Trying to expand my Afghani food experiences, me and my sister decided to stop by Kabab Paradise. For our appetizers, we chose the Bolani and Kadoo Qorma. Kabab Paradise's version of both dishes were nice and worthy of ordering again. The Bolani's skin was crisp and really fried nicely, and inside was a nice roughly chopped filling of potato, onions, and other spices. The Kadoo Qorma was the better of the two appetizers. The light seasoning allowed the pumpkin's flavor to really stand out, offering a fresh and light taste with each bite. We both enjoyed this dish a lot. We both really liked the starter salad served with the entrees which was really fresh and had some some different vegetables like arugula and sliced tomato. The side sauces provided, typical of most Afghan restaurants, were the green cilantro sauce and the ever famous Afghan "white" sauce. Kabab Paradise's green sauce was a little watery compared to other Afghan restaurants I've tried, but the flavor was both herbaceous and had a pleasant light sweetness. However, the "white" sauce was pedestrian, leaning way more to the taste of mayonnaise (rich and a tad sweet) compared to the more sour taste of yogurt. I ordered the Sultani Kebab (a combo of Beef Kufta and Lamb Shish) entree and it was solid. The Beef Kufta was good, well seasoned with a noticeably good cumin and parsley flavor. My knock on it was it was a bit dry. Lamb Shish cubes were also a bit dry and tough, but as with the Kufta; the flavor was very good with nice seasoning. What made this entree really enjoyable was the Afghani rice (Kabuli Pulao) which was excellent. The rice was cooked to a nice texture (with just a bit of bite), had a nice flavor of light spices, and the carrot & raisin combo really added a hint of sweetness. My sister chose the Chicken Chapli entree and it was very good. Immediately, she was pleased with the large size of the two Chapli patties; each occupying nearly 75% of the plate's area. The Chapli was seasoned aggressively, and being Chicken, the extra level of spice was welcomed. She shared a good sized piece of the Chapli with me, and I could taste fresh cumin and turmeric. She also shared the same positive opinions on the Afghani rice. I have to mention the bread served by Kabab Paradise. Bread in Afghani culture is a big deal, and Kabab Paradise's bread was pretty good. Though not the best Afghani bread I've eaten, what made the bread so addicting was the small packets of butter supplied in the bread basket. Both me and my sister could not stop eating the bread after applying a generous amount of the butter. I give Kabab Paradise a solid 3.5, so averaging up it's 4 stars for me. read more

This is probably the best halal food place in the area that sells food other than fried chicken. My family has been coming here for 10 years, and every time we come, we love it. The first thing that I recommend you get the most is the lamb platter, I think it's the yummiest thing that they have. My (picky) younger brothers absolutely love the lamb, it's soft and packed with flavor. There's also the combo platter with both chicken and lamb if you want both meats, but I definitely recommend the lamb. They also have sandwiches, but I don't care much for them, haven't tried them in awhile, maybe I'll try them again to see if they changed. This food was amazing and the portions were huge. I eat a lot, but I couldn't even finish everything. The setup is unique, when you go in you just go to the counter and order. I like that you pay upfront so there is no waiting for your check when you're done. The parking lot gets really crowded during lunch time since there are several restaurants so just be mindful of that. If you're in a hurry consider ordering to go ahead of time and pick it up. This area does not have a huge population from the Middle East so to see this many frequent customers, helps to confirm the quality and authenticity of the food. Where has this place been?!! Just discovered this gem for the first time today. It's a big place with a casual feel decorated with nice middle eastern art. The menu is extensive with tons of choices. Great for meat lovers but also good number of vegetarian choices. Our family got the chicken kebab platter which was chicken chunks, mild in taste but juicy and served hot. Also got chicken kufta kebab platter that was 2 ground chicken skewers topped with spices, onions and peppers. Both platters were served with long grain, spiced rice. Make sure you say yes to the carrots and raisins on top. They are sweet and a nice touch to the delicious rice. Both Chicken dishes were delicious. We were full without being too stuffed. My daughter had the chicken gyro sandwich served with hot shoestring fried. She really enjoyed it. The cheeseburger that my son had was also really good. Served on a kaiser roll with onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and a spiced sauce. It had a nice flavor to it. Service is good and friendly but like other reviewers have said... hold onto your receipt. Their method of taking your order and payment needs work. You pay at the end and the bill is based a lot on the cashiers memory. It was kinda funny. We had no problems though. Will absolutely be going back. Sadly, I was not able to capture too many photos of either the food or the interior of Kabab Paradise. However, this is by-far the best Afghan food I have ever had. Near Rutgers' New Brunswick campus, Kabab Paradise has been a staple of quality, with great portions, fresh and tasty food, in a clean and inviting atmosphere. The chicken gyro platter is the go-to for many patrons and should be liberally drizzled with white sauce to enhance the flavorings. You can opt to have the carrots and raisins removed from the platter, however I love the slightly sweet hints they provide. If you've never been to their original location up in the Parsippany area, this place is a must try! I cannot rave enough about how good the food is at Kebab Paradise. My friends regularly order their kebab platters such as the beef kufta kebab. Another favorite on the menu is the mixed gyro platter as well as the solar wings. We love the white sauce and hot sauce they bring out to the tables! We love the rice with carrots and raisins they serve on the platters... authentic and tasty. We can't get enough! Service was super fast as I'm sure they were already preparing for their regular lunch rush. Customers were beginning to arrive around between 12:15-12:30 for lunch. In my previous experiences, this place can get PACKED during lunch time. It' can be a hit or a miss. My coworker told me that this location must have been renovated more recently perhaps in the past year or so because the counter location was moved to add more seating. Their seating area is quite large and comparable to the Parsippany location although the tables are not in a separate room like the other location. Order at the counter and they will give you a number to be seated. Once the food is ready, a server will bring out the food to the table along with all the sauces. Restaurant sits in a small corner strip mall in Bound Brook. There is a small parking lot that can get packed quickly. I finally found an Afghan place only half an hour away from our house. We tried this place out after a recommendation from a co-worker. Place is authentic. These guys are the real deal! My girl and I both had their chicken kababs with yellow rice mixed with carrots and raisins! PERFECTION! This meal came with bread & butter as well as salad. The salad had some type of dressing which went well with the salad. The white sauce they had on the side was a good combo with the chicken kababs. The rice was very flavorful, I can come back here and just eat the rice and ill be happy. The owner here was awesome. He knew everybody and the dude remembered my name 30 minutes later after only mentioning my name once. I would come back here and get a burger and a gyro platter next time. Unfortunately our group of 14 hit Kebab Paradise for lunch on exactly the day when the staff was short 2 people so service that day was, uh, not memorably fast and they ran out of platters too so we ate on styrofoam. Order at the counter and they'll run the food out. Drinks are in bottles in the big cooler. Vegetarian rating: 4 stars for the many options including veg biryani, salads, flatbreads and outstanding hummus. When I got back to my room and spread out the food I was not disappointed. Every bite was delicious, and the portions were too large to finish in one sitting. My 2nd visit here at this joint. Ordered at the counter and was told to pay later when we leave. Plenty of seats but filled up pretty quickly once we settled down. I got the Kufta sandwich which is a ground beef kabab in a pita bread along with lettuce tomato and with the white sauce drizzled on top. The flavor was really good and I was glad I wasn't too hungry when I walked in otherwise I would've totally order another. We also had the spicy chicken wings. Ordered too many because we didn't realize they give you whole wings. Quite tasty tho. (Spicy is not very spicy) Someone from our party ordered the mixed gyro platter that looked amazing and from what I heard it tasted just as good as it looked. Will have to try that next time. The only complaint I have was when we left to pay the guy kept getting out bill wrong. Charged us two sandwiches instead of one. Another of my friend got charged two platters instead of one. Middle Eastern classics sit side-by-side with burgers and buffalo wings at this Afghan fast food joint. We split falafel, hummus and baba ganoush appetizers and a kufta kabab sandwich. It was all excellent. Conversely, the dining room was a madhouse. We went on a Tuesday night around 8pm and the place was mobbed. Specifically, the place was mobbed with people who didn't understand the concept of personal space or "indoor voices." It was a bit too much like eating inside a pinball machine for my enjoyment. I've eaten here twice and carried out twice. Both times I've eaten in with a large group of friends and although the workers seem accommodating at first, they quickly grew impatient with our table. I found it unprofessional for them to treat us as an inconvenience when in reality we were giving them a lot of business (15 ppl) on a slow night. The food here is nothing more than average. The mixed platter is decent; cooked well but very mildly seasoned. The burgers are a bit better but nothing to go out of your way for. My best-friend-for-the-day needed a ride as his car was in the shop, and since I'm temporarily unemployed, I was the only one he could call. I think. But he offered to buy lunch, so I could not resist. Though it was several miles from where the car was laid up, I agreed to go the moment I heard "gyro" and I trust said friend's judgment on such matters. Fortunately, he was spot-on. I added a bit of white sauce and tried the hot sauce. Plenty of seating is available, but my friend tells me the place can get packed at times. We split dessert - baklava and a honey-sugar-flour delicacy whose name I cannot recall (good, but incredibly sweet and super-sticky). Deeeeeeelicious! Just found this place randomly while looking for afghan food near me. Came with a friend and it was fairly empty. We sat down and were given menus then told to order up front. I got the lamb tikka kebab which came with rice, onions, peppers, lamb and pita on the side. That rice, was soooo good! They give a huuge portion, so much that i brought home enough to have a whole other meal. I am surprised that they can do this to their regular customers as well. If not every week, then i have been ordering from them on every other week. Yesterday the order that was given to me was wrong and i realized that after i came home. on calling them again, they said that they can't send the right order and i have to pick it up.i did after that and they promised me anything for free apart from what i was having anytime. today, i called them and was planning to claim my free order and the response that got was that i could only claim it yesterday and not today. i know i told the owner that I do not need anything on yesterday as i was the only person eating it. why would i take 2 orders on the same day if i can only suffice my belly with one. not good. poor service. you guys did a 180 degree turn on your promises. read more

About s 3.5 rating. For some reason I like the Lake Hiawatha location a bit better still. Wings: honey BBQ was a fail, not sauced well at all and the flavor was just flat. The spicy (nuclear?) hot wings were really good, fried well but again under sauced, had a really good spicy buffalo wing flavor though. Cut your wings people!! Eating them the way they are is nearly impossible! Burgers: very greasy, very filling, taste is average to above average but only because of the insane toppings they offer (halal bacon, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, good cheese mixtures etc) the party itself is average, cooked well, but in combination w the other items makes for a decent burger. We didn't try any of the platters this time, but in th past they've been really filling and taste good along with their really decent white sauce. read more

Great kebab place my fiance and I discovered over the weekend. Their menu is fairly decent size with lots of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean options. My fiance ordered some type of gyro combination platter that was suggested by the guy working the counter and I ordered the chicken kofta. Both were very delicious and seasoned perfectly with the right amount of spices. Combine that with a salad, bread, massive pile of rice and soda for 8 bucks and you can't go wrong. We will be returning here again. FYI: This place has kind of a strange ordering system that can be confusing if you're not familiar with it. When you walk in, go directly up to the counter and you will be handed a menu. From there choose what you would like and if you are eating in they will hand you a number. You then choose your table, sit down and grab your drink on the way to the table. It's the same exact process if you're ordering take-out except you don't sit down at a table but just wait for your food to be ready. There's no sign or explanation when you arrive and we assumed this was a standard stand and wait for a host/hostess place. They should have the entry way roped off to direct people to the counter; this would have made things much easier. read more

Got a falafal platter- it was pretty good! The rice was tasty with the raisins. I enjoyed the quantity and the overall dish. The site was very accommodating to a large takeout order and they gave us complimentary water bottles and extra white sauce. Few overall ways it could have been better: the falafal was the same price as the meat platters which doesn't seem fair to me. Also the rice was a little bit on the Oiler side.
