I actually loved how it tasted. My only complaint is even when I asked it to be mild, it was pretty spicy. The fried chicken was extremely crunchy and sweet on the outside, but was not as good on the inside. Either it wasn't cooked enough, or the chicken was not as good, when is a shame. Back then, you could choose add ons for an additional cost, but now, it's a set dish. It was still pretty good, and we were both full from just that. Finally came out and tried this place and ended up going back a second time within a few weeks. From the menu, you can tell it's Chinese Korean. The food leans more casual and quick. First time we came I got the ox bone noodle soup and I thought it was decent. The flavor was similar to what I'd get at other restaurants, but I thought the meat cuts were fatty and not as well done. The lunch options are a decent price and great option if you want a lot of meat with some kimchi. I would come back for the army stew in particular. The army stew is very creamy (butter and cheese!) and portion is generous. I shared it with two other people and we were stuffed. It's not difficult to get a table for weekday lunch. Interestingly this is Korean food from Yanbian which is basically an area in China where many previously North Koreans live. If you know Korean food well it's slightly different but as this is almost a Korean quick bite restaurant you shouldn't expect too much difference. It's not a bbq place just a place where you can get a decent quick and relatively inexpensive lunch or dinner. The food is good enough and both service and atmosphere is decent enough. It won't blow your socks off but is good enough for you to come back. They have most of the stable food such as fried chicken, noodles and mixed rice. I don't recommend the army soup but I think both the tofu soup and spicy noodles are decent. Once again manage your expectation and you will like this no frill restaurant. I like the location as it's convenient and has plenty of free parking unless the nearby Millbrae downtown or the Burlingame downtown. There is a version of spicy seafood noodle that comes with beef ribs but somehow the waiter brought me the seafood only one. Their kalbitang came with 2 big bones of kalbi. I ordered the one with rice instead of with noodles and was surprised it also came with glass noodles. I wished I had jjangachi to dip the meat. Being that we are not people with high spice tolerances, we got mild and it was a good amount of spice. The broth was very anchovy/fish forward and was spicy enough to keep us warm but still able to eat the food (I think we could have gotten medium). The fish cakes were delicious and paired so well with the rice cakes. We also loved the sausages that go really well with the dish. This was a great bang for our buck. Between 5 people, we had the army stew, honey fried chicken (wings), spicy fried rice cake, and bbq pork lunch special. This place was super good! I went with my boyfriend and friend last night, it wasn't busy at all and the service was very quick. We had boba next door and we thought we would eat dinner here. This definitely seems like a spot I would have gone to pre-covid, too bad I didn't find out about it now. I got the spicy fried rice cake combo which was $20 and is meant for 2-3 people. Ordering was super simple, I called ahead and it was ready for pickup 10 minutes later. I ordered mine with the mild spicy category and I have to say it was the perfect amount of spice. I have to admit that I'm not as good as I should be with spicy food so I was a little scared that even mild might be too much for me, but I'm so glad that it was the perfect amount of spice! My whole family thought that it was the right amount of spice, including my mom who LOVES spicy food and adds chili sauce to her every meal. It came with rice cakes (duh), mini sausages, fish cake, cabbages, onions, two hard boiled eggs, and cheese. I wish the eggs were soft boiled; the inside of the hard boiled eggs were a little rubbery. Everything else tasted great. I loved the soft, chewy texture of rice cakes! :) The spicy rice cake combo is a dish that you would have to share with other people and eat with another side dish. I was glad that I bought this to share with family because I have to admit that I was getting bored with it after a while. I don't think I could have, nor would I have wanted to, finish it entirely on my own. I imagine that if you came here in person, you could get this along with one of their tofu soups or fried chicken and it would all come together to make a really nice meal. I've dined in before Covid and gotten takeout after -- there weren't many tables, and the furnishings are minimal, but it was pretty clean and sufficient. Their menu is a hodgepodge of popular Korean items that are borderline comfort junk food to me -- fried chicken, army stew, tofu soup, those kind of things. Korean places can be really simple and concentrate on a dish or two, so the variety is honestly surprising to me, but I also didn't expect much because of that. From my memory, the fried chicken can be very spicy, but it wasn't tender or moist enough to pull me away from chains like Bonchon. More recently, I got a tofu stew take out because of the weather and my cravings for something warm and comforting.
