Really good Persian food - ideal for a large group as they have humongous portions. we got the kashkeh bodemjan which i would describe as an elevated baba ghannouj. it was really good! i wanted to get a salad but i think they misheard me and gave me a soup instead which was pretty decent, not bad. it was just a super hot day so i didn't really want soup but if it had been cold i would have appreciated it a lot more. my friend got the lamb koubideh as the lunch special, which is 1/2 the portion of the dinner menu, and it was so much (delicious) food! i definitely would recommend coming here with a huge group and splitting things! i tried some of his lamb and it was so decadent and tender. he loved the rice. i think for the largeness of the portions, quality of food is not sacrificed which can be a hard balance to reach. read more

It can get a little dry together with the bread so I would recommend getting hummus or another sauce with it! Their hummus is really good too. The service is fast, you order at the counter and they bring it out for you. It can get crowded so if you're going with a group, make a reservation. We came to visit Kabobi for my mom's birthday for the first time. I'll start with the positive, we ordered several mixed grills and the meat was the best I've ever had in Chicago. However, the service was non-existent, this was our first time here and we were sitting at our table for 15mins until we realized nobody was coming to take our order. I finally went to the front and an annoyed employee told me I needed to order first and get a number. I went ahead and ordered a few soft drinks, they just said, get it from the fridge rudely. After I sat back down, it took forever for the food to arrive, we first got our entrees and then I had to show them our receipt to get all of our appetizers, which is ridiculous. And they were semi warm, got cold really quick. We had to track someone down for glasses of water, after all our food was eaten. The appetizers were just OK, the bread was cold and like paper. Nobody came to check on us, we were invisible to all the waiters. This was the worst birthday we've ever had. Meat was the only positive here, everything else is zero stars. We will keep going to Noon O Kabob in the future. read more

I was recommended to this place by one of my colleagues who boasted about the deliciousness of the food here. Some of my office colleagues made a plan to dine in here on a Saturday - we arrived at 5:30 pm to avoid rush that comes after fast-breaking during Ramadan time. As you walk - you place the order and get a number for your table which is on right side. Very clean and welcoming interiors. Staff was very active - making sure service was up to the speed. I think owners were also present who were very welcoming and checking in with guests. When it comes to food - it was just fantastic, we had lamb, chicken and beef kabobs. Chicken one was the highlight - just melted in the mouth. Made to perfection. We ordered platter for 3 people and we were 4 - it was plenty of food!!! The mind yogurt drink was also very refreshing. Final meal was the dessert- baklava on Jalebi and mango saffron ice cream which hit the spot and made us feel bliss. As this was my boyfriend and I's first time coming here, we ordered based on what our experienced friends recommended. I got the Mixed Grill #2, with shish tawooq (dark meat chicken), lamb shish kabob, and dill rice. My boyfriend got the Kabob Sultani (filet mignon kabob and beef koubideh) and regular rice. Everything was so flavor packed and delicious! Our favorite meat was the filet mignon kabob. It had a smokey, charred taste that has me drooling even now lol. For the price and amount of -delicious- food you get ratio, Kabobi definitely deserves a 5/5! I heard their lunch time menu is even more worth (; Would definitely recommend to give them a try! Oh my! I went on Reddit and read the "If you could only eat at one more place, where would you go" and this was number 1. It was number 1 for good reason. The place was packed - but the service was next level. You order and sit down - and the food shows up with the best taste. They catered us food for an Iranian event in Ames which is 6 hours drive from Chicago. It was perfect and we had a lot of leftovers. Neither great nor bad. Not likely to return. Things have changed over the last few years. The dinner portions were frightening. I have never seen such family-sized portions served as a dinner plate for one. While the food was fine, the portions and platters they were served on grossed me out. My husband ordered his lamb and chicken entree, my son had beef and lamb koobideh, and I had the lamb biryani. The three massive platters, enough to feed about 12+ people, were placed at our table for 2 adults and 1 toddler. I wish they were transparent with serving size/portions, as I would have stuck to one dinner entree for the 2.5 of us and not have felt disgusted by what was presented. Too much food is very off-putting. We were all turned off by the sheer volume of food that I really don't have anything positive to say. Lavash bread: 1 They said it was fresh lavash, but this is not traditional lavash bread. It was baked to a cracker, and heavily dressed in cheese/herbs. Not good. Baba ghanoush w/ pita: 5 (we all enjoyed this app). Lamb biryani is the chef's recommendation: 2 It was 90% simple Middle Eastern rice with few, small pieces of lamb shank mixed in. PASS. Chicken and Lamb koubideh: 3 Good meat, but the entree was 85-90% rice that we left behind on the table. Falafel plate w/ rice: 1 (neither good nor authentic in taste, shape, or color). Weird taste. Bamieh (dessert): 3 Tea service- 2. No coffee/lattes. You look over a menu, and then order at the front counter. Service is wonderful, as you'd imagine it to be at a Middle Eastern restaurant. Came here with a couple friends because it was recommended by someone. The portions were definitely huge at this place and we ended up getting a box to go for some items. I thought the falafel were a bit dry, so I had to dip it in the sauce cause I usually like my food pretty bland just to see if the dishes are flavorful without before putting sauces on them. The lamb shank was my favorite because the meat was super juicy and tender that it just falls off the bone. The filet mignon was ok, I think I like the beef and lamb kebab more. Overall the place was super good and I will be back for the lamb shank for sure. There are only a couple places in my book that are a true 10/10 and this place is one of them. This is the best middle eastern food I have ever had. Everything is just so rich and filled with flavors. I usually prefer red meats but the chicken was the most succulent chicken I have ever had. Honestly you cannot go wrong with any dish so just order what you crave. The lunch deals are incredible too. Only $13 dollars for the combination platters. Couple suggestions when you go. 1.) come hungry 2.) bring a lot of people so you can try more things 3.) sub the rice for the dill rice it's absolutely fantastic 4.) this may shock you but I wouldn't get any of the sauces because the free spicy red sauce they give you is so God tier you don't need any other sauce read more

It was not my favorite place for this type of cuisine, and I'll probably try other places if I'm looking for it. I got the shish tawook and I've had better elsewhere. I had never had the rice with cranberries in it, so I'm glad I tried it but may have preferred the dill rice (then again, dill is my favorite herb). The garlic sauce was ok. I do like that they have a late night menu. It's a few selections from the regular menu but in smaller portions. Great idea, more places should do this. There's street parking and I'm pretty sure there was a free valet sign there, so that's a major plus. Not sure if that's every night or not (I was here Friday). When your Iranian friend comes to Chicago, there are only two places that you can take them to in Chicago and Kabobi is one of them. We tried this place first since it's open late, until 1 am on weekends. They renovated and moved to a new location, so we only got to try the new restaurant. There's a counter in the front that has pictures of the food and you can order before sitting down. The restaurant is big with a nice patio outside. Even though we didn't have a waiter, the servers were great and we got the food quickly and they bussed our table fast. My friend ordered a lot of dishes that we got a chance to sample. I thought everything was delicious! However, my Iranian friend said it wasn't authentic. The cherries were just a topping on the rice and were supposed to be cooked with the rice so the flavor could penetrate. The lamb shank had too many spices and you couldn't enjoy the meat. There were non-Iranian dishes on the menu too which my friend also frowned upon. For her, it didn't hit the spot. For me, everything was great! I would come back just for the homemade mango saffron ice cream! The service is impeccable and the ambiance is family friendly. My favorite dishes were Adas Polo and Pomegranate Chicken Stew. read more

My absolute favorite thing about kaboboi is the free valet system. I don't know why more restaurants don't implement this system because I'm about 95% more likely to go to a restaurant if it has free parking, especially if it's on a busy road like this one. The location is unassuming, but is quite large on the inside. The look inside is a clean and modern style which I liked. We got multiple platters brought out to us, and I liked the grilled chicken kabobs and chicken shawarma best. We asked for the garlic sauce, toom, and it as a light green color which I haven't seen before, and I get toom at literally every middle eastern place because it makes the meal for me.  I was surprised the sauce was light green, but it was really strong, like kind of grab your tongue strong but it was really good. This garlic sauce was strong, so if you're not into that you might not enjoy it. I, however, loved it. The grilled meats were done to perfection and the dill rice was nice. The whole meal was seasoned very well and our first bites smacked! This place really satisfied our craving for some mediterranean food! The portion is very generous for the price. If there's a wait to order, someone usually seats you so you can sit and look at the menu, then you go back up and order and get a number. Service was really great and friendly.
