Excellent attention to the customer, not a volume shop that operates to churn out customers. Michelle is wonderful, sweet, skilled, and very professional in that she knows exactly what impromptu adjustments need to be made to ensure you get the best result. My c curl perm was supposed to take three hours, but she quickly realized how strong and thick my hair quality was, which meant she had to stay overtime to adjust the treatment plan to fit my situation better. I love the result, it is better than I envisioned. I can now wake up, roughly run through my hair with my fingers, and leave the house looking like I got a blowout. New season means new hair! If you're looking for a place that is able to do balayage with thick hair, Michelle is your girl. Michelle does such a fantastic job at explaining which colors will look best with my undertones and every time the color has dyed so well. When I get my hair done I bring some reference photos and Michelle alway gives me what I envisioned. I've dyed my hair multiple times but the treatment that Michelle puts in the dye makes my hair look and feel healthy. Even after 6 months of growth, my hair has continued to stay healthy and shiny. Her haircuts are always on point and her perm is by far the best perm I've gotten in CA (tried all the places in KTown). My hair is very thin and doesn't perm well but she makes it work really well. This was my 3rd time using Michelle's services. I am saddened at how she has changed her pace and quality of attention to client. My appt was at 11am, and when I arrived, there were 3 chairs and 3 people getting their hairs permed or colored. I wondered if I got my time wrong, so I double checked my texts, and I did have the correct time. She was rushing like crazy, and eventually had one client getting his perm done move to a waiting chair, so I could have the seat. She washed my hair and then started to cut. It wasn't 5min into my cut that one of the first clients asked Michelle when she could finally get her hair shampooed, so Michelle stopped cutting my hair and rushed to shampoo the women's hair. I overheard the women say, "Sorry, I need to pick up my kids from school." Michelle responds to her with something along the line of "free shampoo next time." Then another lady comes in, and Michelle tells her to wait outside. When Michelle finished the women's shampoo, she had the women waiting outside come back in and then shampooed and conditioned her hair. (Now, I'm waiting 15-20min after Michelle started my haircut). She tells the new client to wait 10min to have the conditioner sit in her hair, and then quickly finishes my haircut, and she did if FAST. There was no asking questions, no checking if the haircut would do well with my hair texture, so I asked her if my hair needed to be permed since the picture I had shown her in the beginning was curled. She was actually annoyed when I asked and said a firm "Maybe," meaning no. She finished my haircut and curled it within probably 15-20min. And then another lady comes in.... Michelle quickly tells me to take off my robe as I was trying to pay her. The internet wasn't working and she was annoyed that her Apple Pay system wasn't working. A rushed 20/30min haircut for $70. I've had friends tell me the cut was uneven and choppy and poofy. I don't know what is going on, but this was a disappointing and sad experience. I really liked my first two experiences in 2021 and 2022 with Michelle and really thought I found a long term stylist. Now, I'm going to another stylist 5 days after Michelle cut my hair to get it fixed and permed and not rushed. read more

It was my first time at Michelle's salon, and I will definitely come back. I just moved to the area, so just tried this place having not much expectation. I showed Michelle a couple of pictures of a short-cut with a c-curl perm as an example, and added a brief explanation. She quickly understood what to do with my hair, added more details and got me a really cute style. I also like the color-coating that I got. She also took care of my eyebrows to match with my new hair, and gave me tips on how to style my hair at home. I can't believe this place has a high rating. I've been to a lot of korean hair salons in LA/OC area and this was by far the worst. I am so upset with an awful haircut. I knew it was going to be bad while I watched her cut because she relies heavily on the thinning shears and finished the cut within 10 min. It looks semi descent when you walk out of the salon because she styles your hair but when I got home and washed my hair, I can see that it was very uneven and looked like it was just chopped off. She makes appointments back to back so she puts conditioner on your hair makes you wait while she rushes to cut someone else's hair. Then she barely rinses your hair and starts chopping your hair off. There's no thought or effort that goes in. I was shocked that she charges $70 for a 10 min haircut. Michelle is awesome! I tried to go to a salon near my house and I did.. but it was total fail. I wanted to color and cut my hair. They said they couldn't color my hair orange without bleaching it but Michelle did it no problem. I asked the stylist to layer my hair what she did was.... one length on the bottom and another one length 1in above.. BUT Michelle saved me!! She fixed all the problem! She layered my hair as I wanted and colored my hair as I wanted!!! Although her shop is hr away I'm never going to even try to find a salon near my house. If you like beautiful long hair DO NOT go here!!! I usually like my hair length between my rib cage and belly button. I came out with hair WAY shorter than what I wanted. I came in because my hair was already below my belly button. It was long. Before we started, I tried to tell her where I wanted my hair length to be, but she right away cut it where SHE wanted the length to be without giving me a chance to explain. It all happened TOO fast! I told her that was too short for me and the whole time she kept making comments "oh don't be silly that's too long". I wanted something nice, but because of how low she cut it initially, I was scared of doing layers or much to it. I do not care if you personally think my desired hair length is too long. If I want it a certain way and I express it MANY times, you are supposed to do what I want as a client. If I am paying for a service and giving you instructions, you are supposed to do what I want. People love my hair length and all my girlfriends have it long and beautiful. Some of them even use extensions! Now I have some basic ugly short haircut. Nothing interesting. Now I see why you are in Irvine because most girls in LA have it long styled and beautiful. What I got was some short haircut that looks very basic and VERY Irvine look if you know what I mean. Def going to look for someone in Newport now. Someone with more sense of style for long hair. Not Happy. Not returning. Not recommending. read more

After a very long time of searching for a good, affordable hair salon in the OC area, I finally found my go-to person and I could not be happier! About 8 months ago, I got a drastic haircut (super long to chin-length!) I'm so glad I found Michelle through Yelp because she did an amazing job. All I had to do was show her some inspo pics and she knew exactly what I wanted. I got SO many compliments on my cut, and many of my friends wanted to know where I went! Last week, I went for a trim + digital perm. I was going for a messy wave look with lots of volume. Again, I showed Michelle a few pictures and she achieved the look so well. It looks even better than the pictures! Michelle is so talented with the scissors. She has been working as a hairdresser for a long long time, and it shows through her skill. I love that she is good at both Korean and American styles, listens to exactly what you want, and knows what will look good on you. She will give you exactly what you want, without cutting 6 more inches than you asked for like most Korean hairdressers. Michelle is the one to trust with your hair!!! PS, she is the only hairdresser here. She has helpers, but only Michelle will directly work on your hair, so you can trust you won't get a random person when you come.
