Wow! What an amazing restaurant! This place has such an authentic home-cooked meal feel to it even while having such unique food to my palate. It is almost hidden among all of the other bars on the main strip where you could easily drunkenly walk by this place and never give it a second thought. It's almost one of those spots that if you know then you know. Those that have been here know this is a mainstay for good reason. It is easily one of the best restaurants in the area between the nicest most hospitable servers ever - they actual feel like family friends with their warmth (as well as their patience regarding my uneducated questions on all of their interesting dishes) as well as of course they're food! Every time we come here my wife says Persian food is her favorite all thanks to this gem. For those who have never had the opportunity to try this cuisine, it is almost a mix between Greek/Afghani style with fresh herbs and yogurt sauce mixed with Moroccan style with a strong emphasis on sweet and salty combinations using pomegranate or dried fruits and nuts with rice which perfectly compliments the lamb shank that we had today. We also enjoyed an appetizer of smoked eggplant dip which was somehow unique and comforting at the same time. And the beef tongue sandwich! Do yourself a flavor and try it! There is plenty of meat and the tenderness puts filet mignon to shame (just double check on the price bc some of the menus may not be updated - well worth the experience either way). If you look online you will see that they have daily specials and we cannot wait to come back and try multiple different intriguing dishes. If you're looking for a quality culinary adventure crafted over thousands of years then come give some well deserved support. Hand down one of my favorite restaurants. I've never had chicken this easy to chew and this easy to digest before. Very well cooked and soft. Portion sizes were amazing. At most Persian restaurants they bring you a huge plate but here it was just the right amount!! Large portion sizes bother me because a lot of the food gets thrown in the trash and wasted but the smaller than usual portion sizes here made all the difference. The tea was good. Waitress kept coming to refill my water - thank you. Parking was hard to find but I got lucky and found a place out front. The haftseen was also really cute. Rude management & zero customer service We ordered a pomegranate thick soup (aash) without paying enough attention to whether it included meat ingredients. My mom and I are vegetarian, and we immediately noticed meat balls in the two bowls of soup that arrived. We were kindly offered by the server to have the pomegranate soups replaced with similar item in the menu that didn't have meat. Once the bill came we realized we had been charged for the replaced items as well. I brought that to server's attention who referred me to the owner who asked if I had read the menu before the original order was placed. I answered no. He then asked if we had touched our soups, before he reluctantly and rudely said he would "accept the loss" this time and adjusted the bill, instead of what should have been said in such cases that the bill would be adjusted as a courtesy to the customer. Saying as a person with years of experience in the hospitality industry, I am sorry that the management of a well-established restaurant has not realized yet that caring for customers should come ahead of counting every penny they earn or lose. In addition, they need to pay attention to hygiene, and renovate and regularly clean their restrooms that were found in appalling condition. The management of "Kabob Bazaar" need major customer service training and they need to reset their business mindset and start with trusting their customers and prioritize "the positive experience." They also need to empower their serving staff to make petty decisions such as replacing a small bowl of soup without escalating the matter to their manager. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I have ordered salmon, chicken, Soltani kabab with salad, rice, or both; the soups, and some of the special polows, with cherries, or with carrots and raisins; or with herbs and dill. Everything is cooked to perfection,marinated exactly right; and Persian food is not easy to cook. The tea is very authentic - made on a samovar and very strong. I usually order the chicken sandwich. Recently I ordered the marinated beef (chenjeh) sandwich, and that is delicious. The sandwich comes with a side salad with a variety of greens, parley, tomatoes, lettuch, green onions and radish, and a light yogurt dressing - excellent. Thank you, Kabob Bazaar! By far the worst kabob I've ever had ! The filet was soo tough, I couldn't cut it with a knife and the koobideh was so dry I could barely choke it down . They have the nerve to charge $25 a plate when their portions are half the size of other decent restaurants and they are even too cheap to include a tomato. read more

I was excited to try this place but the lamb and beef were both without any flavor whatsoever. And considering the price, it just isn't worth it. We tried the turkey Haleem and it was pretty bad. If you like Persian food, this is the place to go. I've been coming here for over 10 years and haven't been disappointed yet. PROS: meat & seafood are marinated well & cooked just right. Their stews (Ghormeh Sabzi like Fessenjoon) are really but only served on certain days- it's a good idea to check their website for their daily specials. Two dishes I usually order besides my entree is Kashk-e-Bademjan (eggplant appetizer) and Persian ice cream (saffron flavor) which I recommend. It's also worth it to substitute the normal rice with Zereshk Polo or Shirin Polo. The staff is always warm & friendly CONS: although they have vegetarian dishes, I would not recommend this place for vegetarians or vegans because their meat & seafood dishes taste a lot better. read more

I came here two weeks ago with a friend. If you're looking for a solid place that has kabobs, this is a good place to go. Their ingredients are fresh and they give large portions. On a Tuesday night it wasn't crowded and our food came fast. This was my second time visiting here and I have no complaints about either time. Last time I got the chicken kabobs and their rice is cooked well and their meat is juicy and tender. This I decided to mix it up and ordered the salmon instead. This was great still. They brought some type of yogurt sauce with the bread that we ordered, and I ordered more of that to have with my salmon. I recommend doing the same! The only thing I'd say is I wish their dishes automatically came with some sauce to dip your meats or drizzle over the veggies/rice. I hadn't been to this location in a long time since I live in MD. And with the Bethesda location they had, I didn't really need to come out to Arlington. But on my most recent attempt to the Bethesda location, I discovered they had closed. And now Arlington is their only location which totally bummed me out. I really liked the ambiance of the Bethesda location. So recently, I was hanging in Arlington so Kabob Bazaar it is! I came in with my mom and girlfriend. My mom hadn't been here for at least 12 years and the server remembered her right off the bat. And like I've said before... service is always great. They have employees that have worked here for 20+ years and aren't owners. That's a good sign if you ask me! I also saw some of the employees that worked at the Bethesda location. It's always refreshing to me to see the same employees I remember from my childhood. The food here is on point. I can't even suggest things to order because literally EVERYTHING I have ever had here was delicious. From kabobs, salads to stews. Daily specials are usually my favorite to choose from. The bread is always fresh.The sabzi is included with the bread. (Most places I go to these days charge extra nowadays!) Prices were still super reasonable for the area and GOOD Persian food. Since my last visit, they've remodeled. So much cleaner and nicer now. They added beautiful French doors for the outdoor patio which really opens up the whole place. i love this place. as an iranian-american, i am pretty choosy about my kabob preferences, and kabob bazaar has never failed me. i've been a customer here for about ten years now, and am never disappointed. i love that they start you off with fresh bread, herbs, and yogurt--all are really good; a lot of iranian restaurants skimp out on the bread, but KB keeps it hot and fresh. my favorite thing about KB is that they have saturday/sunday specials, which are super authentic and are meals that are somewhat rarer to prepare at home (ex. dizzi sangi, kale pache), so it's nice to have them when out. my other favorite thing is the sandwiches here--the tongue sandwich is my go-to, and is super super filling! the chenjeh is really juicy (a lot of places make their chenjeh dry -___-), and the rice is always fluffy and delicious--i get half salad/half rice, and it's totally filling and satisfying. keep doing what you're doing, i love this place! read more

Probably the best kabob place in DC area. We had 3 meals there. All were great. Kalepache was very clean and came in good portions. Their Barg and Kubide kababs were extremely well made. I was going to give at least 4 stars after this week's "delivery" order by Grub Hub.... but then today I placed a "Take Out" order for Jujeh w/zereshk polo and was sorely disappointed as to the quality of food I received. .. Jujeh was dry, the rice did not have enough zereshk in it and the yellow rice that supposed be with saffron.. did not look or taste much like saffron perhaps some yellow food coloring was added and the worst part though was the Sabzi that came with it.. first the container was half full and and when I looked more closely it looked like some left over sabzi that was thrown in..all there was was some parsley and many of them were only the left over stem... there was no basil or scallions (except for scallion skin left over), or mint like a regular sabzi and like the one I had gotten only 2 days before. But I want to give this business the benefit of the doubt because most of what I have gotten from her has been generally good or very good...So I hope this was an anomaly..... read more

Puurrsian food is the other half of my life. If I could replace all my meals with kabos bazaars big sticks of meat I totally would. All jokes aside, the food quality here is really good and I have never had a bad experience here. The best part is the holidays. During Persian New Year there is a buffet and ohhhh man lemme tell ya. I have never seen a larger group of individuals put down as much food as on this day. Kubideh, joojeh, barreh, you name it and it will all be feasted upon by all the hungry mouthes. The restaurent has a very homey vibe to it and the decor is awesome. During the world cup is also funny because there are always a bunch of persian dads who sit and watch the games for hours yelling angerly as they munch down on sticks of meat for hours later to wash it down with copious amounts of chai and shirinis. If you want quality Iranian grilled dishes this is your place. We walked in here randomly but was not disappointed. I had bought the lamb skewers with the chenjeh. It was simply grilled with rice and two pieces of tomatoes. I enjoyed the charbroiled taste of the grilled items and the rice was cooked to perfection. In addition what makes this place different from others is the hot sauce they have and also the yogurt sauce they have that is similar if not is tzatziki. One of my favorite Persian restaurant! And the only restaurant I know they haven't raised their prices! Thumbs up for keeping the low prices and delivering the same quality and portions! They have a wonderful location right on Clarendon metro, excellent food, great service and very decent prices. The waitress was very friendly and smiling all the time although I've had few requests... But she kept that smile on. I usually get kabab. I've tried their fish kabab, chicken and ground beef. Everything was delicious. They also have some authentic Persian dishes on the menu. Usually I'm not a big fan of rice. But they have this rice is to DIE FOR!!! Whenever I find myself in an unfamiliar place (admittedly this happens a lot) and hungry I turn to the ever-useful Yelp mobile. Tuesday afternoon was no different. After a meeting I planned to take Deanna J for a tasty lunch. The only directive she'd given me was "no Thai food." Since I'm lately on a kabob kick (who doesn't love meat on a stick?) I was immediately intrigued by the highly rated Kabob Bazaar that popped up very near to our meeting place. We braved the whipping winds of Clarendon to make it to this homey feeling restaurant. We scoured the menus taped up on the glass deli cases and ordered up a pile of food including a couple of kabob plates and the vegetarian combination which came with falafel and other goodies. I ended up with just about the juiciest jujeh kabob imaginable. The portion was enormous but we were in it for the long haul and just kept eating and eating. I was less impressed with the falafel and the yogurt sauce (two of my favorites, ordinarily) but the chicken kabob was so delicious it trumped pretty much everything else.
