Visited this local Sushi and Asian Fusion spot on a early Sunday evening with my Grandmother. The staff was inviting upon arrival and the servers seem to be well seasoned and efficient. We both took notice of visibility of the sushi chefs and the handling of food being very clean and sanitary by the servers. I would strongly recommend the Soba Soup as a warm appetizer. The ginger dressing on the salad was the only thing disappointing. The Chirashi I ordered was plentiful with fresh sashimi and well presented. The Pad-Thai is extremely tasty and and a definite "palate pleaser". The price to ratio is very fair, considering the quality, neighboring competition and available coupons. This is definitely a great place that provides more of low-key, relaxing atmosphere where you can actually hold a conversation and not worry about parking or if you are well-dressed enough. My friend and I came in on Thursday to try this place out because of the rumours of it having good Kani salad. We entered Kado, a beautiful restaurant, and we're greeted with a smile. However, soon after ordering those smile slowly disappeared from our servers mouths. We asked to start with spicy Kani salad, and I couldn't have been more dissapointed, it was bland. Then they gave us a complimentary appetizer of piled up sushi that was cut into triangles that we soon regretted to try, but the upside point was the crab cakes with pineapple sauce. Finally, we got our entrees, a volcano roll and a super dragon roll, we were amazed by the presentation of it, but the taste was dissapointing, we couldn't continue on eating them. My friend who ordered the volcano roll only took one bite, and I had to take down the big mosh that was set on top of my roll. When we told the waitress that we couldn't eat it, she immediately gave us an attitude be stomping and banging the check and a plate of melon on the table, when we wanted to try out the desert because we were still hungry and thought the desert must always be good, but since we were treated poorly through the dinner service, we walked out paying our check, which we had to pay for the meals we did not eat. read more

Their special rolls are excellent. I really like the sushi box cake and the ceviche tataki. The service is excellent. The owner is always there and he ensures things are done right. Place is usually pretty good and I go here all the time (until now). They close at 3pm and reopen at 4:30pm. I called to place an order at 3:01 and the lady wouldn't take my order. Extremely disappointed as I send a lot of business there way. Why even answer the phone 1 minute after you're supposed to close if your not going to let me place an order for pickup. So if I called one minute earlier I would've been able to order. Instead they turned business away. This place is a gem in Syosset, situated in a strip mall, secluded from the eye. The atmosphere is similar to what you see in Manhattan, better than most LI Japanese restaurants. Service is always good. Their sushi, maki and sashimi are one of a kind! Super fresh! Their specialty rolls is a must try! The quality of sushi here is comparable to what you get at Kotobuki at Hauppage, of course with less crowd and noise, besides no long wait for a table. According to their take out menu, there is a $15 minimum for delivery, employee informed me over the phone there is a $20 minimum. Go eat at Kado immediately. The staff here is amazing!! I've been treated like an old friend from my first visit. Menu offers a lot of unique and delicious options you'd never find elsewhere. I could order off the appetizer menu alone and be satisfied. My advice however is to forget the menu, come hungry, sit at the bar, and tell'em "omakase" which means that the chef decides. And he waitress woulf completely change her personality when other customers came in. We felt very discriminated and disrespected. From the outside, this place seems like a typical "fast food" sushi joint. However, on the inside this restaurant is vastly different. We come here often and have never been disappointed. The rolls are divine, the staff is attentive, and the vibe is cheerful. They always offer a complementary bite to start, and fruit at the end of the meal. More traditional sushi and sashimi is done beautifully. But the rolls are the thing to explore: huge, satisfying, fearless and sometimes spicy! The sushi box cake is an incredible bite you put together yourself. Magical Roll is made with eggplant and a lemony sauce. Both are unforgettable. A scallop dish I tried from the kitchen was perfect. Drinks are reasonable. We love sitting at the sushi bar, the sushi chefs are so friendly and so eager to please, after a few visits they remember all your favorite rolls and dishes!! We have invited all of our sushi loving friends to dine with us. The dinner has always been a meal fit for 'royalty'!! Even if you're not a sushi lover, you will LOVE Kado, there are great cooked dishes on the menu and dishes for vegans and vegetarians too. The owner is a sushi chef extraordinaire and knows how to keep his customers happy.
