Started with a small Greek salad. Ingredients were fresh and crisp with good flavor. I had to think long and hard before I left this review, as I hate complaining, but here we are. **ALLERGY WARNING** If you have allergies Do Not Eat Here. They do not honor special orders via online ordering. I called to point this out and was told to just call with the allergy info and they will fix it. The next time I ordered from them I tried that. One epi pen and a hospital visit later I called them to complain and they patently did not care. As of writing this they still do not allow special orders online. My family and I have eaten here for over a decade, despite the overly familiar owner ruining our meals by demanding our attention instead of allowing us to eat. Despite poor service. I had initially drafted a three-star review for Kafe Neo after my first visit. I went for lunch and ordered the Neo Appetizer Plate ($13) to get a sampler of all of that vegetarian goodness. Usually, this is my favorite item on a Greek/Mediterranean restaurant menu, but that was not the case here. The quality of the vegetables was very poor, the tzatziki was bland and the dolmathes were boring mush. So disappointing! HOWEVER, I ordered the Salmon Gyro special ($10)and a side of Greek Fries ($5) the second time around, and they were excellent! The pita was stuffed with flavorful salmon (a lot!), tomato, onion, lettuce, feta and a special vinaigrette. There's no dainty way to consume this thing, so make sure your dining partner isn't a judgmental person. :) Next time I'm in the area, I want to try something off of their "Yaya's Recipe" section, as I bet this is where they really shine! read more

I've been Yelping for going on four years now and this is only the second one-star rating I have ever given. (Ironically, the other is for a horrendous Chinese restaurant right down the street from this place... maybe it's something in the local water.) I am going to tell you right off the bat that the food here is absolutely fine, the place is clean, and the interior décor is vibrant and bright (the exterior likewise, for that matter). So why the one-star rating? Because it is indeed possible for one event to completely nullify all the good, hard work that goes into promoting an environment people want to experience again. My friend and his buddy, who used to be regulars, got their usual lunchtime gyro plates and while they were trying to eat, somebody was hammering away at the booth behind them (the place was undergoing renovation at the time). Since it's rather intensely annoying to eat lunch while you're being jackhammered from behind, he complained to the manager, who apparently had words with the hammer-wielding person, as the work stopped for the duration of their lunch. On their way out, said hammer-wielder gave them the stink-eye something fierce, perhaps for getting her into trouble or whatever, and they thought nothing of it -- until she got aggressive with them in the parking lot with her vehicle. Sorry, but nuh-uh. If that's the way these people roll, forget it. Based on that incident, I would give the place a negative star if I could. We will never set foot in that place again under any circumstances. read more

Kafe Neo has been around since I can remember -- at least since I was a toddler. It wasn't until I discovered gyros as a teen that I would come here every once in a while and on my way home from class in college. It started out as a small little humble shop, but in the last decade has received a remodel and has classed itself up. This was also around the time they started expanding their ventures to the additional Kafe Neo in Mill Creek, and the off-shoots Demetri's in Edmonds and Tablas, also in Mill Creek. All of which have excellent food, but this is the source from which it started. Kafe Neo is still excellent as it was when I started coming here despite their remodels, expansions, and new projects. Whenever I have a craving for Greek cuisine, I know I can come here (or the other two Kafe Neo locations) and have consistently good food. That is more than I can say for another local Greek restaurant group who has been on the expansion train. I get into the habit of just ordering the gyros each time I come here (they're just so tasty!) but last night decided to mix it up and get the souvlaki. All I can say is: Oh. My. God. I may never go back to the gyros. I ordered the lamb souvlaki which comes with your choice of soup or salad, and also your choice of side (I chose the rice pilaf) and veggies. The lamb was so juicy and flavorful I couldn't stop from "mmmmm"ing and momentarily experiencing heaven with each bite. Seriously. I am still craving it the following day! Usually, you may have an excellent main dish with so-so sides, but the vegetables and the rice pilaf were also seasoned and cooked to perfection. If I somehow committed murder and ended up on death row I was certain that this, with my glass of wine, would be my very last meal. Kafe Neo is the type of place you want to support. It's a local business that started from extremely small roots but is slowly but surely gaining momentum into something even bigger. It's the type of place you want to cheer on while you enjoy everything the menus have to offer. Mehhhh.. This place is okay. My hunnie and I went here for lunch and it was rather underwhelming. When you first walk in its a little confusing, your not sure where to go and there isn't a sign that tells you if you are to be seated or not. It took a minute for someone to notice and point us to the counter to order. We placed our order and sat down. The food came out pretty fast. I ordered a gyro and some fries and hunnie ordered a gyro plate with some Greek fries. I don't know if its because I've had really good gyros but their gyro was okay, it lacked a lot of flavor and meat. The fries tasted like the kind of fries you buy in the freezer section and heat up in the oven. The Greek fries tasted that way too but just had feta cheese and a dipping sauce that tasted like ketchup flavored tzatziki. The gyro plate was okay as well, nothing special. The pita was good though. The whole meal (no beverages) was about $29 for that price I expected a little better. It just tastes like very mediocre Greek food. Honestly I've had wayyyyyy better. I could have gone to Aladdin's Gyrocery (the best gyros in Seattle) and gotten two combos (includes fries and drinks) for less and have spare change left over. The whole experience left a lot to be desired. There really wasn't any service, no one came to our table after we got our food until the very end when we were getting up to leave If you must go to Kafe Neo go to the one in Mill Creek. At least at that one, the ambiance is nice, the service is warm and the food is a lot better. They even have a happy hour at that one. . We're done. Long time regulars through the years here but our last trip was simply the last straw. One thing I've found very consistent about Kafe Neo. If the owners are around, the food and service is excellent. If they aren't to be found, forget it. Our last trip was highlighted by my daughter being served the rack of lamb and it was absolutely - raw. I mean were talking Gordon Ramsay would be having a fit, how dare you serve this to a child, don't you have any shame, raw. The solution? Why cut down the raw pieces into lolly pop lamb chops and refire it until they were cooked to death. Seriously? This was the solution. When we complained further told basically tough, then offered a free mini dessert for the trouble. By the time her very poorly redone refire came out everyone else was done eating. I get a piece of lamb is expensive, but talk about a what were you thinking are you kidding me easy way out. Couple this with the declining overall quality of the food over the last 12 to 24 months and I just have to say, eek, stay away - or just stay with the most basics of basics like to go gyros. read more

Small portions for the price, mediocre food. My lamb gyro had a pile of shredded lettuce with the tzatziki on top, and a small quantity of what looked like steamed lamb waaay down at the bottom. Not the best gyro, and even with fries and the tiny "caesar" salad that hadn't been within miles of an anchovy or a coddled egg, at $13 that's a poor value. On the bright side, the food came out quickly and the fries were crispy. And they use good restaurant pita - I like that supplier, whoever it is, my favorite falafel place uses the exact same pita, I've seen the boxes in their freezer. The small portion of baklava was basically in two layers - phyllo layers on top, walnut filling on the bottom. Meh. Baklava should not be a meh-worthy dessert. Beware, the "greek" fries are just regular fries with a little feta sprinkled over them, and a different dipping sauce. NOTHING special about them for the ridiculous upcharge. read more

The fish gyro used to taste fresh and now tastes "fishy." The veggie gyro has less & less veggies every time. I LOVE Greek food! My wife is Greek. We would really love it if this place actually HAD any Greek food. They have many items on the menu that have Greek names and there is actually garlic and feta cheese on the premises. However, what they cooked (nuked) and set out was not any better than food cart stuff. I'm confused why so many people seem to think that this place is 'the best' they've ever had. I assume that they have never been to an actual Greek place like the old and lamented Costas Opa in Fremont. My advice: don't bother. read more

A massive drop in quality has apparently occurred since my last visit. I got the lamb gyro, which should be a flagship for any good Greek place. The price was quite high, clocking in at $9. While the customer service was fine, the food was not. My gyro had offensive amounts of chewy lamb in it, without much else. I suppose there was the "sauce" which was next to water, and the limp old lettuce, but other than that, it was just pita and lamb. I would highly recommend staying miles away from this place if you want a quality experience. read more

LOVE, love, LOVE Kafe Neo. This place is great. I love the traditional gyro. But sometimes I gotta go outside the box, and have never been disappointed. LOVE their hummus. The kids get the cheese "sandwich", which is pita and cheese. It's good, it's usually served too hot, but once cooled down, the kids go nuts. Before 5p, you order at the counter and get a number, you're food will be brought out to you. After 5p, it turns into a sit-down dinner type place. Great service anytime of day. Two starts only for the service and ambiance. The food is horrible- it is nothing like Greek food. I got a standard lamb gyro. Should be a flagship product, but not this one. Gyro is made from marinated meet, sticker up right in cones over open fire. My lamb was soggy, chewy, nothing like the real gyros meet. In addition to that, the spices they used for the marinade did not resemble Greek food at all! Disaster- you shouldn't call it Greek gyro. Second thing I orders is loukumades- normally they are small quickly cooked in hot oil, and dipped in "honey syrup". Whatever I got was balls bigger in size than golf balls, dense as really poor quality doughnut dough and absolutely tasteless. One big disaster when it comes to food. Service was nice, ambiance pleasant. Don't go there if you want Greek food. read more

Two Stars. Two Reasons. 1) The Gyro's come with a side of pita bread (Great!). Dipping sauce (Tzatziki) costs an extra $1.64. We went here for lunch yesterday and we all enjoyed it. We arrived about noon and the place was packed with the Premera crew. Thankfully it was a nice day out and we sat outside. We all ordered different meals and the reports were very positive. Gyros were very good, Greek salad was very good too and my Greek Platter was almost too much to finish and very good as well. The servers were all very friendly and cheerful and they were quick to deliver our orders. Prices were pretty good. I read that the prices of the to-go menu are lower the the sit-down menu but I can't comment on that as I just read that today. There were no complaints from my crew especially from the one guy in the group that penny pinches and complains about money all the time. I recommend Kafe Neo and look forward to going back there to tr more of their menu. read more

UPDATED: I had previously given five stars but I don't know what happened. Food has been coming out ice cold and now the gyro meat is chopped instead of nice spit slices. I ordered this via DoorDash Friday 6/17/23. Overall, it was very filling and tasty. However, whomever prepared my order obviously doesn't understand the concept of customization. I ordered this with NO BEETS and almost a full quarter of the container was beets! I hate beets! I also paid an additional $1.50 to add feta and only got 2 small crumbles of cheese! They must have been out of some of the ingredients because there were no sweet potatoes and peas were substituted for the baby lima beans. I don't like peas either so that was another item I had to scoop out of the dish. After removing the items that shouldn't have been included in the first place, I now have about 2/3rd's of the food I ordered. This bowl should have provided me with 2 meals, but last night I ate all of what was left since there really wasn't enough to leave half for another meal. As I stated, overall it was tasty and filling. But if I order it in the future, I will pick it up and inspect the contents before I leave to make sure I'm getting what I paid for. read more

My favorite place to get a gyro in the Seattle area. Lots of gyro options, including some very unique combinations. Delicious, and I mean DELICIOUS, Greek fries that would be keep me coming back even if the gyros were subpar. But they aren't. They are fresh and tasty and wonderful. I personally love the idea of lettuce in my gyro and now find ones lacking it to be less than impressive. The tzatiki sauce here is also very good, light and flavorful. I like ordering at the counter and having my food brought to my table. It gives the place an in-between fast food and restaurant kind of vibe. I'm also a fan of the portion size and never leave hungry. You can also call ahead and pickup your order to go if you'd like. All in all the best in the area that I've had so far. This place turned my kids into gyro lovers, as well, and for that I am eternally grateful. Check them out and you won't be disappointed. read more

As I entered, a young woman pushed the tip jar toward me, insolent and silent. Hmmm.... Not a good start. I looked at the Lunch Specials, which all contained meat. Asked the two young women for suggestions. They were neither helpful nor friendly. Sitting at my table, I got into a conversation with the woman at the next table. She thought the place was better before they remodeled. (aside: Perhaps they're under economic stress now, with an expensive remodel and the faltering economy?) So back to my neighbor: She wasn't enjoying her salad (some kind with chicken in it), and said she wouldn't come back again. Then my falafel sandwich arrived. I don't have digestive problems, but was quite concerned that I WOULD have them when my body took on the task of digestion! My "falafel" was more like lots of tiny scraps and shreds that fell off of other people's falafels when they cooked. Skinny grease sticks. Honestly, the worst falafel I've ever had. I gave the place 2 stars because it looked clean, and my table was right by a nice big window. But me and the salad & chicken lady? We won't be back. read more

What a disappointment! I absolutely adore Greek food and when I read a review in the Seattle magazine I was sure this would be wonderful. We took some out of town friends with us and while we were seated promptly and water arrived quickly, we didn't see the server for at least 15 minutes. She arrived to take our order for food and drinks and then left again. Another 10 minutes and we got the ice tea and wine we ordered. Then she reappeared only to tell us that they were out of lamb for one of the party and out of something else for another member of the party. Who ever heard of a Greek place running out of lamb. Then she said when the ice tea drinkers asked for lemon that they didn't have any and brought the wrong type of soup for another diner. Will we go back, not a chance. I have been coming to Kafe Neo for as long as I've lived in Edmonds. I remember when it was a little hole in the wall and you could get an entire meal for $8. Since then the interior has gotten a facelift and the prices have raised a TON. They charge extra to eat in the restaurant, it's absolutely ridiculous. I could understand an up-charge for a beautiful location on the water, but not on highway 99. With that being said, I usually grab my food to go. I will not be eating in the restaurant again. They are fast with takeout orders. My parents love the traditional euros. I don't eat much red meat so I take their word for it. The chicken is alright, somewhat dry. The greek fries are amazing. Had the greek fries based on all the reviews too....not much special about them I felt either. and the special dipping sauce? Seems to be tatziki and ketchup. I called up ahead of time and phoned in my order, like I've done before. They placed me on hold for a good 5 minutes, but hey, it's Saturday at lunch time, so I forgave them. They said it'd be 20 minutes for my food to be ready. No problem. When I arrived about 15 minutes later, the young woman who checked me in said my food wasn't quite ready. I paid in the mean time and took a seat. A few minutes turned into a few more, and soon it had been almost 40 minutes since I had called in my order. The server finally asked me what I was waiting for, and I let him know my order. I watched as he went over to the cashier station. My food had been sitting on the counter, in a plastic bag, ready to go. He brought it over to me with a smile. "How long has my food been sitting over there?" I asked. He wasn't sure. I tried a fry. It was cold. I tried a bit of meat. Room temperature. I sent all the food back. I was very frustrated that I had been patiently waiting for my food, and meanwhile it had been sitting behind their counter, getting cold. The employees refused to give me a straight answer on how long my food had been there for. I told them I was frustrated about the situtation, and neither of the young women that were helping me apologized for took responsibility (even the one who checked me in.) I believe the owner needs to better train their staff on customer service. The food was good once I got my new order, as usual. It's pricey, but the ingredients are high quality. This place would get 5 stars easily if the staff was friendly and efficient. read more

I have been obsessed with the gyros here for the last few weeks, making all sorts of excuses to visit. Love the yummy tender gyro meat, the yummy sauce, lettuce, feta and toms, and the pita itself. I've been here three times for lunch in less than 10 days. I admit it I have a problem. We've done take out once (was a 10 min wait tops for our food) and eaten in twice. The restaurant is clean, colorful and there are ample booths. We've yet to be disappointed in the service. I think it would be a delightful place for a date, but it's casual enough for a family with kids to feel comfortable too. I've yet to branch out. I get the traditional gyro each time because I can't help myself. There are a lot of choices though, some vegetarian options and a kid's menu as well. My kids like the mizithra noodles and the kid's plate (chicken, rice pilaf and pita). My son digs the Fanta soda. They've also just had the pita bread and the Tzatziki sauce and were happy with that. Fries with feta are crisp and enough for the four of us to share without stuffing ourselves. If you're looking for a great lunch spot and craving something yummy, it's worth the trip up Aurora to try this spot. Plus you can check out all the cars and Harvey's Lounge next door and be thankful and count your lucky stars that you are not compelled to be there in broad daylight like those sad fellows. read more

I haven't had Greek food in a long time so I was excited and I got what I came for! The pita (which they served right away) so soooo warm, soft and felt as if it was melting away in my mouth. They weren't stingy with the portion so that was nice. Then they also gave us our salads which was a variety of veggies and feta cheese. I got the original gyro and got Greek fries. The meat in the gyro was tasty, not too chewy and all the veggies in it complemented it very well. I added hot sauce to it, which at first I didn't like but then as I got deeper into the gyro, it was good. The hot sauce reminds me of KFC's hot sauce haha My friend recommended the Greek fries and I'm glad she did b/c it was great! The dip is a mix of ketchup, mayo (I'm guessing) and sprinkled with feta cheese. YUM. The service was good-the servers were very polite, cordial (always smiling!) and refilled our drinks before we even had to ask. Definitely will be back. read more

I wanted the lamb gyro but they gave me chicken - or I think it was chicken. I don't think they gave me a choice? Also, I love fries. And there wasn't much of it. =( They skimped on that. Yummy yummy yummy I love their Greek food in my tummy. I think Kafe Neo's style of fast Greek food has spoiled me for many other restaurants. Their hummus is awesome and what I love about them is they don't top it with onions like so many places do. I hate onions. They are generous with the pita and that is always a plus. I hate places that give you one pita and then charge you for the rest. Their Greek fries are a must order. Always crispy and topped with lemon juice, a variety of spices and feta cheese then served with their "Greek Fry Sauce" which is a layer of tzatzki sauce then ketchup topped with feta. YUM-alicious. When I worked in Edmonds, I went here for lunch at least once a week, which wasn't bad on my pocketbook, maybe just my waistline. read more

YUM. Last night I decided to get take-out. I ordered the traditional gyro and Greek fries. I was not disappointed! Loved the delicious gyro meat and huge amount of veggies packed into the pita. The Greek fries were good, but I wasn't able to finish them - just too much food overall! Looking forward to eating the rest of them tonight. The staff was friendly and I was shocked that my food was ready 5 minutes (or less!) after I'd placed the to-go order. My only complaint is that the gyro was too heavy on the tzatziki - there needed to be about half as much as there was. Prices on the to-go menu were great. They are much higher on the sit-down menu, so I'd definitely recommend the to-go one instead. You know it's a good sign when I am craving another gyro just writing this review. Happy hour menu prices are comparable to the standard prices of nearby eateries that offer similar food. Some menu items are remakes of standards that probably shouldn't be messed with.
