sucked. If you're coming to Ruidoso, NM and you're looking for some good ribs I suggest you get them at Cattle Baron. There they actually make them with love. And the ribs at Cattle Baron are some of the best ribs I've ever had. K-Bobs on the other hand I do not recommend at all. This will be the last time I ever eat at a K-bobs. read more

My family, tired and hungry from a day's drive through desert, alien infested towns, and an unfortunate Texas Highway Patrol traffic stop (I was supposedly going ten miles an hour over the limit, which is BS. With the selective diet of my spouse and the finickyness of two of my children, finding a restaurant that meets our needs can be a challenge. K-Bob had a decently varied menu which catered to all our needs. Three of us got steak, all.of which was cooked to our desired level of doneness, my wife's garlic shrimp looked tasty, and the "Salad Wagon" even provided my daughter with a selection of fruits and veggies that appealed to her pallet. Good ol' fashioned steakhouse. It has a Salad Wagon! Pile up a plate with everything from lettuce to tuna salad, pea salad, and all the fixins to pudding for an added $3.99 with your meal. Big, smothered chicken-fried steaks the way you like 'em, and any steak you like. You can choose chile rellenos as one of your sides; how cool is that? Hot, tho! 4 fresh, soft homemade rolls arrive promptly when you sit. Our group ate there two days in a row because we were stuck in the great, unexpected snowstorm of late December 2018. We will always be grateful they managed to get in and open up, and had the hot coffee goin' the morning after the sky dumped 2+ feet of snow and ice on Ruidoso and NOTHING was moving, even the snowplows. Our server the first night was a charming man who was on the spot and pulled off calling a bunch of women "lovelies," "mama" and "sweeties" without being condescending or offensive.
