The website says they open at 11:00. The signs on their front windows say they open at 11:00. We came by at 11:15, & the doors were locked as a large red "OPEN" sign stood next to the door. There were some other hopeful customers standing around who had been waiting for a while. Then someone else came out of another business & as he walked by, he informed us that this place is known to open whenever they feel like it on that day - sometimes as late as noon. We were disappointed because we had heard good reviews from friends, but there was no point in waiting around indefinitely, so we ate elsewhere. Edit: A month later, we tried again around 6:30 in the evening for supper, & found them open! The food was delicious & the service was good. We enjoyed the kabob platter for 2. The meats, sauce, salad, & naan were great. Then the owner brought by another sauce that was even better. He was a gracious host to us. Excellent lunchtime experience!!! This was my first time at the Kabob House, and if I actually lived in Boise it would certainly not be my last. I tried the combo kabob plate with both the beef and chicken kabobs. Usually, when given a choice, I always prefer beef over chicken, but I've gotta say that the chicken at the Kabob House was the most tender, juicy chicken I have ever eaten in my entire life--it was unreal!!! Great flavor with both the steak and chicken, but the chicken was the hands down winner today. I also really enjoyed the basmati rice, and the side salad was tasty though super-petite. I have to confess that, although I usually love a good naan, the naan here was just so-so. It would be better with a hint of garlic, but whatever the naan lacked on its own, it was saved by the great flavor of the meats. The restaurant is very clean, and the owner is a very nice man--he deserves your business, Boise, so get in there! read more

Delicious food! My wife and split the kabob platter for two. It took about 20 minutes for the food to come out but it was worth it. Everything was freshly made and cooked to perfection. The owner, Shams is a wonderful man. He's very nice, caring and respectful. The place is really pretty and the best thing of all was the food . So nice, fresh and plentiful. The food my boyfriend and I got was delicious and flavorful and Shams checked in once in awhile to see if we needed rice and/or salad for our kabobs. Great atmosphere and customer service. Be sure to order the chai the best chai I've ever had. It's like heaven in my mouth if I can summon it up. This isn't just a Kebob House, it's a Kebob home. The owner and the wait staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. This was our first time eating at an Afghani restaurant as well, and they were nice enough to guide us through the menu and let us know how thing should be eaten :) I'm sure their delivery food is great too, but if you want the full experience, you really have to eat in, because getting to spend time in the restaurant's atmosphere and interacting with the staff there is the cherry on top of the whole thing. Now, onto the actual food, which was also incredible. We got the quabuli palow and beef curry with naan. The owner recommended mixing the quabuli palow and curry together, and that was some of the best tasting food I have ever had. Their naans are also fantastic (you only really need one for two people; they were the size of my torso). The mango lassi also had the perfect blend of spices and sweetness, making it smooth and refreshing. You can tell the owner and the cooks care a lot about their food, and it comes across in the flavor of each dish. It was enough food that we left happy and full with leftovers to eat the next day, which the owner topped off with a bit of extra rice and beef curry. If I could give this restaurant and these people six stars, I would. If you're in Boise and thinking about going here, do!! Don't miss out! read more

I've been living down the street from Kabob House for 6 months and just discovered this gem. The owner, Shams, is incredibly warm and welcoming. My friend Karyn and I ordered the combo platter and tried their chai. a few savory bites here...and one sweet sip of chai...makes for a perfect combination. The kabobs and tikka masala were so tasty and the meat was so tender. The rice is what sold us, though. We will be coming back to see our friend Shams very soon! We picked up food here for my husbands birthdays (they were closed on my birthday the Monday before so I was dying to try) we ordered food for me my husband and little baby girl and the Chicken tiki masala unfortunately didn't have any chicken in it.. maybe two pieces tops I think it was and the rest was all sauce... i feel like it was because they were closing in an hour. I hated wasting $14 bucks.. Brad called back today and the owner/manager happily gave us our refund for that meal and it was basically painless! I had a lovely lunch at Kabob House. My meal was lamb with rice and a nice salad. The dipping sauce for the lamb was wonderful. Worth a repeat visit. I asked for my lamb to be cooked medium rare and they obliged. It however bring a question from the manager as to why. When I told him I liked rare lamb and it came off the skewers more easily, his response was that it is usually served well done as that is the way the originating culture likes it. I love it when I learn something new about a culture. I will continue to ask for medium rare, but at least I know that I'm outside the norm. read more

The decor is beautiful and the ambiance is really nice for a date night, but also family dining. Our food came fast and we ate past the point of feeling full because it was so good! You have excellent taste. Ambiance There is the flag of Afghanistan hanging on one wall, beautiful ethnic art on another, and low tables with pretty cushions. There are also standard height tables and booths. The owner greeted us when we walked in and let us choose where to sit. He was very kind and accommodating. Indigo was treated like a princess. Comfort food, middle eastern style Indy and I chose to sit at a booth. We ordered sabzi chalow (basmati rice and sautéed spinach), naan (flat bread), sambosas (delightful turnovers filled with potatoes and split peas) and green Persian chai. The Persian green chai was served in a charming floral teapot. We enjoyed everything. Those sambosas were perfection, as was the basmati rice. A lesson in communication Indigo made friends with a sweet little girl. Neither spoke very much. Fortunately, language barriers are never an issue for toddlers. They mostly giggled and smiled as they played which was a beautiful thing to see. Kabob House. A place where everyone is welcomed to enjoy a lovely meal that is cooked with love. We have been to Kabob House for lunch and dinner many times and I am stunned by the handful of negative reviews here. The food and service are without equal, in Boise The only possible explanation for these negative reviews (which all seem to have common threads of poor service) is that the reviewer clearly never set foot there. The service we have always received and seen others receive is like long lost family members. I have never seen rude or inattentive service during any of my dozens of visits here. But great service isn't the only reason for coming here. The most important reason for coming is the absolutely amazing food they serve every day. Each dinner is better than the last. There are no clunkers on the menu, and I will even order a vegetarian dish from time to time just to try everything! Don't take my word for it. Go see for yourself. read more

Their mantoo is fantastic. I ate the mantoo and literally felt like I traveled back in time to my first time trying the dish. The first time I had mantoo, my Afghan friend's grandmother made some really amazing mantoo. She was also a very amazing cook in all kinds of Afghani dishes.
