CM Chicken has large, crispy peices with lots of meat. I've eaten here a couple times and I usually get the Soy Chicken Wings. I wanted to try the Snow Onion Wings this time. They only do the regular chicken with the snow onions, but I wanted the snow onions on the Soy Garlic.... So I ordered the Soy Garlic Wings with an extra side of snow onions and the sauce. YOU GUYS!!! This is a game changer. I'm not a fan of raw onions, but they were shaved so thin; mixed with the sauce and Soy Garlic chicken wings they were absolutely delicious! We called and ordered our food for pick-up. It was ready when they said it would be (20-25 mins), they had everything packaged separately so the chicken wouldn't get soggy. By far the BEST KFC in the area. CM is a chain restaurant but the first of its kind in the area. They sell KFC not many sides. BUT, what they do sell they do a great job at keeping consistent. I have driven many miles many times for CM and they never disappoint. Always made to order so there may be a bit of a wait be sure to call ahead to place your order. I'd normally give 5 stars for chicken this good but I'm not a fan of the idea that you cannot get different flavors for your order. If you order 10 wings all 10 wings have to be the same flavor. I'd also appreciate more options for sides. The parking lot stays busy most of the time but cars are in and out quickly. There is ample parking but LOTS of movement so beware. I came across this restaurant just looking for something new in the area. The name CM chicken is simple and didn't really catch my attention, but I remember someone at working talking about how good Korean Fried Chicken was and I decided to give this a try. The parking situation was easy, it's a relatively small lot for as many customer service oriented businesses as there are in the small shopping center, but it wasn't an issue for us. It's located off of S. Lynnhaven & Lynnhaven, right by the mall. There are lots of pics for this place including the menu, and all are accurate, but I couldn't resist taking pics of the food. We got our order to go so the pics taken about a 30 min after receiving the food. The wings are simply delicious! I've always preferred breaded wings, and these were cooked really well, and the flavors were awesome. I prefer the curry wings, but both those and the soy are really good. We also ordered the soy gizzards which were flavorful, but too crispy. Gizzards should be a bit softer IMO. However, the serving size for the gizzards was VERY generous. When it comes to food I am a big proponent of texture. I absolutely love crunchy and crispy food. In that regard, CM Chicken really hit the spot. These guys really know how to get a good crisp on their food. So if you are like me then you should definitely try this place out. I am not usually a fan of Asian style sauces, especially when they are a kind of glaze sauce like the Garlic Soy, but this was a pleasant surprise. The sauce had a nice heat kick to it, but it wasn't so unbearable that you had to stop eating like some wing sauces out there. I got dumplings and french fries for appetizers. The dumplings were a perfect golden brown and crunchy. I could eat these all day. The fries were equally as crunchy and tasteful and they did not hold back. For $5 you get a significant portion of fries and I could not eat them all. That's ok, because they reheated in the oven well. But it is in no way the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had. We have Bon Chon in my hometown, which is really good; however, I've always heard that this place was better... they lied. Oh man. This place has gotten us through our multiple quarantines this fall. We already have an obsession with Korean flavors, so finding CM Chicken has been perfect. I've tried their original and tikkudak at this point, both AMAZING. I have to say the "patent pending" tikkudak method is my favorite, it's just so crispy and delicious. I wish I could give this place 6 stars now that I think about it lol. Also, the portion sizes are huuuuge... the shrimp is also delicious (my kids agree), and even the fries are really great. To start, I ordered the soy garlic chicken, rice, and french fries off of Uber Eats. By the time I arrived to the restaurant (~15-20 min), my order was ready. I am loving how Korean Fried Chicken is starting to become easier to find. I love Bonchon, but my wallet doesn't and the drive to Norfolk keeps me from getting it when I'm craving it. I've been settling with Domoishi- very good, affordable, but tiny wings. Enter CM Chicken. Large wings, fried to perfection. I've visited twice this month while they had a buy 2 dozen wings get 1 box of tenders free promotion. My favorite is by far is the classic soy-garlic. The spicy is really spicy which made it exciting (and hard to eat more than 2 at a time). I think I may order the sauce on the side next time I'm feeling spicy. The snow chicken is excellent- I thought it even tasted better the next day. Maybe I was just more liberal with the sauce on day 2. I love the curry too. Yeah- just give me the whole menu. The second visit we got the wings tikkudak style which means they are grilled after they are fried. Very good, but I didn't notice a huge flavor difference. Pro tip: pop your leftovers (if you have any) in the air fryer instead of microwave. We also get the calamari when we visit. I love that you can get one of the wing sauces to dip it in. The batter has a great crunch and while I want to save money, it's hard to resist adding them to our order. Plan for a 40-50minute wait after you place your order. My first visit they weren't allowing people to wait inside, but tonight that seemed to have changed as I saw two groups at tables waiting for their food. The order also came with a side of crunchy pickled radish which is one of my favs! Both flavors were SO good, but I think I give the slight edge to the garlic soy. The hot pepper chicken was just a touch spicy for me, but still so enjoyable. I really liked the tikkudak because the sauce was not dripping off the chicken and making a mess. The coleslaw was not extraordinary by any means, but it was good enough to help cut down on some of the spice from the chicken. They even gave us 10 free tenders so I got those in spicy. After 25 mins my order was ready and luckily I only have a short drive home so all of the chicken was still hot and crispy! For the Snow Onion wings, you're supposed to pour the cream over the wings then top with all the thinly sliced onions. But since I don't like onions like that, I told the fam they gotta assemble it on their own plates lol! Otherwise, the plain, double fried chicken wings was perfect alone! I just added the cream sauce and wow! Yummy! My family killed the wings. Absolutely delicious and fresh. What sets them apart from Bonchon and Domoishi is definitely the crunch factor and appearance. CM's chicken aren't doused and swimming in sauce but I'm not mad at that. I don't believe wings have to be swimming in sauce for it to be 100% delicious. BonChon what?? For months, I have been breaking my neck looking over each time I drove by to see if this place had opened yet. When word got around that it was finally open I couldn't wait to visit. For me, anything from NoVa is always good and I believe this place originated from that area. I had even thought about making the drive to Hampton when the first location opened. I noticed they offered a lunch special (5 wings with rice or fries and a drink for $8) so I took advantage of that. I also ordered the hot snow onion wings and the soy tikkudak. I wasn't sure what the main difference was between the original wings and the tikkudak but everything was delicious! The snow chicken was the most interesting and honestly, I didn't think I'd like it. I thought maybe it'd be too spicy and I questioned the onion and sauce topping. The man who I placed my order with told me he could put the spicy sauce on the side. I've had Korean fried chicken from different spots but this was something snow chicken was new to me, and I'm so glad I tried it! It was amazing! I've heard about this place from friends and heard it was similar to what you get at Bonchon (in fact it MIGHT be better). I gotta say, I'm really glad I found out about this place. I ordered 2 boxes of chicken (regular classic and garlic soy) and a basket of fries. Like other reviewers mentioned, the chicken isn't drenched in sauce but it still tastes great and flavorful. They do have a coupon where you buy 2 boxes of chicken and you get free tenders...however, you can only do this in-restaurant/call. I used GrubHub so I wasn't able to use the coupon which is fine, I'll call next time. Right now, they are only doing pickup or take out orders, so no dine in due to the pandemic.
