This is an okay Greek restaurant for sure. Their food tastes good and looks good, I just wish I would get more of it for the price. I paid $5 for some baklava and about $9 for a gyro; the portions are too poor. Baklava = tasty, homemade, just the right amount of sweetness, good slightly crunchy texture; gyro = proper ratio of meat to condiments, could use more feta (especially since they charge extra for feta), great tasting meat. There is really nothing else to complain about. When I got there, there was a cashier training a new person on how to check someone out, and the person who had worked there for a while seemed nice enough. The premises are clean and look smart. My wife ordered takeout and asked for cheese on the side. Everything had feta on it which is problematic when you have health related dietary restrictions. She even called to make sure it wouldn't have cheese on jt. Also $90 for two cups of soup, a chicken and gyro meat plate and calamari?! Super expensive. Well it's good food (heavy on the raw onion) but seriously weird vibes. The interior is so personality-confused. It's like a 50's Americana nostalgia vibe concept, but in a Greek restaurant! My biggest concern is that the order-upfront, no-table service is tacky, to say the least. They bring the food to you, oh, my! To say the most, they have full-service restaurant prices with econo-service experience. Get your own napkins, silverware, water, soda, condiments. Like a freakin' Taco Time, ami right? And seat yourself, but bus your own table. Fine, but stop creating a situation where the servers interact like they are actually serving people and customers are under tipping. Evidentially the business is slowly languishing, and the drive thru that was started last year has not fully materialized. That's how you know that they are aware it's a fast food service dynamic, yet still pressuring the poor staff to act like it's full-service and probably treating them that way. Take-out is standard play here, as no one wants to feel as though they have to tip the workers full-service amount at the cashier. Just finish your darn drive thru and let employees and customers proceed thusly. Stopped in to get a coffee drink with a friend. Thought that espresso drinks were available, but no. We ordered drip coffee instead. Our server was friendly and brought us big colorful mugs with a saucer. They were cool. I liked drinking out of this big cup that let me breathe in the beautiful tasty aroma. The coffee was delicious. Not sure what brand, but it was really rich. One might expect burnt or like warm coffee by 5:00pm on a Sunday, but quite the opposite. It was nice and fresh. The environment was cozy and warm. I hadn't been in for this renovation but it was very inviting. We remarked and were told that they were about to embark on an interior update. Hope it retains that warm feel. We didn't eat but promised to return to enjoy their fare. My friend left a huge tip to compensate for not eating. This was my very first gyro sandwich years ago, and I remember having a great experience, and I would compare all future gyro's' to this memorable moment I had back in the day. I wanted to relive this great experience, but at the comfort of my home, so I ordered a gyro and a gyro salad for me and my boo thang through Uber eats. The total came to $55 for a salad and a sandwich! I just went with it- I wanted to impress my honey bear. However, not impressed at all. The lettuce was wilted, the lamb was cold to the touch. My gyro looked like someone just slapped a bunch of ingredients into the wrap. It was not neatly organized and topped with parmesan and tomatoes like how I remember years ago. We ordered a gyro plate and a chicken plate for takeout. It was the driest chicken and gyro meat I've ever had plus small portions and mediocre quality food. Even their rice was dry! Their salad dressing was also just red wine vinegar and oil, but mostly vinegar. No seasoning or flavor in the dressing and the tzatziki sauce was the same way - no flavor. I've been dining here for years, this location is a favorite of my friend's who lives in the neighborhood. She recommends the Neo chicken gyro with the Greek salad and Greek fries. She always begs to go here whenever we make plans to go out and eat. Since there is plenty of parking and sometimes we can find a coupon I usually agree. I like that the inside is divided into two sections with one part being order to go at the counter and the other being a wait to be seated area. Personally I love to sit on the patio on a warm summer day and enjoy a nice meal, but sitting inside is pretty pleasant too. I'm told there used to be music some nights long ago. I'm a fan of most Mediterranean food and appreciate that they have a vegan delight gyro on the menu. Lately I have been raving about the Faki which is a vegetarian lentil soup that tastes better than most other lentil soups I have had. I can't quite place my finger on what makes it exceptional but you should definitely try it. Although I do hear good things about the Avgolemono as well. I also enjoy the veg dolmathes and the deep fried zucchini. Service is pretty great and patient. They are nice enough to remove the dairy from my food when I ask. read more

Absolutely delish! Hubby and I came craving Greek just popped after a simple search our foody senses said it's gonna be a good mom and pop and we were not disappointed! We got the Chicago style gyro and neo gyro both amazing. Wow, this place was a huge disappointment. The prices were too high. The default gyro was beef not lamb and really lacking flavor. Our food was served to us with the napkin wrapped utensils resting directly on top of the food. This is not only odd (putting paper on my fresh food) but also pre-uses the napkin since it's soaking up the food. The Greek salad was drenched in dressing (I'll add a pic of the left over dressing in the bowl) and was prepared in a very thrown-together manner (tomatoes left in huge chunks, imbalance of ingredients) . I'm not one to rant on Yelp but bad service deserves attention. Kafe Neo used to be one of our regular spots a few years ago so we thought we give it a go again. Unfortunately, the experience was lacking. Note to servers: never lie to your customers. Our server had trouble giving us good service from the moment we tried to order, to complaining with other staff about management within earshot of our table (bussing station near booths is not wise...), amongst other service details, water refills, etc. But when you forget an order, and then try to blame the kitchen that they BURNED THE ORDER the first time, is unbelievable! The lie was so obvious as another server came over to serve the rest of our party, and then proceed to quiz me on what I ordered... Just admit you screwed up! Don't throw the back of the house under the bus! That combined with 3 other order details being messed up, it will not be in our rotation in the foreseeable future. read more

The food is okay, I guess. I've had some good experiences here, but some have been pretty bad. For instance, the time I ordered the Greek Gyro Salad for $11.99 as take out, got back to work and found that there were perhaps 3 pieces of gyro meat on the salad and no dressing.... or the time that I ordered the Chicken Gyro and found the chicken to be mostly crunchy tendons. I've eaten here many, many times over the years mostly because it's close to my work, but if there was another Mediterranean restaurant nearby I'd never set foot in the Edmonds, Kafe Neo again. Their cashiers are rude. It's not that their outwardly hostile, they're just not friendly, ever. It's as if they really wish you'd just leave them alone. Even on the rare occasions when I thought the food was up to par, the cashiers never are. I do like their fish gyros. I know, fish in a gyro may not sound appetizing, but trust me, it is. They know how to cook a beautiful tilapia fillet, and I've never had a complaint about the taste or quality of their fish gyro. In fact, it was that vile chicken tendon gyro that I was served that got me onto their fish gyros. No tendons in fish! It is a cute little restaurant, but if you're going to go to a Kafe Neo, go to the one in Mill Creek, it's better and the employees are professional and friendly. read more

Gyro was a bit on the small side. When it arrived, I was disappointed. I had the Caesar chicken gyro, and I could have eaten a second or even third one. I've been eating at this restaurant for 30 years. I have been eating Greek food with Greek people for 40 years. I've been going to this restaurant for a long time because in the past it served fairly good quality authentic Greek food. My personal favorite has been the moussaka which is topped with Bechamel a sort of nutmeg flavored custard. I had that dish as recently as six months ago and it was ok but when I went there today I ordered it and it was served with cheese on top even though their menu listed the Bechamel. It was the worst example of moussaka that I have ever had. I talked to the manager and she just made excuses even for the menu discrepancy. I have also noticed over the years that their authentic Greek food has become not so authentic. I am sorely disappointed as this has been my local go to for Greek food for 30 years. I ordered separately for my co worker and myself. I paid cash for my coworker's meal and I paid by credit card for mine. The cashiers were having difficulty completing my transaction and ended up charging me for mine and my co worker's meal. I don't have the receipts anymore but just knowing that they flubbed my transaction left a bad taste. Service isn't all that great. The cashiers are blatantly snotty with the customers. I am surprised at the recent spate of reviews for this place. Normally I'd think there was a change in the kitchen staff but we've been in the past week and had good food. In fact, we had good food each time that we have visited. I posted photographs of the dishes we've enjoyed so please take a peek at the gallery. I do agree about the cashiers and their lack of friendliness. They make you feel like you are bothering them during the lunch hour. But during dinner service, the wait staff has always been prompt and never brusque. On our last visit, we had an experience with a spacey server. She apologised for her forgetfulness without any attitude so there was no reduction in her tip. Someone commented on their desserts. They have begun to offer tasting sizes of their desserts for $2.00 per portion. Imagine a small ramekin of cheesecake or a halved portion of baklava or a small sherry glass with a sundae. For my sweet tooth it's perfect, I usually get bored mid-way through a dessert so something that's 2-3 bites is just right. With my praise, I also have a few criticisms. I wish they would provide more pita bread without charging for it. The pita doesn't have to be bottomless but a little more would be nice. I also wish the side order of Greek fries was worth the $1.95 that you are charged. And lastly for their cashiers - slap on a smile when they take our money. Ah, this place was outstanding from start to finish. We happened to stop in today while driving by and thinking we'd like to have gyros for dinner. We were in for a huge treat... We were delighted to come in and find such a welcoming, comfortable, and cozy environment. Very relaxing with genuinely friendly service. First came the lentil-feta soup, which was incredibly good. Like, bordering on shocking-good. Next came the regular gyros platters and Oh my GOSH That was probably the best gyro I've ever had. Seriously. And the garlic fries were insane. So good with a multilayered dipping sauce. Seriously? WHOA. Then dessert was galaktoboureko--a huge portion served warm and fresh. I can't say enough about this place. It was just outstanding. This is my favorite greek place. The gyro platter is delicious and the portions are very large. I used to eat lunch her 1-2 times a week before moving away to Seattle. I haven't been back recently so I'm long overdue for a visit. Each time I've been here to eat in the service has been excellent. Carryout can be tricky. I've eaten here dozens of times but 2-3 times I've been here for carryout and called my order in ahead of time. When I've arrived my food was not ready and after waiting for some extended period of time I'd ask again and find that my food has been sitting behind the counter unnoticed. This has only happened at the dinner hour. The restaurant remodeled a few years back and it's quite delightful. I enjoy sitting outside on the private patio during the summer. read more
