Been here for several single origin coffees over the past 9 months. One thing is consistent...the coffee is good, but a bit pricey. Certainly can appreciate the attention to a single cup of coffee, but perhaps a bit more time spent on the social skills of the staff would be better time spent. The first few times i walked in the staff acted like it was a chore to answer questions about the single origin coffees and in one case threw a menu at me and waited on the person behind me. Now i just walk in and randomly pick a coffee from the board to avoid the hassle. Shock and awe at the lack of the most basic service skills. Management needs to take the time to teach the staff some manners and then explain the whole concept of service. You have a great product with a weak delivery team. Why do i go back? It is good coffee and it is the only thing that keeps me awake on the walk through Whole Foods grocery shopping. The coffee got four stars while the service received negative 2 stars. read more

Really liked this place. Good tea, PLUS sheep lining the walls, and sheep on their decorative blankets. It was peaceful when I was there, with cute little candles on each table. It's a good place to relax and have a warm drink. read more

The cafe was crowded and noisy at lunchtime. Not so surprising, but it was crowded past the point of unpleasantness. Unfortunately the toy sheep didn't do anything for the ambience or improve the quality of the coffee, either. Maybe the barista didn't understand what a flat white was supposed to be, but it came out very milky, and barely tasted of coffee. It was terrible, and cost $4.50. read more

Used to really like this place. It's still a solid meet up spot if you want to catch up with someone for coffee. However, the amount of people they service has taken a toll on the space. I know they're pretty diligent about renovating it every now and then. Also, people mention how you can hang out in here as long as you want. A few problems with this. When I want to grab coffee with someone for an hour and enjoy their company, I don't want to be fighting for seats with a bunch of campers who are on their computers tapping away and getting free refills on tap water. Also, this place is home to the post-Soul Cycle TriBeCa mom crowd. Sometimes I'd rather just grab coffee without all sweat and strollers. The coffee is good, and I understand the price reflects the real estate as well, but just like anything that was once cool because it was your little spot, Kaffe no longer feels like my secret. Fantastic!! The coffee is amazing of course but as a huge bonus, the food here is soooo good. It was good before but it keeps on improving. Ordered a couple of sandwiches and salads for our group; everyone is just raving about how good / fresh this stuff is. This is a great place for coffee in lower Manhattan, I would say competitors are Blue Spoon and RBC which just opened, both fairly close by. They have black cat espresso and a Clover for different origin coffees, I think they usually have around three different origins. They make a great, thick cappuccino, one of the best I have had. The tea is good though I couldn't figure out where it is from, they have an okay selection of Greens, Oolongs, Blacks and some flavored teas which they serve in a pot. Prices aren't bad. I've never tried the food but it looks good. The feel of the cafe can change with the art they are exhibiting at the time, sometimes it's nice other times a little weird. Overall I strongly recommend. read more

I think this place is overrated and pretentious...thats what happens with places that have snobby punksters who are just so cool they cant crack a smile or even try to give good customer service, they think being hip will win them clients, well guess what I am not one of those suckers. Ordered a capuccino, I like my drinks sweetended with honey or sugar-syrup (which this place doesnt have) I just dont like dumping sugar in the drink it doesnt dissolve and I hate that crunchy sugar taste. Well this place doesnt carry any syrups (they are too cool) and its a huge unconvenience for them to sweeten the drink with honey...they made a huge fuss the guy made me go to the end of the counter (it would have been much easier for him to get it as I had to cut through all the people in line) to get the honey...him and the other girl asked like I had made a HUGE request. Its my drink I want it as I like it, and I dont want a stupid self-absorbed coffee joint to tell me that "drinks are not sweetened, do it yourself"...I LOVE espresso and wil walk great distances for a great cup, this place is across the street of one of the offices I work at BUT I will never return...one piece of advice I have for this place: GET OVER YOURSELVES!! read more

Delicious coffee/teas, nutritious cold-pressed-juice/sandwiches/yogurt/etc. Very nice and quiet vibe. Peak hours get a little hectic. My favorite coffee in town. Waste of time. I had to wait 8 minutes to order, then another 10 to actually get the coffee. My boyfriends coffee they filled up halfway for room for milk. Then I ordered a macchiato with espresso. I expected a normal sized drink LOL they gave me 6oz cup of iced espresso. Naturally, I asked the bartender is he serious, and he said this is what you ordered and I said no I said macchiato WITH esspresso. He stared at me and offered a bigger cup, and I asked what would that do. He responded that he could add more ice or I could add milk........ HOW IS THAT GOING TO HELP. I was so mad by the time I got back I didn't even drink my coffee and sent my boyfriend to whole foods to get me reasonable coffee. So do not bother going here read more

Love the ambience! Wouldn't call this a "study spot" at all. Zero outlets (convenient) and the wifi password doesn't work either! The baristas are super sweet and friendly but they admittedly agree that this establishment (not their other location) is conducive to studying or getting work done on an electronic device. Love this place. While every now and again I get a mediocre coffee, most of the time the coffee is really good (and I am here nearly every day). Its a great place to sit and work or chill, with free wi-fi and good cakes/croissants. The sheep are cute and I like the decor. The music is good too! We always recommend this place to friends visiting the neighborhood. read more

8am classes is the main reason I know about this place. It's right next to my school so it easy to grab and go. Wroth the extra price but being on budget I don't go as often. If anyone had asked me to review this place before today, I would've probably given it four stars. That was--until--I was working there, and denied access to the bathroom after 6pm. What type of SILLY policy is that?! Since when is it ok to fill customers with a diuretic and deny them access to a bathroom?! In fact, per the NYC Restaurant Bathroom Requirements (I just researched), if you have 20 or more seats you NEED to provide toilets for your patrons. Whoever's managing this place needs to take heed--you're going to keep losing loyal customers, like me, if you don't change this UTTERLY RIDICULOUS policy!!!!! read more

This is simply the best coffee place I have tried so far. The cappuccino here is consistently great. Coffee of the day is a good drip coffee option. You can choose the coffee from the selection to be used for your cup too. They are open very early in the morning so always a reliable source of caffeine when you need it. Sandwiches and salads for lunch are great too. read more

I have my own business and I like to spend couple of hours a day at a wireless café, so I am grateful for this newly opened Tribeca coffee gem. I love the industrialized, yet warm, wooden sitting. Their coffee is brewed only one cup at a time for the freshest coffee aroma you can imagine. It is probably the best coffee I've ever had in New York and nothing like your Starbucks commodity coffee. This is gourmet coffee at its best. The atmosphere is calm, social and classy. In my top list of coffee spots and I am an avid coffee drinker. A big con...they will not fill the cup to the top when you request to if your not using milk, I found that out of character and unprofessional. At the price of coffee here it should be a smile and a "sure no problem" . My cup felt sadly half full when she handed it over. Otherwise I would have given the place 5 stars. read more

i think it's my coffee shop gripe week. i used to come here all the time last semester. the espresso here is so good and so are some of the bites, even though a bit too pricy. i came here today to hang out and do some school work and the place is still cute, the coffee still good but the music is really loud, kinda absurd and whiny. i have my ear phones in and am playing music from my computer but it's not loud enough to drown their music out. if RBC up the street had a bathroom i would be there all the time instead. read more
