Well, we came upon it on Front Street and my first conment was WTF!..looks like a bright fast food restaurant in literally the middle of nowhere. Well, my first impression was wrong! We went in and checked it out. It has 3 long rows of tables with paper tablecloths and rather hard wood chairs and the service counter is on your right. We revelled at the Hot Table and all its great looking food. I asked about other dishes and they dont have them all up front...they prepare many in the back. At 7:30 pm the place was not busy, and we were heartily welcomed by Howard and Emogin, Our most friendly and gracious hosts! We felt like we had been here many times and knew them like family... They took our drink order: A Filapino San Miguel Light and a can of Coke along with a couple of glasses of Iced water. We were starving and with Howards help we quickly ordered ....Under the Sizzling Specials I got Sizzling Sisig Pork and Bon got Sizzling Squid. The pork was a combo of diced jowl, ear and shoulder meat in a tasty sauce on a really sizzling hot cast iron serving dish. The Squid were not traditional circles but stuffed Baby Squid with a myriad of fresh cooked veggies and onions. Both Freshly made and delish! My personal favorite dish was the Lechon Kawali...deep fried pork belly chicharons cooked to juicy perfection!!! Would order them every visit they were so good. To go along with the dishes we got garlic rice which was really garlicky and delish...went so well with the dishes. To conclude we got an order of Lumpiang Shanghai...mini egg rolls with a nice dipping sauce. My 5 star rating is def in order...This is the best Filipino restaurant I have been to and its clean, well run and the food is more than ample and freshly prepared... Hot damn! It's so good to find a real authentic Filipino restaurant with Filipino goods that reminds me of home. I'm here on business and the people here are very accommodating, letting me taste some items before I purchase. I ordered the Chicken Caldereta, which was very good, I ordered the sinigang, which was HUGE but soooo tasty, very much like how my mom would make it. The pork adobo was ok, I prefer my dads home made, but still very good. The pork bbq was a bit cold but it's best if you're taking it to-go to eat at home. My eyes were much bigger than my stomach because I over ordered because everything looks so good and freshly made. I really like their healthy portions because it can feed a family of 4 and I was just here by myself! Plus they have all the goods that I need to take home, anything from loganisa to toyomansi! That's not half of a chicken. $10.95 for Pork BBQ- 2 skewers. One of the entrees came with a garlic rice portion, not specified which on the menu so I dont know which. I ordered a large garlic fried rice, again didnt specify on any menu which entree it came with, it was okay for $7.95. Lastly I ordered a leche flan, $5.95 is a bit much for the smallest slice. I was very disappointed with their ukoy ... not even close to what they serve in Queens. Big chuck of veggies with a big piece of shrimp fried all together. Not crunchy at all...OMG. Ukoy fritters are supposedly thinly sliced so when fried, it will come out crunchy. Picture attached here so you guys can see. Anyway, their chicharon bulaklak and kare kare are good. The food here is excellent, thus the 5 stars. My biggest issue is in their take out orders 1) I ordered lechon belly which was perfect the first time, but was uncooked and inedible the second time. Wwhen I complained to the owner, she said that this was cooked the same way everytime, uggghhh, ok, so I never went there ever. 2) my husband and a good friend went there for lunch, the food was delicious and very good, therefore, the friend ordered a dozen chicken inasal or barbecue to take home. When he opened the order, the chicken given to him was not fresh, but looked and tasted "old", the same thing happened to an order for take out , the person opened the order up in the store to inspect it and again it was old stock not fresh cooked, so she had the staff cook up fresh inasal while she waited. I read all the good reviews and decided to try Kabayan Grill. I was starving and did not eat anything all day and I arrived around 3PM. I was dazed and confused because I was so hungry. There were 3 other people in the place when I arrived. I talked to the staff and asked for him to go over what my choices were for the lunch special. I wanted the two choice lunch special for $6.95 as it was displayed on the take out menu. After going over everything and letting me try the "beef blood" I ordered the beef stew and beef blood. It didn't look like a lot of food. I went back and looked at the small take away menu at the register. I saw lumpia roll for $1.50. Great! That should be fine. So I thought $6.95 + $1.50= $9 and change. I ordered it and the gentleman rang me up for $18.95!?! What?!? I was hungry but $18.95 the math did not add up. He tried to explain to me that the prices went up for the lunch special, $7.95 for the two choice lunch special plus $1 for beef. As he finished explaining that I asked how come the lumpia so expensive. I pointed at the menu and it clearly stated $1.50. "You have to ignore that sir the price has changed". He proceeded to show me the regular dine in menu. $4.50 for two small lumpia rolls!?! That's crazy. I was starving at this point. I asked him to go over ringing me up step by step. After doing so the total came out to $14.61.Wow! I never had "sticker shock" in a Philippino restaurant!?! $7.95 for the two choice lunch special + $1 for beef + $4.50 for lumpia roll I could have eaten at a Chinese buffet TWICE for that price!?! I could have gotten a pizza pie for that price!?! I brought the food home and it tasted good and came with a lot of rice. Clearly it was my first time there and the staff should have given me the lumpia rolls for $1.50 but instead I have to give them a bad review! So I will NOT be coming back. read more

A very good Filippino bodega/ eatery within walking distance to another good Filipino restaurant in East Meadow. Here you can order at the counter or take a seat and be served. Everything from the crispy spring rolls to the grilled pork and the adobo were tasty and the garlic rice just brought it all together. Service is welcoming and prices are a little higher here than up the road. So the question of the hour: Which done do I prefer? Well, I don't have an answer, I like them both. Only 3 tables were occupied but it took 40 minutes for the kare-kare to arrive, another 20 for the pancit. The pinakbet arrived after the melted halo-halo. The pinakbet ended up to go, who eats pinakbet after halo-halo? The ingredients used in the halo-halo (beans, banana, etc) were subpar, very chewy. I'm a noob to Filipino food but I've had it before and am always trying new things. This was just bad- the lumpiang (pork - no fish) smelt fishy and turned me off. The pancit bahon was equally gross, the "pork" and "chicken" were indistinguishable from one another and they were cut up in such a way that the whole dish was unappetizing. I was called a few minutes later by someone from the restaurant asking for clarification on the address I gave. Fine, but this call should not have taken ten minutes of my workday, with the person on the other end of the line repeatedly telling me to hang on and putting down the phone. I asked her to cancel my order because there are plenty of other options who have no problem finding my office, and she refused, stating that they had the address all along. Ultimately, they were able to find my office and the food came on time. Love this place. My favorite is the Laing and fresh lumpia. The couple that own this restaurant are always so nice and welcoming. Everyone that works here is also very welcoming. They have all my favorite dishes all the time. There are a few Filipino restaurants in the area but they don't make certain dishes everyday. If this place doesn't have something already made that you want they make it for you on the spot. I love that. I just had dinner here a few minutes ago and the milk fish I ordered w soup (sinangag na bangus) tasted disgusting I come here often and it's almost always fair to good quality but today for some reason it was not up to par I told the cashier who is the son of the regular cashier that the food did not taste good I did not make a big deal about my displeasure coz he's a very young guy and his father always treats me very well However I will no longer recommend this place due to the fact that the quality of the food is so inconsistent. The only reason I'm giving it an extra star was because of the nice waitress and staff. There was a baby cockroach in my bulalo soup. We sent it back and they gave us a new one. But how do we know that the new bowl of bulalo wasnt from the same batch that the roach was in?! The rest of the food we ordered tasted mediocre. My family ordered delivery on Grub Hub and it was delivered well under the time that was listed (50-60) minutes and it came in 32 minutes exactly. I was incredibly impressed with the food, as was my entire family and they are not the easiest to please when it comes food. We started with the Lumpiang Shanghai which are awesomely crisp mini pork egg rolls served with a fantastic sweet chili sauce for dipping and eight came in the order, so it was a perfect amount for us. We also shared the Nilagang Baka which is an awesome soup with so much flavor made with beef short ribs and Asian vegetables. The short ribs were incredibly tender and melted in your mouth. For dinner we shared two things: the Pancit Sotanghon and the Escabeche Fish. I loved the vermicelli noodles because they were seasoned perfectly and had the right amount of lemon with vegetables that were still crisp, not too soft, and pork and shrimp. The fish was a sweet and sour whole fish and was definitely not what we expected but were pleasantly surprised. We will definitely be ordering again from Kabayan again very soon. read more
