Great experience in LIC! Went in on a quiet Wednesday night with my buddy and there were a few other patrons enjoying some nigiri! Good service and cool ambiance. Overall, tried sushi I never did before and was impressed with the experience! Below is a summary of what we had and honestly each one was better than the other for the $100 15 course meal: Oyster with fish eggs, salmon sushi,, ahi Tuna , Hamachi yellowfin, toro with caviar, Sweet shrimp, Albacore tuna, Avocado uni , Scallop, Shima aji- striped jack, King salmon with seaweed, Eel roll with jalapeño pickle, Tamago, A5 wagyu uni, Toro handroll with yuzu sauce!! Phenomenal spread and worth it! Don't go there hungry because it won't fill you up but enjoy the experience!

You can tell from the outdoor decor that the restaurant will result in a wonderful experience. The sake is affordable and it goes down so smoothly you can't even taste the alcohol. The experience itself is so unique. Not only do you get to watch your meals be made, but they tell you what you're eating as they do. Perfect place to experiment with new food items in a comfortable environment.

I love the clean and intimate setting here! We started with oyster and ikura, followed by king salmon and kampachi amuse bouches, tuna tataki, squid with crab + tobiko, hamachi with shishito, toro with caviar, sweet shrimp with lime zest, sea bream, and king salmon with seaweed. Other highlights included stripe jack, golden snapper, scallop with ikura and shiso, and a beautiful bite of wagyu, tamago, uni, monkfish liver. My absolute favorites were the Hokkaido Uni, squid with crab, and that wagyu, tamago, uni, monkfish liver combination--it was mind-blowingly good! We ended meal with ube mochi and yuzu cheesecake. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted--highly recommend for an elevated omakase!

This was an absolutely delicious expierence! I think for the higher price, the overall portion sizes were very worth it. I wouldn't say the quality was top top tier as many other omakases I've been too, but falls somewhere in the mid-top range. The staff as well were very attentive and kind. The actual restuarant itself was an incredible calming vibe with soft lighting and japanese minimalistic styles. Most even top end Omakases have awful desserts- however theres were actually very delicious. Staff overheard me saying happy birthday to my boyfriend and even came out with a candle in his dessert. So sweet. Highly reccommend going, and coming hungry!

Decided to give this omakase place a try since it's fairly new in LIC. There are two omakase options: 18 course for $118 and 15 course for $98. To be honest, I have tried at least 12 different omakase spots in nyc and I have to say, this is not the best. The fish are not too fresh. Almost every other piece, the chef smears soy sauce and snuck wasabi inside the rice to mask it. Each piece was very flat. Did not give me the WOW factor. In addition, start time is not the same for each party. People come and go at different times. Takes away the whole omakase experience of all starting together enjoying the same piece. When a party comes after, we will have to wait for them to be served, which you can anticipate dinner can be longer. Chefs are very quiet. They just tell you the piece they're serving. I'm okay with that. I am just letting you know in case you're looking for a different experience. Desserts were two options: mocha cake and ice cream sandwich. We wanted the ice cream sandwich. They said their ice cream machine stopped working. Bummer.

The service was on point, and the waiters and servers delivered in a kind manner. The guy making the food performed his work and it made it a fun experience for us girls. We were excited to see what food would come next since it was all great quality and delicious.

Service was very friendly and attentive here at kaiyo. My friend made a reservation for us to celebrate my belated birthday. We opted for the 15 courses at $98. Every bite was so good! I don't usually like ikura but it was not fishy at all and complimented many of the pieces well. The dessert at the end was a choice between yuzu or chocolate cake or ice cream. We both chose a slice of wah but the chocolate cake was frozen. Literally see the ice on the slice. The Kaiyo team also gave me a handwritten birthday card which I thought was super sweet since I love cards! Chef also gave us an extra piece on the house.

Kaiyo is great and affordable for an omakase. I got 18 pieces for $115, which includes dessert. If you have any allergies, the chef can accommodate you accordingly. The waitress was attentive, she refilled our water and asked us if we wanted more pieces, were ready for dessert, etc. The chef briefly explains each piece as he serves you. Each piece was delicious, some pieces definitely had a kick to it. The place is overall small and if you sit by the door, you might get cold. The only thing I did not like was the dessert, it's a small piece of an ice cream sandwich. The dessert could have definitely been elevated.

Great low key vibe omakase spot in Long Island City. $118 for 18 courses is a great deal. The pieces were large, well cut, super fresh and tender. Highly recommended for a nice night out.

This was my very first omakase experience and it was overall pretty good. The fish ingredients were all really fresh and tasty. Some pieces like the wagyu one, came with some fish liver slice on top which was unique. The staff is really attentive and they will ask if you want a refill of your sake or water/tea when you are finished. I normally don't like sake but the sake they have here goes down really smooth. Overall the service is excellent and it's a solid spot to check out for omakase if you're in the LIC area!

Came here for a girls night dinner. Quiet ambiance. Service is good. They have sake that comes with the course. Every piece was very good. Highly recommend. I would have given it a 5 star if I didn't get gassy eating during the course. Great flavors but not sure why my stomach got a little upset. But that's okay besides the gas.

What an amazing place! Really friendly staff. Really good food. Really quiet place to enjoy a good meal speaking with no one yelling around you.

Be careful when you go inside because there is a step after you open the door. Packaging was convenient with the handle around the sushi box. Overall, the fish was mediocre considering the price. Some pieces were soft while others were very stringy and chewy. I am not one to dip sashimi in soy sauce because I like to just enjoy the natural flavor of raw fish with a little wasabi. However, since the fish was a bit fishy, I needed a little soy sauce to mask the taste. The wasabi was also on the mild side, so I added more than I usually would. I would have rated this place a 3/5, if I did not find a hair sitting on top of the ginger...

You have two options - $69 for 12 courses and $100 for 16 courses. Chefs are distributed evenly for parties allowing for a fairly intimate setting but with efficient service. The restaurant had multiple areas set up as such. The omakase serves many typical offerings starting off with hamachi, kanpachi, shima aji, and kinmedai. They do clearly ask about rice and wasabi preference in size throughout the dinner which is quite considerate. Drink menu was fine with a number of sake options including the chefs sharing glasses throughout the meal! The fish tasted good and fresh, rice was fine though nothing memorable. Middle courses had uni, ikura and snow crab - good courses and filling. Finally we ended with the premium courses - toro caviar and a5 Wagyu with uni. I would've preferred the toro/wagyu alone and is just my personal preference that the gourmet add ons don't enhance the piece for me. Otherwise they were very good. You then have the option to order additional courses including extras off the menu. Overall sushi by m is an excellent value for the omakase course and quality of fish. The dining experience is quite hospitable towards each party and chefs are quite engaging. I would definitely recommend for casual omakase experiences!

Instead we got seated. We shared calamari and a California roll, and my husband had tuna sashimi. I had a miso soup and the Wagyu fried rice. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could for the ambiance and wow factor. But what was disappointing was the Wagyu fried rice had almost microscopic bits of beef. I guess I should have expected that for only $16. Calamari was excellent. So was the soup. California rolls were okay. In total our bill was $164 which seemed like a lot considering we didn't even leave stuffed - just comfortable. I get that we were paying for the location and scenery - if we ever go back we will sit at the bar and do the happy hour deals. In all - upscale, cozy and high quality.
