Went for a relaunch and it was just as good as I remembered. New menu items on the horizon and I was able to get a good sneak peek of. Michelin star chef, Mike Collantes was on hand working his magic and explaining each piece intricately. Good food, great vibes and awesome service, splashed with a culinary lesson of our indulgences.

Sushi Saint is the newest, must-visit handroll spot in Long Island City, offering an intimate 10-seat sushi counter experience by Michelin Star Chef Michael Collantes. We tried the Ave Maria 5 Set ($55) and loved each handroll:     *    Bluefin Tuna (akami) with black garlic - My favorite! The black garlic sauce was an umami bomb--rich, caramelized, slightly sweet, and tangy. I've had black garlic in Asia, but this was my first time finding it in the States!     *    King Salmon with lime miso, pickled jalapeño, and microgreens - Bright and balanced with just a hint of heat.     *    Crab with miso brown butter and cucumber - Buttery and delicate.     *    Truffle Mushroom Jam - Earthy, umami-packed, and unique.     *    Scallop with brown butter and cucumber - Sweet and creamy perfection. We also couldn't resist a few a la carte handrolls:     *    Negi Toro with fresh wasabi - Fatty and fresh.     *    A5 Wagyu with fresh wasabi and mushroom jam - Luxuriously melt-in-your-mouth.     *    Ikura Salmon Roe with yuzu soy and shiso - Bursting with citrusy, briny goodness. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with neon accents and Sakura flowers, creating a stylish yet cozy vibe. The service was friendly and attentive, making for a great experience.

Sushi saint is an intimate counter-side hand roll bar located right outside a speakeasy in Long Island city. Though the location makes it convenient to get drinks after, it's a bit too loud for normal conversation. I stopped by on a Friday evening (apparently the best time as they get their fish allotment earlier that day) and ordered the 5-course Ave Maria set. All of the sets from Sushi Saint come with a vegan roll, which was a bit irking, though for the price ($55) that wasn't too bad. From the set, my favorites were the akami and the king salmon roll. I also quite enjoyed the scallop, but felt the taste of it was overpowered by the sauce. At the end of the day, I don't think there was anything particularly special about the food here. It was good hand rolls, but in NYC there's other spots I'd head to first if that's what i was in the mood for The staff at Sushi Saint were great--you could tell their passion for the craft and they were very attentive (water was always full, provided small droppers for soy sauce, hooks for bags).

Newly opened handroll sushi bar in LIC. Opened by Michelin-starred Chef Michael Collantes, the intimate sushi bar has 10 seats with super high quality fish flown in from japan. We got to try the chef's set which came with 5 hand rolls with a complimentary soup. My favorite was the hamachi and spicy toro. The drinks offers are also from the LIC viral speakeasy!

When I heard about Sushi Saint opening up in LIC, I was so happy to have a new sushi hand roll spot as an option rather than another traditional sushi resto. Mannn, Sushi Saint did not disappoint! Service was quick, as you can order either a pre-set or go a la carte. My friend & I finished dinner within an hour but we were so satisfied. The rolls were not only delish in terms of flavor but they were also abundantly filling! I had ordered the Holy Grail 7 and I left super happy and fulfilled. Make ressies in advance - keep in mind that they're only open Fridays & Saturdays for now. You won't be disappointed!

    Lychee martinis and tuna handrolls

I had a wonderful evening at Chef Michael Collantes' intimate 10-seat temaki (handroll) bar Sushi Saint in Long Island City last night. We started our meal with the briny cucumber salad and the best lychee martini I have ever had.  Both the blue fin tuna with black garlic aoli and the avocado miso lime salmon roll were outstanding. Known for fresh, flavorful ingredients, often imported directly from Japan, Sushi Saint is the destination for dining in LIC! The music was a great mix of 70s disco and contemporary EDM. The service was attentive and courteous, and the atmosphere was simultaneously friendly and chill. Overall, both the vibes and the food were immaculate 10/10!

Affordable and delicious Temaki hand rolls. I think this might be my new favorite hand roll place in nyc. Kazunori is a comparable spot, but Sushi saint had larger portions and more creative rolls which I appreciated. I really liked the Akami Black Garlic Aioli Roll and the A5 Wagyu Roll. One thing that I wish was different was the music, it was too loud. Multiple times throughout the dinner, I tried asking more about the roll that the chef made, but it was so hard to hear across the counter due to the music.

Discovered this new gem owns by Michelin-starred Chef definitely serves a personalized dining experience. This is something you don't want to miss out. It's a journey of taste in every roll. Walk-ins are welcome, but securing a reservation is a great idea as they offer an intimate setting with just 10 seats and only open on Friday-Saturday. They currently provide 5 menu sets, but I prefer ordering a la carte. What I ordered: A5 Wagyu Mushroom Jam Scallop Brown Butter Cucumber King Salmon Lime Miso Akami Black Garlic Szechuan Cucumber

Exciting new addition to LIC's food scene: Sushi Saint, brought to life by Michelin-starred chef Michael Collantes. The experience is elevated as each hand roll is freshly prepared right in front of you, with the chef walking you through every detail. It is a flavor bomb in every bite!! We ordered the Holy Grail and Chef's set to get a little taste of everything and our favorites have to be the cucumber, ume, shiso, akami with black garlic aioli and cilantro, and A5 Wagyu with mushroom jam If you're looking for a unique sushi experience, this is it!!

A new temaki/handroll establishment located in the basement of Hotel Z! They were initially based in Orlando, but this is their first location in NYC. We made a reservation for 9PM on a Friday night. It's a small space right off the staircase that they somewhat share with the Newsroom speakeasy. There's seating for about 12 people (more or less). They have a lot of set menus ranging from 3-6 temaki. My only gripe with the set menu is that there's at least one vegan roll in each set, which doesn't seem worth it to me. We opted for the Ave Maria set, because that one had the most handrolls that fit our preference. You can also order a la carte, but since it was our first time we decided to go with a set. Fish quality was great and they gave a generous amount of sashimi in each roll. I wish they used a little less rice because it overpowered the fish sometimes. The Ave Maria set has a blue crab roll, but they didn't get their crab shipment that day so we were able to replace it with the uni ikura roll for a little more. The rolls played around with a lot of textures, but they also utilized ingredients well to balance each other out. I did not think I would enjoy the akami roll as much (because lean tuna is always rather disappointing to me), but the flavors were way better than I anticipated! The vegan roll for this set was the truffle mushroom jam roll. I had low expectations for this temaki, but it had the most umami flavor and meatiest texture. I wasn't disappointed with this, since it was probs the most worth it of the vegan handrolls (IN MY OPINION!). Still wish we had all the sashimi options for $55 per set tho. Nevertheless, I would probably come back and order a la carte next time after giving this place a shot

Sushi Saint is a new temaki place in LIC, it's in the basement of the Z hotel. There's one in Orlando as well, I had high hopes for this as there are a good number of authentic Japanese restaurants and a grocery store in LIC. Their fish and seafood is excellent, and I am hoping that they get better, but the best I can rate them at this point is 4 stars. Here's why, despite their excellent fish, their rice to fish ratio is not quite right. There's so much rice that for delicate fish/seafood, such as their scallop temaki, all you taste is rice. For stronger flavored fish/seafood, you get the taste of the fish, but it's still not as good as if there was less rice. Though not food issues, the chef for had dirty fingernails and the people on the first floor when you entered lacked any sense of customer service. Finally, though the place was very clean, the music was loud enough that it was hard to hear what the chef was saying.

Fire Blossom cocktail & King Salmon, lime miso hand roll

AMAZING sushi and experience! I ordered the Ave Maria 5 Set and my fiancé ordered the Holy Grail 7 Set as well as drinks from the bar next door. We loved the intimate setting of the counter and being able to watch the sushi chef make the food. We will definitely be back soon and absolutely recommended Sushi Saint.

The crowd also tends to be a little more mature, so if you're 30+ and looking for an older crowd, this may be your type of place. The food selection, however, is pretty limited, and the music really seems to depend on which DJ is there. Some DJs are good and others are just okay. The last time I went was Wednesday, July 29, and while I had an okay time, the DJ really wasn't all that. My biggest concern, though, is the liquor. My usual drink is Grey Goose or Tito's with soda water. I drink this regularly at home and at other places without waking up with a headache. Both times I visited The Record Room, I specifically ordered Grey Goose with soda water, and both times I woke up with a significant headache. The first time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured it could have been a coincidence. That's actually one of the reasons I was willing to go back. Unfortunately, the exact same thing happened after my second visit. I obviously cannot confirm what was actually poured, but because this has happened both times at this particular establishment, it does make me question whether I was actually being served the liquor I requested and paid for. When you're paying top-shelf prices, you should feel confident that you're receiving the brand you ordered. Overall: nice ambiance, mature crowd, limited food options, hit-or-miss DJs, and unfortunately a liquor experience that has now left me questioning what I was served twice. For those reasons, 2 out of 5 stars for me.

The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. I would definitely consider hosting another event there, or dine here on my own.
