*I would not give this establishment ANY stars if I had the option* My family and I called in our order and upon arrival, with no one else in line, we had to wait in the drive through for a lengthy time. During that wait, we inquired about getting some tea and were advised that other than alcoholic drinks, they had no drinks available. When we got home and opened our plates, none of the food was warm or tasty and it was not worth the (over) $50 we were charged. On top of my rice I discovered a piece of what looked to be either lint or part of a washcloth that had fallen into the food. We returned to the establishment for a refund and were denied because, "it was over an hour". It was explained that we live nearly twenty (20) minutes away and that we had immediately returned. Yet, no refund was given, even after speaking with the manager. I will NOT visit this establishment again and I WILL encourage my family and friends to avoid them, too. read more

Traveling from Phoenix, the time change caught up with us as we searched for something other than fast food. At 10 minutes to closing they not only seated us and fed us an amazing meal, our server treated us as if we were his first customers of the night. Ever in the area? EAT HERE!!! read more

First, I am very annoyed to pay $3.50 to have my rice fried. We are sitting at a grill station and have rice on hand, why not just fry it for free? So for my three dishes, I paid an extra $10.50 just to have fried rice. We waited 45 minutes for a table and then waited another 45 minutes for our chef to come to our table. We ordered a sushi roll which was pretty good. The food was bland and overcooked. Not worth the money spent. And the cherry on top of the sundae.... I had to pay $1 for the Styrofoam cup that held my daughter's water. Won't ever return! read more

We were looking for a restaurant within walking and came across Kabuki Romanza. What a wonderful find. Our dishes were wonderful - served hot and well seasoned. Our server was helpful, attentive, professional, knowledgeable about the menu & its ingredients, and friendly. The restaurant's atmosphere was very cleverly designed and entertaining. Much thought was given to sound control and reducing the typical restaurant conversational chatter. The next time we are in town, this restaurant will be on our bucket list. This place isnt excellent but it isnt bad either... being that I have had Japanese in a few different countries I was expecting more... but it is a good atmosphere for the family and kids... my filet and shrimp was good really well but my fried rice left something to be desired. Never consistent. Steak was super chewy and vegetables weren't good at all. A lot of my steak was just fat. Also, if you want fried rice, you have to pay an extra $4 for each meal. They sneak that in at the very top (not close to the dinner price). Too expensive for mediocrity. read more

The dinners are a treat for our family as the cooks always give a good show at the hibatchi grill right in front of you with an onion volcano and fire . We are in town visiting family and had dinner at your restaurant this evening. It was soooooo uncomfortably hot we rushed through our meal and could not wait to get out. We alerted the staff regarding our discomfort and were advised that the table where we were seated (backed up to the kitchen entrance) is always hot. If it is always hot in that particular area then guests should not be seated there. Seriously - we were sweating! One thing I remember from my many previous visits to the old location was how gracious the wait staff was. This is absolutely no longer the case. Our waitress behaved and spoke as though she had been trained in a sloppy fast food joint. The quality of the food and the presentation has declined as well. Sadly disappointed. Admittedly, I don't have much experience with Japanese restaurants, but I love this place. The atmosphere is great and I like being able to see the food cooked in front of us. We always sit at the tables where they cook for you, though there is the option to just sit at a regular table. The food is very good, and while it is pretty pricey, you get so much that there is always at least two meals worth. When you factor that in, the price seems more reasonable, especially with the quality of food you are receiving. read more

Nothing special about the food. It is pretty average for a sushi restaraunt. I think they spent more money on building the place rather than the quality of food. You are actually eating on a boat and they have sort of a "rain fall" effect around it. It's pretty neat. You're really paying to see the scenery then to eat there. This place is a great place to go for a nice dinner. We waited a while on a Saturday, but the service was great and the food was amazing. My friend and I split the combination chicken and steak and one sushi roll. I was so glad we were able to split the combination. Typical Japanese Steakhouse... but in Amarillo Texas. Portion sizes are huge and prices are right. I preferred their Hibachi sauce compared to other similar places like Benihana or Kobe. This place is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! We waited 35 minutes, when there was no crowd. What is worse, they sat us at the Sushi tables when clearly we requested the grill, then moved us to the bottom of the list even though we were here before the several others who came in. We talked to the manager, who definitely should not have been in this field of work. After sitting down and ordering we thought the service would be better, however our server messed up our Appetizer. We ordered the Tempura Combo, but got the veggie one. We told the server who responded, "That is not the one you ordered." Yet the others at the table were able to verify we did. Then she said, "I know I saw shrimp on there." Really?! Cause we eat the tails. I proceeded to ask her if she was calling us a lair? She got really rude so I talked with the manager again, not sure why. The food was awful, the Yum Yum sauce was just mayo with food coloring pretty sure, and overall it was one of the worst places we have ever been! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY! Chicken and rice you ask? that will be $17.00! If you read my reviews I never complain about prices because I believe restaurants should make a living too.... However, this place takes the cake for being pricey. The chicken entree was 13.50 but 3.50 more for the fried rice?!?!? I asked when I got the bill why 3.50 for fried rice. The bartender said the steamed rice comes with the entree but the fried rice is 3.50 more.. Therefore, I paid 17.00 for some grilled chicken, veggies, and fried rice. In my opinion that is just a bit too much.... The food is not bad but just over priced. I hate to give any place 2 stars based on price but I just feel they need to come down a bit.... Tonight was one of the worst nights we have ever had at this place. Granted, we ordered the most expensive sashimi dish on the menu for 97 bucks, the sushi person not only cheated us out of what we were supposed to get, he also cut the sashimi paper thin. The manager Katy didn't do a dang thing about it. I was really disappointed as I will never come to this place again. Our waitress was even embarrassed with the meal. It proves to show that the customer is not always in the right no matter much you spend. The sad thing is that 3 of us spent 160 without tip and we were still hungry. This place has great potential. The atmosphere with the hibachi tables sitting in a "floating boat" & a moat around it that has rain & lightning about every 30 min is a lot of fun. They also made me a special yum yum sauce for the asking. Unfortunately, part of the rain track didn't work (clogged up?), the food took too long (regular table), & the chicken was very dry. Amarillo is my stopping point whenever I travel from AZ headed east. I check into my hotel and immediately hit up Kabuki. Fresh sushi, tepanyaki, and waterfalls make it a no-brainer. Teppan grilled Japanese cuisine has always been a favorite, and Kabuki hit the top of the list. The chef at our table prepared our fried rice that was probably the best I'd ever tasted. I ordered the teriyaki steak rare and it was cooked perfectly making for a juicy tender steak all preceded by a delicious cup of hot miso soup. The advantage of ordering the teppan grilled dinners is that you get to watch the chef prepare it, and the food is dished up hot on the plate within seconds of it's being ready. Also, our chef was very personable and fun and made the dinner a spectacle to watch with his erupting onion volcano. Kids at our table seemed to really enjoy the experience. Kabuki is highly recommended if you're looking for a delicious teppan grilled dinner with an entertaining atmosphere. For those looking for fresh sushi I've been told that Kabuki serves up some of the highest quality. read more
