Met up with a couple friends for some snacks and drinks at Kaia's on a Tuesday night. It was really warm so we opt'd for indoor seating, but would def love to check out outdoor seating at some point if I return. Beautiful spot and great vibes as well. We had no issue getting a table without a reservation. We each got a drink and shared some appetizers. One of my go to tiki bar drinks is the Painkiller (rum, pineapple, orange, coconut, cinnamon) and that didn't disappoint. A friend got their Zombie after our server's recommendation that said Zombie and Painkiller were their stronger drinks. The Zombie had rum, cachaca, oftd, lime juice, passion fruit, cinnamon, and falernum. He enjoyed that one. Our other friend got the Ohanapod Mai Tai - coconut rum, coruba rum, orange, lime, pineapple, topped with honey/lilikoi/egg white foam and said that was great a as well. The appetizers we tried were - Pupu Platter - comes with lil spam musibi, spring rolls, coconut shrimp, teriyaki beef skewers, pickled veggies, and a couple dipping sauces. The spam musubi and the skewers were really good. The veggie spring rolls were alright, and the coconut shrimp was good with the sauces. Kalua Pork Nachos - with kalua pork, crispy taro chips, cheese, lomi tomatoes, guacamole, picked jalapeño, cilantro cream sauce, etc. Loved how the chips were taro chips. Pretty good, and went well with our drinks.

My husband and I walked in on a Friday evening for dinner. They had live music and it was a nice day out so we sat outside. Despite the place being a little busy, we were seated right away. The vibe and service were great, but the food was unfortunately disappointing. The fish in both dishes were overcooked. The crusted fish didn't have any textures and flavors from the crusted part and the vegetables on the side were overcooked and under-seasoned as well. I think Pacific Catch does a better job if you're looking for a restaurant with Hawaiian vibes.

Stop by with my family for lunch. The poke was very delicious and refreshing. The fish was not fishy at all. The plate was very well balanced. I was so focused on enjoying my bowl I forgot to take picture. The service was also superbe. I will definitely come back!

Girls date was a hit at this Hawaiian inspired restaurant. Spam musubi appetizer was really good. You have the option of small and large portions for lunch. I will definitely be back to try more items.

We have been at Kaia's a few times and both service and food is always good. Today we sat outside which gave us a more island experience. There were small Palm like trees scattered around which were big enough to interrupt the view of traffic on Hartz and the driveway. We had pulled pork nachos and the larger poke bowl. All good. The pomegranate and juice soda was a nice beginning. Give them Kaia's a try.

The vibe is very cool, little piece of Hawaiian tiki bar in Danville. The staff was very nice and quick to get us seated, take our order and get our drinks and food to us. Once we had the food they were often checking in on us and refilling water and drinks. The drinks were very good, the mai tai and chi chi were exactly what was needed! Now the food... very disappointed. The ohana beef stew tasted very bland, and didn't have much of a Hawaiian flavor or vibe, felt like it could have been an Irish stew with the chunks of beef and veggies in a dark brown sauce. The ramen was very salty, and it didn't have much going for it either. The teriyaki chicken we added onto it was fine, but the flavor got lost once it went into the broth. I'm used to getting mac salad at a Hawaiian place so I was interested and excited to try a potato salad and cole slaw. The potato salad had a lot of flavor, but it did seem a little salty. The coleslaw might have been the best thing I ate there ... the pineapple chunks in it were very refreshing. I'd come back for a drink, and maybe an appetizer but I don't think I'd get an entree again.

We gave Kaia's a try and it was reminiscent of Duke's in Hawaii. Hawaiian vibes if you are missing Hawaii. We ordered the loco moco, mix plate with chicken katsu, 2 cocktails, and spam masubi to go. Overall the food was good, but nothing mind blowing or memorable that would make me come back for more. Service was good. If in the neighborhood we would come back again but nothing exceptional stands out for me.

All the service staff was friendly and took great care of us! The ambiance of the outdoor patio was upscale but lowkey. Perfect place for brunch in a beautiful day! To drink, we had passionfruit mimosas, the maitai (the non-classic one), the chi chi, and the painless (mocktail). All were delicious and beautifully presented. To eat, we shared the Spam musubi. Another lovely presentation! The ratio of Spam to rice to seaweed was balanced and came with a tasty sauce drizzled overtop and a different one on the side. For brunch entrees, we had the ube waffles (one as is and one with chicken katsu), the kalua pork breakfast sandwich? And the poke bowl. The ube waffles are unique and delicious! They are topped with whipped cream, ube syrup, and a fresh fruit salsa; all complemented the waffles well. The chicken katsu was perfectly coated in panko and fried well. The poke was refreshing and came with crunchy pickled vegetables, edamame, and avocado; which was a healthy and tasty brunch dish! The Kalua pork breakfast sandwich was hearty and savory, and the potato salad completed the plate nicely. We finished our meal with the Hula pie. Must get, even if you don't have room! If you're looking for a great brunch spot with delicious island inspired food and a lovely patio (dog-friendly), make sure to check out Kaia's!

I was so excited to try this place because I love a Hawaiian restaurant. What in the actual F is going on with the food! Please have the chef call me immediately. The miso ramen tasted like refrigerated or frozen Ramen that you buy from Costco or a grocery store. The ohana beef stew tasted like the basic beef stew that I make at home myself. The menu says the beef stew is supposed to have Hawaiian broth and there's nothing Hawaiian about their beef stew. The potato salad is very salty. I can't imagine the other dishes being any better. I really wanted to try their version of a hula pie, but was scared after what I ate. We sat at the bar. The service was attentive and friendly. I really appreciated the Hawaiian decor. There was a guitar player with nice sounding music. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning because I'm so disappointed with the food I ate.

Kaia's is a Hawaiian inspired restaurant located at the corner of Hartz and Church in downtown Danville, next to the famed Bridges Restaurant and Bar. I checked out this spot with my pal George F. on 07/15/2025. We met up at 11:30am and the staff was busy getting ready for lunch service. Even though we were their first customers, it still took them a few minutes to seat us at a table in the patio area. The patio area was beautiful. It was nicely shaded with lots of green plants. It wasn't long before the patio started to fill up, and we were literally surrounded by women. Kudos to George for that observation. Their menu featured a nice variety of island inspired dishes. After some perusing, George opted for the Loco-Moco with hamburger while I went the Fresh Catch Tacos. We later got the Hula Pie for dessert. The Fresh Catch Tacos were street-sized and made with rockfish. Frankly, they were OK at best. The fish was quite mild in taste, and it really needed the pineapple salsa to give it some life. The fries were a disappointment. They were limp and salty. The Hula Pie was excellent! The combination of macadamia ice cream, toasted coconut, and chocolate simply worked. You must get it if you come here. Service we received was good. Our server was attentive and funny. I definitely felt the aloha from him. Overall, the food here was three stars to me, but the ambiance and service deserved the fourth one. I may return. BONUS MATERIAL: - Street parking only.

This place was a let down. Drink are good specially their mai tai but food seems off . I have been to the islands several times so can say that the food quality isn't as good. Even if it's semi Hawaii I would have given 4 or 5 stars. The kaluo pork is soggy with too much cheese and sauce. The tacos are very plain.

Since this place opened I've always wanted to try it. Especially being born and raised in Hawaii I was intrigued by their menu. My husband and I came on a Monday during happy hour and it wasn't busy at all. They have a small parking lot in the back and there's additional parking in the street or a block down. We were immediately greeted and seated on the patio. Indoors was nicely decorated but it was too nice of a day to pass up from sitting outside. Service was great. We ordered mainly off the happy hour menu. I got the chichi drink which was ok, a little too much coconut for me. We also got the fish tacos which was probably best thing we got off the menu. In addition to the island fries (flavorful and good), huli huli chicken sliders (these were disappointing, very far from huli huli chicken), and the poke crisp (ahi was fresh but the lilikoi chili water was not great and tasted like vinaigrette). Overall their happy hour prices weren't a great deal compared to regular-priced items.! Would love to come back on the weekend to try out their brunch menu items.

We came to try one of Danville's newest spots, what seemed to be a cute Hawaiian tiki-inspired restaurant with cute decor. We had seen pretty good reviews, so we were pretty excited to try it out. We ordered the pupu platter, loco moco and the kalua pork with cabbage. Everything was pretty bland, but the loco moco was probably the worst item we tried. Yes, we have a Hawaiian background, but even if something isn't authentic, we can appreciate good flavor. The loco moco gravy was tasteless yet sweet and the patty was burnt and dry. The best part of it was the egg to be completely honest. Service was pretty slow. It seemed as though the number of staff didn't match with the number of customers, so it took a while to get service. When our waitress was able to help us, she was very sweet and personable! All the workers were definitely working their butts off, so if I could give them 5 stars, I would. Lastly and unfortunately the icing on the cake, we noticed a dead mouse under the table directly next to our booth. We are disappointed because we were excited to have a nice Hawaiian inspired restaurant near us, but we definitely won't be back. read more

Quick lunch...I had been wanting to try this place and had an opportunity. The weather was great, so we sat out on the patio. Service was great. We had some fun drinks the Chi Chi and the Mai Thai. The food was yummy. We had the pork sandwich and the Spam musubi. The Sriracha aïoli sauce that went with it was amazing ! Definitely want to go back and try some more. We came for the drinks. The Mai Tais did not disappoint! They were dangerous. They went down too easy. The food exceeded my expectations. The poke bowl was fantastic. The fish was fresh and flavorful, with all the right toppings. The loco moco felt like an upscale version of what I remember. The meat was juicy and tender, and the gravy was super rich. Service was top notch. Our server was attentive without rushing us, always making sure our drinks were full and that we had everything we needed. Alan, the manager, even stopped by a couple of times to check in, which really made us feel welcome and appreciated. When you put it all together, it truly feels like a touch of the islands right in the middle of Danville. read more

Cute atmosphere but when we were seated we didn't see our waiter for about 20 minutes. The drinks took a long time to arrive and then our waiter didn't come back for another 20 minutes. We saw him chatting and laughing with coworkers. The food took a long time to arrive but was really good! The waiter forgot our order for another drink while he was chatting and watching the baseball game. Overall the service was not great but the food is good and decor is cute read more

Love the island vibe on the mainland. Food was on point and delicious. The grilled prawns, in particular, were fabulous - loved the veggie medley - was nice to have the complex flavors of so many different vegetables. Service amazing. Ambiance amazing. Food options a lot. It's fine for Hawaiian food. Had the appetizer plate for 25$. Music awesome. Coconut shrimp amazing. Beef skewers yuuum. Sauces wow. I really want this place to do well. It has some really great potential and it's located in a prime spot. We love the design, vibe and feel of this place. Everyone was really nice. I got the poke bowl and while it was good I wanted it to be a tad warmer. The potato salad also was not the best. The BBQ sandwich while good was soggy. Hula Pie was really tasty and delicious especially the cookie crust. Honestly, we love Dukes hula pie so this is what hooked us in to coming. The metal chairs were hard. If it wasn't so warm would have loved to have sit outside since they have done a good job. Service needs to be tightened up a bit. Lots of delays and asking for things. We call this Haole Hawaiian food. My loco moco tasted burnt. My fiance ordered the fish tacos, they were not good at all. Father in law ordered the steak tacos, he liked them but he's not hard to please. We ordered the short rib plate to share, the meat was good but the quinoa is not Hawaiian nor did it taste good. The one thing we liked were the Kalua pork nachos as an appetizer. Decent ambience and the staff was nice. But I'm giving this rating based on the food. If you're looking for real Hawaiian food, I'd skip this place. If you're looking to just grab some drinks and get your night in downtown Danville started this is a good enough place for that. As a Danville resident, do I plan on going back? Not for the food, that's for sure. Wish I could give 2.4 stars so I rounded. read more

The good: Fun atmosphere and solid service. Drinks are yummy too! The bad: The food was mediocre at best. The fresh fish tacos were dry and bland. They honestly were one of the worst tacos we have had at a restaurant. The macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi was extremely dry (almost inedible) and tasteless as well. They need a new chef who knows how to properly cook fish. The Hula Pie was just ok. The cookie crust was off (not Oreo/bland), and there were whole nuts in the ice cream, which was surprising. The ice cream itself was creamy and enjoyable, but it's not like the original Hula pie from Hawaii that we were expecting. Overall, a cute spot, but very disappointing. We won't be back unless the chefs change. read more

Service could have been better, needed water refill, never got it. No one checked back on our food during the duration of our meal. Coconut shrimp with SPICY SAUCE, asked for alternative sauce, pineapple juice mix. Ordered fish tacos... little tiny pieces of fish with soggy tortillas....left 2 of my tacos ... pork sandwich was dry and drinks were the best part. This place was just ok. The ambiance and service was good but food was super disappointing. It's not bad... but it was not good either. The presentation of the food is awesome but everything we ordered lacked taste. Loco moco was dry, "mac salad" was potato salad and too much onion flavor, spam musubi was very average. It's very lacking of true hawaiian flavor. Very much prefer Hula Wok in San Ramon. I will not spend another penny here. Great vibes/ambiance? Go to Kaia. Want great food? We're ha'ole who lived in Hawaii for three years a while ago. This is the first Mainland place to have FRESH fish in its poke bowl. Heaven! Great menu of island favorites, a full tiki bar, and a laid back look and feel of your favorite local Hawaii restaurant. We will definitely return. It's like going to the islands. read more

Diego was amazing! We shared the Pork Nachos and Spam Musubi, and all got drinks. We originally sat outside, but when it got too cold, they kindly moved us inside. My phone was even about to die, and they charged it for me, such a thoughtful touch! 10/10 service, great food, and amazing Friday night vibes with live music. Highly recommend! read more

Great first experience on a busy Friday night for my husband and I. We were tucked in a small corner inside, but still had attentive service. Thanks, Charlotte. The Island-themed interior: Inviting, colorful, tasteful and spectacular details. Friendly and professional staff. Enjoyed excellent well-made, beautiful cocktails that tasted like cocktails . My favorite part of this platter was the warm, chewy pretzels eaten along with the thick, creamy beer cheese, but everything was delicious in its own way! What a gem in downtown Danville! We stopped by on a Saturday night and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The restaurant has a fun Hawaiian vibe with cute island-inspired décor, a full bar, and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at ease. We ordered the garlic shrimp bowl, loco moco, a side of potato salad, and their famous Hula Pie for dessert. Every dish was delicious. The garlic shrimp bowl was packed with flavor and served over rice with plenty of fresh vegetables. The garlic shrimp were perfectly cooked and generously portioned. The loco moco was hearty and comforting, featuring a generous portion of beef over rice, topped with two perfectly cooked eggs and smothered in a rich mushroom gravy that brought everything together beautifully. The potato salad was creamy, flavorful, and made for the perfect side. Portion sizes throughout the meal were excellent and definitely left us satisfied. The standout, though, was the Hula Pie. This signature dessert is a must-order! It was topped with whipped cream, crunchy macadamia nuts, toasted coconut flakes, and a generous chocolate drizzle, creating the perfect balance of creamy, crunchy, and sweet. It was the ideal way to end our meal. The service was outstanding. The staff was genuinely friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. We never felt rushed and appreciated the warm hospitality. They also offer happy hour during the weekdays, which gives us another reason to come back and explore more of the menu. My favorite dish was definitely the Kalua Pork Nachos, a decadent combination of juicy, shredded roasted pork, melted cheese, lomi tomatoes, picked jalapeños, cilantro cream, and a scoop of guacamole, all layered on crispy taro chips. The combination of flavors and textures was simply delicious, and the use of kalua pork and taro chips was a creative Hawaiian take on a classic bar food. The Chicken & Ube Waffles was yet another Hawaiian take on a classic American dish, combining a crispy, breaded chicken katsu with a soft, purple ube waffle and whipped cream. Finally, the Poke Bowl was a classic combination of ahi tuna with pickled onions, cucumber, carrots, edamame, avocado, and pineapple salsa. Overall, the food here was all creative and tasty, though nothing too outstanding. I was excited to hear that a new tiki restaurant had opened in Danville, so my boyfriend and I, along with a friend, decided to check it out last night. The drinks were decent--not particularly strong or memorable, but they were enjoyable and probably the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. The menu offered standard Hawaiian fare, but the execution was lacking. My poke bowl had barely any flavor, and the presentation felt rushed and uninspired. The kalbi was overcooked and tough, and it was served with cold rice--which was surprising and unappetizing for a dish that's usually warm and comforting. The pork sandwich was another disappointment, missing both flavor and sauce, making it dry and forgettable. Kaia's in Danville has quickly become one of our favorite dining spots! We've been here a few times since they opened, and each experience has been delightful. The food, drinks, and desserts are exceptional, with a wonderful variety on the menu. We've tried the Miso Glazed Salmon, Garlic Shrimp Rice Bowl, and Poke Bowl, and they've all been delicious and satisfying. The kids meals even come with a delightful Dole Whip, making it a hit for the whole family. Don't forget to order the Hula Pie, it's an absolute must try! The food lacked flavor and didn't feel authentic at all, even the hula pie missed the mark. The overall vibe of the restaurant was nice, but that was the highlight. After chatting with the bartender, who was super helpful, I took his recommendation and ordered a Painkiller. It was the perfect choice!
