I had the queen room which was a queen bed with the kitchen right next to me. It was good for the price, and had a coffee packet for the first day. After that you had to purchase it. The front desk was very friendly. We rented a cooler and when we returned it I couldn't remember our room number, but the attendant remembered my last name. That's huge for me! You get cards to check out beach towels which is nice. Just make sure to return the towels or cards to not get charged. There's a small pool with a waterfall and small jacuzzi. There's a beach across the street which I went to to see the sunset. You get a decent place for the price. It was nice and quiet, and I enjoyed my stay. read more

The first impression when we walked in the room was how smelly it was. We actually had to buy air fresheners. Then later in the day we noticed a trail of ants from the kitchen counter to the outside wall. We learned to live with them the whole week. Just moved the food off the counter. A few days later we learned there are snakes in Hawaii. Little black ones under 6" and blind found one in the room. A few days later we found a cockroach in the bedroom. The leni was small and only 2 chairs. The four of us shared time on the deck. The room was old and barely maintained. The staff don't care if you sleep they talk loud and roll carts around outside window at 6am every day on the slate walkways. 3 days we had staff walk in the room unannounced at 8:30am while we're sitting and eating breakfast. If your over 5 feet tall you will hate the showers. The room is very outdated. The bathrooms took some getting used to. The kitchen was old and smelly although decent size. I washed all the dishes we were going to use first. The room we got had a loud air conditioning unit so sleeping was either sweaty hot or listening to it all night. This stay ruined part of our vacation with our boys. We were all disappointed. I dont recommend staying here but if you do don't stay on the ground floor. Upper floors should be quieter. read more

This is probably the worst hotel I have stayed at in Maui. I had a studio with one window that looks out to the elevator. I felt like a jailed animal. I asked for an upgrade and was never given one . I looked up on site for rooms and they had availability. I asked 2 times and gave up feeling defeated. The only ones that got upgrades are ones Betty was able accommodate as they attended the time share beat down. I don't like when your on vacation and your told to meet Betty as she has a gift for you . Well it's a small bag , only to be told you will get some discounts if you listen to the time share presentation. Ok the building is pink and furniture must be over 25 years old. No daily cleaning service and amenities are sub par. Why would I want a time share here?? No thank you , even if it was free I would not stay here. I went out everyday and only came back to sleep as I could not stand the room. The pool is dirty and all pool furniture is plastic. Overall so disappointed and sad with the experience. Pros: Beach towels included! boogie boards and chairs for rent, plenty of room, with a Murphy bed and couch in one room for the kids and a separate studio for the hubs and me. appliances and kitchen set up good to cook meals. free printer for boarding passes, across the street from an awesome beach! It was nice and calm the first part of the week and it was so nice to just hang out. Good for my desert kids to get used to the ocean too. small picturesque pool, we played a little foosball in the Ohana room, very quiet. Cons: bare minimum cleaning service, grimy kitchen, not enough towels, bare minimum amenities--lucky we brought our own soap cuz we ran out. No restaurants here, have to drive up Ho'opiilani Hwy north a block or so. I was eaten alive by mosquitoes every night until I bought some bug spray to spray the bed and myself. read more

I rely on Yelp when choosing a location to stay often. But I'm very glad I didn't read these reviews before staying here! This hotel just happens to be across the street from my families house and they recommended this hotel. This hotel ISN'T the Marriott class of hotel (the standard in my opinion, above budget, below luxury). But we knew that going in. We stayed two weeks and did not have the horrific experience some have described. The rooms could use some upgrades and the carpet needs to be replaced. But our room was clean when we arrived. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in my main building on the 4th floor, had the "two bedroom" option. Which is essentially the 1 bedroom w/living room/kitchen and a door that opens to the "studio" room. The room included it's own washer and dryer, 6 person dinning room table, and pull out couch. Bed was comfy, sheet and blankets were clean. Bathroom was average, would have liked it to sparkle (kinda of a germ freak). What I did notice is they don't clean the room every day. Pick up trash, yes, but clean, no. Not a big deal, we aren't dirty people and it was cleaned before we arrived. Wifi could be slow, but never had a problem connecting or working from the connection. You did have to re-log on every day (simple, but annoying, process). Yes, there were bugs. But we're on the a tropical island, but it wasn't excessive and what I'd expect (similar to St. Thomas, St. John's, Belize, etc). Location is perfect for my family (kids 10 and 12). Close to everything without being in the middle of the crowds. Pool was real nice! Both hot tubs were clean and HOT. We WOULD stay here again at the right price. The photos to resort advertised, are misleading. The room we were assigned is an older, one bedroom, one bath, with very thin walls. A musty smelling jacuzzi tub, that doesn't work, and tile in sink and floor are chipped and in bad shape. Flooring to living room is wood look linoleum. Very scraped up and lumpy. First thing we noticed was hearing water rushing down pipes, toilets loudly flushing, neighbors on either side of wall talking, and we could hear full conversations clearly. Also, they placed us across from elevators. Direct below on walkway to parking lot is the smoking area. Smoke funnels upwards and into our room. We put a towel under door to block the smoke as I have asthma, but front desk manager was not sympathetic to how sensitive an asthmatic is to cigarette smoke. We requested an immediate change of room, but was told to wait 3 days to see if any rooms opened up. Today we contacted front desk and was told, "sorry", no rooms are available with exception of a ground floor room-direct across from smoking area. We booked this almost a year ago and are very disappointed in this week here.we travel a lot, and stay in many locations, and never have experienced a completely "full" hotel/resort, where they couldn't move us. Anyway: No sleep, bugs biting me all night long, smoke coming into our room, and all the rest of the above reasons listed above. The best I can do is warn others. This is not the way to treat your guests. 1 week here is far too much mistreatment. If I had one word to describe our room, it would have to be: moist. This hotel is the worse we have stayed at in all the islands. Our room was so small, only 1 window facing a hallway. As a result there was no ventilation & the interior was very, well, moist. Our kitchenette got infested w ants. They did provide a can of bug spray that we found in our closet (not a good sign). The pool was small & dirty. The walls were so thin that we knew the names and itinerary of our neighbors. They also charged a $5/day energy charge. Now this may be a new thing in Hawaii, I don't know, we haven't been here since last year, but I have never seen it before & I suspect it is a money grab. The internet also does not work. We own a 0ne bedroom unit and thought we should always be put n a one bedroom unit, this did not happen here. We had a studio, even though the bed was comfortable nothing else was. There was a small couch hard as a rock. The safe was broken. The shower was tiny with a weird addition on the door hit my foot on it a couple of times actually it was dangerous. The waterfalls were interesting but so noisy should be turned off earlier in the evening. The water in pool ice cold. But the maids were very good. Kitchen large and well stocked. read more

I actually liked the Kahana Falls - a lot. The room (that we upgraded to) was spacious and comfortable. A bit outdated, but when in paradise, does decor matter that much? Not really. The murphy bed was a bit hard for my taste, but we managed to get plenty of rest. The staff was friendly and helpful. We booked a Molokini day tour from the front desk; lovely trip!! 10% discount was a treat. So, here's my only problem and I hate having to say this, but one night while playing with the lobby cats, who only came around in the evening, I left my 5c iPhone on the carpet in the lobby by mistake. Upon getting back to the room my boyfriend asked where my phone was - hadn't noticed since I was happy distracted by the cats - he began to track it with Find My iPhone. As he descended to the lobby, approaching the after-hours night clerk, the signal growing stronger and stronger (my phone was in the lobby!!!!), he asked the clerk if a he'd found a phone and suddenly - - - the phone shut off and the signal stopped. Did the battery suddenly die? Inside the phone case and taped to the phone itself are my address labels and a note offering a reward. I have a friend's phone number also listed. Hard to not return it if someone wants to. Coming home without my pictures and my phone was a sad way to depart Maui. I called the manager working that night to advise him of our experience. He said he'd call me if the phone turned up. No call to date; that was 1 week ago. I'm borrowing a phone until I can afford to buy a new one. Add $400 to the trip. Aside from that unfortunate and negative experience, the Kahana Falls is a nice place to stay in Kahana. Across the street Dolly's bar is super fun - total dive (like I like 'em). Miso Phat Sushi is delicious and a cool policy they have "byob" - pay for your wine or beer or whatever you want to drink and bring it to dinner; no corkage or other fee. That helped save a bit on our dinner tab. We ate there 4 of the 6 nights we were in Maui. The sushi was that fresh and the convenience of walking there and back in 3 minutes after a long day in the sun was hard to beat. Than you Maui for another lovely trip. read more

This place was perfect for us. We had a 1 Bedroom with a full kitchen and washer and dryer. It's not right on the beach but it's across the street so not a deal breaker and we knew that going in. The pool area isn't huge but beautiful and lush with 1 waterfalls in the pool. The hot tub is one of the best I've been in. It's not large but has a nice sandy bottom, is hot and hidden so it's quiet. The staff is amongst the best I've eve experienced! They are so nice and friendly and so willing to help. Lori was very knowledgable and so sweet :) just know that their is an energy fee per day. We stayed for a week and it was an additional $150. A little steep but we were so pleased with our stay that it didn't matter. The front desk has, coolers, noodles, beach chairs and road to Hana CDs for rent and they are very reasonable. read more

First, the good news. The concierge was lovely and helpful. All of the trips/shows she helped us with were great. Maintenance responded immediately when we told them our blinds didn't work. Nice laundry facility. Pool and spas and fountains ok. Staff was helpful. Now, the rest of the news. We found out over a week before that the elevator that RCI had told us would be fixed by August 1st would not be fixed for our stay meaning we might have to walk up six flights of stairs. That day I called Kahana Falls and explained I have severe arthritis in my knees and cannot walk up an down stairs and could they please place me in the tower with an elevator. No, they could not make any guarantee until the day we arrived. I asked for the name of the manager and they gave it to me. I then called RCI and told them they had never disclosed that the elevator was still not fixed. On our reservation sheet, they said it would be fixed by August 1st. They were just rude and said the venue makes those decisions. I called the Kahana Falls manager on Monday, August 8th, the day before we left for Honolulu for 3 days She said she would make a note and do her best but no guarantee. "We never make guarantees," she said. So from August 1-11th we harbored anxiety about our room placement and if we'd have to climb stairs. When we arrived, we had been placed in the tower with the working elevator. Hallelujah! Then we walked into our room and were dumbstruck. Even the worst cheap motel room was better than this. A "studio" room with a 4X2 foot window with broken blinds looking out on a covered walkway. IT was a dark, dingy cave. The furniture was old, cheap, ugly rattan. The room was so tiny, that we had to take turns passing around the bed. Bathroom fan was loud. Had a very tall tub that I needed help getting into and out of due to bad knees--much taller than the average tub. The buttons on the phone didn't all work. Had a kitchenette that only one person could be at as it also served as nightstand for that side of the bed. AC worked but again, not great. IF you look at the review with a photo of bed with an ugly tropical bedspread, you'l see exactly our room. We didn't take any photos. The table had to be jammed and twisted so we could both sit down at it. The floor was gross and looked unclean. The pads on the lounge chairs by the pool were gross and you needed to cover them with a provided pool towel. And the day we left, the elevator in our building was broken. So my husband had to lug down suitcases down 4 flights of stairs and I had to slowly, painfully, descend. And the ultimate irony, when we returned home and listened to our messages, RCI called on August 11th (the day we arrived at Kahana Falls) and left a message on our home phone that said the elevator was not yet fixed, and we might have to walk up and down up to 6 flights of stairs. Believe the negative reviews. They speak the truth though we saw no roaches. read more

Our stay was quiet and fairly peaceful. It is an older building and the furniture could use some upgrades but not bad for the most part. Not a 4 star property by any means, but fair accommodations. The full kitchen was great! We were able to stop at the store and get food for the week. They were painting several of the units and ours was just recently painted. Good for them for trying to update but it needs a little more then paint. The only real negative about this property is the bed! Very clean, comfortable and affordable. The staff was fantastic and saw to our every need. We stayed in a studio (timeshare) and it was the perfect size, it had a full kitchen, washing machine, dryer & dishwasher. The bathroom shower stall (no tub) was small but the water pressure was quite strong so you didn't have to spend to much time in it. We attended the orientation our first morning (given by Bho) and received a TON of helpful hints navigating thru Maui at an affordable price. If you stay at Kahana Falls, I strongly urge you to attend - we also won a free sunset cruise. The concierge (Betty & Bho) booked all of our formal activities for us with a pretty good discount. They were extremely helpful and answered all of our questions that came up during our stay. I gave 4 stars due to the Wifi. It was fine for all of our phones, but was not strong enough for my lap top - (I brought the lap top to upload pics) tablet connectivity was pretty spotty as well. Wow! I am so surprised by the horrible reviews below! This was our first visit to Maui, and decided to stay here due to the pricing! The hotel is a little outdated but for the price it wasn't horrible, I did not see any roaches, or bed bugs! ( I work for a pest control company and can easily spot their hiding spots). The staff was amazing they were all so helpful! The pool was beautiful! My son loved swimming in! The only down side is that for our week visit we didn't get our room cleaned, just towels replaced. I also didn't realize I booked our flight for a night time flight, and since check out is at 10am the staff held our luggage and even let us come back and swim till our shuttle came to pick us up! Talk about amazing! They have awesome reviews on things to do and good places to eat! I will be back! (hopefully next year) read more

My family and I recently stayed at Kahana Falls . We had an amazing time. The room was beautiful and clean. Had everything we needed. There's no fancy countertops or anything like that so when people say it's dated that what they must mean. The bathrooms were clean but obviously not updated but who cares as long as it's clean which it was . The room had that island feel . We enjoyed drinking coffee on the lanai in the mornings as we listen to the water falls . The location of the hotel was amazing. Beach right across the road. The Beach grill restaurant across the way at sands of Kahana was a favorite. Loves the Maui coffee the hotel left in our room . The front desk people were amazing and addressed any of our requests! Rosco and Norman you were awesome . They had several things to rent like boogie boards, noodles and beach chairs for pretty cheap. Once you get used to the pool towel policy it's pretty convenient to get fresh towels . Free parking and wi fi . Hot tub was amazing . Pool amazing! Scenery was gorgeous . We will definitely be back ! I didn't give 5 stars because the pull out bed was uncomfortable for my girls . They need to maybe get thicker mattresses or newer ones. They used the couch cushions under the mattress to make it comfy. read more

We stayed here for a week. They had everything we needed. Nothing super fancy. But just what we needed for our trip. Simple accommodations. Had a really cool pool and a hidden little jacuzzi that was 24 hours and right next to our room. Quiet grounds, super mellow and relaxing. The beach that's walking distance wasn't that great but a $5 Uber down to Kāanapali beach. The bed was extremely comfortable. And the staff was great! read more

Kahana Falls resort sits across the street from the beach but you can cut through the resorts across the street or walk down to Pohaku Park and be on the shore within minutes. The resort is nothing fancy but nice enough. I stayed in room 206B. It was very small but clean and comfortable (for at max, 2 people). Because the room adjoins 206A you can clearly hear your neighbors and I'm sure vice versa. (By the way, 206A has a patio balcony facing the pool area, 206B does not) There is a long narrow window that faces the outer lot, but not much of a view. Below the window is a table and two chairs, table did not stay up though. The room can smell a little musty and feel a little muggy when you first walk in but I think because of the humidity. The AC unit, cools the room down but feels a little sticky. The small kitchenette has a toaster, microwave, small refrigerator, and coffee maker, dishes, cups, utensils, etc.. The hotel provides a small bag of ground coffee, filters, sugar, and tea to get you through your first morning. Rosco, at the front desk and the maintenance staff were very nice and quick to respond with a replacement when my coffee maker did not turn on. Towels and trash are picked up daily, no other services. The pool area is nice, however, I did not spend time there. There is also a community kitchen but again, I did not use it as there are plenty of places to grab a quick bite nearby. Overall, I would stay again based on the price. read more

GOT HAIR? Stayed at Kahana Falls two nights this past month and can only give it one star at best: Found long black hairs in the shower/tub in our outdated bathroom. Found black hair on the bathroom floor, sink, and across the back of toilet water tank. Obviously the cleaning lady has black hair but she needs to double-check her "work". If I can spot them so easily... then why shouldn't she be able to? Pool: Cold Hot tub: Dirty Building: Mauve, as in 1980 Mauve. Come on people, paint it! Room: Small, no balcony, no view, tiny, outdated. Everything from the popcorn ceiling to the old fixtures and tiles to the outdated mini-fridge. Need to gut the place and start all over. Not worth it people! Its not on the beach, and the beach across the street is small and not scenic. Pass on this place! read more

Great place to stay and a very comfortable room. The one bedroom is massive! I could have brought 5 more people with me and stayed comfortable. Staff is awesome and there are a lot of amenities. I will start off positive. The location is very centrally located. Many great beaches and restaurants and 15 min away from the prettiest beaches I have ever been to, Kapalua Beach and Napili Beach. Those beaches are hard to find but once you find it you will be happy that you did!! A keyword to remember, the street "Office", and turn on that street and it will take you to this magical area. Park near the entrance and stop by the happy hour at Sea House Restaurant in Napili and try the seafood chowder, very amazing. I swam with huge turtles at Kapalua and it was an Amazing experience! My daughter enjoyed the children's fruit shake and she loved the chicken nuggets. Close to downtown Lahaina. Anyhow, back to Kahana. Pro's: great location, rooms are spacious ( one bedroom, with full kitchen) pool is okay with waterfall, the jacuzzi is hot and has a sandy bottom. Staff was friendly, but wish they would have mentioned to us about the free food that the other guests leave in a fridge upstairs near the gym. Guests who have leftover food leave mayo, beer, ketchup, mac and cheese, bread, cereal, etc. etc. I wish they would have left foil but thank goodness we brought our own. Things to bring to this resort. Foil, a packable cooler from trader joe's, ziplock bags big and small, sandwich bags, parchment paper, 5 tide pods for laundry, 5 bounce dryer sheets, to go cups to take to the beach, or insulated mug to go to bring to the pool. They offer Net flix thank goodness my daughter was entertained with her favorite shows. They let you rent their sand toys for free and that was an added bonus! Baby beach was my daughter's fav beach. The humuhumu state fish are territorial, one chased after me and went after my mask. I screamed lol! Bring fav. DVD they offer DVD players. Bring a waterproof camera, you will find amazing sea life such as beautiful turtles if your lucky and the water is just gorgeous. Stop by Costco and Walmart right when you arrive and take out that cooler and fill with ice. Pack your milk. Costco musts: liquor, steaks, etc. Target: snacks, chips, condiments, bacon, sausage, cereal, sunblock, etc. Walmart: pool toys, affordable souvenirs, cute affordable souvenir beach towels, kiddy Hawaiian clothes, post it cute sticky notes, baby clothes, etc. The local markets charge like $5 for chips and $7 for sausage. Cons: the units are outdated. When you don't open your windows or put the air conditioning on, the mirrors fog up and I noticed there was a little mold in the bathtub. The shower and bathtub are enclosed, so you can't talk back and forth, and creates no airspace. Kinda different.There is a beautiful beach directly across the resort that we took photos at. Probably the best photos that I got of the trip with my new Canon of my daughter. I got many many compliments like something you would see in a magazine. The water was an ombre of turquoise, just gorgeous. I didn't see any turtles there as I heard they could be seen there. "808 grinds" is a must try for loco moco and pancakes with mac nut sauce. The "Miso Sushi" place is so not worth it so don't waste your money. Another recommendation is the Pacific Whale Foundation Snorkel Boat ride to Lanai- saw many beautiful turtles and fish, and dolphins. I heard the Molokini boat trip was not worth so I am glad we did Lanai. The most gorgeous, clear, snorkeling I have ever seen in my entire life! TURTLES! The whole boat tour was very educational and we loved it! Kahana falls gym is okay, old gym equipment. All in all, I give it a 3.5 stars. 7 days is not enough days to enjoy the whole island. I would say 10-12 would be perfect. We did not do the road to Hana. Most people said it's just not worth it with a toddler, so next time maybe we can go with the grandparents, so they could watch the kiddo. I would give Kahana another try maybe depending if we could have 2 bedrooms. If you don't plan on ever spending time in the room, this is the place for you. Lastly, the beds are super comfortable with a gel Tempur-Pedic type feel. I slept so well, better than home. We would try it again. Staff is medium friendly. Wish they would give us lei's at arrivals' like the Kea Lani in Wailea to make it more real. Lastly, we went to Ko in Wailea and it was the most delicious romantic, dinner we have ever had!! Worth every penny. Free Valet parking, just tip. Enjoy your stay, you are staying in Paradise. We made the best out of our vacation by being optimistic. Maui is now our new favorite island and Kauai is #2. Maui is a great island for children and families as well as honeymooners. I didn't want 2 leave and I want to live here one day! The locals that we met moved there to retire and they were just so kind. Lastly, we traveled end of August. We had great weather and it rained the last two days, with hurricanes few days after so we got lucky!! Rain in Hawaii is no Bueno. My husband and I are actually staying here now and I am sadly disappointed. This is his first visit to Maui and we are here for one week celebrating his birthday. So, I really wanted this to be a much more pleasant stay but the room and facilities are very outdated. To start off, we were greeted by the resident cat who had just dragged in a mouse. This should have been our first sign of what to expect. The room was small, which wasn't a problem but we were then greeted in the room by tiny ants in the bathroom and in the kitchenette's counter (which was right by the bed). I lined the drawers with paper towels because they looked really dirty. There is complimentary wifi, if you could only log on. My husband had to call the front desk to let them know it wasn't working. He was told to expect a call from the cable company. Lol. Turns out he had to reset/reconnect the modem. We have not used the pools as they do not look appealing at all, water looks pretty dirty. I had some free time this morning and decided to do some laundry (free wash/dry for guests and you get one complimentary box of detergent and you could purchase more for 78 cents). Take your dirty clothes back home! The facilities were dirty and stunk like mildew. On a positive note the staff has been nice and friendly as is the cat. Luckily we have kept ourselves busy and have been out mostly every day and only use this place to sleep. If you travel on a budget and don't care too much about cleanliness, stay here otherwise paying a bit more is worth it. read more

The experience booked through Priceline was awful! I booked online and typed in 3 people. They booked me single double bed room. So when I checked in they said "oh u have three people that's an extra $25 a person per night! I said I plugged 3 people into the itinerary when I booked. So than I asked if we could get a roll in bed. "Um no mam we don't have those there's no room" okay can I get some bedding "um no we don't have anything for u for a bed!" Okay can I get a pillow and blankets?! I asked if u don't have another room how would u like sleeping on a hard floor?! I proceeded to say, so u want $25 for an extra person and you won't provide anything for that person to sleep. Mary says "yes mam!"- really?!!!!! Really?!! Wow, I was speechless. You will just keep telling me no but not try to help out in any way! We are here spending thousands of dollars on a vacation and my daughter has to sleep on a hard floor for $25 a night and you can't provide anything! Hmmm!!!!!! So than We stay the 3 nights and they didn't clean the hotel room once. They bring us fresh towels and that's it. Awesome! So when I mentioned to Mary at checkout that the hotel wasn't cleaned she said o my people who stay 6 days or longer get their room cleaned on the 6th night?! Again wow! the pool was nice and my daughter enjoyed that, other than that I wouldn't Recommend staying here as the customer service was awful! Mary was not helpful in anyway! It was pretty sad that they couldn't accommodate or offer us any other solution. It was easier for her to just say no and move on. read more

So I checked in a little early, and they said that the room needed to be cleaned. No big deal, my fiance' and I hit the happy hour across the street and got a call about an hour later saying it was done. We walked into the room, nothing had been cleaned and there was a staff guy standing in the middle of the room. Oh yeah, and their idea of a "garden view" is either the front window that looks across the parking lot in the ground floor into the pool area that is surrounded by bushes OR its the 4'x4' concrete slab out the bedroom sliding glass door that butts right up to a 10 foot brick wall. Basically feels like an unfinished room that has about 3' of open air. Would not recommend if claustrophobic They eventually took us to an "upgraded" room, where there was no official bed, it was bed that doubled as a couch. When asked if was acceptable, and I said no, they opened the other half of the apartment, which had the bed real bed room, it was a unit that was split in half to make more money. So they let us have that one as well. During the stay their were cockroaches found in the place. one in each room to be precise. Spent too much focus on trying to get you to go to the tourist orientation. We were better off with our guide book. Also, beds were very uncomfortable. In the future I would spend a little more and stay at another place that is actually on the beach, This one is just across the street from the beach and the view is blocked by the giant hotel right in front of it. read more

I am of the old adage if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it. If you check my other reviews you will notice that I have never posted a negative comment. Yet because I rely on Yelp to enjoy and avoid a variety of places, I feel that I must be honest to spare you regarding this place. If you want all of the details, please read below. But if you are in a rush, I can sum up our stay in one word: Roaches! Maui is magical and I refused to let this place ruin our stay. So in the end, we prevailed but I would definitely not stay at this place again or recommend it to anyone. This is why. We checked in and paid for a queen sized room with a pull out couch, balcony...the works. After being there for 3 hours we saw many roaches. Before we saw them, I tried to ignore the shower smell and other signs of dirt because I was on vacation. Still, roaches are non negotiable in my world and I have lived in two major cities (NY and SF) my whole life. Once my husband and I went to the front desk and described our problem, the response was "are you checking out?". It didn't dawn on us until later how strange this reply was. There was not a sense of apology or shock. Fortunately we were allowed to move to a different room in a two story location (as opposed to the larger building). This unit had just been painted. Though we walked in and found the biggest dead roach I had ever seen, we did not see any roaches from that point on. Still we were on high alert and didn't feel comfortable to eat or relax in the room. The part that is also unfortunate is that this room was much smaller and did not have a patio. That is fine because I would've stayed in an even smaller unit to avoid the bugs. But we were not refunded at all for the price differential. We were referred back to Expedia which of course is not Expedia's duty or responsibility. My husband and I knew that we were not going to win this battle and so we chose to be happy rather than to be right. We didn't want anymore stress on our glorious vacation so we decided not to pursue this money which was roughly 20 or 30 dollars a night. Finally, when we checked in there was an unexpected fee of $117 added to our bill. When I questioned this fee (for energy?) it was immediately lowered to $56. This confused me and again I was referred to Expedia. Because of the debacle the staff refunded us for the $56 which was hardly enough but at least something. We also never used the pool or jacuzzi because we were quite alarmed about other bugs. Oh well, you live and learn and you get what you pay for. Again, I don't like spreading negativity especially in connection to Maui. But I felt compelled to write this. I hope this helps. Aloha :). read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! ROACHES AND FRONT DESK LADIES ARE RUDE!!! I've never been to Maui and my husband took me there for my birthday. He's been there before and didn't experience what we did this time around. We are frustrated and hungry from our long flight into Maui then to come to a hotel and the first thing we see is a roach crawling up the elevator wall. We get into the room and see a couple more and creepy crawlers on the bed. My husband immediately calls the front desk and the lady tells him its normal. That Maui is infested with roaches but that they could have housekeeping come up and spray the room with raid if we'd like. We refused. We did not want to sleep in a smelly raided room. We asked to get switched to a different room. It took them over 3 hours to give us an answer. Finally got swithced to another room but to only be told they will be spraying the room we had to begin with then they would be switching us back in the morning. Again, we refused. We did not go to Maui to spend most of our time dealing with hotel issues. We did not move back into that dirty, dungy room. The rooms looked nothing like their pics that are up on Expedia. They also fool you and place a picture of the beach as if they were on the beach. This hotel is across the street. Don't believe what you see. Anyway, second day we get ready and decide to head out for an adventure. We come back later that night and we had been blocked out of our room. No one is at the front desk. A security hears us having a fit and tries to explain to us that we probably demagnitized our room key. Well that wasnt the case, i had my key and my husband had his and neither one of the keys worked. The front desk lady blocked us out of our room because we refused to be moved into the old roach room. The security, whom was very helpful, gave us new keys to let us in the room. The next morining We called the office and left a message for a manager to call us back and we didn't receive a phone call. Fourth night there we get home again from a nice and beautiful time in Maui only to find out that the hotel's water was shut off. We went to bed, woke up at 4am because we were going to drive out to the crater, wanted to shower or brush our teeth but couldn't because the water was still shut off. No apologies or accommodations. They were just plain rude. Customer service is horrible. read more

I am so disgusted with this old, funky place they call a resort. I exchanged a one bedroom unit from my timeshare and got this dark dank tiny hotel room in return. I have traveled the world and this is the worse place I've ever stayed in. This exchange was a rip off. This place reminds me of an old nursing home right down to the curtains! Update: after much protesting we were transferred to a studio condo and I'm all smiles. read more

I'm glad I didn't pay much attention to the negative reviews on here. Listen, it's not the westin hotel, but the accommodations were very reasonable, convenient, and affordable especially when traveling with small children! I came with my husband and two small children and we rented the one bedroom 2 bathroom room which is basically a hotel room and studio combined. It was more than enough room for us and came equipped with a full working kitchen and washer and dryer. If you're traveling with a family, these features are a must!! I suggest you bring your own towels so you won't need to worry about losing the resort's towels as well as your own laundry soap and dryer sheets. A 16 pack of pods are like $5 on the mainland and maybe $7 here. Totally up to you. Yes there's an energy fee but that's to be expected anywhere on the island so might as well take advantage of the appliances. It's not fancy and the decor is a little outdated. But, the rooms were comfy, clean, and had AC in both rooms! There's no daily housekeeping so you do have to pick up after yourself. But the price was right and our stay on Maui was awesome! We did see a few small ants on our first night, but the staff is so nice and very helpful. Keep in mind that you are in a tropical island and bugs are everywhere you go. And if you're going to let something so small ruin your time, then maybe you should think about investing somewhere like the Westin and pay the outrageous rate. Our room was comfy, practical, affordable and clean. I would definitely stay here again. My kids loved the pool and it looks like a beautiful lagoon and the beach is literally across the street. We had a partial ocean view and the sight of the ocean was breathtaking. We're so sad to leave! Give kahana a chance! This is a nice place to stay especially if it's your first time on Maui and are traveling with kids. Hope this helps! read more

"A-OK" sums it up! For a timeshare, it is run of the mill. Pretty outdated with respects to furnishings and amenities, but it was clean and across the street from the beach. For the good: location and cleanliness warrant a positive review. For the not so good: all the beds were horrible to sleep on (lumpy and old), the gym was not really a gym at all but a tred mill, one eliptical which was broken and a bike, with a few weights, the pool is so small, I thought it was an extension of the pond, until I tried to go in it and found out that it was so cold that fish couldnt possibly live in it. Needless to say we spent all of our time at the beach. Overall, it was a good week stay, made even better by the fact that we were given the week by the owners and therefore didnt have to pay to stay here. So for the price and cleanliness they get three stars. read more

You get what you pay for. We went the cheap route and got a fair deal. Don't come here if your used to resort quality rooms or room service , movies on tv, big rooms , or room service. The pool is nice aswell as the hotel in general. Our room is tiny we have a fridge microwave etc. it's kinda afew steps above camping or if you wanna do Hawaii on a budget this works and we'll work for many. Down side no movies to order you don't get access. Next the Ac in our room makes a loud buzzing or ringing sound all night. Then theres these tiny ants kinda everywhere but I'm honestly seeing them all over the island. We're across the street from the hotels on the sand and one has dukes restaurant in it which is convenient but gets old. Biggest complete no window or balcony to leave wet clothes out overnight to dry. But they have free washer and dryer access. It's very much like an apt complex or condo type setting. Will work if you plan on being gone all day and plan your meals wisely. It's about a 10 minute drive to Kaanapali where the good snorkel , restaurants, are. If you wanna save money and not be camping and still have warm showers and TVs this is for u. We are more grateful now for our more expensive trips and how much we take for granted. read more
