I found this place when looking for healthier options in the area without going over the top. Food here is pretty amazing. Tried it for the first time and kabobs are on point. We opted for salad/bread instead of rice and the salad was really good. I was able to place a to go order and pick it up. Next time we're gonna eat at the restaurant. New KC fries are solid. It's Fries with steak, yogurt, and hot sauce. Special gyro was extremely salty so I would tell them to not add feta. Chelo kabob was best dish. Bijan gets all the love but this Persian joint isn't that bad. Too bad it can't hang with the big boys. read more

I used Yelp to find this place close to home. Ordered lamb shank, beef koobideh kabob, beef steak kabob. We really enjoyed everything we ordered except the second time we did take out, the person taking the order or service made a mistake and so we did not get the dill rice with the meal. The plain rice was fine but we really wanted the dill. The Baklava was awesome. This is going to be a family favorite from now on. read more

Meat is great here. Butter, rice, and sumac. Simple and basic. Now mix it with kabobs and vegetables and you have a meal. It's been some time since I was last here but the family was friendly. The meal did take some time to prepare but you can place orders for take out and pick up. The food can be plentiful but if you think the picture is not enough then do yourself a favor and order two. Great dishes. Start off with the dolma, if they have hunters hummus (beef, pine nuts, olive oil, paprika/cayenne with hummus then order it), then order a plate depending on whether you want ground beef/chicken or you want thick filets/chunks. Each is different. Grounded meat is mixed with herbs/spices so it has tons of flavor. The other non-grounded meat has seasoning but it is on the outside and not mixed thru. Still good stuff. Finish meal off with baklava and Turkish coffee however if it is past 5pm you may want to reconsider the Turkish coffee as it typically has extreme amounts of caffeine. Great place! It's kind of hidden. But I recommend everyone who is into Mediterranean food or Persian food should go here at least once. It's great, great service, great food. Family run business, just very rich in Persian and middle eastern culture. Also they have hookah outside which is really enjoyable with friends and family. Gave this place a shot because of the 4 star reviews. Bad idea. The portion sizes are incredibly small. This wouldn't be a problem if the food was great, but it's not. We ordered the hummus and the feta, olive and parsley plate as appetizers. Three small cubes of store bought feta, 4-5 tiny green olives, and a few sprigs of parsley later and we were far from satisfied. As stated in other reviews, the hummus was cold, and most likely defrosted. The entrees were equally dissatisfying. I ordered the KC kabob with a salad. The beef koubideh was the best part of the meal. The chicken koubideh, as with most rubber dishes, was barely edible. The "salad" consisted of wilted romaine lettuce, pre-sliced carrots, a dusting of feta, and 3.5 slices of black olives--the kind you would find on a cheap pizza. The only redeeming factor was the service. We will not be returning. read more

A first time customer but not new to Persian food. We got take out and the food was really good. The sampler appetizers were excellent. I'm not a big fan of hummus but I changed my mind after trying theirs. We had a Greek salad, Cornish game hen, KC Mixed rice Ricejewelry rice, and Baclava. All were excellent but slightly different in flavor than other places. The Baclava while not dripping in honey had a nice sweet flavor without being overpowering. Definitely we'll be back. read more

It's a cozy place near sugarland. The restaurant is family run and held and I like this a lot! The food was good and tasty and becuase it's family owned they were so caring and stuff. The place is not the best Persian in town, but it was a perfect delicious nice lunch, and probably you pay less than Kasra but tasting maybe the same. read more

We've driven by this place a lot but never stopped in before. We got Chelo koubideh and the regular koubideh. The rice was awesome, the grilled tomatoes delicious, the meat so good. It was only our first visit so can't comment on the whole menu but they do have cheap lunch specials and I recommend if you like persian food to check them out! It saves us the drive into the Harwin district when we don't feel like making a production out of the meal. read more

I've eaten at all the middle eastern restaurants in Sugar Land and this place has the best Kabobs. I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. Because it is not in a great location (at the end of a strip center in a corner by itself), business is slow. It is a great little place that nobody seems to know about. This was average Persian food. The ambiance is nothing fancy.

For a $10 plate you get five very thin slices of gyro meat with a few thin slices of pickles and two large tortilla that was more than enough due to the small amount of food on the plate that they gave. The tortilla wasn't even good and it was cold at the same time. I would rather drive all the way to montrose area to NIKO's NIKO's. Far drive but worth the time and money. Don't be fooled by this place, it is not worth the money. read more

My favorite Persian restaurant in Houston. Calming music, nice but not over the top decor. But, you really come here for the food. It's not busy because Persian cuisine is not well known in this part of Houston. I've lived in Los Angeles for many years (Tehrangeles), have been to all the Persian restaurants in Houston and I can tell you without a doubt this is the best Persian restaurant I've ever been to. They are very clean. It seems family owned and operated with no corners cut. They are a true business who care about their customers rather than profits. Persian food is not cheap, like sushi is not cheap because the fish is expensive, most of the ingredients in the kabob is filet mignon. If you don't want to spend a lot, get a simple kubideh. It's awesome! Very affordable, and great value for the money. Compared to other Persian restaurants the price is extremely fair. I don't know the owners and this review is not in anyway solicited. I have always had an excellent experience here. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Also try the amazing Persian ice cream (saffron and pistachio), and egg plant appatizer (kashkebademjoon). read more

Kabob Cafe is my regular place to get Persian food. I really like eating their appetizers as a meal. Being a vegetarian, I highly recommend their dolmas, hummus, and eggplant eaten with rice that has berries and pistachios in it. They have a wonderful Turkish coffee that I always love drinking with my meal. I've asked if I can buy a bag of it because it's strong but not bitter. Apparently, it is hand blended in Iran by one specialty coffee shop that they order from directly. I really love the flavor combination of my above recommended meal and coffee. My family often likes to eat their lamb soup when it's available. It is a special stew so it's not always on the menu. It's a small family run place and I like to support local business by eating at this wonderfully warm and welcoming family's restaurant. read more

I have been coming to this little gem for a little over a year now and find it to be a great value and a wonderful experience. I stick with the chicken kabobs and opt for the salad rather than the rice, while my wife goes with the rice rather than the salad. The chicken is always moist and full of flavor. However, the beef is hit or miss as sometimes it is rather dry and chewy. The flavor is always pleasing, but the texture is sometimes lacking. Always ask for the grilled tomatoes with your kabob as they bring a special flavor not normally found with other kabob vendors. Lastly, the soups here are AMAZING!! The only problem is that since they are homemade, they don't make an endless supply. SO once they are sold out, that's it. It's refreshing knowing that you are not getting yesterdays unsellable stock that has been sitting all day. If you have picky eaters for children you are not going to find anything that will work for them here. read more
